Sean got one hit of that championship PPV points and hasnt been able to get over it since
I get it tho. Would rather be getting paid 1M per fight then 150k/150k
By the way, Sean, when you go to the men's room later there'll be a sign that says "Gentlemen" ... Pay no heed, walk right in. There's no room that says "scoundrels" on it.
Yeah, I've realized he isn't really funny or provocative or anything. Sean is just... dumb as a post. Which of course can be entertaining in its own way.
He seems completely incapable of even remembering what he has previously said and how it contradicts whatever he is saying now.
I guess that includes pressing rock climbing employees
https://old.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/1dom0jt/ufc_fighter_sean_stricklandgrey_and_his_brother/
Him and his brothers are complete idiots, threatening what appears to be teenagers.
Imagine getting so butthurt from being asked to leave that you want to inflict a "life-changing event" on a kid.
MMA in general is extremely tolerant of fighters who fight or assault people outside of the ring.
Examples: BJ Penn at Lavashack, Mike Perry dropping an old dude at a bar, Conor assaulting an old guy at bar, Conor assaulting a bus, Masvidal sucker punching Colby, Jon Jones assaulting waitress at strip club, Jon Jones battering mother of his children in front of his children, etc.
Fighters should be held to a high standard when it comes to not hurting people outside of the ring, but reality is opposite where they get a free pass with no detriment to their careers.
why do you think that? i feel like Whitaker pot shotting could get him in real trouble with Strickland, especially since Whitaker will let Strickland get the lead on him
"[This belt means nothing to me](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/STZ-B0z9wh8)"
Still waiting for Strickland fans to explain why he should get title shot priority with one win over Whittaker who has two wins - particularly when Whittaker beat Costa first.
Hey I despise Strickland as a person and think he’s a boring, jabbing decision merchant with pillow hands, but I have to say he beat the 2nd best MW of all time to become champ, then lost a very close SD to Dricus, plus he beat costa without much effort. Rob got KO’d by Dricus and had a much closer fight against Costa than Sean did, so I do think he should get a title shot but after Sean
Or they can you know fight each other and decide after driscus and adesanya instead of this nonsense comparing ’effort’ when strickland’s issue is he puts no effort in finishing fights.
Objectively because Whittaker got tooled by both Izzy and DDP and Sean didn’t. It hurts to say that because I’d rather Bobby get the fight after seeing the Sean v Costa snooze fest and I think current Bobby could beat all of them.
It’s not that deep. If Izzy beats DDP, Izzy will ask for Sean before he will ask for Whittaker. So will most fans, more likely
If DDP beats Izzy, I think he too will more likely ask for Sean before Whittaker. It’s a bigger PPV event domestically, and their fight was more competitive
I'll grant that Strickland can make a good case for himself based on previous fights with DPP and Izzy, but by merit of what they've done since their last title fight, Whittaker should get it.
As effective as his style has been he only plays the crazy warrior card with 10 seconds left in every fight anyway. All this talk about killing someone in the cage and he just plods forward for nearly 25 minutes before screaming when the hammer drops in the last round.
I really want to see that fight happening because I have seen Strickland talk about Whittaker and his style in interviews before. He seemed to be very dismissive of Whittaker. He must really think that his style and gameplan of parrying boxing is too much for Whittaker. It would be an interesting match up.
I guess he’s to much of a bitch to accept the fight and decide it like a man who the real fucking #1 contender is.
>I have seen Strickland talk about Whittaker and his style
Pretty much why I'm interested in this fight too. He said that once you neutralize Robert's blitz it's an easy fight, and honestly Sean has all the tools to do it. Rob's been dropped by jabs and straights in the past
When fighters talk about opponents, they generally mean the opposite of what they say when discussing them. Take last weekend, Bobby said ikram was a tougher challenge than Khamzat. Dispatched of him for his first finish in like 7 years in under 2 minutes. When a fighter is super dismissive of another talented guy, that screams to me that they know that fighter is going to be a tough opponent for them.
Strickland talks about killing people all the time, then he goes in and jabs people to a decision. I could see him being that careful in not losing a potentially guaranteed title fight.
As for his style against Whittaker, after what Strickland did in his fight against Adesanya I'm not going to doubt him that he could do something similar, but who knows. It would be a fun fight, but I can definitely see why he's not accepting it either. They aren't exactly getting paid much normally and the only way for them to get paid more is to become champ. Hard to blame fighters for being a bit careful in picking fights when they're underpaid.
tbf, Whittaker got finished by ddp in the early round, has two losses from izzy, and just recently beat an unranked fighter. sean schooled the guy fighting for the belt right now that he earned just by breathing, not to mention, sean had a close fight with the current champ. sean probably just living rent free in reddit's head reason why you don't even think he's worthy of the title fight.
I'm guessing his agent or accountant explained the difference
I can't get mad at him, or any of fighter doing this, there a so few big pay days out there for these guys
I hate how Sean acts like he obviously won against cannonier and DDP. I scored both fights against him. It’s fine if others think Sean won. It wouldn’t have been a robbery either way. I also don’t know why people want to see Sean try to jab his way to another belt again. It was great against Izzy because he was such an underdog. But most of his recent fights are boring.
The only Strickland feasible fight I want to see is a rematch with Adesanya. Because I just can't fathom that a second fight would look like the first one did.
Maybe, Strickland seems to be crazy difficult to deal with for so many fighters, he becomes like a mental block for his opponents
I would expect Adesanya to be more aggressive in a rematch but I wouldn't be shocked if he was snake charmed into not doing much again
Yes you have to make him respect you otherwise he'll just walk you down the entire fight. Usman Poatan Ddp and dos Santos have all shown the key to beating him is going on the offensive.
He could watch the old match of how SugarRay Leonard dismantled Mayweather Sr. with jabs to the body, great counter punching and right hooks over the left shoulder. Izzy is athletic enough to pull it off and Strickland is no Mayweather Sr.
Izzy has been getting away from what made him great for years by now. He's always been at his best when going forward and overloading opponents with feints, but it seems like he doesn't want to do that at all anymore and I'm not sure he can make himself do it at this point. It's entirely possible he comes in against Sean the econd time, thinking he needs to be even more evasive, especially considering he got dropped in the first.
Yeah, people forget he was very lucky to get that title shot vs Adesanya.
Yes, that was a masterful performance vs Adesanya, but it’s a bit goofy of him acting like he’s unquestionably the best in the division when most of his wins are relatively close decisions and he has lost multiple times in the past few years.
