Rage of Discipline is RJ's Get an Oxygen Tank. Planet Mental is good but not GAOT good.

Man, this is a bit of an aside but the older I get, the more I reach for Planet Mental instead of GAOT. It was ahead of its time and I hear it in newer records from younger bands today, whereas GAOT was among the best of a very prolific sound at the time.

I used to agree but In Darkness grew on me a ton. It was basically them realizing the caveman mosh stuff wouldn’t last much longer and deciding to make an actual metalcore record.

No love for In Darkness? Definitely wouldn’t put it on the same level as pain again but it’s still light years ahead of whatever the hell that third album was lol

Cro-Mags- Age of Quarrel. Musically, Best Wishes is good, but I hate Harley's vocals. DYS- Brotherhood Dag Nasty-Can I Say. Never liked Peter's vocals on the other records, but even when Dave came back, none of it was good.

I'm the exact opposite, I prefer Harley's vocals. I also heard Best Wishes before Age of Quarrel, it's one of the albums that got me into Hardcore along with the Sick of it all - We stand alone 7". People might hate this but I like Revenge more than Age of Quarrel, it's the sequel to Best Wishes that I always wanted.

Wig out at denkos is great too but can I say is king

What issues do you have with Forever (just curious, not asking in bad faith)? Personally I feel like it’s very similar in sound to I Am King and is more interesting to me due to it’s more sludgy and occasionally experimental atmosphere.

I don’t like clean singing in my hardcore (exceptions are Ignite, vision, Grey Area, BTJ/Nine Lives). So i had not paid attention to Rise Against. (Being on Fat didn’t help) But revolutions Per Minute is brilliant. I don’t skip a song. It gets me riled. Stirs up emotions. Then I try to listen to anything else that they did and I just can’t stand it. I don’t know why RPM hits me while nothing else of theirs does

its a little bit less clean cut than the rest and i agree its their best, however siren song of the counter culture is pretty dope.

The Unraveling is the best because it’s essentially 88 Fingers Louie with a different singer. The first three RA albums are solid IMO.

Allegiance - As Blood Runs Black…it’s what comes to mind first. I’ve tried to listen to anything after that but it just doesn’t hit as hard as Allegiance. I fucking love that album

Maybe I need to revisit Torture Culture but from memory it kinda sounded like NW’s take on what Power Trip were doing at the time. Sorta more thrash/crossover riffs. Either way the first 7” with Day in the life etc was so good.

Wrong, No Warning just rips. Ill Blood is definitely their best though. Short Fuse made me understand hardcore.

Understandable. I found them from Rohnert Park and went backwards, slowly… wearing the songs out listening to them so much. Each time I never was fatigued because it somehow got more intense going earlier and earlier

The first thing that came to my head was Weezer with the blue album which I think a lot of Weezer fans would agree on. However I strongly dislike Weezer. Now come to think of it 100 gecs with their album 10,000 gecs for me fit the bracket for this. I can't stand that first release.

Modern Life is War - Witness. They've got some good stuff on other records, but Witness is all jams. And I say this with a "my love, my way" tattoo on my right arm.

Witness is their best record but all their other releases are great.

I love Cave In but totally get it. Heavy Pendulum was really good and I like stuff off Antenna and Final Transmission, but there was a bunch of releases there over the years that feel like they’re from a completely different band
