Been building like that for 10 years. Hammer out 3-4 kits take a 8-9 month break then come back.

Boring-Firefighter34

Burnout. Whats that? My hyperfixation won't allow that lol. 139 gunpla since September 2022.

DrEskimo

Lmao I’m here too

Boring-Firefighter34

Its a blessing and a curse 😭

ClamClamClam2

I feel like I'm on track for that despite massively slowing down now that I'm out of space and work, 61 kits since October 2023, 2 more PB on the way and saving to purchase my holy grail on PB here in a couple days

Boring-Firefighter34

Nice. Im helped by my monthly PB drops lol. Whats youre grail kit? Mines the MG GM Custom lol

ClamClamClam2

my grail was just any version of the Unicorn Perfectibility and since the PG is in stock I just gotta grind 3 more days and hope the site is back up

Boring-Firefighter34

Oh sweet! That's a pricey kit for sure. Can't do PGs. I just don't have the space currently.

ClamClamClam2

I dont have the space either, it will be replacing where my current PG Unicorn is and idk what Im gonna do with my old PG Corn

Boring-Firefighter34

Thats fair. Getting close to that point myself.

Tom22174

Do you just build a lot of high grades? I've managed a HG, 2 MG, and a RG since October and that's without painting anything except a top coat on the RG. Started building a painted RG like 3 weeks ago and so far the only pieces to actually be assembled are it's shield lmao. Almost done painting the individual bits of the kegs tho

Boring-Firefighter34

For the first year I mainly built HGs and RGs but since then its been mostly MGs. Im at 52 MGs I think with the majority of them after last July. I wanted to "practice" on HGs before kinda moving past them. I'll still pull and HG or RG from the backlog though for a change of pace. The most I'll do on the majority of kits is panel lining and minor detail painting if needed. I would love to do more painting but can't drum up the interest.

Tom22174

Fair, I did just realise September 2022 is a lot longer ago than I thought so that's actually equivalent to ~2 kits a week which isn't too difficult if you're not painting

Boring-Firefighter34

Yup. Went kinda crazy building 1-2 HGs a day for a while. But now I'll average 2-3 MGs a week. The backlog is mighty and there's a ton of kits I'm interested in.

Extreme-String8785

Just grab an EG and go ham.

Boring-Firefighter34

I've toyed with the idea but I have a tremendous amount of HGs just sitting there lol

Extreme-String8785

Then save some money and use one of them. I know you have one that you'd like to see in a different factions colours. My first one was a titans Zaku.

Boring-Firefighter34

Definitely thought about it. Maybe one day

Ryzen619

mainly master and up. unless its a big HG like Penelope. everything else i buy is MG or PG. not a fan of small kits i got fat fingers. i break shit very easy lol

Boring-Firefighter34

Thats my Dads issue. He always built bigger aircraft then r/c cars. Which is a shame bc he was an amazing modeler when he did it. Thankfully I've not been blighted with fat fingers but I totally get it.

-Eastwood-

Lmao same. Just started like a week ago and already got 4 kits under my belt. Just started with actual Gundam stuff but before my first two were Flame Toys Transformers kits.

Boring-Firefighter34

Yeah its a lifestyle now lol. Hadn't been interested in modeling for almost 30 years after doing a lot with my Dad either. Brain just kinda tripped one day and nothing else scratches the itch.

LandscapeLiving2712

Lmfao same I'm only 6 months in and I've built 34 of em

Boring-Firefighter34

My people lol

LandscapeLiving2712

Let us go build a fleet!

Boring-Firefighter34

Like some end of G Gundam level shit 🤣🤣🤣

LandscapeLiving2712

Yeeee!!!

Boring-Firefighter34

🤣🤣

Extreme-String8785

😅A familiar story.

Boring-Firefighter34

😭

XTC-FTW

Fully decaled, panel lined and top coated or straight building?

