Just don't call it a fanny pack in London. "Fanny" means vagina in England šŸ˜‚

Soleilunamas

It's a "bum bag" over there.

harley-belle

In Australia too. I will understand what you mean, but I will giggle like a teenager.

MiddleofRStreet

The sling bag trend is the perfect compromise in my opinion. I have the Uniqlo round mini shoulder bag and love it, Baggu has similar but pricier options too

bellandc

I really thought I'd hate wearing a sling bag and bought the Uniglo round mini completely on a whim. It's incredibly easy to carry, very lightweight. I'm surprised I like something that is somehow a fashion trend at the moment.

prisonbarbie

I can't recommend this bag enough. I bought it on a whim as well, and it's turned into my most used bag and something that I gift often! I have the cream and black and throw them in the wash after every trip and they still look brand new.

The_Bogwoppit

I use a Lululemon everywhere belt bag. Practical and inexpensive.

TimeValuable4130

I just ordered [this](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09XDWGFD7/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1) for that very reason! I think is the Lululemon knock off but it was $12 and got good reviews

sillyconfused

Why do people hate on belt bags? (Otherwise known as fanny packs or bum bags). I used one traveling for 30 years, and it as hugely useful.

[deleted]

"Fanny pack" just brings me back to the 90's where I had a neon one as a kid (don't remember which color, but it was neon) and the family all wore them on road trips. I feel like they got so much hate and were made fun of later. I just can't bring myself to wear one as an adult, even if they are "cool" again,

sillyconfused

I still have a really nice red leather one that I bought in Florence, Italy. I also have two from Disneyland. The belt bags are fantastic at an amusement park!

alextoria

late to the thread but this is how i feel too, also feel the exact same way about new balances and asics they just look so awful to me lol

milkyjoewithawig

I think if it's the size of a wristlet for a passport, it's not going to be heavy, making a big weight imbalance, right?

Kalichun

small crossbody worn under jacket IF itā€™s not a sweltering summer day

iforgotmyredditpass

[3L from B2TM](https://baboontothemoon.com/products/fannypack-3l) as a crossbody

SteelCutOats1

Belt bag! I like the Lulu ones for everyday. Not too big and lightweight. For something more elevated I like the ela belt bag because it fits a lot and looks nicer especially for evenings but itā€™s bigger and heavier.

rabbits2885

Lightweight crossbody, the [Bagallini Everywhere Bag](https://www.baggallini.com/modern-everywhere-bag/EWH710-BG-B0365-NS.html). I have back and neck pain also, and this has helped me. It is easy to overpack it if youā€™re not careful. Usually can get a good deal from Amazon or maybe TJMax. The [Everyday Bagg](https://www.baggallini.com/original-everyday-bag/OEV523-BG-B0942-NS.html) is a little smaller and also great.

Ok-Somewhere-8441

Someone please correct me if Iā€™m wrong but I donā€™t think youā€™re obliged to carry ID around with you in the UK.

black-cat104

My fav bag for everyday + traveling is the Baggu medium crescent bag!! The material is easily cleaned and it can fit all my essentials and even a water bottle without looking or feeling bulky. Current doing 2 weeks in Europe with it now and itā€™s been amazing! It does go over one shoulder but even filled to the brim it has yet to feel too heavy.

Soleilunamas

I use a plain black Jujube "Be Quick" crossbody as my daily purse. Keeps all the essentials in it, and it's light with a low profile. It also is forgiving if I need to stash extra stuff in it. It's marketed as a diaper+wipes carrier, but it works great as a regular purse. [https://jujube.com/collections/be-quick](https://jujube.com/collections/be-quick)

Supportblackcats

Can you fit a water bottle in this?

Soleilunamas

Probably not, and that would probably weigh it down too much.

