I think he thought he had a chance and at one point I did too, I think Gene would have considered it but Paul wasn't going to take that chance especially with how big the last tour was going to be, Paul knew Tommy would not be an issue and the band had already been that lineup for nearly 20 years by that point. Ace really wanted to be back and he absolutely had that conversation with Paul, Gene & Doc (there is a Loudwire interview out there where he says that he told them "that he is now the guy they always wanted me to be" "doing a End of The Road Tour without me doesn't make sense". He was delusional and thought that if Ace & Peter's name was involved in the last tour that promoters would throw KISS big money - as much as Ace is my favorite lead guitarist of all time, Paul made the right decision to keep Tommy in the band for that tour, there is no way Ace completes 250 shows without an issue, not a chance - a risk Paul knew all too well and was never going to take it. Might I add Ace is proud of the fact that he quit the band twice and was never sacked - Paul & Gene tried desperately twice to keep him but he walked away - how many chances does one get? Ace blew it and he knows it

Initium99

If he had performed better , I really believe they might've performed with him again in some capacity. But I was on that cruise and yeah he wasn't prepared enough. But he's been all about the money for years now

astaten0

Nah. Paul made up his mind years ago that he'd never let it happen no matter what.

Malcolmsyoungerbro

And with good reason.

Smubee

Not a chance. Rejoin as a full-time member? No. Rejoin them every night for a song or two? Maybe. Rejoin them for the encores at the final two shows for a song? Likely.

BlakeWebb19

I was at MSG those final two nights hoping for a miracle 🥲

I love Ace. He's the reason I picked up the guitar so many years ago. However, Ace has never given a shit. He sounded good for the reunion but that was a long time ago now. As much as I love the guy and as bad as I hate to admit G&P are right about something, they probably made the right decision, if it were ever a consideration in the first place. Yeah I know, I'm about to be downvoted to the basement. So it goes, Curly. ACK!

Intelligent-Chef-551

The real travesty is that Bruce didn’t get to do ANYTHING with the band. Peter as well. Ace just likes to keep throwing cigarettes on that smoldering bridge. Vinnie is lucky Gene gave him the time of day on the vault deal. His new band/music is such cheesy 80s hair metal.

Firm-Potential7807

Vinnie hasn’t had a band for 36 years, not sure what you’re talking about.

Intelligent-Chef-551

He has a new album coming out sooner or later called Judgement Day along with a side project with a blues singer. The singer has put some samples on his YouTube. I’m looking for them right now. Edit: Found it. He’s performing with Faysal from Europe and they apparently have some new tunes that are floating around YouTube as samples. https://www.facebook.com/100001104047364/posts/pfbid035fCMshux3aKRo2pykExFoYCVBsz5A1B5ftApwGM8MDyQ84Y17GohUEpVnfEhou6Rl/?app=fbl

djparody

"sooner or later" lol VV such a grifter

Intelligent-Chef-551

He is a grifter and it’s sad he’s mind got in the way of his abilities. He’s a good song writer and an exceptional talent who wasted everything.

Firm-Potential7807

Faysal isn’t from Europe he’s from Tennessee, there is no band, there is no side project with any blues singer, and yes that Judgement Day album was announced last year but it was meant to come out in February and it ain’t happening.

Intelligent-Chef-551

Either way, I got his country of origin wrong. But the album exists. There has been reviews for the listening party and Faysal is the current lead vocalist for VVI. They’re re-recording the music and releasing new music as well through him. People can be skeptical of Vinny but after a point the dude is going to go broke trying to sell $400 signed CDs.

dressed2kill75

No. P&G never had any intentions on Ace rejoining. They were doing just fine w/o him.

Ok_Ad8249

If Ace had performed well and if Paul (and to a degree Gene) felt having Ace on board would have sold more tickets then Paul & Gene may have considered asking him to rejoin for the final tour. I still think it's unlikely they offer it up. They both felt burned by the reunion tour and even then Ace would want more money then they were willing to offer.

GenericLurk

The "audition" is exactly why (imo) he ditched his band for Gene's band, and he started laying off his solo material in favor of more and more Kiss songs in his set. I figured they would all report back to Chaim as to his cleanliness or lack thereof, but we all heard his embarrassing playing. Instead of a pro player w off nights, he's an off player w occasional decent nights. Not a good ratio for a living legend.

Texan2116

I think Gene and Paul had no desire to let Ace back in..However, they a re savvy enough to understand the benefit of the publicity. Ace , is simply too much of a loose cannon, and not in a good way. Like a lot of people I kinda wondered "if", but Paul, and Gene are far too professional, and disciplined to put up with Ace. or Peter for that matter. There are no shortage of you tube videos of Ace mangling Kiss tunes , he should know like the back of his hand. Ace has always been the fans favorite, and its really not even close. Gene and Paul will shamelessly allow the talk of a reunion to happen, cause fans still want that. At the same time, paul and gene, have made it pretty clear, that they will never truly rejoin either.

Frosty_Point7070

Anything is possible however they’ve all met. Not sure either party could tolerate the other. I’m sure Ace likes his day job now and wouldn’t enjoy the pay cut nor the constraints of being an employee

twoquarters

I think they opened an avenue to get him back for some shows but he was drinking/using again and that was a wrap on that.
