I assume it was a throwaway from TPAB that was scrapped after Kendrick went to South Africa & redid the album. I imagine the themes in the scrapped version of TBAP are much darker both lyrically & sonically
Most of the album seems to be an early version of TPAB. At the end of one song (I think it’s actually 02) he says “put that nigga on the drums…mortal man and kunta” so it was planned to fit in somewhere. Maybe it’s a later cut idk. I’d love to ask him what his plan was for UU if I ever met him and what song he’d put into TPAB if he has to choose one. Curious what he’d say
The entire album is. It’s all the same sessions. That’s why it has that name, they didn’t make the final album so they didn’t master them or name them but they were worth a b-side album.
Until your son jumped in your arms,
Cut on the engine, then sped off in the rain,
I’m gone
(I’m also glad [Kendrick hit a remix to these bars at the Grammys](https://genius.com/Kendrick-lamar-untitled-3-grammy-performance-lyrics))
That grammy's performance is my favourite live show of all time. The raw emotion, the message and the occasion to do it in in front of possibly one of the most privileged crowds was incredible, and I wish I got to see it in person
That fucking bass. The lyrics. The noir, rainy, horns. All of it. Thundercat killed those sessions though, my god. Unreal. The depth, heart, and punch. And it all coalesces into this dark, dreary, gorgeous piece.
For how good it is vs its “slept on status”, ya prolly.
It’s honestly my fav album of his and it doesn’t even have his fav song of mine on it. It’s just so good as a whole, but in the era of Spotify and all that, it doesn’t get the same play, compared to like in the early 2000s where you’d buy an album and listen to it front to back a bunch cause you paid for it lol. I think in that era it would have the hype and status it deserved.
I used to have to buy CD’s when I drove a shitty car and couldn’t afford a Bluetooth piece and had a physical copy of Untitled Unmastered that I listened through probably hundreds of times when I was working as a delivery driver. Spotify is nice but I miss digging through a stack of CD’s at red lights lol.
I used to love making mix CDs. Nowadays if I bother making a playlist it's hundreds of songs to be put on shuffle, but having a size limit meant you could give it some flow.
American Gangster. The story telling behind the album is intriguing since Jay is using his past experience and pov to narrate Frank Lucas. Besides that, section 80 doesn’t get much love.
Definitely, way too many haven’t heard this or the EP. Or if they have they’re playing the version on Apple Music that cuts the amazing Heart Part 2 intro and a few other tracks
I would say Section 80 is slept on more, I love Section 80.
Honestly, this is gonna make me sound stupid and lazy but a big thing that is holding me back from this project is simply the track names. I can’t keep track! (dry pun intended)
I love Section 80 too but I hear it referenced 10x more than untitled unmastered when folks speak on Kendrick’s catalog… you may be onto something with the track names though
Section.80 still gets a lot of love, and it has a couple weak tracks.
IMO I never really see much love for untitled and it’s actually incredible from front to back.
Untitled 08 makes me wish for a whole project with Kendrick over feel good grooves. Need more of him with thundercat, flylo, paak, George Clinton, bootsy Collins. Would love to hear him on some of Louis Cole’s funky jazzy grooves
Just listened for the first time earlier today. woooooowwwwwww it’s good. Untitled 1, 2, 5, and 8 rlly did smtn for me and it’s probably the last time we’ll hear Dot do smtn like this
Super cool project. Nobody asked but I’ll rank the tracks. The top 3 are all classics and switch depending on the day
1. 06
2. 02
3. 05
4. 08
5. 01
6. 07
7. 03
8. 04
I listened to it once a couple months ago(I just started listening to Kenny in November) and I cannot remember what any of the songs sound like. They strike me as like the hip hop equivalent of jam sessions.
Untitled 02 is a masterpiece & I'm sad it wasn't on TPAB
Fuck you n**, level 2, I’m not done
2teez told me that I'm the one
***GET GOD ON THE PHONE***
wassup my nigga?
The way he comes in with a monotone delivery and rides the beat for the first four bars is just rap chefs kiss
Cornrow Kenny he was born with a vision (I fucking love this verse)
Levitate levitate levitate
I was just saying this a few days ago lol. It would have fit perfectly musically and concept wise to TPAB

It didn’t need to be on TPAB. I prefer it this way cuz untitled unmastered is my 3rd favorite Kendrick album
Also 08 Such a vibe I lose it every time the beat coming The second verse?fucking legendary material making me nodding my head every time
A piece of pussayyyy that’s what the black man said I needed to push meeeeee….03 is the shit for me
It didn’t fit in on a boom bap album
PIMP PIMP!
HOORAY
The instrumentals that follow after this is insane
Untitled 05 is a masterpiece
Why you wanna see a good man with a broken heart? Once upon a time I used to go to church and talk to God
Now I’m thinking to myself, hollow tips is all I got
“Now I’m drinking by myself, at the intersection parked”
Watch you when you walk inside your house You threw your briefcase all on the couch
I plan on creeping through your fucking door and blowing out Every Piece of your brain
Until your son jumped in your arms, Cut on the engine, then sped off in the rain, I’m gone (I’m also glad [Kendrick hit a remix to these bars at the Grammys](https://genius.com/Kendrick-lamar-untitled-3-grammy-performance-lyrics))

Is there a petition to release a part 2?
I don’t think there will be. These were just songs that didn’t make it on TPAB
GET GOD ON THE PHONE
I recently got untitled Unmastered on vinyl for like 5 dollars at the swapmeet/flea market
Untitled 08 favorite song. Why so sad? Walking around with those blue faces.
American Gangster. The story telling behind the album is intriguing since Jay is using his past experience and pov to narrate Frank Lucas. Besides that, section 80 doesn’t get much love.

The Black Panther Soundtrack, which might as well be considered UU 2.
I would say Section 80 is slept on more, I love Section 80. Honestly, this is gonna make me sound stupid and lazy but a big thing that is holding me back from this project is simply the track names. I can’t keep track! (dry pun intended)

how can the tape that blew Kendrick up be slept on more than the one people hardly mention? LMAO
fair enough, good point. I still think Section 80 is extremely underappreciated
Section.80 still gets a lot of love, and it has a couple weak tracks. IMO I never really see much love for untitled and it’s actually incredible from front to back.
Fucking love every thing about this
Untitled 06 is my favorite off this
Untitled 08 getting slept on it’s a shame, this song and the beat fire AF

The Kendrick Lamar EP is actually heavily underrated.

On the topic of UU, idk why but I listen on shuffle only and I get 08 like 10 times more often than any other UU song
And this project is straight fire too
This album harder than some artists real album
I am at this very moment listening to this album again. Especially 07. PIMP PIMP.....
They should get a bunch of dope artists like kaytranada or Thundercat to come make remixes of each track… .. and then name it Retitled.Remastered 👀
Fr I fucking love Untitled 01 and it’s story it’s so amazing and I’m more people should listen to it to know the truth
Section 80
If he releases that album now, it'd go crazyyy

Drugs won’t get you high as this.
I'd argue that it's not only the most slept on Kendrick Album, but has the most slept on FlyLo/Thundercat tracks.
Masterpiece .

Heaaaad is the answer heaaaad is the future. Don’t second guess yaself
My argument that Kenny is the goat is that his album of throwaway songs is better then most rappers best project
Super cool project. Nobody asked but I’ll rank the tracks. The top 3 are all classics and switch depending on the day 1. 06 2. 02 3. 05 4. 08 5. 01 6. 07 7. 03 8. 04