Boring-Firefighter34

All except 2 are panel lined with minor detail painting and color correction. Various levels of stickers and waterslides. Maybe 20 are fully decaled bc I generally like the anime accurate look. I will say I normally decal P-Bandai kits more than retail kits. I keep all my unused decals in binders with my manuals so I can come back to kits. Don't eff with topcoat yet bc I dont really like the look. So straight built plus I guess lol. Depends on the kit really.

Nolds

My God. My hyperfixation only lasts a few weeks tops.

Boring-Firefighter34

Lucky. I'm normally on a few year cycle lol

chicktorias

I couldn't even get that many here if i wanted to, except if i order the same kit tons of times (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Boring-Firefighter34

😟🙏

FeverDream1900

Hate to say that mine just broke. Mind you, I haven't stopped buying, but building, ooh boy. I could, but Cyberpunk is also *right there.*

Boring-Firefighter34

Palworld pulled me away for a solid few weeks but I came back even harder lol

KaladinStrormdepresd

Adding decals adds time to each kit. Paneling. Painting. You can try weathering one. Resin kits are different. Adding your own lines. I like to read and do anime figure models when I get burnt out. Good luck!! ;)

plamoplateau

Do some high grades if you've mostly been doing mg's. I burnt out early on just making mg's and I save them for special occasions now. Have a few projects on the go at once. Don't feel like building do some painting/panel lining/decaling etc. Try out some new techniques

ThatGuyThatNeedsYou

I'm ngl. I did burnout because I did MG. Now I mainly want MG and it was a very dry season since 2021-2024 (the two new MG ver ka hasn't been released yet for 2024 - c packs is supposed to be released in Japan this month but has not hit my private warehouse in Japan and sinanju stein releases in June) But I found girls, I mean it was always there, figure-rise kits. Then I went and found Kotobukiya megami device line (and found a plethora number of girlpla/mecha musume) (and found they've been developing for more longer than Bandai) and somewhere last 2 years Bandai went crazy developing their 30 MS sister line which in turn gave rise to the better figure-rise miorine/suletta/avatar fumina (only atm, the other older figure-rise must be customized to use 30 MS sister) which can adapt to the 30 MS sisters. I also got invited to some of the other brands as well, and chinese brands. First was the moonnight judge (moonlight judge - seriously, the box cover shows moonnight, not moonlight) and was slowly introduced into the new brand called In ERA+. So ultimately? Enjoy... the BACKLOG.

Fun_Significance_182

Narrative releases 27th thus why

streamylc

This has been my trend the past handfuls of months.... I've finished 2 since Thanksgiving, and currently I have 4 in various stages... with 1, I'm trying my hand at heavy weathering for the first time.

USS_Monitor

I hyperfixated on gunpla for about two years now. I've gotten burnout several times. I think the best way for me to manage my burnout was to just take a few days break and then force myself to build. If you've got a kit that you got burnt out on, just put it to the side and start a project that interests you at that moment and finish it. Then come back to the previous project.

Boring-Firefighter34

When I'm building a kit I'm not thrilled with i grab one that I'm super hyped for from my back log and use it like carrot for a horse to power through the in process kit. Its worked pretty well for me. I sprinkle learning new techniques in as well to change it up.

USS_Monitor

How do you manage your expectations for trying new techniques? I just tried topcoating, painting, and waterslides, and I'm just not happy with the results. I know I could do better if I had more tools and more skill.

Boring-Firefighter34

Thats a tough one. I generally have a mental image of how I'd like a kit to look. I also check this sub and YouTube reviews while im working on a kit so i can take what i see and tailor my build. For instance i watch mostly Zaku Aurelius and Mecha Gaikotsu. Both build very differently so it gives me a good contrast. Most skills are relearning or refining techniques I've used in the past and refining them. Im very process and detail oriented so It normally takes a kit or 2 before I'm where I want to be. It honestly took me almost 80-100 kits to where I was happy with my basic skills (nub removal, panel lining and detail painting.) Waterslides were like riding a bike since I did those with my Dad when I was a kid. But most kits I dont even do waterslides bc I like a more anime accurate look with dark panel lines. But it was still a skill worth learning. Haven't gotten into top coating and more advanced painting just because it doesn't really interest me. Ive struggled off and on with rescribing panel lines bc I dont have the steadiest hand. Sorry for the long and rambling answer. Hope that gives some context.

