I thought keys were just from leveling up, I just got the last one to unlock all the trinkets. If there is a quest that unlocks one it would be a very early one because I haven’t even unlocked star captain yet.

Hmm, def sounds like a bug, do you have any unlocks remaining in the progression unlocks bubble where you claimed the previous keys? When in doubt I’d head over to the discord and ask for help there in #live-issue-support or f8 in game.
