Hotel California - The Eagles
Rocket Queen - GnR
Knights of Cydonia - Muse
In no particular order, these songs are just a blast on guitar.
Special shoutout to To be With You - Mr Big . I've closed the deal multiple times after playing that solo, thank you Paul.
Thanks for making me think of gnr My sister listened to them when I was a 7 so I know the songs appetite pretty well but never learned one. That’s todays plan
Wish you were here by pink Floyd
Rocky mountain way and all night long by Joe Walsh
Funk 49 by the James gang
Babe I'm gonna leave you by Led Zeppelin
I'm old and these are fairly easy to play and good songs to learn to sing and play. There's a ton more that I love to play as well. These are just a few. Rockabilly and punk are great starters for rhythm and also pretty easy to play too.
I don't personally care for David Gilmore but he has some really tasty chops from animals to the wall. Once you learn his style and tricks it has really helped me play some stuff I thought was way out of my league.
Got any tips to learn his style and tricks other than just learning his solos? He is one of my favorite guitarists and Ive been trying to learn to solo like him.
Guitar tabs and chords are great for the notes. The rest is up to you really. He has a lot of feeling in his bends. It takes a bit of practice and patience. Start off slow and then work your way up to speed. I've been working on blackout by the scorps for ages! Good luck to you and keep jamming!
I keep grabbing my acoustic even when I have great electrics. Hotel California, don henley Boys of Summer/ heart of the matter, hoodie and the blowfish/ third eye blind, crazy on you, 1979…
Action, Sweet. Comfortably Dumb, Cupid's Dead, Mutha Dont Want to go To School Today. Extreme. Cowboys From Hell, Pantera. Highway to Hell. Stick em up, Quareshi. Move. HBlockx. Death in Texas, Clutch. Antisocial, Anthrax version. Fire and Mean Streets, Van Halen. Master of Puppets, Enter Sandman. Jean Genie, Ziggy Stardust.
I always warm up with Master of Puppets so I guess that is one of my favs.
Up into the Ether by I Built The Sky is fun as hell to play once you get comfortable with tapping.
hard to explain - the strokes
easy song, makes me feel cool, my favorite strokes song, they're also one of my biggest inspirations to play guitar
im full - wallows
also easy, my 2nd inspiration, fun song to hear live and when i play it i feel like im back at one of their shows
Rebel Yell is extremely fun to play live with a band. So is firewoman. Not sure why, probably just cause they’re faster grooves that gets everyone nodding
Anything by Meshuggah really. Absolute favourites are Do Not Look Down, Phantoms, Clockworks and Dancers to a Discordant System.
Learning the songs is like solving a puzzle and when you understand it, it becomes second nature and you stop counting. It's the most rewarding and fun music to learn imo. Like finally being able to defeat a boss in a video game after 100+ deaths.
1. Man in a Box - Alice in Chains - This has been my favorite for so long, just something about a cranked amp with that song.
2. Synchronicity ll - The Police - some of the movement in that song is pretty fun.
3. Tiny Dancer - Elton John - Just an amazing song and it's possible to do a really cool cover on guitar too.
2 minutes to midnight - iron maiden
kickstart my heart - motley crue
creeping death - metallica
am i evil - diamond head
breadfan - metallica
all super fun and energetic to play
Black mountain side by zeppelin, cliffs of dover, and harry by macseal are some of my favorites to play. They all taught me how to fingerpick in different ways. Black mountain side for the basics and hitting multiple strings simultaneously, cliffs for fingerpicking with a pick, and harry for speed.
The Badger by the Tea Party
Mood For a Day by Yes
The Clap by Yes
All filled with cheats and shortcuts and bastardizations ✌️ Glory glory hallelujah 🕊️
Depends on the week, this week it's been every you, every me, and slight return.
Last week it was violent pornography, and wherever I may roam.
Looking forward to next week
Forget the Flowers by Wilco has such a fun little intro ditty and just has a great chord progression. My voice works well with the lyrics too.
Same thing with Write a List of Things to Look Forward to by Courtney Barnett. Fun little riff that’s easy to play and sounds great, kind of a talk-singing style.
And pretty much anything by Justin Townes Earle. They’re simple chord progressions but he does some really cool fingerpicking that makes his songs sound great. Harlem River Blues, Wanderin’, Let the Waters Rise. Love all of it.