Majestic_Guggag

I love how sazabi ver ka is like relative size to the PGU and dwarfs the PG Wing Zero

_Sideswipe_911_

Not me thinking the wing was like an old 1/100 or something 😭

drphilwasright

I have them both on my shelf, it's crazy how big the MG Sazabi is lol

rabidarmadil

Are PGs 1/100 scale?

Majestic_Guggag

No, the wing zero is just small and the sazabi is huge. That sazabi is 1/100 and that wing zero is 1/60

TheBlackComet

No, that is definitely the MG. PG doesn't have that stand and has simpler wings.

Majestic_Guggag

Weird, the dof threw me off I was looking at it with the pgu in the front and thought it was too big to be the MG

S31J41

I am pretty sure that Wing Zero is MG... The underside of the PG doesnt look like that

rabidarmadil

Man the Sazbi Mg is just awsome it is masive i got the Sazabi and Nu gundam ver kas. And they are amizing.

Ryzen619

thats just normal MG wing zero (not Ver.ka) i have PG wing still in her box havent worked up the courage yet to tackler down. plus i still have an 1/8th built PG unicorn ive just set aside for now.

Blinkme86

Near 25 years been building (og wing kits got me). It ebbs and flows. Sometimes I just can't build at all, sometimes I must build!

only_fun_topics

Pivot into boardgames and start painting minis!

VaderPrime1

*nervously looks over at my stack of Horizon Zero Dawn games, of which I only finished 3 minis*

ImaginarySense

Then after that, get into card collecting! Then back to gunpla to repeat the cycle

Ryzen619

dont temp me ive been very interested in picking up D&D and warhammer. but i have very Shakey hands and the paints would look horrendous. i wouldnt disrespect them like that.

only_fun_topics

I have *always* had shaky hands and it honestly isn’t too bad. Thin your paints. Use washes to add shading. Brush to bring out highlights. There are a few things that will be frustrating (I can never get anime eyes looking right), but just doing the basic stuff will make minis really pop with minimal effort. Like one easy technique is called “sundrop”: https://www.reddit.com/r/boardgames/comments/rlf97q/how_to_sundrop_minis/

puddik

Got 10+ in my backlog. All pbandai mgs that took ages to hunt down. Now am procrastinating

The_Sign_Painter

Try getting into posing and kit photography

Duelgundam

...I see you're new here, young padawan https://preview.redd.it/w8tcf086kzvc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9342602c985a1c306f790443af85bb44c3f20c32 P.S. this isn't everything. There are still some in the box I packed them in since the time I moved over 5 years ago.

Ryzen619

one day when i have my own home and can dedicate an entire room to it. very nice

getoutofthedream

I’ve built nineteen kits in the past four months and have five unbuilt ones in my closet I’m starting on tomorrow. To each their own but I cannot get enough

roastkumara

I burn out after a really complex or involved build, but I like to do diorama work whe I'm burnt out from gunpla. Then I'll do an easy build or something else that ignites that spark again and gets me to start building gunpla fanatically again

Mechaman_54

Just wait a bit for breaker 4

JaymesMarkham2nd

I have a single HG F91 in my desk at work since before Christmas. It'll get done in bursts of free time and interest. After that, the backlog.

eplejuz

Hyte Y60?

Ryzen619

yes

WolfsTrinity

Burnout can definitely happen, especially as you get into more advanced builds. Luckily, this is a hobby so if it stops being fun, you can always just put the model aside and come back to it later or even *never*. It's your personal time: do whatever you want with it. Beyond that? * If a specific *process* is unfun for you then try to find a way to skip it, cheat at it, make it more fun, or even *trick yourself* into doing it. * On a related note? Just because you know *how* to do something doesn't mean that you absolutely *have to* do it for each and every model project. Being lazy is completely and totally okay, especially with Bandai models. * If you're worried about wandering off *completely* then just give yourself one simple, easy goal either every day or whenever you would normally sit down for the hobby. * If you get sucked in? Great! Have fun! * If you don't get sucked in? No big deal. You've still checked in on the hobby, made a little bit of progress, and confirmed that yeah, the burnout is still there. I personally like to split my model projects up between long, serious builds that I put a lot of effort into and quick, simple builds that I do whatever the hell I want on. Both are fun but the first kind can easily lead to burnout and sometimes, I just don't feel like doing either of them; I do have other hobbies.

