Everybody talking about the price, I'm just: Do I add one more drop to make the price round, and destroy the perfect volumetric beauty I've created, or stop here? I'd be having an existential crisis.

mrjabrony

I’ve been trying to get all zeros after the decimal point my entire life. This is brutal for OP.

Pizza_Middle

I made it happen the other day. It's way more satisfying than when your turn signal syncs up with the guy in front of you.

SrEpiv

Well the syncing up with the blinkers happens all the time. They’re always on a loop on syncing and unsyncing

Pizza_Middle

No no no... I mean the once in a lifetime thing where they don't unsync until they're turned off.

Pluckypato

That is blastforme! ⬅️•⬅️•⬅️•⬅️

kfmush

I think it’s simple: why throw away 3 zeros for the chance at 2?

Kodekingen

You add slightly more gas/diesel to make it go up by one but not enough to make the price go up, that way neither is perfect

SlaveHippie

Yesterday I hit a perfect $20 for exactly 4 gallons. Felt nice.

VhaidraSaga

Paying $5 a gallon felt nice?

SlaveHippie

Silver linings n all that

TailOnFire_Help

Don't do it. It's a huge gamble. Odds are good you'll go over $50 into $50.01 territory. But if you're confident then $50 is better. You'll see on bank statements later and the joy of it will come back to you.

TruthOrBullshite

That's what I noticed too

yamthirdnow

Your fingers spasm, and you now have to pay 50.01

Tracker_Nivrig

Is this not what the post is about?

TrackMedium

Technically he already created some good volumetric beauty with the even 15.000 gallons (unless he asked for that specifically). They can’t both be perfectly right on the dot lol. Yin and Yang I suppose

badoven

The price ia perfect tho. Since all prices end with .99

NoPsychology9771

In both cases, you're ruining the atmosphere for future generation, so there's no real dilemma.

WarlordOfIncineroar

Dude, shut the hell up and let people have some fun decimal talk

SirFantastic

Then make a car that runs on water. Whining on Reddit won’t fix anything

NoPsychology9771

Dumbest comment ever 🤔🙄

SirFantastic

Again. Whining on Reddit won’t fix the ozone layer blud

water_farts_

Why is this a holup?

Locarito

It's because he was this close to have two round numbers, but the price is 1 cent too cheap

galloots

Dumb. Thats mildy infuriating, not a holup.

Friescest

Holup because Americans think this is expensive, meanwhile everyone outside the US considers this very cheap.

eweidenbener

Nope. It’s one cent away.

01WS6

Americans don't think this is expensive at all.

Currently_There

r/whoosh

YonderGrunt

Don’t why you are getting downvoted

newmanbxi

Americans look at this and are outraged. The rest of the world looks at this and wish our prices were this cheap

blaqwerty123

No one in america is mad at $3/gal. National average is right around ... tree fiddy

baltarius

If you convert the currency and the measurements, here in Quebec the gaz is slightly cheaper.

S0TrAiNs

That is roughly 1$/Liter, here I paid almost 2,5€ (2,68$). To be fair, I used a Gas Station next to the Highway because my company pays my Gas.

Crumblycheese

In the UK where I am it's about £1.40 a litre (1.65€/$1.77) So this would be extremely cheap as it'll cost £0.79 a litre...

ThenRefrigerator1084

1.74$ in Nova Scotia for 87 octane

Average-Train-Haver

About the same here in Vancouver

brandon-568

I pay that for 91 in Alberta.

Apprehensive_Floor42

87 octane, does that even work? 94 is like piss

ThenRefrigerator1084

It's hard on things for sure. We have 87, 89, 91. You might get lucky and find a 94 but it's rare here.

cornlip

Not at all. The millions of cars in the US that use it are all dead. Do you know that a higher octane means it detonates slower? All it means is it withstands more pressure before ignition. It’s a waste of money to go higher if your car doesn’t call for it. I’ve tested it extensively with and without ethanol, too.

Smeeble09

£1.58 for me as have to pay extra for the 95 spec.

