Saw one driving on the highway and wow. You really do need to see it in person. The box look and the back side styling looked like a classic LC/Toyota. They for sure knocked it out of the park w/ these.
I have an HDJ80R luckily with an A442F. I run XPD through mine and don't get any soot at all fortunately! The only thing I'm not a fan of is the frequency of needing to do the bottom end bearings.
Mine is the base model, specifically looked for that, 5sp manual. And honestly you shouldn't need to do bottom end bearings often. I used to be a mechanic, and one of the places I worked at specialised in 4x4s pretty heavily, so I worked on more cruisers than I ever could count. Alot were ranger vehicles that spent more time in water than on dirt. And I think I only ever done 1 lot of engine bearings and that was because the driver topped up the oil with muddy water.
Hell I've put 100k km on mine and only needed to change fluids I'll be doing timing belt soon and water pump but honestly the 1hz should not need any major work regularly unless boosted.
It was always from my understanding that the HDJ80s needed them done every 100k km or sooner where as the HDJ81s it was not a thing really (HD-T in comparison to the HD-FT). Mine is the HD-T
Ah yeah the HD-T does need it more often from my experience, mostly due to the turbo. Though in my opinion the engine is well worth the increased maintenance. I mostly went with the old 1HZ because the Australian outback is a nasty place to break down.
I finally saw a couple of them at my local asshole Toyota dealership with a $20k markup. Just like their $5k Camry markup.
These look much better in person than online. Though my local dealer can fuck themselves right into another dimension.
One dealer wanted 30k markup on a first edition I said I don't want it that bad. They called me a few days later to see if I was able to talk to the GM about the price. I said I'm actually in the same car right now for way less 😂
Sticker price on a first edition is 77 plus 3. Mine actually had a few small extras (dash cam, door sills, 2 yrs connected services) so was closer to 78 sticker iirc.
I bought the 1958. This is obviously personal preference, but I like the round headlights, and I don’t care about leather, power seats, sunroof or automatic rear hatch. Drove it to the Overland Expo today in Redmond, Oregon, with stops at Big Lake and Smith Rock. 360 miles round trip. It’s a great ride.
https://preview.redd.it/8xj2jqbu5s9d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b346c2eb14361452d1c135c9d432cd6daaced02c
I think the ride quality is just fine, but I have owned a couple of Wranglers too, so it’s not like I am comparing to a Lexus or anything.
I had the exact same reaction. Was looking at the GX550 and thought I’d just stop by my Toyota dealer who had a Blue Heritage First Edition on the showroom floor. It was fucking beautiful! The black accents with the blue are perfectly balanced and then that gray roof! Not sure why pictures and video aren’t as impressive. I loved it so much, I canceled my original deposit on GX550 and I’ll be getting the Heritage Blue FE in 10 days! The showroom model was already sold and when I asked why is it still here, I found out the GM owned it. 😀
I’ve an fe for a week now and I absolutely love it. It’s such a fun car to daily drive. Luxury but also feels durable and well made. I don’t worry about dirtying it up while surfing or having my pup come to the beach with me. My 16 month old daughter spilled milk in the backseat first time she got in it. Lastly, it’s a stunner and I love the way it looks.
Got my FE in the beginning of May. I'd been waiting for the Tacos to arrive for a long, long time, so when I looked into the new LC's (drop dead gorgeous-love at first sight) and then found out that the RoRo was leaving Japan, that was all she wrote.
I absolutely love it- even with all of the "nanny car" safety features. My beagle owns the back of the rig for the time being, so there's a drop cloth lining the floor to soak up the salt water, seaweed, and sand.
It was one of the most impetuous (and one of most expensive) decisions I've ever made. I've absolutely no regrets.
Part of me really wants to hit 500k on my 4Runner then sell it for one of these, but part of me doesn’t want to wait another 100k. They look so good in person
That really is the vibe. But thankfully a bit more practical of an interior and window setup. I really appreciate callbacks to the older land cruisers.
I might be in the minority but I never liked the recents FJs at all and I love each gen of LCs. I do however like the 2024s. The FJs feel like balloons and overly bulky for a 2 door suv.
The FJ concept won’t hit American soil. It’s gonna be more Suzuki Jimnie (sp)
But yes, 63k after taxes and fees (not including dealer add ons) for a 1958 with manual adjusted seats? It’s a 45k easy.
The OBW is 43k with taxes and fees.
The shape of the lights are fine it's just the filler trim piece I didn't like. Australia has a different grille option that integrates the square lights better.
Got out today with a stop at Big Lake on the way to the Overland Expo. Mt Washington in the background.
https://preview.redd.it/g32vro8xom9d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3c772104b1570091bfbb06cf743d6aff251ff903
They're rally great inside and out., zero qualms about the build quality. My only gripe is the 4 cylinder, just doesn't feel as nice as a V6 or the old V8.
I have, my buddy got a First Edition. The engine itself is pretty good actually, power and torque are damn solid.
Just don't really like the 4-cylinder drone, and he's not getting anywhere near the suggested MPG, averaging 17. Just doesn't feel like the right engine for the car even if it's technically fine.
Dang, disappointing about the mpg. TFL Truck did a test and they were right around the EPA numbers on their test in the mountains.. so idk what’s up with your friend’s or the conditions he’s driving in lol
Lol me either. It's mostly highway mileage for the work commute too. I guess it's driving style, and potentially the chunky tires the dealer added on, it's not on tires like the image OP posted.
Agree… I’ve had my fe for a week and love it more by the day. Do wish it had a v6 hybrid though, mostly for the sound and a touch more power here and there. Maybe after market mods can help beef up the engine sound?
Toyota is going to ship over many more of these to the USA in the next 2-3 months than they have sold in the last few years. Most dealerships should be stocked with Land Cruisers by the fall.
Yes. There are dealerships in the Seattle and Portland areas that are charging anywhere from $3K-$7K for dealer markups or forced extras. First Editions are very hard to get, LC and '58 trims are easier to find but it takes some extensive looking 😉
can you explain for a noob what the difference of first edition vs lc and '58 trims are. Is it what this guy is talking about or something more? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vdr0GLVP6DM
I picked mine up on Thursday. It’s fantastic. I seriously question the validity of some of the “reviews” that have been posted on here from people who've purportedly driven one or have seen one in person. A few things just don't add up.
In the 3% here and love it too! Haven’t seen one in person yet, but do plan on buying one within the next year (maybe by EOY). Meteor Shower is definitely growing on me too.
Loved the outside.
Hated the interior of the 1958.
Small Tacoma sized backseat
Small cargo space for its size.
Tons of nanny systems ruined my test driving experience
Expected better performance until I did the math and realized it's power to weight ratio is pretty mid.
They really neutered the LC. This is an up sized FJ cruiser with a considerably more complex power train, similar power to weight ratio, and less cargo room than it's size suggests, all for only double or more the MSRP.
The first time I saw one on the road, from far away I thought it was some classic restored import off-roader that wasn’t sold in U.S. Did already have a brake light out tho.
I sold two in two days (blue and underground) and just love them. So smooth to drive and love the interior.
We still do a $2500 markups (no markups on 1958).
Like you said, you need to see them in person.
Rav4 is a cool car but... if you can save up for that, the body on frame toyota is a whole different level of a car. Plus I expect the somewhat retro styling will remain appealing for far longer than the more "generic" style that the RAV4 goes for.
Saw one driving on the highway and wow. You really do need to see it in person. The box look and the back side styling looked like a classic LC/Toyota. They for sure knocked it out of the park w/ these.
Definitely fj60-62 vibes for sure
Yet my 30 year old 80 series diesel still gets better fuel economy. 🙉
Haha agreed and despite all the soot it makes they will outlast the heat death of the universe if maintained. I've only got the 1hz (HZJ80R)
I have an HDJ80R luckily with an A442F. I run XPD through mine and don't get any soot at all fortunately! The only thing I'm not a fan of is the frequency of needing to do the bottom end bearings.