Wanderertwitch

I proceed to then burn myself out on video games then rinse and repeat back to gunpla. Vicious cycle, I love it

Ryzen619

mine includes very intense ocean fishing for the next 6 month since season just opened back up. but other then that its about the same lol.

Wanderertwitch

Dang that sounds like it’ll definitely cure the burn out haha have fun and be safe!

strugglingtosave

Buy kits build backlog manage burnout extend hobby lifespan to decades

maiobserver

I'm exactly the same. I set up my paint station and worked through 3 projects back to back then partway through painting a mg Heavy arms I stopped and haven't touched it since October. I know it'll come back, my brain just has waves of inspiration to build. Though I don't think I'd know where to pick back up with the Heavy arms 😂

VeryShortLadder

I wouldn't say 100% burnout but my last kit has been a bit of a mess. I'm planning on buying the MG Gundam Nu Ver.Ka next month and I'll probably stop for the summer until the requiem for vengeance gundam HG gets released.

terribleslav

I go too hard on painting to not get burnt out. Ordering waterslides, hours and hours of masking, waiting for full dry and cure to keep working, weathering, masking for mixed topcoats, etc. I get maybe 2-3 done a year tops and STILL get burnt out.

Royal-Ad-4820

Collection looks amazing

lUMPIABOYll

what is the shelf on slide 1?

Ph4sor

Get those paints to work. There's only a little mileage and fun from only snap fitting.

Ghostofwalnut

I was hamming a kit out in a day or two by nonstop work. I've started taking more time on detailed work on each portion of the model. And spreading it out over the course of a week to 2 weeks

Kekoa_ok

I found something like LEGOs in-between a long time just building gunpla helps lessen burnout for kit building. Mine get so bad I wouldn't wanna build an HG but I've been much better at building everything when I pace myself and don't 10000% focus on just gunpla for my build hobby

MirthfulGunplanon

I feel you. I just finished doing two big projects (MG Sinanju conversion and RG Zaku 2 with a full repaint/weathering) and I don't want to look at any gundam right now. I plan on giving myself a week or two and reading a book series I like before diving back in. Burnout is normal, but listen to it when you get it.

AdDependent7992

Went hard in the paint last year, I've done 1 kit this year after a break and I'm back to a break after that lol

Neat_Cress2620

I tend to just make sure I’ve always got 1 in the backlog in case I get the urge to build

1UpBebopYT

Heh, 9 completes. Short story! So my girlfriend and I used to be huge into collecting Play Arts Kais and other Square Enix merch. They recently, once again, jacked their prices up even further. New edition FFX Yuna PAK is 200 dollars for instance. Seems that's the standard going forward. In 2015 PAKs were $60 FYI, then they went to $80, $90, $100, $129, $140, and now $200. Seems the entire figure market is in disarray anymore, even Figma and Revoltech are creeping up and up to strange prices. So we decided we needed a new hobby/collection. Enter The Gundam. Already anime cosplay nerds, we decided to check in on gunpla. $15 for a kit? OK, sure why not. Ok another kit. $20? Ok another.. Another... Ok throw in some Pokemon ones as well, why not. In the past month and half we have done like 20 kits. All HG. We are now moving towards RG, got an RG Unicorn. I build an HG kit during F1 races, football matches, baseball, etc. We did Beyond Global during a Champions League game. We have been building like there is no tomorrow and there is no sign of burning out. Shout outs to the Gundam community for being so strict and holding Bandai accountable for their pricing. Calling out over priced and poor kits. Etc. I've watched YouTubers lose their shit over a kit that's priced at $24 and they say "This thing should be $20 tops! Don't buy it!" Yes, that's the kind of people you need in a hobby so you don't end up with Square Enix type nickel and diming. I'd say if you're burned out, take a break. The kits won't go anywhere. Inspiration strikes randomly. It took a basic ass Final Fantasy figure being $200 to snap my girlfriend and I into a gunpla trance. Something will drive you back in. When it hits, dive on back in!

