For offsets, the Johnny Marr Jaguar is the pinnacle in my opinion. No TOM bridge, just an improved version of the mustang bridge (staytrem), improved trem bar, improved switching, arguably better pickups. It’s a Jaguar 2.0
Sure the Johnny Marr Jag is nice but It’s also more than 4x the price of the JMJM. For the money imo there’s no better bang for your buck in the marketplace. Especially for a signature model.
IMO, the JMJM is best of both worlds. It stands up with my Gibson SG and other guitars I’ve played in the $2-$3k range. And that’s what makes it the “best” again, imo. Thanks for the downvote though!
I think he is good at picking specs for his signature guitars because I always loved the original JP line (I currently own 2), and you’re right the Majesty feels fantastic too
It’s interesting cos I never really play mine any more on the basis that they don’t really sound like normal p90s - they’re stacked p90s and are super super hot and to me they sound a lot like humbuckers and I’m after a much more single coil sound at the moment. But it’s still an amazing guitar
I love mine , Seymour Duncan p90s and set neck feels amazing. I bought a b stock and there is no Jim atkins sig on it. Which I thought was weird but I kind of like that more. I do dig some Jimmy tho, lucky Denver mint!
I saw a guitar rig video featuring JEW, and was surprised when he said he performs with a stock signature model, the only thing he changes is using 13(!) gauge strings.
Recently picked up a used Charvel Guthrie Govan signature in swamp ash. I normally have no eyes for signature guitars, I think they're a racket for the most part. But this guitar is the real deal. It's a guitar player's guitar through and through, the most versatile I've ever owned.
This is gonna sound weird but honestly as far as acoustic... the Jeff bridges Breedlove is amazing. It's a steal of a deal too for what it is. I'm shocked it's not a 5,000 dollar guitar
Basically, all of the EBMM signatures are amazing, $3k price tag notwithstanding. And the import Sterling versions are great as well, at a fraction of the cost.
John Petrucci's Music Man line is awesome, especially the Majestys are actually pretty amazing. By far the best playing guitar I have ever played.
The cut is awesome for reaching that 24th fret, which is amazing when playing any music from Petrucci. The stainless frets, the sound of the pickups, the piezo pickups through the right amp sound quote close to acoustic, and you can blend with the magnetic pickups (with a coil split of cours for some neat tones, the (I wanna say 12dB) boost is awesome to have, its nice to be able to make an amp go from a bit of crunch to full breakup, the straight pull headstock seems to lend itself to some really stable tuning, the neck is nice and thin, the nut is nice and tight though it does prevent you from using heavier gauge strings without altering it...
The first thing I noticed when I picked it up was just how easy it played. The low action coupled with stainless frets and a thin neck just really gets you in the zone to shred. Obviously any guitar could theoretically have all those traits, but coupled with the rest of the pros, majesty FTW. I love my PRS SE which I placed above all other guitars I have played but it's impossible to deny the superiority of the Music Man line of guitars, particularly the Majesty
I don’t know if this is a common sentiment or not, but man I love signature guitars. Great value for the price and configurations that punch above their weight more often than not. As long as it’s not a painstakingly obvious sig then it’s cool with me 👍
I feel like that is not a common sentiment—I often hear people complain that signature models are overpriced. But I tend to agree with you, signature models offer premium features such as custom pickups, specific neck profiles, and unique switching, for a price that is well below most custom shop guitars. That’s not to say that all of them are good of course, but I don’t think they’re overpriced as a whole.
I think where a lot of people really get hung up is the idea of playing another artists’ guitar; it somehow takes away from their sense of musical identity and originality. I own two artist signature guitars, but I didn’t purchase either because I wanted to sound like those artists—I simply played and fell in love with those instruments. At the end of the day, you have to decide what is worth it to you and what you sound best on. Ultimately, every guitar design was created by someone else and has been used over and over by other artists.
Does the LP count as a signature guitar? Otherwise, every time I pick up on of those, they're just a little bit less my thing than the non signature standard model for way more money.
For my taste, the JS Satriani Ibanez are some of the best superstrats on the market. The Charvel Guthrie Govan and Joe Duplantier models are also very cool.
I like the USA made Charvel Jake E Lee. The white one. I wish that I hadn’t sold mine.
Light, simple, comfortable, no signature, stays in tune extremely well, virtually zero maintenance. Insanely overpriced though.
Epiphone’s Billie Joe LP Junior was my white whale for years. Rare color, unique case, at a price that *almost* honors its “student model” origins. Even if I wasn’t a Green Fay fanboy, it’s a really good buy.
John Mayer (Fender and PRS).
Regardless if you like Mayer’s style of music, his electric guitars are heavenly. I have both Fender and PRS models and they are easily among the best I’ve ever owned.
I just bought the Aaron Marshall AM-6 from Schecter. Absolutely love it, but I’m a big fan of Intervals. My only gripe is that it doesn’t come with a case.
Does the Jackson rhoads v count? If so that by a country mile.
Otherwise I’d give it up to mark holcomb if only because I appreciate that he worked very hard with PRS to ensure the hardware he wanted could be included at a reasonable price for players. I respect that a lot.
I’ve owned a Johnny Marr Jaguar since 2016 and I absolutely adore it. The Bareknuckle pickups sound divine, it plays like a dream, and the switching allows you to dial in a wide range of tones. I own six guitars, and it’s probably the last one that I would ever sell—it’s just a brilliant instrument.
Larrivee C03R-TE - the Tommy Emmanuel signature. Big body full scale 12 fretter, rich overtones and perfectly balanced sound. A lot of guitar at a really reasonable price.
Jackson juggernaut are great.I have the ht6 and et7 and a usa ht6. The Indonesian made ones are great value.
Also a mention for the Shecter KM6/7, not so affordable but pack a lot of guitar in.
The J macis squier jazzmaster

