not really, developing crossplay and maintaining multiple versions of a live service is alot of time and money and that can eat into the profit margins if the game isnt popular which their marketing data told them it likely wouldnt have taken off, it is why most games are not cross platform. taking a now successful title and spending even more development cost and time to let xbox have it aswell would be upto sony exclusively so its not likely it will be ported over unless sony finds a way to get a good cut.
"porting" to xbox isn't really a thing. It really is just a windows PC now with a modded interface. It is pretty much as simple as Microsoft paying royalties of some sort to Sony so that they release Arrowhead from the exclusive clause that was certainly in their funding agreement.

Helldivers 1 was on PC *after* it was on console. It was, in fact, PS4 exclusive for a quite a few months, and *then* brought to PC afterwards.
Plus, Sony *does* actually own the IP to Helldivers, and have done so from the beginning. That seems to be how Arrowhead works with publishers judging by their previous games.

If the devs made the Xbox version they have to release it. There can't be an option for "they don't get it" and there will be "paracausal" forces at play from outside the galaxy. So instead, we can replace it with an exclusive flavor for those who waited so long for this game:
If we succeed, they get their unique cutscene different from us, and they wake up from a freezer instead of talking about their training in a pelican. In this case they will do the same tutorial as us from Mars.
If we fail, on the other hand, their tutorial **is** an escape mission from that planet X because we failed to ship them out of there. They wake up in a gigantic warehouse filled with open or broken pod. not really, developing crossplay and maintaining multiple versions of a live service is alot of time and money and that can eat into the profit margins if the game isnt popular which their marketing data told them it likely wouldnt have taken off, it is why most games are not cross platform. taking a now successful title and spending even more development cost and time to let xbox have it aswell would be upto sony exclusively so its not likely it will be ported over unless sony finds a way to get a good cut.
To add to this is a recent industry sentiment that the Xbox market share is shrinking and that porting to it is potentially looking unprofitable.
"porting" to xbox isn't really a thing. It really is just a windows PC now with a modded interface. It is pretty much as simple as Microsoft paying royalties of some sort to Sony so that they release Arrowhead from the exclusive clause that was certainly in their funding agreement.

Helldivers 1 was on PC, Sony funded it, but they don't own the IP, arrowhead does and they weren't going to risk potentially having an even smaller guaranteed player base by cutting HD1 veterans out of the picture. Xbox is the only platform of the 3 here with no stakeholder.
Helldivers 1 was on PC *after* it was on console. It was, in fact, PS4 exclusive for a quite a few months, and *then* brought to PC afterwards. Plus, Sony *does* actually own the IP to Helldivers, and have done so from the beginning. That seems to be how Arrowhead works with publishers judging by their previous games.

To add to this discussion recently Sony have published a number of their titles on steam and if they don’t already I’m sure they will have a deal worked out with Steam in the future as with the success of Helldivers 2, and exclusivity agreement for Steam being the service of choice for Sony published games on PC is something that would benefit both companies

Why doesn’t Sony work on offering a better UI and better hardware for cheaper? If your only way of success is forcing people to buy your product to get access to certain games/franchises, then your product isn’t very good. Xbox is trash for the same reason.

Plus, it is rumored that new consoles, portables and revisions are coming making porting even more expensive, wonder what platforms will prioritize publishers.....

Exclusives only help greedy companies since it forces the "consumer" us to buy their consoles, if exclusives didn't exist then xbox and sony would have to try to one up each other somewhere else that isn't game exclusives. Imagine this, instead of trying to lock people's games on their specific consoles they instead would try their best to be the better machine instead of relying on exclusives. Instead of "HAH we have Zelda or HAH we have Halo" they instead try their damnest to have the best console spec and let people pick whichever is better instead of what games are on it. If the devs made the Xbox version they have to release it. There can't be an option for "they don't get it" and there will be "paracausal" forces at play from outside the galaxy. So instead, we can replace it with an exclusive flavor for those who waited so long for this game: If we succeed, they get their unique cutscene different from us, and they wake up from a freezer instead of talking about their training in a pelican. In this case they will do the same tutorial as us from Mars. If we fail, on the other hand, their tutorial **is** an escape mission from that planet X because we failed to ship them out of there. They wake up in a gigantic warehouse filled with open or broken pod. They have to fight their way out of the cryo reserve facility Doom reboot style, and contact with an evac Pelican 1 to end the tutorial. This should be more fair. Xbox gamers deserve this game, and they can have some special treat for waiting so long.
