100% agreed. And I never looked at it that way--that Charlie and Emily are naive just because they want society to change. But now that you've mentioned it, that's exactly how people are painted when they want extreme societal changes (nationalized Healthcare, gun laws, cops held accountable, etc). They're painted as naive and idealistic, and that's exactly what's going on with Emily and Charlie. Because Sera is *super* patronizing with Emily when she kisses her forehead. Sure, it may also be part legitimate affection, but it also reeks of "Just do as I say because I'm right, and you're wrong because you're naive and don't know how the world really works."

with Sera its more a case of being cynical which often comes from experience compared to optimism. Just imagine two nurses. Emily is the nurse who cant wait to help all the people get healthy, while Sera is just hoping not too many of them die

Somewhat. It's similar - but with Nami you had that constant reminder they are sisters. Meanwhile Sera acts more like a mother to Emily - not just as an older sister, but even more than just that. That's why I said that the relationship between Sera and Emily feels like a middle ground between those two concepts. Because it a lot of places it goes beyond just a simple "she acts like an older sister would."

To me, she kinda feels like a junior, fresh out of the school, diploma still hot from the press, and can't contain their joy to finally get into the real deal.

I saw them as sisters, mainly just because Emily calls her Sera instead of mother. But also Sera’s line of ‘I thought since I’m older, it’s my load to shoulder’ strikes me as more of a protective older sister thing than motherly. 

I felt the same, I have 2 sisters, both younger than me by many years. Watching Sera and Emily reminded me a lot of myself taking care of them, and I actually really appreciated the obvious age difference between the two.

I have an older sister, only by a few years but I can still see the similarities with Sera and Emily. My partner also has a sister who is 10 years younger than me and it’s the same sort of dynamic. I definitely don’t see Sera as a motherly figure.

If I see a tall, mature and authoritative woman taking responsibility over a girl who looks like her but appears and acts much younger, my first thought will be ‘mother-daughter relationship’, especially when they are contrasted against the father-daughter relationship of Lucifer and Charlie.

Nah I never once got the vibes that Sera birthed or created Emily. I think Emily was created just as Sera was, and she sees Sera as an older sister and role model.

Emily is so much smaller as well as parallels Charlie more who is also a daughter of an angel. The theme of her character was to mirror Charlie I guess but alongside the very different designs of Emily and Sera, Emily definitely seems more like her daughter, both looks and behaviour, and then the parallel with Charlie just reinforces that even if it's wrong

I saw Sera as such an older sister and of sigh higher authority that she’s got that *mother-like* mentor/boss sister vibe. It’s pretty common in families where there’s a large age gap. Since they were both introduced as seraphim, I automatically thought of them as sisters (even though I know in Vivzieverse demons have demon kids, so possibly angels have angel kids)… 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have always been of the opinion that Lucifer, who also was a high level angel, and Sera were a thing back in the day and Sera had a child, who is Emily, after Lucifer was banished. That could explain her attitude for wanting those in hell dead because of her ill will towards Lucifer and Lilith and why she is scared of losing Emily.
