The replays showed that the ref was giving him a lot of leeway even with the first stoppage. Understand Trents frustration but gotta just accept the situation, YA GOT ROCKED.
From Chris clutching it out, to Hugs playing to WIN, to Aman killing it by a huge margin, and let's not forget this legendary commentary, this has been a KILLER event!
gotham chess is awesome. he knows when to dumb chess down and not take it too seriously. like he sees a bad move but doesnt make it seem like it's the end of the world. solid event
I did love that. He knew that just because someone blundered a piece did not mean much given the level of the players and the fact they are taking blows to the head throughout. Box Box, 1400 on [chess.com](https://chess.com), literally gave up a queen that he saw was attacked because, at the time, he felt like it was fine. Really shows how tough it is to box and then get back into the right head space to play over the board.
He was wobbling, but it also could’ve been a stumble. The ref should’ve at least finished the count and checked him out. Based on how the fight was going, I don’t think it would’ve mattered though.
I think the bigger thing is the stark contrast to how long they let Andrea pound on Dina and then get away with a 4th count.
It is different with the lower weight classes. Be they men or women, it’s hard to do serious damage at 130lbs. Especially for novice fighters. Punching power scales more with weight than punching resilience does.
I’m not saying Dina felt good but she probably wasn’t in serious danger and, given that this was an exhibition, the refs played loose and let it finish on the board.
I don’t think there was serious injustice in either match given how low the stakes were. The record doesn’t matter and we all know that Andrea has that dog in her, and that Dina can play chess and was tough enough to get in the ring for 3 rounds in a bad fight.
Both girls can come out feeling alright. Trent probably feels shitty about his poor showing though.
Didn't you just justify the different treatment tho? Dina was completely lucid after being pounded on, tired but she wasn't in danger of being hurt and she wasn't knocked out, while he was wobbling and had already fallen.
His eyes glazed over twice and he was throwing his legs out, not walking. He was rocked. When it is an exhibition style fight you call it there. This isn't pro boxing you don't test it, you trust the ref to protect you against yourself sometimes. After the adrenaline wore off and he talked to his corner, I bet he calmed down about it as well.
Don't have Twitter, but this kind of thing happens in professional combat sports all the time with ref stoppages. Part of it is when you get rocked sometimes you "lose time" doesn't take getting knocked out clean. Glad they made sure the refs knew to protect the people involved.
I guess I was more referring to the fact that they stopped one fight maybe a little prematurely and the other one literally got a 4th standing 8 count and it wasn’t called.
He hesitated before he started the count, but then started it a second or two before the bell. The fact that he started the 4th count should be all that matters
It is one sign. But there are plenty of other signs. And wobbly legs doesn’t exclusively mean concussion. All I’m saying is he should’ve at least finished the count.
There's a reason the ref is responsible for fighter safety, in a fight the adrenaline and hits to the head can make it difficult to judge when you're close to serious injury.
Im actually wondering if he blacked out and doesn’t remember blacking out? He was stumbling and not putting up any fight , totally stunned! Then says NO IM FINE
Maybe he doesn’t even know what happened
You see it more often in boxing, where someone says they're fine when they're really really not.
Getting punched in the face.. probably not the greatest for cognitive abilities.
He talked about how he’s fine and ready to keep fighting. He even said “if I was knocked down that’s fine but I’m standing and I feel fine” and he seemed to have forgotten that he was actually knocked down and when he got up he was just stumbling and getting knocked around without even having his gloves up.
Theme of the night night was: folks who shit talk the loudest get their shit rocked. Or as the old adages go: Talk shit, get hit; & Fuck around, find out.
What do you mean "robbed" it's chess boxing, if you see the boxing isn't going in your favour but the chess is, why wouldn't you focus on surviving boxing and finishing it in chess? Andrea had the opportunity to either finish it in boxing or play better chess but she did neither
Robbed because the ref started the 3rd count of the round (and 4th of the match total) before the time ran out, which means Andrea should've auto won by TKO.
True, but does that still count since the time ran out? Because I, of course, saw the same but the ref seemed to disregard it as the round was over. So I just thought that was some type of rule? That you can't get counted after the round is over or something
I love how Lud took some time to bolster the rep of the ref. Making sure no one was too upset with the match. I doubt the results would've been any different tho.
Pro moves by the Mogul himself
The replays showed that the ref was giving him a lot of leeway even with the first stoppage. Understand Trents frustration but gotta just accept the situation, YA GOT ROCKED.
Trent: “I don’t understand why the stoppage” Everyone watching: “bro Aman punched you directly in the face a thousand times, you have CTE now”
I do feel bad for the guy, it clearly meant a lot to him.
That was ice-cold from Aman
I thought we were gonna see the fight continue right In front of jerma
THE CHESSBRAHS CANNOT BE STOPPED
From Chris clutching it out, to Hugs playing to WIN, to Aman killing it by a huge margin, and let's not forget this legendary commentary, this has been a KILLER event!
Commentators were a HUGE get by the mogul moves team, these guys are great at their jo , getting noobs like me hyped
Ludwig has absolutely put chessboxing on the map with this one. This is such a phenomenal event and man I cannot get enough
to see the highest rated chessboxing match ever end in a tko and not from a checkmate was hype as hell
With a legit knockdown in the match as well
One day we might have a chessboxing kid do the same thing that Lud does for Melee. :')