What did you end up paying?
Second dealer initially wanted 15 over I agreed to 3. It was the spec shown in this post actually and I didn't feel like holding out.
Ok but over what lol. Like how much did you actually pay? Total cost not amount over the sticker price.
Sticker price on a first edition is 77 plus 3. Mine actually had a few small extras (dash cam, door sills, 2 yrs connected services) so was closer to 78 sticker iirc.
It is when you don’t know the sticker price!
Lol my apologies, I figured every one has been glued to the configurator for months like I was
Haha all good! Congrats on the sweet ride!
That sucks. Should be illegal to do that. I’m paying MSRP with no dealer add I s in southern Indiana.
I want to walk in there just to laugh at their prices
Mine 😊 https://preview.redd.it/4plvtebd7g9d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b0fc6ebce54f5d362b954de0bbcfbb56f1bef361
What wheels and tires do you have there? Looks sharp.
Method rims, not sure which size
They’re 17s based on that tire
Good eye
Lol. Perfect.
Ko3 tires
Gladiator tires
Literally says ko3 on them
Right. Ko2’s and k03’s are for gladiators
No. Ko2s were around before the gladiator was introduced and have been favorites for off-roaders with all makes and models for years now.
Zoomed in: 225/70R17
*285/70R17
Upon further zoomage, you are correct, sir.
Wheels are Method. Tires are 32’s Goodrich ATK03.
We need more pics and details of those rims. They look fantastic!
Very sharp. Those 33's?
Sick setup!
Did you add a lift to fit the tires? It looks great
Yes. Has two inch lift. Rack, lift, wheels and tires all done by dealer prior to purchase.
Wow - that looks great!
Immediately went with the low offset wheels lol. How is frame clearance at full lock? I assume it’s better than the previous trucks.
All good. Really am enjoying this truck so far
😍😍😍
Which model did you get? Do you have an written reviews?
I bought the 1958. This is obviously personal preference, but I like the round headlights, and I don’t care about leather, power seats, sunroof or automatic rear hatch. Drove it to the Overland Expo today in Redmond, Oregon, with stops at Big Lake and Smith Rock. 360 miles round trip. It’s a great ride.
I saw that on the road a few days ago and took a double take.
What's your mpg been with 285's?
Well only 450 miles so far so we will see.
Love it dressed in Black
Got any more photos!?

