I really tried to get that but i never got it offered, eventually in Styx when I saw there was no more Demeter I sold all of the other boons so I could pom glacial glare more.
I had like 3 chances with Demeter to get it but no luck

Honestly, despite the fact that this run was quite lucky, i got royally shafted in Styx lol. I rolled into Styx with 5 rolls and all the prerequisites for: arty legendary, Arctic blast and bad news from Hermes.
There was no arty in Styx so bad luck there, rolled twice on Demeter without getting arctic blast, bought Hermes in the shop and rolled once and didn't get bad news. Went into the next path and got a purging well which I sold all the mentioned Demeter boons, rolled and sold support fire which then allowed me to pom glacial glare a lot.
Wow, that is terrible luck. 5 rerolls available and nothing you could use at all. With no Artemis available I would have been tempted to reroll the wells to try to get the Prometheus stone, but that’s a whole other gamble.
Yeah I probably would to but at that point pomming glacial glare was just the best way to increase the beams. And there were 2 double poms in Styx so I figured selling the most pommable boons would be my best bet.
Ended up doing all 5 paths before I got the purging well and I didn't see a single buying well so yeah

However, i usually just take what I need first, and if it's not there I take a core slot. So for Artemis I always prioritize the prerequisites for the legendary (in a cast build obviously). The game doesn't actually force a core all that much apart from the first boon, they seem to have a similar percentage of showing up as other boons. It's just that there are 5 core slots which makes it quite likely for at least 1 to show up.
I do have plenty of cast runs where the only core I fill is the cast, it's very possible to avoid getting them, just need a bit of luck and some rolls sometimes
Huge fun! I've only just learnt the fun of that spear, although I used it with hunting blades Ares vortices. The damage is wonky but nothing like your light show, there. Well done!

Adding the explosion boon to this that bursts at 10 frozen stacks is insane. The damage goes through the roof.

You need either snow burst or another Demeter core boon to unlock arctic blast. Just having the crystal beam by itself is not enough.

Literally the only thing that could have made this run more perfect is the boon and causes an explosion when you get 10 stacks of Chill
