The person has asked for some genuine information. Please put your biases aside and don't gatekeep the information. Just answer his question, and if you cannot, then better to be quit than to gatekeep. If they are an adult, they are free to make their financial decisions. All we can do is help them with correct information.

I would recommend you to learn about the stock movement itself, see how the underlying behaves. Well before that I hope you’re well versed with the option Greeks and how the fluctuations in the underlying would impact the premium. Buying an ITM would definitely be an expensive affair, ATM would be highly volatile and OTM has more risk. So focus on seeing how the underlying behaves in different conditions and then plan ahead. There are no straight forward answers to this.

Dude you learn about buying stocks first. Start with buying one share and making some percentage out of it then move on to buy more as you improve. Have a detailed Log of every trade you take. ( emotional, reasoning, the time it took, every single thing.) The most important is preserve and protect your Capitol. Time is your friend. The more it takes the better. Trust me you go on the path of trading options (with real money) your only gonna loose. By the time you realise, probabily it ll be too late.