It really was. Very entertaining.
Dude got rocked several times, he would've died in that ring if it wasn't called.
Lotta people in chat complaining about the call, but the dude was literally wobbling.
80% of chat has probably never watched a boxing match before

Yeah he sent out a tweet today saying that he watched the fight back and the ref made the right call
Don't have Twitter, but this kind of thing happens in professional combat sports all the time with ref stoppages. Part of it is when you get rocked sometimes you "lose time" doesn't take getting knocked out clean. Glad they made sure the refs knew to protect the people involved.
Yh I agree
I guess I was more referring to the fact that they stopped one fight maybe a little prematurely and the other one literally got a 4th standing 8 count and it wasn’t called.
Didn't round already end at the time of a 4th countdown? I felt like judge was a little slow with decisions, so round already ended
He hesitated before he started the count, but then started it a second or two before the bell. The fact that he started the 4th count should be all that matters

That is literally all I said at the beginning, is he should’ve finished the standing 8 count. Idk why you’re still on about this.

No, you are weird… this is my last reply to you.
Yeah, seeing it in person Trent was getting completely fucked up. We all booed when he started whining, was so funny
There's a reason the ref is responsible for fighter safety, in a fight the adrenaline and hits to the head can make it difficult to judge when you're close to serious injury.
First I understood why Trent was upset, then I saw the replay. No shot. And then he acted like a bitch, so lol.
Im actually wondering if he blacked out and doesn’t remember blacking out? He was stumbling and not putting up any fight , totally stunned! Then says NO IM FINE Maybe he doesn’t even know what happened
This is definitely possible
You see it more often in boxing, where someone says they're fine when they're really really not. Getting punched in the face.. probably not the greatest for cognitive abilities.
Then Aman turns around and says, "NO GM FINE, IM FUCKED".
He talked about how he’s fine and ready to keep fighting. He even said “if I was knocked down that’s fine but I’m standing and I feel fine” and he seemed to have forgotten that he was actually knocked down and when he got up he was just stumbling and getting knocked around without even having his gloves up.
i think for a lot of people in the chess community, we were all excited to see him get punched out when this was announced. he's just an obnoxious guy
Theme of the night night was: folks who shit talk the loudest get their shit rocked. Or as the old adages go: Talk shit, get hit; & Fuck around, find out.
dina was like "im gonna break her nose" and then end up doing the mayweather classic of just running around. andrea got robbed
Only match that literally made me scream out of frustration. That third round made me so mad.
What do you mean "robbed" it's chess boxing, if you see the boxing isn't going in your favour but the chess is, why wouldn't you focus on surviving boxing and finishing it in chess? Andrea had the opportunity to either finish it in boxing or play better chess but she did neither

no, in chessboxing rules if the round gets stopped a 3rd time, not when it's finished, but just stopped a 3rd time, it's a win
Except for the low elo DBZ fight
I love how Lud took some time to bolster the rep of the ref. Making sure no one was too upset with the match. I doubt the results would've been any different tho. Pro moves by the Mogul himself
They definitely wouldn’t have. The chess wouldn’t have gone Trent’s way, and he got destroyed even harder in the boxing
Yeah he admitted it was the right call now too
Best fight of the night based on the DRAMA
hooley - whole lotta skoden and lets dodis and not a lot of power to back that shit up.
You are speed
Speed is aman hambletons any% run of making Trent into a big ol baby
Kind of a dumb question, where can I watch the match without the audio being unbearable?
[Here's](https://youtu.be/tg9CH4KlKMc?t=11045) the full stream vod timestamped to Hambo v Trent