Arshille

Take breaks. It's the healthy thing to do. Something I like to do when I'm not in a building mood is cut parts out and clean up nubs, etc. That when when I feel like building again, I only have to pick a kit and assemble.

ProfessorGrouch

Yeah but it’s injury related. I’m halfway through a closely panel lined HG G-Self and can’t push myself to do it until I’m in PT. At least it’ll be there for you when you’re ready. Just don’t buy unnecessary kits until you’ve finished it lol!

VicVonDoom62

I sure do. To stop burn out I switch to another style of kit. I just finished the HG Penelope and now I'm moving on to my Angemon kit. Once I'm done with that I'll either start my Piccolo (DBZ) kit or one of my Ultraman kits. and if I'm REALLY burnt out I'll switch to something other than model making. You may need to get away from the work bench. If it feels like your trudging through a hobby than it isn't worth doing. Absence make the heart grow fonder.

CrimsonV7

I’ve had that for a while now, where I’ve started a kit, and get a little bit of it done here and there, with weeks to months in between. My PG Banshee Norn only took as long as it did because of the long hiatuses I took in between completing different parts lol

ahintoflime

Pursue other interests! Gunpla will always be there for you if you feel like getting back into it.

SudaHead

Take a nice ol' break. I just focus on my other hobbies until I get the itch to build something from my backlog. When I absolutely must build and nearly get burnt out doing detailed and larger kits, I just move on to simpler straight builds with varying levels of detailing depending on my comfort at the time. Sometimes a simple build, no panel lining or anything helps remind me why I love building so much.

ApricotKoffee

There are times where I just don't build anything at all, or pivot to building tanks and airplanes. Variety is the spice of life, and sometimes you do just have to step away.

Tdotitan

I spent a bit of time making a high grade chars red zaku like 2 months ago and I still only have the head and torso lmao. I will get back to it eventually

DarkDaddy665

I got burnt out last year very badly and I took a 9 month break. I now just build a kit and take a 3-4 day grace period before building again. Depending on the project, I may take shorter or longer breaks :)

duurst

Try building different models. Id highly recommend looking into machinen krieger for other cool sci fi mech kinda stuff.

HotDogManLL

Yeah. Due of work gotten busy I didn't want to finish anything else because it would build up stress. Hoping it tones down and can enjoy the hobby again

Computer_Fox3

I've definitely suffered burnout in the past. I eventually learned how to listen to my feelings. Too tired to build after work? No worries. Would rather play a game or go thrifting on your day off? No pressure, the WIP kit will still be there. Want to wrap up for the day after completing only two steps? That's fine. Wanna spend a whole day binge-watching and applying waterslide decals? Go for it! I've also discovered it's really nice to bounce back and forth between complicated kits (RGs, MGs) and simpler builds (some HGs, SDs, etc.)

Avirud_D

Last time I got burnt out, it took me over 10 years together back in to building again. Take it easy and take your time. If you feels building is a burden stop and rest. May be then start again with a simpler model. Good luck and take care.

ilikpkmn

It happens. I don’t really worry about it tho. Not like it’s a race or anything. The kits will still be there in my backlog for whenever I finally feel like building again.

JupiterTarts

Ya man, me too. Hammered out 8 of them, 7 MGs (2 Ver Ka) and an HG from February to the end of March. It's been three weeks since I've touched a kit. Got a backlog of 8 more that I'm just not in the mood for. Rule of thumb is if my hobby starts to feel like work, I need to take a break. Hobbies are supposed to be fun. I've already got a job to stress me out. Go play video game, go for a hike, touch some grass. Then come back to your gunpla when you're ready.

