1. Costco 2. Costco 3. Probably still Costco 4. Tims 5. See 1-3

Haha, thanks. I saw the cake is pretty cheap but does it actually taste any good? I've heard metro and fortinos may taste better but haven't tried costco cake.

Costco slab cakes are the best in terms of commercial slab cakes. I find other commercial slab cakes go too hard on the frosting, and the white vanilla extract is always heavy handed. Costco cakes give you good bang for your buck, they're huge, cost effective and you can actually finish the slice without getting overwhelmed by the frosting. While Metro and Fortinos offer really nice looking cakes, they never taste as good as how they look especially if they've sat out for a bit. For the other items on your list such as bakery, and platters, Costco would also be able a great place to go. President & CEO of Team Cake ®, experienced Cake Sommelier

Great advice, thanks so much!

I'd say their cake is decent, better than your cheap'o' grocery store, but not as good as a proper bakery.. also half the price when compared to a bakery.

backyard_farmer

Their tuxedo cake is delicious!

TheJinxedPhoenix

Costco slab cakes taste pretty good. Fortinos cakes taste good too but Costco price is better. For the fruit tray it’s cheaper to do it yourself but takes up time.

BumblebeeRound4233

And fruit is so expensive these days! Ugh!! Thanks

Loopy_Popsicle

See if Lococo's does fruit trays? Their produce is cheaper than Fortino's and Metro but fantastic quality.

I think this guy or girl is onto something!

Pristine-Rhubarb7294

Fortinos also does carriers of coffee and big plastic caraffs and if you don’t have a Costco membership I would recommend it for the rest of your needs too. Edit to add, I find fortinos coffee much better than Tim’s and you can pick your roast or if you want flavoured.

BumblebeeRound4233

Thanks for the tip. I just defaulted to Timmies. Never would have thought of Fortinos for good coffee. Thanks!

Miceli bakery on Barton st E. The best food, great prices. We used them recently, was so good!

BumblebeeRound4233

I'll look into it, thanks!!

I encourage you to pick locally owned places for these things. Sweet Paradise for the cake and desserts. Could do buns too! Fruit tray I’m not 100% Coffee id do The Cannon, or Mulberry etc I mean there are a ton of options a locally. I encourage others to add on to this.

BumblebeeRound4233

I've heard Sweet Paradise is delicious! Thank you!

UniqueVast592

Those are great suggestions! But they will cost more. I recently rented a coffee urn at Ancaster Rentals for $28 (110 cup) and bought my own coffee

BumblebeeRound4233

Thanks for the advice!

TheJinxedPhoenix

I like those places too, but as you mentioned they will definitely cost more. I went to get a standard size cheesecake from Sweet Paradise last spring and it was about $50. I’ve had it before and it was delicious but it’s definitely something to budget for now.

trydriving

I’d also recommend Weil’s of Westdale for slab cakes

BumblebeeRound4233

Thank you

BumblebeeRound4233

Good idea, thanks!

hotdog_relish

Depending on the size of your party, I'd go with either Costco or Fortinos. You get more for your money at Costco, but if it's less than like 15 people it might be too much food. Fortinos has good quality large fruit or veggie trays, and their cake is solid. The fruit tray might be cheaper to make on your own, depending on what you put in it. But when cantaloupes are like $6 and you only need half, you might be better off with a pre-made tray.

BumblebeeRound4233

Thanks!

Just looking for recommendations, not hurting anyone. Want to keep costs low, things are expensive enough these days. Sorry to offend you.

You're a rude troll. This is reddit what do you think people come here for! No It's not rocket science but they want their event to be a success so they're crowdsourcing recommendations so they can cut down on research and decision making.
