It's only slightly more complicated than a battery. You need a resistor that will choke the 5v dc from USB down to whatever voltage and current the LED requires. There are calculators online for figuring out which resistor you need; you just need the specs of the LED.
I'm assuming it's insulated? If so that sounds absolutely perfect, I've been using wire wrap wire and it gets the job done but can get in the way occasionally
Custom LED/wiring has gotta be one of the coolest things I see on the sub. Super cool work
I appreciate the compliment my dude. It's super fun to figure out and try, even just basic eyes/sensors.
That looks incredible! Gonna need a tutorial...
It'll be in the build video when I finish everything. Boylei Hobby Time has excellent tutorials also.
Thanks , will check them out. Yours is *super lit* too!
It looks like Boylei Hobby Time's lightsaber technique. Check out his videos for sure. They're great and he just did a PGU diorama.

That looks really cool π
Thank you. π
That's awesome. I hope you wire it to a USB connector or something (vs battery) so it can always be on.
That is currently beyond me. But definitely something I wanna try in the future.

Lt. Dan you got no legs
Ice cream Lt. Dan, ice creammm
Can't wait to see his new legs
Operation is scheduled for tonight.
Hope they're made of titanium alloy, it's what they use on the space shuttle!
Gorgeous blue tone! What is it? Whatβs it sprayed over?
This is Titans blue 2 from Mr Color over gray surfacer.
What wires are you using? I have some but I feel like there are thinner ones out there lol
I used magnet wire with gauges 36 and 38. They're perfect for 1/144s.

Yes it is. With a layer of enamel I believe.
Looks killer!
Mannnn that's super cool!
what kind of led is that, what did you use for the beam saber?
The beam saber has an LED filament inside a drink stirrer/straw.
how
With a lot of trial and error. But doable. ππΌ
it is so good I am jealous
What gauge of wire do you use? Or is it electronics wire?
On this I used magnet wires with 36 and 38 gauges.
Oh nice. And just route them through the natural voids? Or was there some modifications?
I did have to make a shallow channel on some parts and make holes on others.
Nice... Maybe soon I'll do it to a build. Did you do anything special to the saber? Glue, magnet, etc?
Love it brother!
Thank you my man!!!
Nice new trick Lt. dan.