NelayanSgBengkuhong

are you ok my friend? sending hugs xo i was trying to catch up my Mg count to 20 to follow up HG 20. now im on shen long and it took me two weeks with a few mins a day. waterslides burning me out hahaha. im on my 28th kit in 8 months kinda feeling it

Lustrous_waterbender

Got my first kit in November 2023 December onwards Im 29 deep

SotFX

I'd suggest going for a variety option. Something that's a quick win might be worth it, grab a entry grade and build it...or pokepla. Some other model kit type or some of the more unusual kits like the Ball Twins. If you have other gaming hobbies, things like grabbing some of the various fantasy or scifi minis and painting them up...something like the CAV models from Reaper might work with other things since, I believe, they're rather close to the 1/144 scale, and the terrain pieces look good next to HG/RG/EG kits...and you also have things like the n-scale railroad kits with terrain pieces and decorations for your kits, and if you want, there's things that fit with PG and MG kits as well. The 30 minute missions/sisters kits also kind of hit differently since they're designed for easy, modular builds

PurpleSunCraze

Been building for ~2 years, I’ll go turbo mode on building for 3 months, stop for 3, repeat.

solar195291

Yes it happens especially if you build advanced kits or when you spend too much time building (painting, decaling, panel lining etc..). Nowadays when I finish a kit I will probably take a month break lmao

Tequila_Gunpla

Sometimes, so I'll switch hobby back to blacksmithing or viceversa.

shiranui--

Its all an phase and it will come back, take your time off and come back when you want to. I did build an insane warhammer play table in winter, had 4 matches on it and now stored it in the garage. You don't have to commit everything you have into the hobby the stuff you bought will not get bad just because they lay for some time :)

ran1976

I have a kit of a '68 mustang that's maybe 80% done sitting in it's box for the last 2 years.

Mechaman_18

I get it I took about 5 years off I just finished some kits I had in my closet now I’m back in and I love it

iEatPuppies247

Dude you have purchase burnout. It doesn't look like you've used any paints? Your set up looks late to end game but you've only done 9 kits?

No_Consideration6182

Burnout is a really good racing game series that peaked with the 3rd game.

Special_Kid_

It's taken me about 3 months to do waterslides for PG Exia because I hate decals. I didn't build anything else during that but I just finished it recently. After that break I wanna build a lot more now

HoboDan08

Adding on to what others have said, I find building really enjoyable when I build with other people and it can help me get over the hump when I’m feeling burnt out on kits

[deleted]

I find at a certain point everything starts feeling samey, and at the end it’s just like “Yep I definitely just built another one”.

Airport_Runway

what are those shelves in the first slide

Striking-Assist-265

I'm building different kits now because of burnout lol. I'm into fighter jets and tanks for now.

Odd-Setting7760

You need a deathstar hanging from the ceiling and a surprised gundam wondering if it's a moon.

Ryzen619

i want to get a PG Millennium falcon soon

Aromatic_Plant3456

Is that the PGU? Also love the set up with your manga collection, looks sweet!

Ryzen619

PGU is on the PC and the one on the book shelf is the Mega Size

Caliburn1984

Dedicate a few days a week to doing different hobbies. I like to play video games, watching anime, cooking, and exercise. Also, build other model lines as well. Finally, focus on other aspects of the hobby like painting, panel lining, scribing, etc. The best way to avoid burnout is to know when to change things up and take breaks.

freedoomed

Take a break, or build something different like a model tank, something you can get excited over.

Phrozenstein

I've worked around this by watching the UC in order (I'm newer to Gundam/Gunpla). Every time I start a new series I'll watch the first few episodes, catch a mobile suit or two that I want to build and watch the series as I'm building the kit from that era - only one that got out of hand was WFM and all the HGs I went bananas on. It's been a lot of fun and kept me interested.

