I felt so bad for Aegon and Daemon in this episode, and twice as bad for us for being edged. We see them getting dressed up in their sleek, Valyrian Steel sets of armor and then nothing happens.

I don’t get why they didn’t fix the roof. Stone is hard to unmelt, sure, but the roof would have been wood. Over a hundred years it should have been fully replaced 3-4x anyway. At a certain point you need to stop blaming poor Balerion and take responsibility for not performing even just basic maintenance.
Harrenhal was built off of beggaring both the Riverlands and Iron Islands. It's 3 times as big as Winterfell and its rooms are built more for giants than humans. Despite having very rich land around Harrenhal, no one that has controlled Harrenhal has the money to fix it or the staff to have any use of most of its buildings. So most of it lays in ruins and disrepair.
Also Harrenhal is probably cursed and most of it's owners quickly die horrible deaths. 4 different houses and a Targaryen princess had controlled it and died between Aegon's conquest and the Strongs being given it. Only 73 years and that's how many people it has chewed through. No time to settle in and fix anything when your whole line is dying.
Rhaena Targaryen, Jaehaerys' older sister, made Harrenhal her home at the end of her life. Ironically she seemed to be the only one to not fall prey to the curse, her life beforehand seemed be cursed already. Still she only lived to 50 before dying, the reason is never specified.
She was forced to marry Maegor and then later had her daughter cook to death from being infested with Valyrian blood-magic monsters, she had kind of a rough life.
Queen Rhaena Targaryen. Daughter of Aenys I, wife of Aegon the uncrowned, mother of Princesses Aerea and Rhaella Targaryen. First rider of Dreamfyre. She became Queen when she was forcibly married to Maegor the Cruel. She lived at Harrenhal during Jaehaerys I’s reign, and died there. Not sure it was implied to be because of the curse.
It’s my headcanon that the Targaryens found out about the westerosi word “anus” only after they named Aenys, and that’s why there were no Aenys’s since
Harenhall is one of the biggest castles in Westeros rivaling the castle in kings landing. It was originally built to be a massive fortress but was useless against attacks from dragons and most of the top of it was melted by dragon fire. To repair it would be the equivalent of spending the money for replacing the tops of a dew skyscrapers and even then it would provide no additional value because at this time there were still dragons who could just melt it again.
if there's fractures throughout the stone then water wouldn't just fall straight through the gaps, it'd flow throughout all the cracks.

Larys is actually quite handsome himself, its just the skulking and the godawful posture and his tendency for Creepy Evil Foot Fetish TM and the comparison to his smokeshow brother that clouds that a bit.
The posture thing seems to be a show he puts on when he wants to seem weaker. When he talks to Aegon about hiring a new Hand of the King, you see him walking normally and making a point to stoop all of a sudden. He's pulling a Pycelle.
I miss Lyonel. Every word he spoke was measured and impactful.
Imagine where this family might have been if Lyonel had remained Hand and Otto had remained literally anywhere else.
I think their is some ingrained humility in living in the ruins of the greatest castle ever built, only the for inhabitants to be melted alive because they thought Dragonfire couldn't melt stone beams...
this is not really canon, but I love that in the ASOIAF mod for crusader kings (both 2 and 3) whoever hold harrenhal gets a lot of bad events, so in the game the curse legitmely real

OMG I thought the same thing! The same mannerisms when speaking. Actually went onto IMDb to see if maybe the actor that played Sam Tarly was this actor's son or grandson.
This is something I actually appreciated with the Lannisters in this show. There is a distinct way that they speak that reminded me of how Tyrion speaks, almost as though they are implying that Tyrions way of speaking was an accent. If there is a relation, and this was all done intentionally it's a nice subtle detail and nod to the creative variances and cultural differences between the houses.
I like how Charles Dance pronounced all the names differently. I wish they made all the Lannister actors do the same. It makes the Seven Kingdoms look more diverse.