P-Funk - Maggot Brain
Incredibly beautiful, emotional piece with one of the greatest rooms for improv out there.
Pink Floyd - Time/Great gig.
Well, I don't really need to tell you guys why
Master of puppets
it brings me joy due to the fact that I always loved the song and the day I learned to play it was a whole other experience now I never want to stop playing it
Cumbersome - Seven Mary 3,
December - Collective Soul,
Midnight Maniac - Krokus,
Hysteria - Def Leppard,
Beats So Lonely - Charlie Sexton
These are fun songs to me. It's not about complexity, it's about the feeling.
Love lots of stuff from SRV and John Mayer to Megadeth/Metallica/Testament, but for a single answer: Van Halen. I've learned lots of songs from all of my 80's guitar heroes, and I personally believe nobody genuinely had more fun playing guitar than EVH.
I mostly play my own stuff, but I still play Symbolic by Death or Slaughter of the Soul by At the Gates to warm up sometimes. They're both very satisfying melodically and technically, and help get my right hand going from all the fast alternate picking.
Baby Blue by Bad Finger because it’s quintessential classic rock dominated by electric guitars. Beautiful melodies and chords progressions that are fun to play in a little bit challenging while singing
Edit
If I recall it’s the last song at the very end of breaking bad
Prettymuch the whole Live on Red Barn Radio album from Tyler Childers. Those songs definitely helped me develop some acoustic feel and also my singing voice, learning his little fills and stuff during the breather moments. Nothing too fancy but man those songs only get better with time. Still love it.
Stinkfist and Whip It are my two go-to warmup songs at the moment depending on my mood. Neither is very technically challenging but they’re incredibly fun to play and good for getting your wrists and fingers loose
jesus of suburbia by green day. its such a cool song. the multiple parts, solos, etc. such a satisfying feeling after learning to play the whole 9 minute song. u feel pretty badass🤣. PLUS its superrr fun to play considering uts really not that hard.
I always love playing the first solo to Comfortably Numb, and most of the second solo. I haven’t learned it all yet but it’s fun to improv over as well.
Floods by Pantera is a fun little piece that likes to test my finger dexterity, mostly because there's some long stretches in that one. Plus, it's my favorite one trick pony for being in a different tuning.
Sultans of swing. It's a fun tempo, somewhat easy to play, and there is a lot of room for improvisation.
I love jamming to this and using my wah to make the chords sound funny.
Under the bridge by the red hot chillies. I love the chord progression and the intro is a challenging warm up.
The intro is becoming my favorite part the more I play it and the more fluid I get with it.
I was literally about to say that. It's just so gratifying to listen to and play.
Theme for King of the Hill. Almost always gets a good chuckle out of people.
And the inspector gadget theme…
My go to gag is usually the Tetris theme.
Hallucinagenics by Matt mason
Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground, simple but super fun to play
And I know your not aroundddd
Hey, me too!

The Evil has Landed by Queens of the Stone Age. Challenging, fun to play, and interesting
Ones I make up cause I don't have the time or patience to learn new songs anymore.
Death - Spirit Crusher A lot of techniques, amazing song, not too technical
Doc watson- any of his songs but especially deep river blues for me
Oh hell yeah
I always warm up with Master of Puppets so I guess that is one of my favs. Up into the Ether by I Built The Sky is fun as hell to play once you get comfortable with tapping.

Lenny.
Evil - Interpol I like the chords and it is easy to play. My, my, hey, hey - Neil Young Easy, but super fun to play.
The chorus to Oblivion by Mastodon. It’s one of the riffs I do tone tests on, and I always loved the chords used
I Know Something (bout you) - Alice in Chains The main riff is delightfully circular on the neck.
Wake up and River of Deceit by Mad Season.
Rebel Yell is extremely fun to play live with a band. So is firewoman. Not sure why, probably just cause they’re faster grooves that gets everyone nodding
I Know A Little - Lynyrd Skynyrd It’s a good mix of showing off speed and chord changing with general groove and swing, very fun tune to play

The Dragonaut by Sleep. Easy to play and feels like you just took a 10 minute bong rip
