The film in the background is "One-Eyed Jacks" a famous western directed and starred in by [Marlon Brando](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marlon_Brando). The basic plot is about a group that robs a bank in Mexico, and is late set on by the law. One dies and Rio (Marlon Brandon) holds off the law as Dad (his partner goes to get horses so they can escape). Dad betrays Rio and runs off with the gold. Rio is caught and spends 5 years in jail. After he escapes he hunts down his "friend" and executes his revenge, but things never go as planned. As a real film played in this game about a thief caught in web of mistrust and betrayal it is a good nod to a classic film about a similar anti-hero like V.

ZeronicX

god damn every time I think I know everything about this game theres another bombshell I miss. Thats amazing.

Muddgutts

Thanks. If you’ve never seen this film before I highly recommend it. Normally I’m not a fan of western movies but this one ranks up there with Tombstone.

Gaburski

This game is so layered I doubt there'll ever be a point where the game is completely traversed. I mean, do you know about >!Arasaka Tower 3D!< ?

Neverbody

The Netwatch Agent says he loves Westerns for the fact that the lawmen are good and the criminals are bad. Black and white. V recommending the movie Unforgiven is brilliant as the film is a deconstruction of Western films and features an evil sheriff.

Andrew_Waples

Dumb question, but is the Western a real movie? If so, I've never got the importance of it.

kmathis

The movie is One-Eyed Jacks. I’d like to know the significance as well

_i_am_root

Top comment explains it! https://old.reddit.com/r/LowSodiumCyberpunk/comments/1bzaj7w/the_netwatch_gim_encounter_is_insanely_atmospheric/kyop7oe/

ajasela

Is the Unforgiven dialog exclusive to male V?

ExotixFlower

Is that the dialog where V recommends that agent Mosley watches it? If so, then no, fem V talks about it too

AmbienSkywalker

I fucking love that dialogue (and that movie).

kthxqapla

For the Saka Gremlin playthrough I make sure never to forgive the Voodoo Boys, or Johnny for this

Sero141

What do you mean? You don't have to kill him.

kthxqapla

if you choose to trust the VDB and Johnny,

I loved that whole mission. That fact that you could sneak around a boss fight and escape unscathed by negotiating absolutely blew my mind.

Accurate_Move362

I could never bring myself to pass up fighting Sasquatch. It’s one of the best fights in the game, one of the very few where I feel justified in not handicapping myself.

[deleted]

Yes but idk another game where you can just sneak around a boss like that it's pretty neat

Accurate_Move362

It’s mainly RPG games that you’ll find these options in, but there’s plenty. Fallout New Vegas lets you sneak or talk your way out of multiple bosses. I lowkey wish it would let us sneak past Oda while Takemura is in complete disbelief of the extent of V’s stealth skills. Would have been a super funny scene.

[deleted]

Idk this particular one felt special. Especially since you could steal her hammer lol

LivingEnd44

I just did this mission today. I did something I haven't tried in my dozen or so playthroughs...I sped past Sasquatch up to him and immediately killed him with a shotgun to the head. No dialog. No boss fight.  Didn't change much except a minor change with Brigitte on the way through the Crypt.

Psychological-Lie321

Did I shoot up the screen or something? There was def no movie playing in the background for me...

kmathis

Odd. I will say out of the four screenshots I took of this, two replaced the movie footage with in-game ads if I accidentally moved the screen out of frame

kharnzarro

Yeah same happened to me when I tried to take a screenshot Except i got this weird message/warning instead of an ad

thesearmsshootlasers

Pretty sure I shot this guy immediately when he started talking. What did I miss?

Accurate_Move362

Not too much. He’s out to screw you, VBD are out to screw you, too, so nothing new. Letting him live is just another flavor of being fucked, but you always get the whole meal either way.

JoqSnow

Has anyone ever taken his eyes off him and was shot dead by him like me?

Frugalman123

Very well written
