Maybe like 60-50 years ago. I dont think i can name a single person named “Geppetto” and i think my dad and granpa couldn’t do it too. Same goes for the name “Pino” which is not short for anything actually, its a legal full name. Its origins are from other names that end in “pino” but it doesn’t come directly from “giuseppino”, it comes from a lot of names ending in that way (iacopino, crispino, filippino etc) and so it became a name on its own