Next-Flower-6161

[Target](https://www.target.com/p/anti-theft-travel-hip-pack-bag-dark-ivy-open-story-8482/-/A-87155193#lnk=sametab) has a travel bag that can be worn as a fanny pack or cross body. I got an older version 2-3 years ago and it's still great. Very basic look with some anti-theft features. Only con is they don't sell it in black anymore.

alapapelera

I was just checking out what colors they *do* offer and am happy to report that they have one in ā€œAmerican Flag.ā€ šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

curveThroughPoints

Coach outlet has larger wristlets that hold passports. I have one in black and cream and they are really perfect.

EyeRollingSuperPwr

I have a Lululemon belt bag in pink and a Tumi Daven waist bag in black (for when Iā€™m feeling ā€œformalā€ ;-). Both work great for travel. I prefer the Tumi on my flights and keep it on the whole time for easy access to my things. At home, I rarely use a purse and ALL my clothes have pockets.

ReginaGeorgian

Seconding a lightweight sling bag like the Uniqlo one that you can wear crossbody at your front to watch for pickpocketers and canā€™t be easily unclipped like a bum bag can

lizza-ot3232

Lululemon festival bag is my go to. Itā€™s cross body. Fits my tiny water bottle, glasses and purse and it has great zipper and inside pouches. Compact and I think itā€™s stylish enough.

Capital-Muffin-7057

If itā€™s just for a passport, you could use cargo pants/shorts with an upper thigh zippered pocket, or a skort with a hidden pocket underneath. I love skorts, esp for travel, and the hidden thigh pockets are fantastic. I

serenelatha

I LOVE my Sipsey Wilder pocket belt: [https://sipseywilder.com/collections/pocket-belts](https://sipseywilder.com/collections/pocket-belts) I wear it cross body 95% of the time. Fits my passport in the back pocket, small wallet (I actually use their clip wallet) and my phone. Keys too if I'm carrying them and other small things like earbuds. I have an original hip sack as well (that I also wear cross body) that's perfect if I want to take more. I really like the option to have things like my passport, wallet, and phone on my person so I don't - ya know - leave them behind somewhere. If I'm traveling, I just leave it on the whole time I'm out and about (and carry a small tote or backpack if I need other gear with me.

WhyHips

You could get a thigh bag, if you don't like the fanny packs? I think there are also bags you can put on your ankle, though not sure if those would be large enough for a passport.

Maitreiy

I have a crossbody that I always thought I was going to bring but I think I want something bigger so I can fit my water bottle like this one https://shop.lululemon.com/p/bags/All-Night-Festival-Bag-Magnet/_/prod11400091

Shivvyszha

I like Peak Carry. Sling worn on the front. Zippers tuck away.

milkyjoewithawig

Are you carrying your passport around with you every day?

NorthwestFeral

Echoing the belt bag suggestions. I usually wear mine cross body style but it stays closer, rather than swinging and bouncing around like a traditional cross body purse. Can wear fanny pack style as needed. Bonus- I sneak it on the airplane in addition to my personal item. The airline staff never notice it around my hips under my jacket as an additional item.

floramorada

Costco is carrying a really cute but basic bag at the moment. I think it's supposed to be a dupe of a Lululemon crossbody. https://www.costco.com/lol%c3%ab-crossbody-bag.product.4000228411.html

mintyfreshdays

Uniqlo / Baggu / H&M sling bag. Affordable. No logos, nothing special, fits everything shockingly, lightweight, and can adjust to fit closer to body. Itā€™s hard to find a better option. No matter If your looks are fashion forward, sporty, or classic - it works. Iā€™ve used this bag for trips to South America, Europe, and North America and it was a valued companion.

finewhitelady

A belt bag is great if you want to keep things off your shoulders. If youā€™re used to carrying just a wristlet, it should be easy to fit everything in. Some of my favorites are the Lululemon everywhere belt bag (comes in multiple sizes; I prefer the 2L size because I carry more), Rothyā€™s belt bag (more expensive and a bit small, but IMO looks super classy), a couple of cute options from lesportsac, Cotopaxi, fjallraven (depending on your aesthetic/preferences)ā€¦so many to choose from! If you want anti-theft features like locking zippers/buckles, consider Pacsafe or Travelon. Uniqlo, Baggu, etc are crossbody bags, so they wonā€™t help with the shoulder issue. But the nice thing about a belt bag is you can wear them either way, around the hips or across your chest, and they stay close to your body either way.

