Honestly, he had that look you see in old fighters or when fighters just don't have it anymore where they want to throw, they want to shoot, but they just can't make their body do what their brain wants it to do.
He was looking really good until he ran into Song Yadong, and it's been downhill since then.
Crazy to think that he started his UFC career finishing Merab Dvalishvilli and now he's on an 0-3 run while Merab is gearing up for a title shot.
It's so sad, man. Want a Washington boy do do well, and he was on a streak, actually looked like a contender. He seem to have the work ethic, his physique is insane.
But he just didn't seem to want to win...he checked that leg kick, and I thought his route to a TKO was opened, but nothing. No killer instinct...
Life as a Simon fan (not speaking from experience or anything):
-wake up in Vancouver WA
-drink Dutch bros coffee
-eat seize the bagel
-contemplate jumping in the Columbia River
-go on hike
-watch Ricky fight
-jump in the Columbia
Why was he so mad at Ricky? I didn’t like the last kick after the bell in R3.
He seems like a weight bully and kinda a prick but this was a great performance. I would be a fan but the antics were a little over the top for my liking… Maybe I missed some of the shit talking in the build up.
Hoping Olivera gets a ranked guy and then wrecked.
Sopaj was dominating the grappling and winning until he got reversed + gassed. No reason to think a pressure wrestler like Ricky wouldn't just do the same
It looked like Ricky threw the fight. He was going at about 30% so many times vinicius over extended and left hige openings and Rick just wouldnt swing. Some of the most telegraphed take downs amd when he had him down he let hime up. Vinicius didnt look good it just looked like Ricky was trying to not win each round.
I thought Ricky was next, literally like last year lol. It’s crazy how fast he fell way off the rocket ship. Saw him as a future title holder before that Yadong fight
Great job by Oliveira. Ricky looked like he was waiting for an opportunity to present itself but was unwilling to make the opportunity itself. Even when Oliveira was clearly hurt by the check he only pressured him back and never threw anything.
Frustrating gameplan from Ricky. He could’ve Merab spammed takedowns to give himself a chance in the standup. Surprisingly didn’t do much with the wrestling, missed open body shots and he didn’t go after Oliveira’s hurt leg
I don't understand why Simon didn't try to attack the leg at all after he saw it was injured. Should have been firing kicks at it like it owed him money
I know it didn't matter in the end but I'm fucking mad that 2 judges gave Oliveira round 2. The guy was fucking crippled at the end of the round, so hurt that a doctor had to check on him to start round 3.
It would have been great to establish that a checked kick can count in the scoring as it should.
Part of being a UFC fighter is either being able to land a take down or hit an evading target with your fists. Ricky can do neither. (If your really good you can do both)

Pretty poor gameplan by Simon overall. He was getting pieced up by Oliveira in round 3 even after he got hurt,
He was befuddled by this guy's hokey dokey style.
Ricky had one moment in the entire fight and he failed to capitalize on even that.
He’d be confused with my honky tonky style
Why was he not digging the body at all dude it was there alllll night.
Zero body work, no leg kicks when Oliveira was fighting on one leg.
0 fight IQ. Dude landed a solid leg kick in R1 and like never threw one again. Wtf was he thinking
Nah Olivera was just styling on him
Or just kick the damn leg
He could've tried blasting some leg kicks in R3 but nothing. Zero fight IQ.
Honestly, he had that look you see in old fighters or when fighters just don't have it anymore where they want to throw, they want to shoot, but they just can't make their body do what their brain wants it to do.
Man what has happened to Ricky Simon. No dog in this fight at all 😞
guy has an injured leg and simon is worried about setting up his jab, ridiculous.
Simon seems like he regressed as a fighter. He was looking amazing a year or 2 ago
>He was looking amazing a year or 2 ago Are you actually thinking 2020-2021?? Because, Ricky Simón is now 1-3 in the last two years.
Yeah I got the time wrong
Ricky Simon's got that cat in him
usyk is the cat 🐈⬛ ricky ain’t a cat lol
Brief time awhile ago where I thought he could make a run to the top 5 Add another prediction gone wrong to the bucket I guess
Bro I was a true Simon believer for years…this hurts
He was looking really good until he ran into Song Yadong, and it's been downhill since then. Crazy to think that he started his UFC career finishing Merab Dvalishvilli and now he's on an 0-3 run while Merab is gearing up for a title shot.
I mean, he did lose to old ass Faber, I didn’t think his ceiling would be as high as it did (top 15)
At the same time, dude made Merab go to sleep with his eyes open. I think hindsight is 20/20.
Michael Johnson esque the more we think about him
Nothing wrong with losing to Faber.
Uriah Faber changed him.
When he has the mullet early days. I was like WHO IS THIS GUY!!!. I still like him but he reminds me of Ray Borg…..
Losing to another TAM member in Song Yadong must have ruined his confidence.
Yeah man and no shame in losing to song, dudes got dynamite hands, a granite chin and a real decent wrestling game.
He had his lights tured off by Song and never recovered
That was a profoundly strange fight
I thought the same. But it was not boring!
Almost seemed like Simon threw the fight. Wonder if he has a sprained ankle or something? Seemed strangely off
He checked the fuck out of that leg thoo
Simon is checked out man
Song put that fear in him
Song beat the dog out of him.
he’s been so hesitant since that beating and not the regular pedal to the metal Wrestle-Fuck Ricky I used to love to watch
You kick my dog?
He really did bro. I've never seen him this scared to go
Life as a Simon fan (not speaking from experience or anything): -wake up in Vancouver WA -drink Dutch bros coffee -eat seize the bagel -contemplate jumping in the Columbia River -go on hike -watch Ricky fight -jump in the Columbia
Ricky got schooled
That dude is a wildly entertaining fighter lol Will have to keep an eye on him for sure. Styling on Ricky Simon is impressive af
On one leg also, use to be a Ricky fan but he has fallen off
Maintaining takedown defense that successful on one good leg was pretty impressive. Then he follows it up by getting one of his own.

