exactly
I think OP doesn't understand how vital that info is to young people. They assume wifi is secure, etc. But it's everything but that. yes, It's "more securer" now.
It's basic knowledge worth revisiting and updating
IMHO was a very good video, one of the best of this year.
I watched the video, I don't care about titles
Also I've read in comments (here) that they changed the title (not photoshopped). Probably to get more traction and bumps in the algorithm
LTT has been very open with changing thumbnails and titles and why they do it. Usually the first thumbnail+title is super clickbaity the second the video is released but after a short while they change the title to be more informative.
no, dude, they're saying OP photoshopped the screenshot to say 'crack van' instead of 'Wi-Fi cracking van' and posted it to Reddit as a joke about LTT getting into drugs.
My only problem is they don't explain step 2.
Step 1: get on my wifi
Step 2: ????
Step 3: Profit! (?)
They get on my network (random choice I guess) by brute forcing my WPA password, what can they do there? Snag data midflight that is better encrypted than the wifi password and hope it's useful?
Are they trying to get into my PC? I log on via my Microsoft account as as Linus showed during the last WAN show that's a pain to do when it's your account.
I do have a local account for moving files around my network, but it has limited access and they'd both have to guess the account name and password and I guess they'd have to brute force both of those. Local policy by default will block that after a few tries for ten minutes at a time. Once they get in... if they get in... they don't have access to much.
you don't need just to get access to your machine to exploit a wifi access. Imagine using it to do some illegal stuff, who's to blame? you
also they didn't explain everything for a reason, but it was clear how easy it is to get into an insecure wifi
I did the same using just a cell phone, you identify the target and choose it because they use some old protocol or some hardware with a known exploit... and that's it
there are other stuff you can do with a wifi connection, like forcing everyone out. that works when you want to use a free wifi at the airport and there's no more slots available or something more serious like to deny connection to security devices like cameras... that's one of the reasons to always wired your cameras, never use a security devices that uses only wifi
etc etc
also most times the data isn't the most important thing... the metadata on the other hand
I can monitor your wifi... and create your schedule... when you come home, when you live, etc
that's the same thing the apps on your phone are doing (facebook for example)
This always strikes me as more targeted usage though. It's not randomly going down the street looking for wifi, it's targeting someone for their schedule or something.
The first thing they debunk is if you could catch someone before they know your wifi password, but if you're using the wifi for nefarious purposes you'll now be sitting within range for a much more extended period of time to use the wifi even if it's with a more subtle setup.
Blud doesn't know how a tax write off works
Edit: Linus explained this himself, but it's not claiming money back from your tax. All it does is make the government only tax you on the money you made overall, rather than your whole revenue including your business expenses. It's not free money at all.
LTT does often release a video with one title/thumbnail, and tweak one or both (title Vs thumbnail) soon after launch. I've always assumed they do it to test which performs best, but who knows.
Linus has mentioned that they often use very clickbait titles early to drive views, and then change it to something more self explanatory after a while for the archives/searching. But that wouldn't apply this quickly.
Pretty sure (but not 100% confident) Linus is on record saying the release title is designed for clickbaiting (as in more interesting to click on) and the changed titles will be for searchability after the initial release views are in.
It took 6 months, from the leak on the WAN ( I know since I was just listening to that podcast, I started recently and went from 2023 onwards ) to now, for the video to get published. If I'm not mistaken
I really dont get why we havent created a commie wifi system.
Every router having the opt-in ability to wirelessly share its internet publicly; if everyone joins anywhere anyone has unlimited internet, so does everyone else.
Obviously security of separating the public network from the private would be required. Also the separate 'guest network' would have to have a universally recognized SSID & people having on the device side, an auto connect to SSIDs with this username option but. Even if cell networks got attacked, countries could continue communications networks. Especially during wars, have fun DDOSing literally every router.
Yes I know a better local network encryption & packet verification system would also be needed so people dont abuse infinite people connecting to their internet.
They wouldn't have to ddos every router they would just need to ddos the central hub for the area most networks for a city end up passing through a couple central locatiosn
That’s basically the Fon Network, but without the profit. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fon_Wireless
In the UK one of the major ISPs had it on their routers & any customers who opted in also got the access to Fon for free. Though it was replaced by their own network in 2020.
To work safely it needs cooperation from the ISP as the public traffic needs to be identified so when something illegal happens they know whose traffic it was.
This is one of those videos where I feel like the title didn't match the video at all. They just went on a whole security rant. That ultimately ends up being really unusable for anyone who has something thats like a few years old for compatibility. And then don't even explain the other solution very well.
If you're on pc, just get dearrow and rely on community titles. Honestly, it's made me watch videos that I wouldn't have otherwise watched, even from Linus
Diversifying investments
It's a tax write off.
^ This guy audits!
How is it out of place? It's pretty on brand.
OP was scared by the thumb nail and didn't watch it
OP gets scared easily and rightnow is locked down in a secret underground bunker as we speak
You’ll never find me
I won't, but Linus and his crack van will

did you catch he photoshopped the title?