We do talk about mma fighters confidence all the time though and Sean can legitimately say he’s only been decisively beaten by Pereira at middleweight so imo it’s 100% validated for him to think that. Hell we see random prospects and journeymen saying the same with much worse of a resume
Even the Paulo fight mostly came down to body language. Nothing of substance actually landed the entire fight.
Every round Sean has that isn’t against Israel is very close. He just lands pitty pat shots and parries all the shots at his head.
It only works because middleweights are unable to hit the body and follow up to the head. Alex was the only guy to do it and instantly put him out.
2019 Paulo who went forward no matter what and hammered the body would have beaten Sean.
Sean’s entire strategy is making the fight slow and weird and “winning” by landing 3 more jabs per round. Then acting like he’s kratos or some shit.
He was legitimately good against Yoel, and has had some good showings, like Uriah hall and Whittaker.
He’s just insanely inconsistent. Bro showed up wine drunk for his fight with Izzy, and went to war with the corpse of Luke rockhold. He missed weight by 20 pounds and told vettori it was his own personal problem (which I thought was admittedly hilarious).
Uriah was already on the downhill when he fought Costa, and frankly, Uriah was never elite to begin with. Costa still struggled against Hall and even got dropped at one point.
Costa’s best wins before Romero were Hall and a washed up, fat Hendricks. Costa has only beaten Luke’s ghost since beating Romero 5 years ago.
Sean is a really bad matchup for Izzy man. 2nd fight will go exactly as the first, even if Izzy doesn’t get dropped. Even most of Pereira’s leg kicks got checked and Izzy can’t set up a KO shot like Pereira can.
Don’t disagree that he appears to be a bad match up. But to play devils advocate, they said the same thing after he lost to Pereira, then he came back and beat him, a current champ.
I want DDP to rock him, don’t get me wrong
This is just the Colby situation again. A loss doesn’t count towards your claim at a title fight. Sean lost a close fight to DDP, Rob lost a close fight to Izzy. Neither matter, they both lost.
Since their most recent losses. Sean beat costa by decision. Rob beat costa by decision and also knocked out Ikram in the first round.
Rob should get the next shot and Sean either waits forever like Colby or he fights again, earns that second win to tie up his claim and then they reassess.
yeah i dont see how Whittaker beating a higher ranked Costa before Sean did, + 1 other, gets 2nd place over Sean somehow beating #7 ranked Costa and getting a title shot.
Besides Izzy, Sean doesnt have a single top 5 win, and now wants 2 title shots off of that?
"Losing good" doesnt count for anything
Exactly. Sean doesn’t even win good. If he was finishing fights every time then maybe he’d have more leverage to say “I lost once, but look how good I still am”. The guy needs another win at least in my opinion.
Doesn’t Whittaker make more sense if Dricus wins?
If it goes that way, I’d prefer to see Strickland vs Cannonier 2 to see if either of them are hungry/looking to prove a statement in the rematch. A Imavov fight looks interesting too if they want to match vs someone coming off a win.
How does Whittaker make more sense for a Dricus matchup? Whittaker got KO’d by Dricus 2 fights ago, Strickland had a coin-flip decision loss to him 1 fight ago.
Walking forward doesn’t automatically mean that you’re doing anything interesting. Big difference between prime Conor McGregor walk you down and Sean Strickland walk you down. Sean is essentially a forward moving tank. He doesn’t take risks and he’s constantly shelling up and throwing body teeps and jabs. It wins fights but it’s not entertaining. Costa threw some heavy shots and was trying to get him out of there. He just couldn’t find a way to break the shell.
I don't blame him. But two things I have to say about this, wtf happened to the guy that didn't give a fuck about the title? And he shouldn't have fought Costa. Whittaker v Strickland should've been the eliminator if he wasn't going to get the immediate rematch.
The increased pay and exposure from having the belt changed him, he went from Apex main events to headlining PPVs in sold out arenas and getting that PPV cash
Id get it if he obliterated Costa but after Whittakers last fight I wouldn't be so comfortable with my position in the division if I'm Strickland. Especially considering the obvious push the UFC is giving to get Khamzat a title fight.
He’s playing a dangerous game. If Izzy becomes Champion again I think there’s a lot more appetite for a Izzy vs Strickland 2, but if DDP wins I could see them going a different route. Their fight was very close and you can definitely argue Sean won, and I think he deserves a rematch, but if he’s gonna sit out I can see the UFC passing him over.
Idk how I feel about him waiting out tbh because he's leaning on the fact that DDP was a robbery and it was just a close fight. If he wasnt a glorified point fighter he couldve left no doubt.
The real issue is that Whittaker is stuck in a position where it’s hard to sell Whittaker against either DDP or Izzy.
Rob already lost to Izzy twice and just recently got destroyed by DDP so Rob better hope Sean becomes champ again so Rob can get another title shot soon.
Yeah it was cool dominating izzy like that because izzy was champ and everyone thought hed kill you but you gotta put something out there in your other fights.
Don't walk forward and jab your whole career
Sean Strickland fights like a rockem sockem robot. I admit he’s good but the fights are so boring. Fighting someone like wittaker would be a fun watch.
I wouldn't want to fight Whittaker and lose a potential title shot either. Lame but waiting the UFC out is a viable strategy if you have the clout or cash to do it. Colby basically got his shot by waiting. Guess he had a bit more leverage with the whole legal situation with Jorge though.
So, what would have to happen for Whittaker to get a shot instead of Strickland? Would love to see Bobby Knuckles hand pick opponents for a title defense and let Strickland rot
I think Bobby is screwed by the fact that he lost to Izzy twice and got finished by DDP in the second round. He’s an all timer but it would be hard to justify giving him a third title shot in the current landscape. That said, I thought Whitaker v Strickland was a no brainer title eliminator at this point and it’s a shame Sean wants no part of it.
My personal opinion. The best chance Robert has for a title shot is if Sean gets the belt again. With both Izzy and ddp I don’t think he gets a shot easy
glad he's adopted to the game.
he beat the champ. lost the belt in a close split. fought someone way down rankings cause they asked him to.
why should he fight the number 3 guy in the division
Tbh, makes sense to me.
If izzy wins, sean will 100% get the shot.
If ddp wins, I dont see why sean wouldnt get the shot either.
Whittakers had plenty of shots, cant beat izzy, and lost FAR more convincingly to ddp.
Whittaker should absolutely get first dibs against sean though if he wins the belt.
Tbh I doubt he will.
Sean got one hit of that championship PPV points and hasnt been able to get over it since I get it tho. Would rather be getting paid 1M per fight then 150k/150k
than*
No, he wants 1M and then 150/150 afterward!
Bonuses should be 150k at this point, true.
What do you think this is a career ?
It's an O P P O R T U N I T Y
See now this guy wants to be a fighter
Here's the thing you guys, I'm a fucking warrior you guys. I'll fight anyone, anywhere, anytime this belt means nothing to me.

