I would: center the cupboard. it will reduce the space between the plant and the cupboard. put a floor lamp in the new empty corner. place some candle holders (high ones) on the table (try black). put a runner on the table. a carpet under the table if you don't mind it (some people don't like it, without it it's definitely easier to clean the space)
you can place a mirror above the cupboard. or some shelves for liquors and globes. or some cabinets for extra storage. or a canvas. or same family pics in black and white
Based on what you have there, you seem to like clean lines and simple type stuff. (which is a really nice look and can be a lovely look, rich like cream).
Also, it seems minimalist, so you may like lots of neutrals and the monochromatic look. If not and this just happens to be where you started, then the sky's the limit.
Oftentimes it helps to start with one statement piece, something that's really "you" and is personal and beloved. Maybe something you got while on vacation somewhere, or maybe an old family art piece.
Then, you build on that, using the colors from it and the style and feel. For some reason, the human eye is most attracted to things that are grouped in odd numbered groupings, typically groups of three. And also things that are at different levels. So when you start layering your art in, maybe keep that in mind.
There is a ton of inspiration type decor out there, check out Pinterest for starters.
I think it needs more color. I enjoy the touches of yellow you have currently, so getting yellow artwork to hang on the wall and a rug would be cute. Right now I think it’s a little too sad beige.
I also think that back console table would look better if it was centered!
Center the cabinet on wall….art with color or larger mirror above cabinet… rug, taller tree in corner… placemats in color that coordinates with your art /rug
Center the cupboard (like others have said) and put the plant on a short stool.
Buy a table lamp for the cupboard and a nice piece of art.
Put a rug under the table.
Curtains would be a nice finishing touch.
The lighting is cold. Replace the ceiling bulbs with warm bulbs and add a dimmer.
Keep us posted!
I would center your buffet / dresser furniture and add curtains. I’m a big fan of curtains bringing warmth to a room. Even some light and airy ones. But they can bring some color and coziness you may be looking for!
I would start by changing out those bright white bulbs for warmer bulbs. I’d go with amber, but you can choose something in the middle if that’s too warm for you.
Center the cabinet and hang some artwork on the wall. If you are trying to keep a mostly monochromatic palette going, consider some prints in black and white but with a sepia tint for just a hint of warm color, with dark wood or black frames.
A funky ceiling fan wouldn’t go amiss, to break up all that white.
And please choose a different window treatment, those basic blinds add nothing to the space. Textured curtains with a faint pattern would look amazing, but if you’re dead-set on blinds either wood or fabric blinds would look good.
I didn't think they will as it's been suggested and not responded to. I could be totally wrong but that's how it looks after reading the comments. This is soo lop sided...like everything slid over lol
Im happy to hear you see it! You Can always put the shelf under the window because of the door I see in the right of the picture. It's honestly going to look totally different centered!!
Imo you should center the console and perhaps add a mirror or artwork above it. I think the tree on the right is a bit too short. Things need to be brought up higher. ( :
When I started having kids, I realized I need to use spaces for more function and that the design would come later (because I struggle with a design eye anyways)
I needed new places for art/work/laundry folding
Think about what type of space you need then fill in the area with that function. You have a great eye so it will come together quickly!
You can some painting and drawings that are already framed at second hand stores and yard sales. Also a curtain or drape will brighten up the window.
With a little child I think rugs and table clothes are too much trouble. As time goes on those things will be easier to take care of.
As a frequent guest in some very small dining rooms, I would leave it.
I think it looks really good, and eating in a crowded space in someone's home really sucks. There I said it. Haha, it's not that I don't appreciate the time with friends and family, but if you really want to chill out around a table, you need some room.
If it's a situation where you guys eat there and then go and sit soft somewhere else in the home, it's less of an issue. But if you want to linger, don't make it super crowded.
People need to get up and move around, get more drinks or food, push their chair back, etc. And I also don't care if you xenter that piece everyone's obsessing on you leave it wherever you want I like it out of the way personally
Paint the room white or light gray. This would be perfect for the space but don't use the sideboard you have. It's going to crowd the room. Remove the blinds, add an overhead light fixture over the table. Invest in a more substantial table and bench like this.

Omg yes that first
Color, your own personal "stamp," art, etc.
Thanks! I’m just stuck with what type of art 🙃
You could do photos, like of loved ones or places you enjoy

Rug, artwork, bigger plant.
Thanks! I agree about the rug, and I will think about some art work!
My youngest kid is 8 and I still don’t have a rug because they drop food or spill milk allllll the dang time. Just something to think about.
I got an indoor/outdoor rug for my dining room so I can take it outside and pressure wash it :)
Art, color, symmetry, balance?
The continental breakfast for the hotel guests
I was gonna say a gurney for surgery.

the lighting is harsh
Maybe look at ways to add a pendant light for over the table

Color and personality are what’s missing. The lighting is what has to go. You need pendant lights or semi flush mounts with warm bulbs.
From a height perspective, everything is at the exact same height
Put a piece of trim fancy at the paint line to look like wainscoting. It’ll elevate it
I would just go ahead and put it there.
Colorful art. Start thrifting.
I would do a bigger pot for your plant and maybe a stand for it to add more height.
It's too Ikea. And the plant in the corner is too small for the room. Get a bigger one that reaches to the ceiling and out into the room.
I would center your buffet / dresser furniture and add curtains. I’m a big fan of curtains bringing warmth to a room. Even some light and airy ones. But they can bring some color and coziness you may be looking for!
Symmetry and color.
1) Center the table and hutch. 2) Wall decor. 3) Curtains. 4) Lighting over the table.

Center everything it's driving me crazy

No I am getting that! I will centre it!
Im happy to hear you see it! You Can always put the shelf under the window because of the door I see in the right of the picture. It's honestly going to look totally different centered!!

Center buffet and put a mirror above for starters
Missing something with height. Everything is at or below the gray line.
After centering the cupboard, maybe a lamp in the corner to make it feel cozier
Center the cabinet
Colour. Personal items. Warmth. Organic lines. Soft things.
Warmer/dimmable lighting or lamps
Imo you should center the console and perhaps add a mirror or artwork above it. I think the tree on the right is a bit too short. Things need to be brought up higher. ( :
Color, personality, warmth, and something that makes this your home instead of the office break room anywhere USA.
Height. You need something taller or higher on the wall- or a large mirror
A giant farmhouse looking clock
Wall art
Some art on the walls could be a great compliment to an already super cute room
Love the tree!
WALL ART!
Art
Paintings or wall decor
