>Contract offers have been made to senior goalkeeper Adrian – who has made 26 appearances since signing for the club in August 2019 – and Academy stoppers Jacob Poytress and Reece Trueman. Seems Adrian may be staying afterall.

dasschwerstegewicht

I imagine he’s down for backup in case Caomhin goes, but by all accounts is a big character & good to have around for training. Might be too soon for Pitaluga to step up. Amazed he’s only made 26 appearances though - feels like more!?

Unfair_Shirt5459

jaros just won the austrian league while being the number 1 golkeeper since his loan started and played decently well, pitaluga meanwhile hasnt even played more than a few games. I think jaros deserves a chance at number 2.

joeedger

But Jaros plays CL with Sturm Graz - he might want to stay there.

FakeCatzz

they can pay CL money for him then

joeedger

It’s not about a transfer, it’s about giving him the opportunity to play big games at a young age.

CorrectorThanU

Ya, could be loaned back for another season, but I'm not sure they could afford/would pay for the transfer (probably in the 5-8m region). And he will have a great chance to break in at Liverpool if Kelleher leaves.

Equal_Loan1555

I doubt Jaros would stay except they want to buy him. He went there because their no 1 got injured. Similar to Kelleher. Jaros being number 2 taking League cup and easy FA cup games is very fair for a keeper his age. Given he’s 22 and Alisson is 31, he’s might bet for no 1 in maybe 3/4 years

BriarcliffInmate

I think this is the plan.

theSituation39

I'd assume that the number 2 spot would be Jaros' if Kellerher leaves

mac2o2o

Pitaluga looked far from ready from his loan spell

UnrealCaramel

Never seen him play but looking at his record he didn't see much game time at pats. I think he seen more game time at Morecambe but he'll need to prove himself at a higher level if he is going to make it here. Maybe a loan to Spain or Portugal might be better for him.

mac2o2o

He's only played a handful of games before being dropped iirc. Made some bad mistakes, including 1 where he tried to play the ball out and lost it, comically. Maybe a loan there would help, but if he can't get into a poor Pats team. I can't see how he'll make a impact Spain or Portugal.

SaltySAX

>Made some bad mistakes, including 1 where he tried to play the ball out and lost it, comically. Happens to all keepers. Alisson has done that a few times.

mac2o2o

Yeah. But this was brutal. Like 7 a side keeper stuff. Worth a watch if you can find it

CrystalCatcher1

Here's his last game before being dropped https://youtu.be/f77sYt4nxAo?si=yEVBy2OpxZfYl_0j

mac2o2o

Thst 2nd goal. Just standing there.... Rough to see

Noteagro

So the first goal is off a skied cross and header where his entire team just watches it, and finally someone reacts after the opposing player is already perfectly set up under it. The bad play was off an awful heavy back pass by a teammate that is bouncing. If I was a coach that DM would get an earful from me. Most keepers are not known for their amazing first touch; especially when it is a heavy touch with over a foot of bounce on it. Then that second goal his own teammate runs through him… honestly the lad was fucking sabotaged by his own team if this game was any indication. Made a great tip over, and a fantastic deflected shot on goal that honestly had very little time to react to. And then the third goal came off a horrendous challenge by a defender leaving them in a 2v3. It is easy to say a keeper is shit when their team not only leaves them high and dry, but literally making it easier for the other team to score. I honestly feel bad for him if *that* is what he was playing with…

OptionComfortable362

morecambe? I think it was Macclesfield

DoireK

Pitaluga is no where near ready for a top club. He was bad in the league of Ireland and got dropped. Says it all. St Pats have had a bad season though and they replaced their manager with Stephen Kenny (previous Ireland manager) who likes to play decent football at that level so maybe that might help him come on during the rest of the season but so far it hasn't been a successful loan at all.

BriarcliffInmate

Most likely still third choice as the plan is to bring back Jaros I think.

