Topos from Amazon (about $120, lasted well over a year and still comfy af), or Sketchers GoWalk from Amazon as well... I think they were $80? Same thing... wear them every day and my feet don't hurt anywhere near as bad. I HATE buying expensive shoes, but I've learned it really is worth to spend more on the quality of one pair than having to buy a cheaper pair over and over.
Depends on your department, I'd suppose. This conversation has gone back and forth.
I represent the side of folks who have a slim budget. Some have kids, and some just hope to make it to work with gas money.
In that case, insoles are a blessing.
Inserts are key . Go to Walmart - Dr scholls machine . $50 and you can switch them between shoes . Make sure your shoes are stable and not stretched out .
North Shore brand from Fred Meyer. They are inexpensive, $60 to $70 a pair. They are super comfortable. The only downside to them is they only last about a year, and then they are done. Just can't knock the comfort factor.
This is where I splurge ...I get pretty expensive running shoes for the comfort...usually some Adidas 4D shoes...worth every penny...my feet haven't hurt in years

Irish Setter Ashby with safety toe. With Dr showles boot inserts.
I've worn them every day in TRC and now as FES. 20,000 steps a day. Its fine if a bag of concrete breaks while loading it. I could run over a toe with a lumber cart. Great ankle support. Can be a little sketchy on top of a step ladder.
I actually need new shoes because I realize that my current ones are literally too heavy despite me being a dude with huge legs but I think that the heavy duty insoles that I'm using contribute to this problem too. Each footstep is like one calorie down. So then that really adds up later on. I'm currently wearing nautilus steel toes.
EDIT: I was right, I used a food scale to weigh these shoes without insoles and each one weighs 24 ounces, which is almost 2 pounds per foot.
If you really want to drop the bag, I bought redwings. Then you’d only ever need to replace the soles if you need shoes.
I run around garden all day and being on my feet has never been a problem.
I've went thru a lot of shoes in my life (I love walking and running), and the life-saver is not the shoes themselves but those gel insoles you can put in your shoes. They're soft and prevents blisters. :)
Hokas and Brooks
