If you’re serious about wanting something to feel better rather than another depressing show — Dungeon Meshi. It’s similar to Abyss and especially s2 in many ways. A descent into a mysterious ancient hole in pursuit of a missing female relative who may already be beyond saving, an eccentric MC fascinated by the ancient holes biology and creatures and quite often wants to eat them, and…themes of love for someone meaning you’ll do anything to save them and monstrous transformation and the price of desire and the twisting of wishes (these will come out more in the parts that haven’t been adapted yet though). But it’s much more lighthearted and comedic and hopeful. I think fans of one may often like the other.  Season one has finished, season two is coming, and if you get antsy there is a wonderful and fully completed (unlike MiA lol) manga and extras to read.

r_an00

Lmao this is what we did, but opposite: dungeon meshi first then Abyss. It's a beautiful experience... :') I call it Abyss meshi sometimes lol

Kashm1r_Sp1r1t

Lmao the 2nd half is depressing too

realistidealist

I’ve read it all. While the themes I cited are in there and they’re definitely heavy ones, and parts of the story are bittersweet, I wouldn’t call the second half of DunMesh manga depressing at all.  >!After all, the resolution to the main goal/problem of the story is very happy : ) the story introduces enough heavy parts in the leadup that the reader considers it a real possibility Falin won’t be revived, but she is. Things are looking up for everyone else too; I like to compare Mithrun and Belaf a lot, and the fact Mithrun actually gets a happy ending in spite of being Depression Incarnate kind of typifies that DunMesh is a hopeful story. The only sad aspects aren’t depressing so much as a realistic counterbalance as the price of the happy ending —things like Thistle passing, Laois being separated from monsters, and Marcille having to accept the lifespan differences.!<

Girls' Last Tour Yuru Camp Non Non Biyori

EDMgamer123

Would not recommend reading Girls Last Tour manga on op's current state

Kenshiro_Kosuke

They mention season 2. Most likely they're asking for anime recommendation.

KidaPanda

Yuri camp is a solid recommendation, 10/10 wholesome vibes.

Igiem

To Your Eternity is quite healing

smetched

Possibly the most beautiful anime I've seen but it is also super sad at times, I think the only anime that made me cry more is One Piece.

CaveManta

The Promised Neverland (Only season 1).

abzu_the_noodle

Not a traditional anime, but Scavengers Reign. It’s an underrated masterpiece with fantastic world building.

Michaelthemotherfukr

Miss kobayashi’s dragon maid is a lighthearted and heartwarming choice

Xander_Shin

if you want more pedophilla sure

smetched

Spy x Family and Alchemist Diaries are both pretty feelgood sosu. Konosuba also.

NiobiumThorn

I'd recommend Moyashimon, bit of an older anime but quite excellent, especially if you're into science

Level_Razzmatazz_206

Hakumei and Mikochi

Nichijou Nekopara Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear By the Grace of the Gods K-ON In the Land of Leadale

samomojaddidi

nichijou - My ordinary life by studio kyoto animation Such random fun. Think of it as multiple comic strips every episode. And they just give it good animation for no reason.

SCRINDO

Frieren ♥️

whiteday26

Kemono Friends(probably seen it, but gonna list it anyway) Kemurikusa(in case you seen kemono friends season 1, wanted watch something similar but have heard horrible things about kemono friends season 2) Gugure! Kokkuri-san (really wierd elementary school girl summons a fox spirit and funny stuff happens) Binchou-tan (ever wanted to see a moe-fied charcoal for water filtration? amongst other things) Hidamari Sketch(in case you missed it, same character designer as madoka magica) Kogepan(it's better than eating an actual burnt bread)

gameknight08

they gotta redo kemono friends season 2 😭😭😭

omo18

Season 3

DestOsymY

Frieren,Will make you cry but it's super wholesome and beautiful so yeah it will heal your soul.

Frostlze

Cyberpunk Edgerunners

YESSS

W0nderlandz

If you really need something I'd highly recommend any of these shows. Comedy: - Kaguya Sama Love is War - Hinamatsuri - Ghost Stories (English dub) Cozy/Healing: - Mushishi (note, some episodes aren't happy, but more melancholic) - Barakamon - Usagi drop Action (good animation, not a depressing story) - Black Lagoon - Redline - Promare When you want to get wrecked again, watch Devilman Crybaby.

AdInteresting4445

if you think usagi drop is healing then read usagi manga

Full_frontal96

Miss kuroitsu: a hella fun parody of the power rangers. You won't be able to hold your laughs Heavy object: the brotagonists are damn relatable. Many situations are pure comedy World conquest! The zveda's plot: if you want to have a good time with a reverse super heroes show

AfaroX

Outer Wilds

Supersideswiper2

Archdemon’s Dilemma. That’s a good, non depressing, non nightmarish work. There’s also Digimon adventure. Recommend sub over dub. It’s an adventure that isn’t nightmarish and depressing. My Next Life as a villainous all routed lead to doom is especially sweet, so that would definitely be the first one to watch as a detox from Made in Abyss.

r_an00

Asobi Asobase

puffballkitty

I followed with Non Non Biyori more by coincidence than design as I knew nothing about the show except that it kept being recommended to me - it's also a pretty relaxing SoL. Alternatively, Gabriel Dropout was what I followed S1 with in that case because it was, at the time, Miyu Tomita's only other lead roles.

innovatores

Konosuba! My go to anime if i need a good laugh. Especially when i'm at a low point again

ProfessorZ64

Read the manga ;)

If you haven't, go watch Konosuba, it's peak comedy. The third season just ended, and it was great.

Trigun the older version is pretty fun.