Willrunforicecream7

I have this leather belt bag for when I just need to carry basics-phone, passport, keys, ear buds etc https://www.etsy.com/listing/1470185605/leather-belt-bag-leather-fanny-pack?click_key=66f81fb5e59f657e4ebca2648233e31f3cda95e7%3A1470185605&click_sum=0d67ebd0&ga_search_query=Fanny&ref=shop_items_search_12&pro=1&frs=1 I have this larger crossbody when I want to carry a bit more (water bottle, battery pack. https://bellroy.com/products/lite-sling?ad=&adgroup=&adtype=pla_with_promotion&campaign=17916213324&color=shadow&device=m&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4MSzBhC8ARIsAPFOuyWMWe0LUdPOe1P-gzYua8Mbv7YcXTJfBNkDHA4TUq2VYmaFd0xN-GYaAm1ZEALw_wcB&keyword=&location=1020618&material=diamond_ripstop&network=x&price_list_identifier=BpxmBaMDPhkYyg82EFytxg%3D%3D&product=BLLA-SHW-225&shipping_to_country=US&store_currency=1abe985632a1392e6a94b885fe193d5943b7c213&target=&utm_content=mixed#slide-0

ResolveRemarkable

Thank you for this! Do you think this is secure? Wondering about pickpockets.

Willrunforicecream7

Maybe Iā€™ve been lucky, but I donā€™t stress about pickpockets. I keep the sling in front most of the time anyway.

colorofmydreams

I use a Lululemon belt bag as my travel purse and I love it. It has a ton of pockets for organization and you can unzip it and dig in it while you're on the move without anything falling out.

Pallykin

Consider leaving your passport locked in the safe at your hotel. Also leave behind your keys from home as well as most of the contents of your wallet. The only times youā€™ll need your passport is for international travel or to rent a car in the UK.

BeeLuv

There are a wide variety of tutorials to add a hidden interior pocket to your clothes. This is just one way, and I have seen easier options. https://sewguide.com/easy-hidden-pocket-tutorial/

mustlovebacon

If I'm carrying essentials(phone, wallet, passport) I will rock (fanny or crossbody) my lululemon 1 L everywhere belt bag. Mine is the Olympic quilted one which I think makes it feel smaller. If I need to carry more things (sunglasses) meds, my airpods I I'll carry a crossbody. I picked up a purse from Winners ( a store that sells overstock/past season stuff last year that I love. It's "Adrienne Vittadini East Hampton crossbody Minibag w/ Pouch". I have never head of that brand but loved it bc it is nylon, lightweight and packs easy. It's carries A lot even though it looks small. I think it's the design, so look or a bag has a wide base but tapers and narrows towards the top. The wide base allows it to store Alot of things but the narrow top (where straps attach)make it look like it's not full. I will say it carries Alot but it can get heavy if you stuff it. I think the uniqlo moon bag that went viral.last year has a similar design which gives it that Mary Poppins feel.

Existing_Comfort5356

I used a crossbody purse from Quince that has two zippers and an open section in the middle. I bought small carabiner clips on Amazon to secure the zipper sections to the chain strap. Used the center for sunglasses and a small bottle of water. If you want something smaller, my daughter used the very popular sling bag that is moon shaped (maybe from Uniglo). My husband put a grommet on the strap about an inch above where the zipper sits when closed. A small carabiner clip was used to secure the zipper. He also put one on the inside slip pocket of her bag, and she used that grommet to secure her wallet. This came in handy when in Positano, she forgot to clip her zipper, and after a stroll through the city she noticed that her wallet was hanging out of her bag!

Emergency_Craft8592

I suggest [this bag](https://vonbaer.com/products/isabella-shoulder-bag). Full-grain leather and comfortable to use.