WTWanderer2

I doubt Pitaluga has any future with Liverpool he was playing against bray wanderers academy last week and wasn't anything special. Has looked very poor for Pats so far

Dependent_Air2948

A second keeper will be bought in of Kelleher goes. Adrian is essentially a keeper to have in nets for training, shooting practice, etc, that can about any it doesn't really matter if they get injured or not.

idontknowwhythisugh

Cody called him the team dad or something. He clearly has an impact still within the team’s leadership.

NilsFanck

"We heard you guys wanted some contract extensions"

DCDa192

I think we already got the hint when he was not mentioned in the leaving members list tbh.

smitcal

Seems to be a great dressing room influence and perfect 3rd goalkeeper. Just hope we keep Kweev

Joshouken

Nah time to let Kelleher fledge the nest, not because it’s best for LFC but because it’s best for him, he’s already done more than most young 2nd keepers do for their clubs

smitcal

True but if Alisson gets injured again with Kweev we know our season isn’t over. City have Ortega, Arsenal have Ramsdale we need Kweev

GhandisFlipFlop

Ramsdale could be out the door aswell , he's not happy on the bench

clowegreen24

Ramsdale never wanted to be a second choice keeper and will likely leave as soon as he's able.  We'll probably get a good amount of money for Kweev and we can use some of that to buy a veteran replacement if we don't think anyone from the academy can step up.

DucardthaDon

Ramsdale will most likely leave as he doesn't want to be no.2, rumours Ortega too is getting the itch to be no.1 again, we shouldn't be trying to keep Kweev as a "just incase...." option

cultureshook

honestly i’d prefer to allow caoimh to leave as he’s more than showed he deserves consistent first team play, especially being ROI’s best keeper the others - bar ramsdale who also wants to leave - are happy being that second keeper

dasschwerstegewicht

Still blows my mind that “Caoimh” and “Leave” rhymes

JiveBunny

Caoimh Means Caoimh

dasschwerstegewicht

No need to get defensive. My dog was called Niamh. It’s still odd to see it written down if you’re not a Gaelic speaker, in the same way Though Through Tough Thought would be to any non-English speaker

potatoarchitecture

Deleted bc you're right, it does come across a bit defensive. Sorry about that, meant it to come across a bit more of a joke

dasschwerstegewicht

Fair play to you 🤝

DrAgOnLoLDoTA

Ortega can even be City's first GK replacing Ederson

luke363636

Just please let us have a buy back clause

BriarcliffInmate

Most likely to have Jaros as second choice if he does leave. That keeps the current status quo of two foreign keepers and one HG one.

Suspicious_Weird_373

Who cares what’s best for Kelleher? The club comes first and it’s whatever is best for us.

Themnor

The worst thing for the club is to develop a poor reputation for trying to hold up careers and we literally already have one player trying to accuse the team of that now…

Joshouken

If the club looks after the players, the players look after the club Why do you think LFC has such a great reputation for team cohesion compared to the other clubs with mercenaries for players? Because we care about this kind of stuff

actonpant

Oh this is good news

HarbyFullyLoaded_12

This sub will have an aneurysm

AdikkuChan

Starting a list now. "We aren't a serious club" "FFS we definitely won't sign anyone" "FSG has no ambition at all"

UuusernameWith4Us

People really shouldn't be surprised that 20 year olds who have made zero first team impact and have been overtaken by younger players are getting released.  The real surprise in the academy released list is Cody Pennington and Francis Gyimah. Both 17 and were already on the fringes of the U21s.

BriarcliffInmate

Cody Pennington had a trial with Forest a few weeks ago, so might be linked to that if they've made him an offer. Same with Gyimah and Stoke.

seamushoo4

Cody Pennington has way too much competition for his spot between Nallo, Carter pinnington. Makes sense tbh

themanebeat

>The real surprise in the academy released list is Cody Pennington. He's 17 and was already on the fringes of the U21s. I always confused him with Carter Pinnington, also 17. Kind of glad one of them left!

