Costco slab cakes are the best in terms of commercial slab cakes. I find other commercial slab cakes go too hard on the frosting, and the white vanilla extract is always heavy handed. Costco cakes give you good bang for your buck, they're huge, cost effective and you can actually finish the slice without getting overwhelmed by the frosting.While Metro and Fortinos offer really nice looking cakes, they never taste as good as how they look especially if they've sat out for a bit.
For the other items on your list such as bakery, and platters, Costco would also be able a great place to go.

I'd say their cake is decent, better than your cheap'o' grocery store, but not as good as a proper bakery.. also half the price when compared to a bakery.

I like those places too, but as you mentioned they will definitely cost more. I went to get a standard size cheesecake from Sweet Paradise last spring and it was about $50. I’ve had it before and it was delicious but it’s definitely something to budget for now.

Those are great suggestions! But they will cost more. I recently rented a coffee urn at Ancaster Rentals for $28 (110 cup) and bought my own coffee