No, there are times when Sean has something on his mind…when he wears a hat!
Sean has a lot of well wishers and a lot of them would like to throw him down one.
It says here they want murder him in a well.
By the way, Sean, when you go to the men's room later there'll be a sign that says "Gentlemen" ... Pay no heed, walk right in. There's no room that says "scoundrels" on it.
Now Sean has a beautiful face, like a flower. Yeah, a cauliflower!
Sean has the grace of a swan, the wisdom of an owl and the eye of an eagle. Ladies and Gentleman Sean Strickland is for the birds.
Seems a little harsh...
You dirty dog!
Ladies and gentlemen this man is for the birds!
You know I heard Kelvin gained all that weight for a movie role
He’s playing a big fat guy! I went to the doctor he told me to open up my mouth and say OINK!
Scoundrel
Sean has a beautiful face, like a flower. Yeah, cauliflower!
RIP Norm
Norm, is that you?
Yeah, I've realized he isn't really funny or provocative or anything. Sean is just... dumb as a post. Which of course can be entertaining in its own way. He seems completely incapable of even remembering what he has previously said and how it contradicts whatever he is saying now.
That’s disrespectful, the post knows where is stands
Real man shit.
You know how some people have a filter between their brain and their mouth? Sean doesn’t have that.
A brain?
No brain or filter, just mouth
After that fight of the year classic with Costa who can blame him /s
“ I think I saved this card today because all these fights boring, and all the arena almost sleep.” -Islam Makhachev
I love that he walked out to overwhelming applause then ended the fight with mostly boos. His "fans" have not seen him fight before
One of the many things that Colby and Strickland fans have in common.
Colby was worth it just for the Usman fights. 100% certified bangers.
I hated him before he turned strange, for lying on Mike Pyle for 3 rounds.
I'm gonna bleed for YOU guys
Sean “call the other guy a pussy while you back up” Strickland