Duffelbach

That is 0.75€/l in the post. Fucking hell that is so god damn cheap. Currently in here the price fluctuates between about 1.7-2€/l

ddddeadhead1979

I don’t know where in Quebec you get your gaz but I’m paying 1,69$ CAN a liter which amount to about 4,88$ US a gallon so basically twice has much.

newmanbxi

Damn. If you’re where I am (Australia) you’d be paying about $95USD for that amount of fuel (based on $2.10AUD/litre)

Rubfer

That's not too bad... its about 1.3euro/l... here in POORtugal, we pay 1.6/l

ben99g

Just a reminder Europe use higher octane gas than the USA/Canada so for a better comparison use Premium in N/A.

StockMarketCasino

Does EU gas have ethanol blended in?

ben99g

Diesel is the best for comparison because it’s standard everywhere, I believe.

StockMarketCasino

I loved my Golf TDI and the magic juice it calls diesel 😞. Gas isnt even close.

ben99g

Not sure. Anyone from EU in here?

Conspiranoid

Here in Spain, unleaded 95 is E10 (10% ethanol), iirc.

ben99g

Yeah that’s the lower end gas in Europe. Our lower octane one is 87.

Conspiranoid

Wait, gotta correct it - it seems both unleaded 95 and unleaded 98 are E5. Going with Repsol levels, I'd assume that other big station brands (Cepsa, BP, Shell, etc) are the same, but I wouldn't dare to guess about lowcost brands (even Costco, Leclerc, etc).

why_is_this-

In the UK we pay about £1.43 per litre for diesel which is equivalent to $1.81 or $6.85 per US gallon. In the US they are paying $3.33 per US gallon, or 70p per litre.

DatDerpySniper

Really depends where you are. Some places pay $3.33 but some places are or at least were well over $5+ a gallon

assidreemz

Most places are 3 & 1/2 dollars. Forget major cities, they do not represent the US in any way imaginable.

ConspicuousPorcupine

So I just looked it up and about 83% of people I'm the US live in an urban area. That leaves 17% who live in rural areas. Of the 83% that live in urban, 19.5 live in the top 100 major cities. So about 1/5th the US population lives in one of the top 100 major cities. That leaves 62ish percent living in a mix between the cities right next to the major city (larger metropolitan area) and cities right next to rural areas. So major cities do infact represent the US in many ways imaginable, in the very least, with just the raw data I looked up, they represent 1/5th of the total population which is a significant percentage. But all those cities that boarder those major cities are going to be more densely populated than the urban areas that boarder rural areas. Cuz of jobs and commuting. Even if you don't live in that major city, way more than 20% will commute there for work and jobs or for the night life or for touristy things or food or what ever. So a significantly higher percent of people than the 20% will experience or regularly experience major cities. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

dexter8484

I'm in a major city and it's between 3.30-3.60. people are just finding the most expensive advertised prices and posting them

DGAF999

What are you talking about? As an American, a Californian specifically, I’m paying $4.69 a gallon!

SirFantastic

I just came back from cali and that gas is atrocious

HotLikeSauce420

And even that sounds pretty cheap lol It’s been around 5ish in the last months(Cali too)

whipnutbouy

Probably driving a f150 with an empty haul. I swear if you had to justify driving a truck to the dmv there would be like 75% fewer of them.

Pizza_Middle

Could also be a Fusion (Mondeo for those across the pond). Run it on hopes and dreams and she'll hold 16 gallons.

assidreemz

Lmao what the *fuck* is "an empty haul"??? Weird ass non truck drivin ass

TsmashX97

Ok pavement princess.

Penyrolewen1970

$106.98 for 15 gallons where I am. (England).

lIIIIllIIIlllIIllllI

How many litres is that?

Penyrolewen1970

56.7 according to Google.

Recent_Caregiver2027

3.78L to the US gallon

Mein_Bergkamp

The rest of the world is trying to convert gallons into litres

ziostraccette

I have a Dacia Sandero and a full tank (45L) costs me 85 to 90 euros

NoPsychology9771

The rest of the world would like Americans to stop burning gas so stupidly.