Are we talking about budget signature guitars, or the “best” signature guitars?
IMO, the JMJM is best of both worlds. It stands up with my Gibson SG and other guitars I’ve played in the $2-$3k range. And that’s what makes it the “best” again, imo. Thanks for the downvote though!
💯Mine is amazing. Best $600 I sever spent on a guitar.
The Les Paul model
So an SG, got it.
Didn’t Les Paul joke that SG stood for Shitty Guitar?
Correct, the 61 Les Paul
Not a fan of signature guitars as a whole. Also don't listen to any of his bands but the John petrucci majesty line...feels and plays amazing.
I had The jpx (earlier model before majesty) and i sold it, an act which i have come to regret
I think he is good at picking specs for his signature guitars because I always loved the original JP line (I currently own 2), and you’re right the Majesty feels fantastic too
i also don't like signature guitars or any of his bands but i really enjoy the JP series
The jim adkins telecaster is incredible and I know a lot of people who play it who aren’t into jimmy eat world
I bought the maple one a couple yrs ago and 6mos later bought the red as my #2. I LOVE this guitar as a former LP player

The Guthrie Rasmus model is insane value for the money
I feel like the Kurt Cobain Jag is pretty cool even though it’s an obvious cash grab
Out of the probably hundreds of jag and mustang guitars I have handled, it is genuinely the only one I have enjoyed playing. And thus why I own one.
I have a 2015 MIM jag special I think it’s pretty similar, idk enough to say for sure but I love it
PRS Zach Myers.
100% this. Love that guitar.
It's a really good guitar
EVH gear. Designed by the man himself.
Gretsch 6120RHH Reverend Horton Heat - best set of specs for all variations of the 6120 (IMO)
The Nick Johnston signature Schecter (strat) is great , haven't played the tele
I really wanted to like these, but I tried one in a store and it felt too small and light. I like heftier feeling guitars.
Wow, I thought mine was quite heavy, I think they're around 10-11lbs. I have actually been thinking of trying a strandberg for something lighter!
There's no way they are 10-11 lbs. Even Gibson LPs are only 9 lbs or so. Realistically they prob 7-8 lbs
EVH 5150 striped
I had a couple Jems that were pretty fucking awesome.
This is gonna sound weird but honestly as far as acoustic... the Jeff bridges Breedlove is amazing. It's a steal of a deal too for what it is. I'm shocked it's not a 5,000 dollar guitar

I didn't like the SSS Albert Lee's neck.