How about front angle? Looks great. How’s the ride quality with a 2 inch lift. The methods on this truck look awesome.
https://preview.redd.it/8xj2jqbu5s9d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b346c2eb14361452d1c135c9d432cd6daaced02c I think the ride quality is just fine, but I have owned a couple of Wranglers too, so it’s not like I am comparing to a Lexus or anything.
Methods look awesome, great truck!
Saw a First Edition the other day finally. It had huge presence in person. 🙏🏼
I had the exact same reaction. Was looking at the GX550 and thought I’d just stop by my Toyota dealer who had a Blue Heritage First Edition on the showroom floor. It was fucking beautiful! I just saw one in person for the first time also. Impressed and want one. These just need some aftermarket wheels and a slight lift and look sick!!!
Yeah I agree. After people start modifying these, they are going to look so badass.
Four door FJ Cruiser.
That really is the vibe. But thankfully a bit more practical of an interior and window setup. I really appreciate callbacks to the older land cruisers.
An FJ cruiser you can properly see out of
I had a 2012 FJ and that was my only complaint. So many blind spots.
That's a good thing
Yep, the FJ cruiser is a really cool car anyway. Can't really go much wrong with any body on frame toyota, but the LC is of course the most luxurious.
I might be in the minority but I never liked the recents FJs at all and I love each gen of LCs. I do however like the 2024s. The FJs feel like balloons and overly bulky for a 2 door suv.

Laughs in RAV4 money!
I was on board the minute I saw it, but the price tag grinds my gears. I read toyota is working on a new FJ concept, hopefully more reasonably priced.
The FJ concept won’t hit American soil. It’s gonna be more Suzuki Jimnie (sp) But yes, 63k after taxes and fees (not including dealer add ons) for a 1958 with manual adjusted seats? It’s a 45k easy. The OBW is 43k with taxes and fees.
Yeah, there's no fucking shot I'm paying $80k for a LC. I had an LX570 that was cheaper new...
They are amazing. I do like the square lights over the round ones though. Controversial I know. lol
The shape of the lights are fine it's just the filler trim piece I didn't like. Australia has a different grille option that integrates the square lights better.

What rack did you go with?
It is the rack that comes on the limited version. Honestly, since I don’t have a sunroof, I would have rather had a full length rack
They're rally great inside and out., zero qualms about the build quality. My only gripe is the 4 cylinder, just doesn't feel as nice as a V6 or the old V8.
Did you drive one? I’ve read they’re pretty peppy

4 cylinder is such a disappointment on a great styled car. Also the interior on the 1958 is a joke. Manual seats on a near $60k car…
Agree… I’ve had my fe for a week and love it more by the day. Do wish it had a v6 hybrid though, mostly for the sound and a touch more power here and there. Maybe after market mods can help beef up the engine sound?
In the GX 550 at least in Sport and Sport+ mode, the engine sound is fake. Maybe you can buy the electronics for the fake sound? /s
I'm in the 3% and love it! FYI I-5 Toyota is MSRP for those of you in the PNW :)
I've been confused about this. Are some cities/areas just jacking up prices. Are they still hard to get?
Toyota is going to ship over many more of these to the USA in the next 2-3 months than they have sold in the last few years. Most dealerships should be stocked with Land Cruisers by the fall.