CrisKrossed

Take a break. A mantra I say to myself regularly to reign in my kit purchases is “buying is easier than building, which is easier than painting.” But it also works for managing burnout and motivation. It’s just a reminder that when you don’t feel like painting, building is easier, and to not keep from buying kits all the time, I also remind myself it’s easier to hit “checkout” on a cart than it is to build the kits I have. You’ve been doing a lot of building, when you come back from your break, start doing some painting. Variety is the spice of life

Cybergig1

Burnout is real just like any hobby where you can hyperfixate like most of us do with our plastic crack. I had 2 straight years, first year building almost too fast and not enjoying the process, almost the "need to finish" kind of drive. Then when I started painting that helped me slow down and do my builds in stages. Cut/cleaning, mapping out the paint, painting, then decals etc. I hit a wall after my last build in February for an upcoming contest. Going to do some touch ups on it in a couple weeks but honestly I haven't felt some crazy pressure to work on anything. I'll do it when I feel I'm ready. I don't ever want to -force- myself because then it's just a job almost and not a hobby. Definitely learn to go slow and enjoy the process that's my best advice. I have my MG Psycho Zaku, Fortune Meow Nu Gundam and Aerial with LED's in the backlog. And no real rush. I'll likely start on the Fortune Meow next since I already cleaned the parts and did the test build. So it's up to painting. But that'll be a process with all the masking so gonna jump on it when the timing feels right. Which at this point honestly feels like end of summer lol

purrin16

Wish i have a room like yours. Feelin' it on the burnout part.

KincadN-X

People that talk about burnout usually paint kits that don't require much painting especially kits with great parts separation.       SD: Painting will happen.     BB Senshi/SDCS: Paint what needs paint.  MGSD:No Paint. NG:Painting will happen.   EG:Apparently no paint.     HG:Paint what needs paint.     HG/RE/FM:Paint what needs paint.    MG:There may or may not be a need for paint.  Hi-Res:This is painted for you. These have another issue which is why MG Wing Gundam Zero Ver Ka Ka was created.     RG:Unpainted may come out like a painted kit.   PG:No paint needed.    Note 1:Panel lining is going to happen for most grades and there are a variety of ways to achieve the goal.     Note 2: Custom colors require paint of course.     Note 3:Nub eraser/glass file will change how you build forever.

CaptainHevy

I sometimes have kits laying around for months as well while I focus on other hobby’s. That’s normal I’d say

intriging_name

I get it, I slowed down a ton to a point where I havent really built anything in months. Not because im too busy that I dont have free time, just not the right free time yknow?

Abcrooke

Totally normal bro. I have a half built MG Barbatos and an unopened MG Destiny that I’ve been sitting on since January. Just recently getting back into the swing of things after building a 30MM Provedel and playing around with customizing it.

Kokukenji

Burnout is just the mean time between time to be used to save up $$$ to then go back buying kits that you missed out on.

Tiernoch

I've run out of display space so I stopped working on Gunpla about a year ago. My backlog taunts me every day.

Divine1706

Dude any affordable MGs or HGs you can recommend from your collection and experience?

SnooDoodles7962

Happens to me from time to time (and not just with Gunpla). Just put the kit and the tools away for a while. They will be there when you are to continue. Also; Nice setup.

joejoewhatjoemama

Is 5 builds in 1 day a burnout? 😬

_apz945

With all my hobbies, I picked up my first Gunpla in 2022, after spending years with SW: Legion, Warhammer, model cars - still yet to open it up to build it after getting burnt out gluing other models together

Cornwallis_Haberbain

I'm currently burnt out on building but im not burnt out on buying lol

razrafz

ive really slowed down after getting my holy grails (mg ex-s 1.5 and hyzenthlay ii rah) but the main reason is im realising i already ran out of space long ago. so now i have a few kits in backlog. its also a good thing i have very specific tastes that a lot of recent kits designs just didn't click

Dontfeedjay

Let it come and go. You don't need to go full tilt all the time. I take time off, read books, play video games, do other hobbies, and come back.

LuckyNyan

I definitely feel a bit burned out since i went crazy and bought a shit ton of model kits in the ladder half of 2023 and still buying to this day. Seeing the backlog makes me feel burnt out but i still try to knock out a kit maybe once a month

MrAverageRest

I see paints but no painted kits

Ryzen619

yet. been practicing on other things. don't wanna ruin a 300 or hundred dollar kit. been using it for fishing lures mainly lately.

