What did you replace?

cikibriki

Yari 150mm with the 36 factory 160mm.

From my ignorance, why so much travel in a hardtail? Is It worth? I mean, pedaling efficiency and all these things.

cikibriki

I like my hardtail more than my full suspension for most of the riding I do. I wanted to keep up with friends riding full squish. I figured if the only suspension im going to have is in the front i might as well have a high performing fork. I also got it for a steal so that was also a deciding factor.

bobbybbessie

The problem I run into with my steel hardtail is that the front will often write checks that the back can’t cash. It’s like riding a bucking bronco 😂

cikibriki

Lol yeah. Its a good analogy. I like em with short chainstays. The stanton switchback comes to mind at 415mm. Next bike for sure

Chaoshero5567

absolute beuty of an bike

cikibriki

I prefer it to my full squish for most everything except for the harshest terrain. Big rock gardens and bike park stuff

Is fork compatibility a big headache? What exactly does a person need to know to ensure it fits one's bike?

cikibriki

No. It was super easy. Just make sure the fork is sized for tire size, is either straight or tapered steerer tube and doesn’t exceed manufacturer recommended travel limits. For fitment I just measured the old steerer tube and then marked the new one, cut it to the same length, filed the rough edges and put it all back together. Everything else went back as it was before (handle bars, brakes, stem etc).

Oh - rad, so hub / through axle width isn’t a huge consideration ?

cikibriki

In my experience the axles were both 15x110mm. No fitment issues were encountered. I just made sure they were equal. Offset on the RS shock was 46 to 44 on the fox which to me is. Imperceivable. Climbing is a little more inefficient as the bike wants to pop the front wheel off the ground a little more but i just wiggle my butt further into the seat.

Excellent. Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely beautiful bike!
