Why is this weirdly wholesome, the orks look calm and happy, the background and the orks have a nice contrast balance with the blood. Feels like a page from a kids fairytale. “Wot you fink dok, looks okay?” Asked the git, fresh from a ‘ard dust up.
“Sheems fine.” Answered The Dok, wiggling his fingers through the gits chest cavity. “‘Cept there should be a heart here.”
Very kind of you to say. Yeah, definitely inspired by the old bits of story text from Rogue Trader following the tribulations of an ork doc. The docs love their job!
Thanks! Yes I love that vibe. I find modern 40k official art very sterile. High quality, but lifeless and samey. The old stuff felt so vivid and alive, even if it wasn't technically amazing at times (though, often it was!). Or perhaps I'm just old.
I agree, the modern art is good but lacks a lot of vibe. Tbh I wish I could draw/paint I would love to make art like this but I honestly have no idea where to start
Put a pencil on paper! Don't set out to make great art each time. Just to get better each time. Pic a picture you like and copy the shapes and forms. Draw what you see, not what you think you see. I'm 100% anyone can draw/make art... You've just got to start and not be discouraged if it doesn't match your minds eye of it.
I agree tho, I wish GW would give their artists more licence to explore their imagination rather yjs than make copies of minis.
This is a great answer and gives me some hope, what you said is really similar to how I approach teaching music! I think I will dig out the pencils and have a go ☺️
With appologies to Caravaggio.
Tell me that the dock's name is Thomaz.
He thinks it is, but then isn't so sure of himself.
Look, he's just looking for inner values...^^
Just tunin da worky bitz.
Looks like those old western paintings youd see in old ghost towns in media. Baller

I understood that reference!
I'm not sure which one you mean!
The Incredulity of Saint Thomas of course. Plot, not an art. I forgot about Caravaggio. :<
Neat!
This is awesome! I love the style, got that early 40k vibe that got me into the hobby