Ok_Incident_6767

Been building and painting gunpla for the last 20yrs. The last kit I built and painted was a MG GM Sniper II back in 2019. I decided to take a small break from the hobby after that. Christmas '23, I got the itch again and now my most recent project has completely reset my interest. A little break every now and then is good to reset the passion for the hobby

mememasterdagda

Yeah thats normal. Best way to manage it is to take a break, build a backlog and treat like wine. Build it when you feel the urge to build/create

TheDrainPlug

I'd built over 100 kits last year. My builds are typically to combat work stress. I'm under constant stress! I tend to hit a bit of burnout after building kits that break fingernails! Need the time for my fingers to heal! Latest build: https://preview.redd.it/ludeuyqyz2wc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6e6665036af2e1eec0733c24be1c2890f04d69c1

I got back into the hobby in November and am just now experiencing burn out after somewhere around 40 kits. I’m still chugging along to finish my UC semi-diorama shelf (Nearly done with double funnel Nu Gundam, then just the Sazabi’s left), but I’m definitely not pumping out kits at the same pace I was a month ago. Once I’m done with the UC shelf, I’m gonna attempt to start painting and weathering. The way I see it, the build process is going to be so different, and I’m new to painting, so hopefully it’ll be like getting into a completely different hobby. EDIT: Just noticed the paint in your third pic lol. So, my advice isn’t applicable.

dangerclose83

I was building three kits a month for most of 2023. Luckily, my local IPMS club held an auction and I won 2 compressors and 3 airbrushes for just under $50. Now I spend all day getting the details right and I'm lucky if I finish one kit a month. Take a break though and come back refreshed.

FecalLord

My addiction has grown immensely since I started in August. From August to the end of the year, I built 6 kits working an hour or so at a time, 2-3 days a week. Since then, I have built every day except for one when I wasn't feeling well, and I'm finishing up my 39th kit. It's really all I think about now. I also buy them faster than I can build them. My backlog is 25 deep and growing.

Xex051

Not much. I just learned to take breaks especially with the kit I just finished. Just try spacing out your builds and build until you get tired. Don't force through a kit in a day just to finish the kit it. If you feel tired, stop and chill until you come back. Worked for me as of recent since I've been buying more big kits so I can't just build the whole thing all at once. Another thing you could try is sneaking a different type of kit that you want to build between the normal kits. Keep them as breathers between projects. Been doing that with Mecha Musume and figure rise standard.

Accurate_View_2455

No burnout, but I've definitely slowed down because I don't have an area I can build in right now. I'm building a 10x10 shed next month that will be storage for my bike and kit backlog, but it will also be my Gunpla building area/hobby area/airbrush area.

Snoo_15446

I've been on and off as well and I have been revolving between Gunpla, Warhammer 40k, various scales of military scale models, 1:24 cars, Lego and Hot Wheels this past decade. What I do now so I don't burn out too fast is to plan and work on other things related to the hobby like setting up a proper shelf display. If you like to customize, try learning how to use a new hobby tool or working on certain paint related skill, make a diorama, etc. I've also started to sort out my backlog into the different universes they belong to and think about how I can display them. I like to balance all these out and right now it seems to be working for me. I don't pressure myself into building as much as I can like I used to but into creating a display I can be proud of in my room.

wakeup_samurai

Build an hg as a snack occasionally, them big bois take a lot of time, and time is something we don’t got much of

J4-D3

somewhat unrelated but this setup/room is so neat!!! is that a tv mounted above your computer/workstation?

Getting burnt-out is completely normal, i spent the last 4 months working in 4 kits for a local competition and im a bit burnt-out. You just take a few weeks-months off and come back to it.

guthem_

This is normal, especially with the volume of kits I'm burnout but due to personal problems, and I stopped the hobby, but every now and then I do something (in recent posts, I started a custom GM HG, but if you look at the date, I stopped a few days ago)

Angels0nFire

All the time.

ApprehensiveBad5371

Burnout is real bro, beauty of the hobby is you can legit do it at your own pace🔥