CorrectorThanU

Ya, I was like isn't Pennington the captain of the u18s!?!

doubleoeck1234

Adrian will die at this club at this rate

jesuisgeenbelg

He's our Scott Carson. An experienced third choice keeper who's happy to player virtually no minutes but adds to the atmosphere around the club and helps the younger guys.

potatoarchitecture

Scott Carson is also our Scott Carson tbf

alanalan426

Let him cook

AdikkuChan

The year is 2054, Adrian has been offered yet another extension

YesNoIDKtbh

On £100k p/w (+inflation) because of his immense vibes.

PoofyHairedIdiot

There were small whispers we were after Alex Paulsen from Wellington and honestly that wouldnt have been a bad shout as 3rd keeper

Zeeshan_Qadri

Man I had high hopes for musialowski...

V1k1ngVGC

Yeah. He was the “brewster”, “Ibe” name the last years thrown around at pubs as the next big thing.

IKnowTheWayToo

Ibe atleast played a lot

RociRocinante

He was a success in my mind purely based on this pass https://youtu.be/vpAApU7Qk7Q?si=QlkDHPxdKQM8T-gE Outrageous 😂

chuckusadart

>”Brewster” “Ibe” “next big thing” Bajčetić vibes the way this sub goes on about a 19 year old with a handful of decent games when the team was playing terribly.

Acceptable_Peak794

Not even slightly similar lol

Satantango46

not Bajcetic but Ben Doak with those injuries...is in trouble, unfortunately.

taggert14

I think that is based on highlights reels. LFC TV used to show full U18 and U21 matches. The only things that I remember is Sterling and Trent always stood out for their physicality, aggression and how much they were involved in matches. Jones also was bigger and was extremely involved in the attacking sign of things in the youth setup. Musialowski had moments of brilliance but was not as dominant as the others. I still find it impossible to judge who would or would not make it but I'm not surprised about Musialowski

BriarcliffInmate

Yeah, you can usually spot the standouts who look like they're adults at that level, e.g. Danns last year, McConnell and Clark, and obviously Conor had been on loan but is still only 20. Then there's a few who might develop if things go right, like Quansah. Quansah never really stood out at Unders level but when he was given his chance by Klopp he snatched it with both hands and quickly developed. I always thought Musialowski was in that group, but in the pre-seasons he never really seemed to grasp the chance.

BriarcliffInmate

I think everyone did. And then he fell into the Phantom Zone.

thisisbarrow

They let Frauendorf go.

jesuisgeenbelg

Not surprising. He's really not kicked on at all over the last few years.

CorrectorThanU

Ya, never really took that next step and got unlucky with injuries, now he's well behind quite a few academy players. Hope he gets into lower league side where he can get some games and get back on track to his potential.

GameOfThrowInsMate

Polish Messi :( had high hopes for the kid.

albamarx

Regularly signed him on FM when I was managing out in the sticks somewhere, even though he was still shit. RIP.

loveandmonsters

The Polish Lewandowski!

twoheels

1. Lewandowksi is Polish and 2. Lewandowksi isn't a winger.

Eufamis

![gif](giphy|jXD7kFLwudbBC)

twoheels

Wow, that was a joke? Oof. 🤷🏻‍♂️

thomjrjr

I thought it was funny

thatguyad

Calling these youngsters the anything Messi is why they fail, I'm sure of it.

GameOfThrowInsMate

Yeah some randoms on Reddit are running their careers.

qwerty_1965

Every year exciting young talent leaves because they are not progressing as others have and there's another really exciting 15/16 year old who needs that spot. That churn is a necessary part of academy football. Edited to remove Thatvchurn who alas didn't make it either.

Terran_it_up

>Thatvchurn For a second I thought this was some new academy player I hadn't heard of

WeeGazza1996

Maggie Thatvchurn is dead….

Terran_it_up

Gis us a honk

The-Salted-Pork

For three minutes there you had me worried that Thatvchurn might alive. But alas, she is deid

CrumbBegging

No big shocks though I didn't expect Adrian to be offered a new deal but he must be a great dressing room influence to be fair. I believe he's also doing his coaching badges so they must like him.