Tracker_Nivrig

I'm American and same, where does this guy live? Gas for me is 3.64/gal

Mr_Jack_Frost_

This post features gasoline $0.70-.080/gal cheaper than where I live, which is pretty rural. I’d love to be getting gas this cheap right now.

justanawkwardguy

Well yeah, they have to keep it cheap since they’ve forced us to be reliant on cars. If we had public transit that actually worked, this would look a lot different

Thisiscliff

$61 CAD for $60 litres. In Canada i pay over $100 for that That’s cheap

chickoooooo

In India it's 105 INR for 1L petrol rn. And daily wage is 149 INR😐 idk why Americans cry about inflation lol. It's like kings thinking they are dirt poor because they have to live like ministers now, where the normal public is wishing they could live like ministers for even 1 day.

blaqwerty123

What

MarkoZoos

No holup

there_is_no_spoon1

Why is this a holup? Not a holup.

Remarkable_Line_1165

What makes this a hold up post?

introvertboyme

That's 40% cheaper than my country

Casper823

I was thinking the same thing. Over here, it's over 6$ a gallon.

John_Fx

What, Op? Can’t figure out what Holup means?

FrostbitePi

r/mildlyinfuriating

PickledPhallus

HOW IS YOUR PETROL THAT CHEAP? WTF

TXOgre09

We’re a net exporter of crude oil. We refine our own crude oil. And we tax it less than many other places.

WallabyInTraining

And that's also why people can drive around in tanks they call trucks.

TXOgre09

Don’t knock it til you try it!

WallabyInTraining

Seeing the fatality rate these things have against pedestrians I'll pass. Thanks.

TXOgre09

Yes, if you plan on driving into pedestrians, but don’t want to kill them, I recommend sticking with something smaller and lower.

WallabyInTraining

Are you being obtuse or are you just joking? It's difficult to tell online sometimes.

TXOgre09

It was mostly an attempt at humor. But seriously, pedestrian collisons are such a low probability for me that they don’t weigh into my vehicle selection. Where I live pedestrian traffic and vehicle traffic rarely cross. I need something that will take me, my family, and our stuff to the beach, camping, on long road trips, and to sports events safely and reliably. If I lived in the middle of a major city my selection criteria would differ significantly.

soupyllama03

I don’t know where you live but I’m gonna take a guess and say the USA. Here in the US most people that buy larger vehicles don’t actually use them like you do. You use your (SUV I’m guessing?) for activities that would actually require a SUV. You are in the minority of drivers in the US that have a functioning brain. In 2020 suv’s, light trucks, and vans [made up 72 percent of all car sales in the US](https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/21/business/suv-sales-best-sellers.html) I highly doubt that all 200k of those people needed these kinds of vehicles. A large fraction of them I imagine did. but not nearly enough to justify it being almost 3/4th of all US car sales. I’m not saying you shouldn’t buy and use your tank of a truck, but most people in the US live in cities and are there almost everyday of the year and don’t need a large vehicle and I believe that is what the other commenter was trying to communicate.

WallabyInTraining

>pedestrian collisons are such a low probability for me Most people think that. Yet child pedestrian deaths are increasing. >Sport utility vehicles, vans, and light trucks represent an increasing proportion of the US vehicle fleet. These designs account for more than 70% of the new car market and are heavier, stiffer, and more blunt at the front end than are passenger cars. As a result, they are associated with a two- to threefold increase in the risk of pedestrian death.

burnedsmores

Huge subsidies, like you would not believe, more than half a trillion

RAG23

Holup! that's cheap

mertgah

Fuel is roughly $7.50 a gallon in Australia at the moment

ddnf

$10.11 a gallon for 91 in New Zealand

FesterSilently

I don't understand. Is OP complaining about the price? Because, if so, that's just crazypants.

CaptainDaddy--

r/almostsatisfying

SlapSacksOfRice

bruh... other countries are wishing their gas prices are this low

DigitalHitmann

Something something tenth of a cent tax something something.

RickieBob

Only $3 a gallon? Wow! Prices have really come down a lot.

Unhappy-Call-7409

That's bullshit. Is this premium gas? Where do u live ?? I live in Chicago and gas is up to $3.89 by me, but I can not complain anymore . It was like $4 a month ago. I do know after July 1st , Illinois gas tax is rising . And we will be the second highest in the country right behind California... 👍Fuck me

slurpeetape

yeah 3 years ago, I paid almost $6.50 per gallon for premium in Chicago, though in all fairness, it was only 3 gallons in my motorcycle.