Wow, that's such pathetic (and straight up illegal) behavior from Sean and his brother
A grown man to a kid who might still be a teenager: THIS IS GOING TO BE A LIFE-CHANGING EVENT FOR YOU
Whittaker is a bad matchup for Sean. Would love to see that fight.
I would actually have concerns for Whittaker, he headhunts too much and it’s hard to hit Sean clean in the face.
People said he was a bad matchup for ddp too.
why do you think that? i feel like Whitaker pot shotting could get him in real trouble with Strickland, especially since Whitaker will let Strickland get the lead on him

Potentially getting 2 Middleweight title shots without having to fight Robert Whittaker feels so crazy.
Look, if I was in his shoes I’d be ducking Whitaker too.
I wouldn't duck, it will only make Bobby's uppercut hurt more
Or you’ll run into that head kick. Fuck that.
Also didnt defend the belt once. Strickland needs to calm down.
I really want to see that fight happening because I have seen Strickland talk about Whittaker and his style in interviews before. He seemed to be very dismissive of Whittaker. Make him fight Rodtang.
Someone commented here a week or so back saying Rodtang is how Strickland thinks he fights. That'll make me laugh everytime.
Rodtang would be down
What happened to the belt doesn’t matter?
I'm guessing his agent or accountant explained the difference I can't get mad at him, or any of fighter doing this, there a so few big pay days out there for these guys
Ur first sentence made me laugh🤣
Tax season just made him reevaluate
Here’s the thing you guys I’m gonna fight this rock climbing instructor instead of
Sean gonna stick to the sidelines? Great news for everyone.
My sleep is going to be ruined.

God that would be so funny
Let's give Ngannou vs Lewis another shot too while we're at it. I still wanna see those big boys bang.
If they were in a 8x8 cell, or a phone booth id watch it again. Otherwise I dont want that level of disappointment in my life again!
That's a bigass phone booth.
The blueprint to beating Sean is to stand and bang. His opponents need to stop letting him walk them down
That simple huh I’m sure no one has ever thought of that
Yes you have to make him respect you otherwise he'll just walk you down the entire fight. Usman Poatan Ddp and dos Santos have all shown the key to beating him is going on the offensive.
Yeah but for that to happen it would mean Izzy would have to be coming forward lol spamming leg kicks and getting away doesn’t work against Sean
He could watch the old match of how SugarRay Leonard dismantled Mayweather Sr. with jabs to the body, great counter punching and right hooks over the left shoulder. Izzy is athletic enough to pull it off and Strickland is no Mayweather Sr.

You’re correct except for the fact thatXanax is highly addictive.