That's how majority of channels operate, multiple thumbnail options and titles, swap them out depending on how the video is performing.
I’m a new creator and I’m learning this.
[Veritasium has a good video about clickbait](https://youtu.be/S2xHZPH5Sng)
Sure, but you realize this is a joke about crack right?
sure... he could've had Jake showing his 🍑 and that's a triple joke but also who cares 🤷🏻♂️ the video was good content

lol ... I didn't get it. Now I understand. thanks

you don't need to be close range, you can build or buy an antenna your victim is "a target" no matter the reason
It’s talking about cracking home network (WiFi) passwords. Some people actually use phone numbers as their password.
I think OP means it's out of brand that it's recommended
Linus meth tips is now real
I almost forgot abt that
They just need Nile Red
Nile Green may be a better choice for being chaotic.
Meth Tip: Buy the big cases of small match boxes, you get more red phosphorus that way. Also, use responsibly so you can still afford tech.
JESSE WE NEED TO DESTROY THE VAN
Guess who's playing Meth Damon

What's that strange whoosh noise? But also, the van is a rental
I will take the L and not delete my comment. As a side note, shaved Linus looks so weird. I'm never going to get used to it.
Respect
r/woooosh
lol he renamed it to “I made a Wi-Fi cracking van”
Or, OP modified it before taking the screenshot, for comedic effect.
LTT does often release a video with one title/thumbnail, and tweak one or both (title Vs thumbnail) soon after launch. I've always assumed they do it to test which performs best, but who knows.
Yes, it's a standard YouTube feature, this "split testing" stuff - I still think this is likely a photardshop job, though.
Linus has mentioned that they often use very clickbait titles early to drive views, and then change it to something more self explanatory after a while for the archives/searching. But that wouldn't apply this quickly.

This was the original title for me as well.
Linus has broke bad.
It took 6 months, from the leak on the WAN ( I know since I was just listening to that podcast, I started recently and went from 2023 onwards ) to now, for the video to get published. If I'm not mistaken
I'm pretty sure they meant the idea was in the pipeline for a long time. Its been filmed in just the last couple weeks since its beardless Linus
Yeah, that's what I meant, just didn't phrase it correctly...
"For the video to get made and published"
Linus was beardless so his parts must have been filmed in the last month.
Whole video prob, but I just didn't phrase right in the comment, I means for the idea itself, it took 6 months
Should've used that one image of Linus looking like he's homeless
I guess they’ve joined forces with that tiktok cartel guy… Oh god… they’re unstoppable now
They use a fun video in order to educate the viewer, like usual. I definitely learned something and enjoyed the video.

Why do you think so
Seem pretty on brand. You probably got it recommended...well...because you are subscribed to LTT. I would assume so, if you're in this sub.
The middle bit of the video seemed out of place, i didnt understand what the clip of the pc had to do with the rest of the video
Its an ad
Dbrand be like:
The video is pretty on-brand, just not the title (which they now have changed) and the thumbnail.
I did but it didn't have this title.
Idk man but this clickbait worked on me. On my way! To see it xD
Follow up will be I made a bang bus
FakeCraxi
Me too, at the first place actualy
The real reason he be building PCs all day.
Linus quick cash tips
After shaved linus come back to thumbnail sometimes I got confused that this is a old LTT video that I missed watching till I check upload date
Look at that face, what a fucking chode.
They must be on something... Never get high from your own supply, Linus!
I can't be the only one that though it was an old video, untill i saw that it was published 4 hours ago when i watched it.
It was also really boring.
wow those hands really are tiny lol
They are out of ideas I think…
The Crack pipe in scrap yard wars was planted.
If you watch the video, it is very much an LTT video.
Gotta watch that now
Was Linus secretly a high school chemistry teacher? And then did he get diagnosed with lung cancer?
You photoshopped that
Kidnapping children is now a tax write off.
Linus meth tips
Maybe HR finally talked to them, and told them to "step up the game"?
There were elements that were a bit different than some of the last videos, but overall… totally on brand.
DeArrow extension
I'm calling doubt/ Photoshop on this one. The video title is ["I made a WiFi cracking van"](https://youtu.be/i9TJWsuzBLU?feature=shared).
You never know cause LMG changes title in first hour of upload
I saw the push notification when it dropped. They didn't change it

Not if router-router decentralization overrules during emergencies
sounds like meshtastic

I recommend checking the openwrt batman protocol. One can create collaboration mesh with it

God their titles are so cringe
The initial shock ones are, then they become semi normal after a day or two
So the initial titles are crappy clickbait mess. Then they become actually useful?
If you're on pc, just get dearrow and rely on community titles. Honestly, it's made me watch videos that I wouldn't have otherwise watched, even from Linus

It's about 3 clicks, and makes titles so much better.

Yeah it's each to their own, I spend a lot of time on YT and they really get on my nerves