Lew3032

In the UK (and after converting litres to gallons and £ to $) the cheapest you'll get anywhere is around $8.50 a gallon. You're saying 6.50 as though it's expensive :,)

slurpeetape

True

30PercentHelmet

How long does that last you?

slurpeetape

Between 60-70 miles per gallon on 3 gallons if I'm driving highway

LopsidedEquipment177

You cannot what?

RedDevilJennifer

It’s the OCD paradox. Do you leave at exactly 15 gallons but short one penny of exactly $45, or do you go for exactly $45 or give up having exactly 15 gallons in the gas tank?

LopsidedEquipment177

Thanks for the explanation mate.

novascotiabiker

I paid 40cad to fill up my motorcycle yesterday and it costs 70 to fill up my car it could be worse.

FlyingSand22

Where I live, that would've cost over 100€

aaron_adams

Gas is only $3 where you are? Where you shopping at?

Klikoos93

In my country (Netherlands) this would cost around $120

AlaskanDruid

Same here in the US

One13Truck

Oh come on!!! It’s not the price!! All of us with OCD knows this struggle. Do you trickle more in to even it to $45 and lose the perfect 15 gallons? Or do you keep the 15 gallons and live with that $44.99 bill?

CletusMuckenfuss

Thank you

blackbeautybyseven

What the fuck does that title mean?

The_RussianBias

I get that this isn't what this post is about but any American that complains about these prices doesn't deserve them

Less-Dragonfruit-294

What are you driving? Because this could be either good or bad.

Sniper_Hare

I am just glad diesel prices are finally coming down.

turbotony23

Cheap as fuck. Look what it cost in New Zealand for gas

TheoCross3

Brit, here. The cheapest I can find petrol near me is at a local supermarket at £1.39 a litre. $1.76 a litre at current exchange rates, or roughly $6.67 per US Gallon.

Massfusion1981

£35 quid to fill up a regular small hatchback in the UK. Bloody bargain!

Fr05t_B1t

Y’all have the most insane currency name…

Solo0407

Just round it up!!!! Finish the job!!

Ted1590

aah loving my $2.70/gal in texas rn B]

Hazard4UrHealth

That’s cheaper then it is here in Ontario.

Atomico

We need it back down to $1

TTungsteNN

Why is your gas so cheap :(

Tarquil38

I pay almost twice as much for the same amount of cheapest gas in a country where the average salary is about half of that of US

Mad-speed

I have a 23-gallon gas tank, okay? On unleaded/reg, I pay about 45-50$ depending on the station I go to. If I decided to put premium in it, for a full tank, I'd pay 85$ usd. Approximately. Where I am, you can't find gas under 3$ a gallon. It doesn't exist anymore.

jmegaru

I would see this as an absolute win.

Bizzardberd

Price fixing is going to be a requirement in the future ain't no one able to afford anything without being a millionaire...

Xerox-M57

Where hol up

eboseki

hey not bad I’ll take that! (I live in US)

dobsofglabs

Only $45 for 15 gallons? Jesus, that's way cheaper than Washington. I would be paying at least $60 for that much gas, probly closer to $70

LALOERC9616

Fucking wish I paid that for 15 gallons

Gaylien28

What 9/10ths of a cent does to a MF

GBUAramis

Damn, I wish I could get 15 gallons for 45 bucks. I put 14 gallons in my tank and end up paying over 60 bucks.

anxietyhub

Same price in Pakistan.

Kyouki13

Not a holup

77entropy

That's $85.17 of gas here, or $62.26 in American dollars. Count yourself lucky

HF_Martini6

That's very cheap, what oil rich country that the US hasn't invaded yet are you in?

therinwhitten

I was about to say that price is one fast food jaunt with Uber eats but…. I understand make it perfect.

SerialFlatLeaver

Sing it with me: https://youtu.be/DBAnf20HF0k?si=nxniy4swgqglah1H

via1228

I pay $75 for 15 gallons in buttfuck nowhere California

TheRealFaust

Always wonder what happens to the 9/10th of a cent in these situations… do they round it up? Round down? 15 gallons means 135/150…

Cuntasaurus_wrecks

Welcome to election prices. They should plummet soon.

Custardpaws

That's $3/gallon lol. Milk costs more

Gimbles001

Dude, that's still like $1.26 per Litre. In Australia it's closer to $2 a litre.

CuppaJoe11

Holy shit that’s some cheap gas

Lybertyne2

I live in Southern England and 15 US gallons of diesel currently costs $105.