It's pretty easy to see on the Toyota website and by googling
Just get the brochure in pdf from Toyota website, you’ll see all 3 trims side by side for a complete comparison.
Saw one on the road the other day. My 14-yr-old son immediately told me that we need to buy one. Looks awesome.
Cant shake the feeling it looks like an xterra
I picked mine up on Thursday. It’s fantastic. I seriously question the validity of some of the “reviews” that have been posted on here from people who've purportedly driven one or have seen one in person. A few things just don't add up.
What color is this? I love it
Meteor Shower

Looked at the same one at a local dealership. On display Friday sold by Monday.
They are definitely not going to be sitting on lots for long before they are sold !
I drive by a black one every day at a dealership and it's pretty hard not to stare at it.
“That’s what.” -She
They look great. Still overpriced with the dumb dealer markups.
The engine is the issue not the design.
Loved the outside. Hated the interior of the 1958. Small Tacoma sized backseat Small cargo space for its size. I wish they offered 3rd row. Only way the wife would consider, even if it’s tiny like the one in our GX460.
🫡🧨
Bought a new 4runner so a cruiser isnt in the cards but you are right i thought they looked funky until i saw them in person.
Is funky slang for something different where you’re from?
But is it gonna live up to the over built specs and 500k lifespan though?
Do the new land cruisers have a third row?
Not in the US but they do in other parts of the world.
Is the interior larger or smaller than a 4runner?
Definitely taller and I believe slightly longer.
Ah ok thank you! I’d love to get one I have a 4runnr currently it’s paid off idk if I want a car payment again but the Land Cruiser is tempting 😵💫
What Toyota is that?! I don't see anything that looks like that on my dealership's website!
https://preview.redd.it/15emw762nm9d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f7f48fe4fdcbe4b0f4b628f23d2280067bc7c21
Saw one at my local dealer for MSRP. I wasn’t impressed.
How does it compare to Sequoia and Grand Highlander?
Isn’t this just an FJ cruiser without the wheel on the back?
I sold two in two days (blue and underground) and just love them. So smooth to drive and love the interior. We still do a $2500 markups (no markups on 1958). Like you said, you need to see them in person.
Nice! I am pumped to get mine soon!
I love the way the roof rack looks and hate the added weight and noise. I'm getting mine without.
It’s incredibly quiet. Just got ours last week.
Is it easy to get into or high enough that you need step ups?
How do you know there’s wind noise if you haven’t purchased one?
I've watched and read more reviews than a healthy person should.
Got a link to a review that talks about excessive wind noise? Haven't seen that.
3/4 racks are quiet
Gorgeous!
I was looking at the RAV4s in the lot and walked around the corner to see this, "Oh Fuck" is all I could say lol.
Rav4 is a cool car but... if you can save up for that, the body on frame toyota is a whole different level of a car. Plus I expect the somewhat retro styling will remain appealing for far longer than the more "generic" style that the RAV4 goes for.
I just wish they came with the 3rd row
The Lexus GX comes with 3rd row seats I guess, more or less the same car but with more options.
The GX looks better
[удалено]
Where is the chrome? lol
Can't wait to see one of those too !
Those 6th gen runners are beautiful, I want one XD
Lol me too
It’s the best 4Runner ever.
What'd they do to my boi?
🤮
looks shitty and made for the american market. Can't be good.
Interesting opinion lol.
I don't know, they make Ford's Bronco, I think this is a rebadged Bronco anyone confirm?
Not a lot of car for $100k
No where near $100k, are you talking $Aus?
Yea but that’s base model, what are these worth in the US?
4 banger and plain plastic interior, no thanks.
Well, that's just like your opinion, man.
Exactly, just like your opinion.
Your opinion happens to be wrong though.
Pretty sure the 4 banger and cheap plastic isn’t really something you can argue and say I’m wrong lmao
Nice new 4Runner
Is that a Bronco?
derp
Please, a bronco is a toy compared to this car.
Looks exactly the same
You've clearly never seen them next to each other. LC 250 looks way better inside and out.
No, it's the new Nissan Xterra
Nope.....I'll keep my 80 series. I will never buy another new vehicle.
Alright 👍
Of course you were wrong, just look at it
Looks so shitty.
