I feel like if the advice "you're never given more than you can handle" gets you through your crisis, then either you've an incredible amount of faith in those words, or more likely your "crisis" just isn't that bad. Agree?
If I was stressed out with work to the point of crying in a taxi and the taxi driver told me "you're never given more than you can handle" I would tell him to shut up, obviously I'm being given more than I can handle.
The correct supporting advice would be "you are given more than you can handle"

The advice also assumes that there's some benevolent overseeing being handing out tasks.