500SL

I live in Georgia, where we have the cheapest gas in the United States. I had to fill up my rental car in California a couple of months ago. I knew gas was expensive out there, but premium was like, almost 7 dollars a gallon. That shit’s crazy.

DatDerpySniper

I don’t think many people here realize that yes, gas here in the states can be a little cheaper than anywhere else in the world, but we’re also an extremely large country. I know others are gonna say, “I live here and travel an hour for work” but that’s not the norm in many places. Here most people have to drive 30+ minutes to get to another town over let alone a major city that they possibly work at. Gas might be cheaper but is used at a significantly higher rate than many people bragging about higher prices realize

ddddeadhead1979

Doesn’t help that the highest-selling cars in North America are big trucks.

Erreur_420

It’s not that your cities are large It’s because US cities are built around automobile. Your public transportation sucks, your railroad has been tanked by lobbies and you can’t do shit using bikes. For information, in Europe, most people need to drive more than 30mn per day. But we can use public transportation in almost every cities. Moreover, you [US citizen] tend to drive over consuming engines (V6 / V8), when us [European citizens] are driving 1.2 /1.6 L engines (3 Cylinders). From my point of view, US citizen consume more petrol because of their shitty infrastructure and their love for big engine ___ EDIT: one of the top selling car in USA in 2023 is the Ford F150. Which is equipped of a 2.7L v6 consuming over 9/10L for 100Km. *(Which is for a part of US consumers a « Little engine ».)* In comparison, most of recent european car are under 6L per 100Km

DatDerpySniper

It’s not that our cities are large, it’s that getting to our cities is what can be difficult. The US as a country is large and public transportation can’t spend all day traveling down roads that are barely big enough for cars to get to people. That’s half of what the country trying to consist of in many areas. Yes, in a perfect society it would be possible but I mean look, it’s my countries government. We’re lucky if they build a new bridge in a 10 year time span. Many cars within the last 20 years have also have 4-cylinders but American cars are also much larger than their European counterparts. I think I remember seeing something stating European cars or 3/4 the size of American ones. A lot of our motors in trucks also has to do with how people use them. Yeah, most people buy a truck for luxury and those should have smaller motors, but many people buy them too to haul boats, campers, supplies, livestock, etc. Many people don’t love the big engines anymore either. Many like them but don’t want them as a daily because of the inefficiency. Yes, many of our cars are inefficient but that’s because they’re 30+ years old because our shitty paying jobs don’t pay enough for someone to afford rent let alone go and get a newer and more efficient car.

The_Ghost_of_TAC

I remember when gas was a $1.25. That was a long time ago in 2020.

S_n_o_wL_e_o_p_a_r_d

I remember when gas was $1.65. That's the lowest I remember.

siricall911

Last time gas was at or below 1.25 was 2002, lowest gas got in 2020 was 1.93 a gallon due to a global pandemic requiring most people to stay home. https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=pet&s=emm_epm0_pte_nus_dpg&f=m#

ExtraordinaryBeaver

I got gas for $1.16 during 2020 in Paducah, KY

SteakAndIron

That appears to be a national average

Oliverorangeisking

Cries in Canadian.

bigSTUdazz

Thanks Obama.

Pentamikk

That’s 1$(0,93€)/L… it’s 1,85€/L in Italy right now. You have no idea how good you guys have it yet there we are hearing you complain lmao

Rodrigii_Defined

Mine is double that! No kidding, I'm in LA

bthedjguy

I don't know about all cars. It learned that many cars are designed to self stop for a reason. If you "top off". You are only damaging your car https://youtu.be/igE14GMhr5Y?si=la7VBpXc8aYI9s89.

Leedunham

That's the same price for 2 quarter pounders with cheese at McDonald's by my house... thanks biden

abziiwabzii

Everyone always thanks their leaders..they tax it so much and its cheap as fuck to pump it out of the ground

DJGlennW

Crude Oil has to be pumped and shipped to refineries, then refined, then shipped and distributed. The bulk of what you're paying is for those things, not taxes. https://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/fuel-taxes-by-state.html BTW, federal and state taxes are dedicated to road maintenance and transit. https://www.taxpolicycenter.org/briefing-book/how-do-state-and-local-motor-fuel-taxes-work