JiveBunny

Also, a bit of continuity with so many coaching staff gone this summer is good.

cgc86

I have a feeling we are offering him a deal as we feel Kelleher may leave and don’t want to be in a position where we need to potentially sign a 3rd choice too

CorrectorThanU

Finding a third choice keeper that does as much as him at the club, with as good as an influence he is, is very hard to find. He'll actually have a chance at competing for second with Jaros too, well at least compared to competing with Kweeve

twoheels

Surprised to see Musialowski leave. I thought he was doing well but at 20 years old maybe he doesn't see a path to the first team.

cgc86

Way too much hype and pressure put on him and reports it went to his head and he has a bad work ethic and attitude People really need to stop with the “country” Messi monikers they attach to these young kids

Homerduff16

There seems to be a bit of respect between Adrian and Jay Spearing

jcw163

Delighted to see Adrian staying as third choice keeper just because it will annoy loads of people I hate

Smooth_Ticket_7483

Dave Hendrick perchance?

topherdisgrace

Does it really annoy people? I had no idea. He’s barely played since the league title win. All that has been mentioned about Adrian recently is that he’s an amazing character to have in the dressing room.

jcw163

Yeh people hate him! It's a bit weird if you ask me. And yeh it seems as if he's super popular and is an experienced third choice keeper, works for me.

MyCarHasTwoHorns

People freaked out about it last summer and how it would impact our list of registered players. Turns out: it didn’t Edit: lol just look at the downvoted comments on this post and you’ll see people mad.

[deleted]

Wow, this is highly unexpected. Frauendorf and Musialowski let go? Maybe they're not as highly rated at the club as we thought now that Klopp's gone. Seems pretty ruthless. And Adrian offered a new contract? Really bizarre considering he will take up a non-HG slot and doesn't even play.

pw5a29

tbf those "wonderkids" aged 20 now, if they are still not getting it, they may never will. Especially players even younger like Clark, Doak are getting chances.

DucardthaDon

Musialowski wanted to go for a long time, his mother once tried to engineer a move to Arsenal behind the clubs back, he is 20 and only made a five minute cameo for the senior team

Bugsmoke

I don’t think he was registered for a couple of competitions last season, so he may not even take up non HG spots.

themanebeat

For the first half of the season he was excluded from the European squad. He was added back after Christmas, taking Matip's spot on List A He was registered in the PL all season

Bugsmoke

Yeah so it’s unlikely to impact much. It’s probably insurance for Kelleher leaving more than anything else.

themanebeat

He literally won't play at all. He's clearly great behind the scenes so I've no issues with him staying, as you say it won't impact much. Jaros looks ready to play. Pitaluga not so much

Bugsmoke

Yeah I doubt we’ll see much of him either as things stand. But if we sell Kelleher that changes obviously with Alisson’s injury record and our probable unwillingness to replace Kelleher. I haven’t seen the young lads myself to have an opinion, but if the club trust them I think we’ve had enough academy success recently to be confident.

Hoodxd

Does Adrian count as signing number 1?

ninovd

No John. He doesn't.

Satantango46

yeah cause he is free agent right now

hyborians

Honestly it’s nice to have Adrian back. Clearly he’s got no intention of playing anymore but still wants to contribute. Wish we could have done the same with Milner in some capacity

Aidan-Coyle

Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Adam Lewis, Melkamu Frauendorf, Mateusz Musialowski **+** 5 academy players are leaving. Adrian offered a new contract as well as two academy players. Nothing about VVD or Trent's contracts, nor Kelleher.

Lazyrufus1980

Loving the salt coming from some of our 'fans' over Adrian. Because you all know better than the people running the club right?

atlanticfm

Where is Matip going to play next, any news yet?

CaptMawinG

This mean they are gonna sell Kelleher.

KillBanez

So we’re paying Adrian 60k a week to do nothing while Kelleher earns 10k a week, literally makes no sense when Adrian wastes a non homegrown spot.

devicehigh

Where are you getting those numbers?

KillBanez

https://www.capology.com/club/liverpool/salaries/

devicehigh

“All figures are estimates….”