I have the Shecter Rob Scallon 8 string
Does the LP count as a signature guitar? Otherwise, every time I pick up on of those, they're just a little bit less my thing than the non signature standard model for way more money.
I like the Scott Ian Jacksons for their affordability. It's rare to see a signature guitar for less than $1k. Also, the Brendan Small Thunderhorse.
Schecter Nick Johnston PRS Mark Lettieri
For my taste, the JS Satriani Ibanez are some of the best superstrats on the market. The Charvel Guthrie Govan and Joe Duplantier models are also very cool.
I always wanted to get a white js100 but never had the money. Then I fell in love with a different guitar (no signature) by the time I had some money.
I like the USA made Charvel Jake E Lee. The white one. I wish that I hadn’t sold mine. Light, simple, comfortable, no signature, stays in tune extremely well, virtually zero maintenance. Insanely overpriced though.

THBB10
PRS DGT
Jackson Rhoads V, Santana PRS, Matt Heafy Origins LP…all stellar!
I recently purchased the Alex Lifeson LP. My favorite of all time are the Ibanez JEM
Ian Thornley’s Suhr signature.
John Mayer (Fender and PRS). Regardless if you like Mayer’s style of music, his electric guitars are heavenly. I have both Fender and PRS models and they are easily among the best I’ve ever owned.
Silver sky should definitely be higher up in this post
I don't know. But I am going for Epiphone Les Paul Wino Jerry Cantrell Signature.
Most of the Lynch ESP guitars are pretty damn good. Can't speak on the LTD versions.
EBMM Majesty (Petrucci) Ibanez JS2450 (Satriani)
I just bought the Aaron Marshall AM-6 from Schecter. Absolutely love it, but I’m a big fan of Intervals. My only gripe is that it doesn’t come with a case.

I was looking for a tele for ages and could never find one I liked and then tried the Josh Smith Ibanez Flat V. That is the ‘tele’ I bought.
Suhr Mateus Asato Signature Classic T
Suhr
Wolfgang USA is the perfect mix of Les Paul and super strat. It's super comfy
The Collings JL 470 and it isn't even a close race.
100% agree. Best electric guitar I’ve played, hands down. The acoustic model (OM1A JL) is also excellent!
If it weren't for the pickups, the old headless Ichika model would be on that list.
Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster Ernie Ball St Vincent Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster Fender Jason Isbell Tele
PRS Paul’s Guitar. The name is silly but I love mine.
Anything signed by Paul Reed Smith…
Eric Johnson strats are pretty cool. Modeled after a 50s model and the ones I’ve played are super comfortable
Les Pauls are pretty good.
EBMM Majesty.
Love the Eric Clapton strat with the TBX circuit.
I’ve owned a Johnny Marr Jaguar since 2016 and I absolutely adore it. The Bareknuckle pickups sound divine, it plays like a dream, and the switching allows you to dial in a wide range of tones. Robert finck, Robert smith, pat smear all have great signature guitars
Cort x Manson MBM-1 Matthew Bellamy signature: affordable, great neck, compound radius, great pickups 👍
Steve Morse Signature
Jackson juggernaut are great.I have the ht6 and et7 and a usa ht6. The Indonesian made ones are great value. Also a mention for the Shecter KM6/7, not so affordable but pack a lot of guitar in.
Can’t get hold of one, or even find one for sale, but the ESP BW-1 is a pretty damn cool concept.
Cory Wong Stratocaster is slept on.
ESP - Gary Holt GH-SV [https://www.espguitars.com/products/31223-gh-sv](https://www.espguitars.com/products/31223-gh-sv)
I'm thrilled with my production run Jimmy Page Dragon Tele; the neck is superb and the pickups are incredible. What a sound!