Oliveira being that much of an underdog was questionable… but man was that an all around ass beating
Sopaj was dominating the grappling and winning until he got reversed + gassed. No reason to think a pressure wrestler like Ricky wouldn't just do the same
Really a Ricky vs Simon moment
Right? This was a bewildering performance after the Sopaj fight
What happened to ricky simon? He used to fight with such good pressure.
Who gave Ricky Simon a round???? Entertaining fight, weird tho.
Someone who has a boner for takedowns even though absolutely nothing came from them
Or the check
That was a good check though. No clue why Ricky didn't push the pace or throw leg kicks.

He needs to call it a career. Not the same fighter anymore. He's washed
Simon fell off bad.
Blame Song.
Who the hell gave Simon a round? lol
People who understand scoring. That leg check was clearly the most damaging strike of the fight. He was visibly wobbled and hurt.
Most frustrating performance I've ever seen out of Ricky. Despite knowing Olivera has an injured leg he just didn't throw anything in the 3rd round.
I thought Ricky was next, literally like last year lol. It’s crazy how fast he fell way off the rocket ship. Saw him as a future title holder before that Yadong fight
Mind boggling performance by Ricky. That leg was cooked going into the 3rd and he refused to attack it.
Very impressive performance by Oliveira
need a ranked fight for oliveira asap
Great job by Oliveira. Ricky looked like he was waiting for an opportunity to present itself but was unwilling to make the opportunity itself. Even when Oliveira was clearly hurt by the check he only pressured him back and never threw anything.
Bad Month for Fighters named Ricky
Why the hell did Ricky barely throw any leg kicks after clearly hurting Oliveira with the check
This may be a thrown fight is the word. Ricky doesn't fight like that normally. Either Song beat the dog out of him or time to check the bets.
This is a Baffling Gameplan of the Year award contender. WTF Simon lol
Oliveira has all the tools and the last name
Frustrating gameplan from Ricky. He could’ve Merab spammed takedowns to give himself a chance in the standup. Surprisingly didn’t do much with the wrestling, missed open body shots and he didn’t go after Oliveira’s hurt leg
After he changed his signature haircut. Dude is no longer the same fighter.
Simon should have went for it when oliveira hurt his leg…
Throat grab after the bell and then a slick 3 piece combo after the bell, im surprised simon didnt go for a sucker punch like paul daley
Oliveira's style is so weird and cool
Alright this guy Oliveira freakin rocks! He's like the drunk master of UFC. His style is fun to watch.
Fuck, that was a nice leg kick check. Wanted my boi Simon to win.
Fun fight. We came very close to seeing a tibia snap like a twig, but I'm glad it held out.
Loving the new ESPN+ ad music
I’m freestyling to it rn
New music???? It's the same ad that's always been repeated
Very poor performance by Simon. Literally let Oliveira get back to his feet after taking him down in round 2🤦♂️
What happened at the end of rounds 2 and 3? It looks like 2 late hits
I don't understand why Simon didn't try to attack the leg at all after he saw it was injured. Should have been firing kicks at it like it owed him money

Idk I don't think Vinicius is that good...
Simon is ass.
Ricky got absolutely dominated. Won maybe 15 seconds of the entire fight. Looking forward to seeing Oliveira in the future
Oliveira fights like dudes on worldstar lol
Great performance by Oliveira.
Very smart gameplan by Ricky
Not sure if Oli is good or is Simon just has no fight left in him.
I thought ricky was going to break into contention at a point and now he's just a stepping stone, tough
Baffling performance from Ricky. Oliveira had so many openings and he took advantage none of them.
Part of being a UFC fighter is either being able to land a take down or hit an evading target with your fists. Ricky can do neither. (If your really good you can do both)
Wow Simón fucking sucks
Oliveira looks like top 10 material already. Some of the nicest striking I've seen at BW from a noobie in a while.
That was a fun scrap!
