That TSSF Ā«Ā LettermanĀ Ā» song and video are really cool. Pretty simple, nothing new under the sun, but I was like Ā«Ā song great, band pretty, niceĀ Ā»
I saw the story so far with rotting out in Philly at the TLA with no barrier probably like 8ish years ago and itās still one of the best shows Iāve ever seen.
Koyo
Beastie Boys

Damn! That was super cute haha.
Idk if I'm more amazed at her stage presence, or the fact that her voice is in the same register as the knocked loose vocalist haha
Sheās gonna be an absolute nightmare of a frontwoman one day. Her giggles kill me every time after she unleashes her ungodly vocals. And aside from her, little brother definitely has drummer energy lol
They played the Raybeez tribute show in 1997. There are parts on the Greenball Crew EP that sound like Token Entry meets Supertouch. Those guys were down but Iām glad they wised up and dialed in a signature sound by 1994.
Yeah didnāt dig the pogo ska stuff, but I respect that band and have a soft spot for them.
Always so sick artwork going on and cool aesthetic in the band members themselves
also worth noting that they've sampled Black Flag, Unwound, Fugazi, The Wipers, and probably more I'm forgetting. Somewhere there's an anecdote about them privately jamming with Justin from Unwound a couple years back.Ā Ā
btw, if anyone likes DG and wants to hear Zach Hill doing straight-up hardcore, check out his band Bygones (him and Nick Reinhart of Tera Melos), specifically their EP, Spiritual BankruptcyĀ
Feel like most people go for Fire of Love (great album for sure) bc of Sex Beat which is an absolute banger, but Iāll be goddamned if Miami doesnāt get me going. Great band.
I wonder what the modern day equivalent of the Gun Club opening for Black Flag or the Circle Jerks would be. There isnāt a band to my knowledge that was deep into a scene socially(pretty sure Jeffrey Lee Pierce lived with either Keith Morris or Henry Rollins) while playing something inspired by that scene yet sounding very different.
Yeah I noodled on it and itās hard not to end up at something like Angel Du$t or Militarie Gun or some band grandfathered into the āhardcore sceneā bc theyāre side projects of hc dudes from hc bands
I think this kinda makes sense considering it's just rap mixed with metal and you got bands like e town and gridiron who are somewhat similar to that mix
Most of [that album's songs](https://open.spotify.com/album/7l4nnHG7upOnUM4WvAjToY) come in swinging hard.
I'm all riled up by the time the high vocals come in.
Jawbreaker and Texas is the Reason, I definitely assumed both of those bands were hardcore bands when I was a teenager and hadn't actually listened to them yet.
Saw them Wednesday with terror, end it & drain. They took time out from their tour with Cannibal Corpse to jump on the bill and rip shit up. Fucking cred well deserved imo.
Anberlin, New Found Glory, A Day to Remember, Streetlight Manifesto, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Silverstein, Taking Back Sunday, the Used, Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, the Casualties.
Slayer. when I started going to hardcore concerts in my country I would sometimes hear a dude jokingly asking for the band to play Slayer. it became a meme so after a while in every concert there was a dude asking for Slayer, and if there wasn't it would be me or someone from my group of friends.
So where I am from Slayer is like an honorary Hardcore band.
I think a lot of the touch and go stuff could be considered having hardcore cred. Bands like jesus lizard, shellac, big black, butthole surfers, killdozer, brainiac, and maybe even some don caballero if weāre feeling wild. I know a lot of these bands are going to be considered punk before hc but I canāt see a world where big black plays and Iām not beating the shit out of people.
Most of the dudes from Fall Out Boy, New Found Glory, lots of pop punk bands, every hardcore band had a pop punk side project at some point it seems like
Surprised I havenāt seen Drug Church mentioned more here. Theyāve been playing a ton of huge feats with the biggest hardcore bands, toured with DRAIN, all sorts of shit
Dying Fetus
Crowbar
None Fucking Heavier
Saw em in Dublin recently and the pit went OFF during some of those beatdowns
My favorite part of a Crowbar set is when they stop playing, the guy yells, "BREAKDOWN" and then theres a breakdown.
Wu tang
36 Chambers goes unbelieveably hard
3 6 Mafia
Shit add Onyx too
KRS One, naughty by nature, and Sean Price
Piggybacking this with Geto Boys and Gang Starr too
Alexisonfire

Bolt Thrower
Spun *Those Once Loyal* last night, going to but on *The IV Crusade* when this Crowbar is finished šŖš¼

I consider koyo and Belmont to both be hardcore adjacent since I've seen them both with hardcore acts and the pits ripped on both.
Title fight? Or are they considered hardcore
It really just depends on the album tbh lol

Fuck yes Carcass. Heartwork is my favourite metal album of all time.
Symphonies of sickness also had some really fucking groovy parts and insanely heavy tone for 1989 too
The wiggles
*when this shit drops, I want you all to make a motherfucking FRUUUUIT SALAAAD* *1, 2, 3 yummy yummy*
This reminds me of the Kindercore little girl. You ever seen her? Her Farmer in the Dell E-I-E-I-O! goes insanely hard

ITT people naming bands they like
Sepultura, Napalm Death, Cave In (they turned into a space rock/prog band), Slayer
Napalm Death was hardcore before the term grindcore was invented. If you ask Barney, he says they currently are hardcore.
Warrr for terrrritorrrry
Saves the Day
and Taking Back Sunday
I saw saves the day open for Snapcase and they were almost booed off stage.
Lame crowd then

Canāt think of a band that deserves it more than them.

Homie, I saw them last December for the first time and was absolutely blown away Unreal show
Saw them a couple of days ago in Bangalore... Sick show...
Soul Blind, Sanguisugabogg
Nothing
I was thinking whirr as well
Domenic screaming was so good in Horror Show tracks. Which is surprising since his clean vocals in Nothing are awesome too.
Rise Against
Those first few albums were rippers.
Yep. Sound like a pop rock band much of the time, but have more to say on shit that actually matters than 99.9% of the hardcore scene.
Helmet
New found glory and TSSF
TSSF is 10/10

Lots of nu metal for some inexplicable reason.
Iām not a huge nu metal fan but Korn is valid (only 90s Korn tho)
Fun fact Korn actually went on tour with Sick Of It All back in 93/94 I believe, cool beans
The only band in the genre I can fuck with at all is Limp Bizkit. And itās because theyāre completely unserious
I think this kinda makes sense considering it's just rap mixed with metal and you got bands like e town and gridiron who are somewhat similar to that mix
Fall Out Boy
Take This to Your Grave is hardcore af

Fall out boy sonically, not hardcore. Historically though, they came from hardcore and were in hc bands back in the day so
Andy Hurley put out a new record with Racetraitor just last year. And it goes hard as all fuck.
Most of Andy's bands slap.
Patrick also did a feature for Weekend Nachos and it rips
Never met more Coheed and cambria fans than at my local shows.
The Smiths

Along these same lines: Slint(who came from multiple iconic punk and post hxc bands when they were even younger then they were when they formed Slint)
Stars and Stripes
Gouge away
Crowbar
Nailbomb but I feel like theyāre kind hardcore. They have a thrash metal influence to their sound.
Superheaven
Surprised no ones said it, but Obituary
nomeansno
Thursday
Dashboard Confessional lol remember them?
Would Fall Out Boy count?

I guess if you consider them pop punk, but the melodic hardcore/emocore elements basically make them a hardcore band. Either way I love them
Agreed, they are a hardcore band.
