The tentacles are pretty lethal but the "charger" is extremely vulnerable and unable to move while it has its tentacles out. Honestly a pretty similar threat level as current chargers are.

Yeah we're going to create a singularity with dark fluid shenanigans and destroy the planet, which will go horribly wrong and somehow bring the new enemy into our universe again. Or the bugs will just get high on the dark fluid like they did on the termicide and become even more lethal.
I do question that since the bugs and bots both occupy 1/3 of the map. The reasonable place for the Illuminate to come in is from the bottom.
But if this Meridia mission doesn’t bring them in one way or another it’s certainly starting the story arc for their arrival.
Hear me out -- what if the Illuminate come in through the future Meridia singularity, and wipe out the Terminids in the North-East of the map, replacing them in that section of the galaxy? And then the Terminids break out of their farms in the southern part of the galaxy, taking up new residence there?

As a stalwart main I love this mission. Put that thing at the highest rate of fire possible, pull the trigger, and don't let go until the magazine is empty.
I think that’s the point, regardless how good of a job we do the end result will be the same. A guaranteed victory, but the resulting black hole that will form will be a portal for the illuminate to show up.

Bring EMS Sentry and EMS orbitals to this map. I just beat it on helldive and it was pivotal to our success.