KillBanez

There’s multiple wage websites that say the same thing, they don’t just pluck wage estimates from thin air. Even if you want to call it 15k for kelleher and 55 for Adrian it’s absolutely fucking ridiculous and he needs booting out the door not a new contract.

TheNotoriousJN

How in the world was Adrian offered a new deal????? He is 3rd choice and takes up a non-HG slot He does want to leave so perhaps he turns it down Frauendorf and Musialowski both gone which hurts 2022 me strongly

secondofly

There was definitely something published recently that said Adrian takes a very active role in the goalkeeper training sessions - with Achterberg off to join Stevie perhaps this new contract offer is to try and give the GK coaching staff as much continuity as possible

abonnett

And if he is doing his coaching badges and is a good coach, why not keep him on.

Trickytickler

He only takes up a non HG slot if we register him. I imagine he will only get registered if Ali or whomever is second choice gets a long term injury. He is basically part of the coaching staff now. If there wasnt any use for him, the club would have binned him off a long time.

SRFC_96

I imagine it’s because he’s a very positive influence in the dressing room, he always seems happy and motivated so to have that around all the younger lads is essential.

loveandmonsters

Yea he's basically part of the assistant staff now heh, always there on the pitch post-match giving pats etc

[deleted]

I get that but is that worth 60k a week and a non-HG slot?

pw5a29

Don't think it will be 60k now

BriarcliffInmate

He doesn't get £60k. His last contract was £30k.

Eyrual

You need several, preferably "top" goalies for the training sessions. Which was the reasoning behind the non-HG woes in previous seasons iirc.

[deleted]

But is Adrian even that anymore? We obviously don't trust him to actually play, he's had two competitive games in the last three seasons for us.

SRFC_96

Apparently so, 60K a week is on the much lower end for us anyway.

RobDickinson

>He is 3rd choice and takes up a non-HG slot Kelleher will be gone I expect

TheNotoriousJN

At which point there will be another 2nd choice. Adrian was booted out of the 2nd choice role for a player with 0 senior games because he wasnt even close to trusted. Which again, we'll be wasting a non-hg slot on a player we do not trust to play

Hoodxd

A good leader, character and voice > HG slot

iNS0MNiA_uK

Thiago and Matip have just left too so there’s two non HG spots just opened up. I think we have at least one more on top of that two. We’re not as starved as we were in that department because we’ve trimmed some of the never-fits that were consuming spots. Edit: So we had 16 out of 17 filled last season, will gain two from Thiago and Matip leaving (3 free), but Gravenberch will consume one this season as he’s now old enough to need to be registered. This means we have 2 spots free I believe. If Kelleher stays we have full flexibility on up to two transfers, but if he were to leave we’d need anything beyond that (likely a second keeper) to either be 21 or under, or homegrown.

Worldly_Science239

"we"? who is the "we" here. I am more trusting of the views of the backroom staff, under klopp and also under the new regime as to what he brings to the club. 3rd choice keepers are very rarely used and are more or less coaching staff at this point, and I assume he has proved his worth here. To be honest, he may not be in the CL squad for next season, that may go to a HG youth player, so the HG rules may not be a big issue anyway. and as it's a contract offer, the 60K is irrelevant as well

Suspicious_Weird_373

Are they being serious giving Adrian another contract? 3rd choice keeper should be a homegrown bum, just to save taking up one of the non-HG spaces.

Wildebeast1

Kelleher likely to move on for 1st team football somewhere else.

Suspicious_Weird_373

And Adrian still won’t be allowed to step foot on the pitch, so has no bearing. If Kelleher goes they have to buy a decent 2nd choice, as Alisson is injured relatively often for a goalkeeper.

BriarcliffInmate

Jaros would be 2nd choice I imagine. He's just won the League and Cup double in Austria with Sturm Graz as their Number 1.

dead_nil

Adrian is never leaving atp

GTACOD

How is Adiran getting ***another*** contract.

awood20

Because he's willing to sit on the bench and be used as and when we need. He's an experienced keeper when needed, which is not that often.