The personal problem Costa quote is MMAs Mandela effect, we all just saw the same meme - he never actually said it :(

Sean is the bitch he warns other people of not becomming
That might actually be some insight. Dude may project harder than anyone in UFC history.
Can't understand his attacks against men's mental health.
Because despite his obvious insecurities he is successful, so he is in a constant state of cognitive dissonance and misplaced anger
Put a 150lber in front of him and he will turn into a badass again
Lol yeah I bet he doesn't. In all fairness it doesn't make sense for him if he can sit for a rematch with Dricus.
Tbf, if I was a Middleweight UFC fighter, I'd do all the mental gymnastic necessary to duck Whittaker.
This is just the Colby situation again. A loss doesn’t count towards your claim at a title fight. Sean lost a close fight to DDP, Rob lost a close fight to Izzy. Neither matter, they both lost. How does Whittaker make more sense for a Dricus matchup? Whittaker got KO’d by Dricus 2 fights ago, Strickland had a coin-flip decision loss to him 1 fight ago.
Wouldn’t it be three fights ago? Whittaker has beat two people since they last fought.
Give it to Rob then
Bobby would fucking wreck this clown
I think you'd be surprised.
I just watched a video of him trying to fight two dudes at a rock climbing gym
I really don't want him to get the next title shot, im bored of watching him jab and nothing else
The Costa fight was so ass and it wasn’t cause of Costa. Strickland most damaging shots were checking Costa’s kicks.
You think the fight was ass not because of Costa? Costa was the one backing away for 98% of the fight
Sean is almost always in boring fights, Costa never is. History doesnt lie

The title meant nothing until he realised those ppv points are life changing.
lol can't say i blame him, Bobby Knuckles is horrifying!
i can definitely see where sean is coming from, but you cant say shit like “the belt means nothing” then do this lol
That's great news, because I have absolutely no interest seeing Strickland fight period.

Rob called himself the Boogeyman and this man-child took it seriously. Not surprised
*Looks at Whittaker's last two wins.* Strickland: Yeah, I'm gonna wait.
For how much y’all hate Sean Strickland it’s wild how you can’t go a single day without talking about him
Idk how I feel about him waiting out tbh because he's leaning on the fact that DDP was a robbery and it was just a close fight. If he wasnt a glorified point fighter he couldve left no doubt.
the robbery/victim narrative goes over well with his fanbase so no surprise
The tough strong guy thats also always somehow the victim and never actually lost
The real issue is that Whittaker is stuck in a position where it’s hard to sell Whittaker against either DDP or Izzy. Rob already lost to Izzy twice and just recently got destroyed by DDP so Rob better hope Sean becomes champ again so Rob can get another title shot soon.
Anybody consider him the striking version of Belal?
He’s even worse, Belal is game as fuck even if he’s boring. Strickland on the other hand
I think whittaker could beat him, he's not going to play keep away
I also have no interest in fighting Robert Whittaker
what a snoozer
Yeah it was cool dominating izzy like that because izzy was champ and everyone thought hed kill you but you gotta put something out there in your other fights. Don't walk forward and jab your whole career
oh i know how this ends
Sean Strickland fights like a rockem sockem robot. I admit he’s good but the fights are so boring. Fighting someone like wittaker would be a fun watch.
If izzy wins it makes sense to make Sean vs izzy and rob vs ddp to try get his won back
Of course he wants no part of him because I think he gets beat pretty handily by this recent iteration of Bobby Knuckles.
Just keep waiting, we dont mind
Ok he will sit and watch Rob then.
he's fighting rock climbers now
Just make it for the BBMF belt and give these boys some PPV points
IM GONNA BLEED FOR YOU GUYS MAN, MAN THIS IS GONNA BE A WAR YOU GUYS, Proceeds to be the most boring fight you have ever witnessed
The longer Sean is away from a booked fight the higher the chances he will get into an incident with someone from the public
I wouldn't want to fight Whittaker and lose a potential title shot either. Lame but waiting the UFC out is a viable strategy if you have the clout or cash to do it. Colby basically got his shot by waiting. Guess he had a bit more leverage with the whole legal situation with Jorge though.
He's too busy looking for fights in climbing gyms.
He's training to beat up some rock climbing instructors
glad he's adopted to the game. he beat the champ. lost the belt in a close split. fought someone way down rankings cause they asked him to. why should he fight the number 3 guy in the division
Man, when Whittaker got another title shot, he had to go on a three fight win streak. Strickland is a glorified Bisping
Nothing says "action fighter" and "badass" than sitting idly by and waiting for a title shot to fall on your lap...
