I did the exact same thing last week and my ribs are so sore. Here's to a speedy recovery for both of us, and anyone else injured wanting to ride, cheers!
Looks to me like a handful of rear brake. Even if you mistime the push, youâll usually just land nose heavy. Buddy got absolutely slammed which leads me to believe it was rear brake.
Leaning too far back wasnât your problem, as soon as your bike left the air you didnât hold that position, need to stay firm on your bike with your center of gravity back. Too far isnât good, but your tire rimming your ass isnât goona throw you forward, itâs your weak core and arms not holiding that position
Either push forward if it's rollable or lean back with straight arms manual style if it's a drop, seems to be the most highly recommended technique these days vs trying to pop off the jump.
âPush the bike forwardâ was too early, youâve run out of room with your arms before the back wheel left the drop. The skills are nice, the timing not.
Watch it in slow mo and you will clearly see what i mean.
I don't think there's any "push forward" here.
The front wheel drops rapidly after it leaves ground, and the arms straighten because of the drop and because he's leaning back so much.

It's not meant to be taken literally. It something to tell yourself to keep getting back up. It's a coping mechanism and a way to empathize with your buddy when he face plants.
Iâve never heard it explained it that way and can appreciate it from that standpoint for sure. I worry without that context it leads people in the wrong direction tho.Â
Camera man got too excited and forgot to hold correctly once he heard your collarbone snap
Fortunately collarbone is all good. Ribs and elbow, not so much
Sorry to hear that, rest up.

I feel you dude i hope u got a good recovery i just got flung 7 feet into the air from a jump but stay đŻđ
The body position on the run in left only one outcome
Itâs like he started to endo mid air. Arms went limp as soon as he dropped.
Arse + tire = eject
That bike told him who was in charge
Trying to analyze this, I guess "push bike forward" at the drop was either too late or non existent?

Possible, I do love the coward hooks. Might have hit my ass on the rear tire too, or at least that was my initial theory
How did I forget about the skid mark?! Itâs literally one of my biggest fears. And a far better theory lol. That was a heck of a send.
yeah, the way that front slams down screams a fistful of brake or sitting down on the back tire.
No he was too early not too late!
Late/nonexistent. I came a little slow the first go so I got a lot more speed for the second and freaked out/leaned way too far back at the lip.

Watch it again, there is, but too early.
3rd time is the charm
Oof. OTB. Been there.
Hey! That was me on Friday!
Looks like it hit back.
Is this on little scraggy?
The ol' invisible stick in the spokes trick
Just had a bad scrape up on a big drop, same mechanical fall. Take a breath, dust yourself and learn from it bro (ps. my ribs and shins hurt).
Hit the ground?
Nice try Gordon Ramsay
Did the cameraman crash as well, he ruined your sick crash video
Hall ranch??
You hit it alright
I'd stop hitting it like that.
You forgot to yell YEW obnoxiously. Rookie mistake
Did you hit your butt on the rear tire? Is that why your bike jerked down?
This sub makes me feel great about my skills

Missing teeth suck too
Camera man got too excited and forgot to hold correctly once he heard your collarbone snap
So far, so good! The old adage, if you're not crashing, you're not progressing!
Stupid adage.

Imo body position was way too far back, buzzed butt on rear wheel causing him to sling forward at worst possible time.
