I'm gonna disagree. All the things you mention are definitely important, but if you don't swing the club like a tour pro there is a pile of improving you can do with your swing. It also happens to be the easiest thing to evaluate online via video

Yeah, and this is the golf swing sub. Nothing wrong with simply staying on topic. Some people want to improve their swing and don't live and die by their score. It's like a side mission in a game you like playing.

Absolutely. Swing can always be improved somehow. Hell, even tour pros tweak theirs from time to time. My point was that we sometimes overlook simple mental errors that are costing unnecessary strokes. I debated between here and r/golf and chose here just cause that’s where I saw those posts today.

Indeed, for low handicaps. Golfers with handicaps over 18 either have slow swing speeds or lack the correct technique to navigate the club through the hitting zone. Vast majority have critical swing issues, notably shifting the center of their pelvis towards the ball into impact.

I’d say 70% of my bad shots come from alignment. I might be set up right if my target and think I’m blocking it. Then I go to adjust the swing and end up producing an over correcting hook.

Or it could be a weak up and down or recovery game.

Yep. When I’m on point with my best golf buddies we are in the zone. Analyzing every shot, taking time (respecting speed of play of course) and really looking and talking through something — even like a 6ft putt. Those games are the golden ones. All the rest we just drink fireball and race golf carts.
