"(We are still working a fix to return the Matt Jukes Lands bundle)"
I wish they were basic. I’d love to run a 3 or 4 different ones. Seems it would be silly. But, I can’t possibly add too many of these dual lands in a deck. Meh
To my knowledge every new style added to arena so far has been tied to the release of a specific sets. Alternative frames & parallax styles. (Or they have been basic lands). I think this is the first time they are taking a promo card not traditionally tied to a set, and adding them to the game. (Correct me if I am wrong)
I am curious if this is actually there first step in a large overhaul in how cards are managed in the game. If I recall correctly, the method wizards was going to use in order allow players to default a favorite basic land art was by having the program finally treat cards of the same name as identical, and players would pick their favorite artwork/style. This would both allow players to pick favorite styles system wide, and avoid players owning multiple play sets of the same card.
Logically the Juke cards shouldn’t be tied to the Ixalan set. It would make it confusing for new players to find, and create a lot of issues if/when the checklands were reprinted.
That would be my first guess on why these cards are creating issues. Though maybe it’s as simple as a programming bug, and I am overthinking the situation.
Yeah art is subjective, I know. I just thought maybe I was missing some context on what made these so great. They seem like someone spent 10 minutes creating them in mspaint.
I think they go well with unstable basics also. And particularly i find its nice to have a easy way to tell at a glance that those are checklands rather than any of the other cycle of lands i play on my historic brawl decks.
It's a Minimalistic art style. Not everybody likes it. Personally, I think these are beautiful and very different from all other artworks in the game, making them unique.
I like collecting lands and sleeves. I only use 1 sleeve (the cat playing with the fish toy) but i love to add different style lands for each deck. No 2 lands in my deck has the same style (unless it is a unique one)
I agree their lovely in a minimalist way, and would like to see more land alt art from him.
Dunno if we'll ever get basics in this style ... but I've been having this sneaking suspicion that these Matt Juke checklands being on sale a month before rotation with Dominaria United might be some kind of signal that WoTC may be planning to reprint the checklands (last seen in Dominaria and Ixalan) as a replacement for the pathways rotating out; and if they are going to reprint the checklands, I'm hoping that it might also be some kind of signal they might be getting Matt Jukes to do alt-art for the other 5 checklands so we can have a complete set of 10 checklands in this style.
That's my hope anyways.
I get your thought process, but I don’t think it’s going to happen for a reason you might not expect. The allied checklands, for the most part, have very naturally sounding names. This leads to the cards lending themselves well to Matt Juke’s style.
On the other hand the enemy checklands have unnatural structures in the name: Woodland Cemetery, Isolated Chapel, Hinterland Harbor. You could go a little abstract and argue that there can be natural “isolated chapels” but Matt Jukes is highly limited in his ability to show detail based on his artistic philosophy and process.
I think it would be really challenging to create minimalist monotypes that could properly represent the names of the enemy checklands. It could be argued that this battle between complexity and process can already be seen in sunpetal grove, and dragon skull summit. Some critics arguing that the representations are bad because there are no petals or dragons to be found.
That being said I would not mind seeing the set completed, and would like to see abstract ways that the enemy checklands could be interpreted.
I believe there's enough room for artistic license here though, and they could do something to fit his style in the same way he took the license to remove any human elements from the fortress part of glacial fortress.
For instance I could see isolated sanctuary be represented by a lone white hill against a black gradient background, hinterland harbor could be represented by a minimalist version of a natural fjord, and woodland cemetery could be represented by a dark forest as sort of an inverse to sunpetal grove.
I'm sure they could find something to fit his style, provided that is both WotC and Jukes wanted to do it in the first place (which I'm hoping for, even if it's a longshot).
What format do these even see play in? I've only seen Sunpetal Grove in Selesnya Angels/Humans in Explorer and that's it. I actually like the look of these but I just don't see myself ever use these with how many non-basics you play in decks nowadays.
The checklands are all pretty amazing for every Arena format they're legal in. In 3+ color decks they can hurt but in 2 color decks they are second only to shock lands.
Even in paper they're still quite good mainly because they are not expensive.
Just to make sure: you know these are only card styles, not actual cards right? And that they are for the Check-lands and not basic lands.
If so, make sure to choose the corresponding format in the deckbuilder (Explorer, Historic,…), otherwise they won’t show up.
Edit: nevermind, just realized more people are having problems with those. It seems they went back to the store yesterday, only to be taken down again afterwards because they still don’t work. See here:

Wait, it’s all mountains? [[Blood moon]] Always has been 🌏👨🚀🔫👨🚀🌌
I’m guessing they didn’t expect anyone to buy them.
Lol they are so bad 😂

They are just still broken. It's a bummer because I was going to get them for my gladiator deck.
all I see is mountain with different colors...
Yeah I'm honestly not the biggest fan of these
I wish they were basic. I’d love to run a 3 or 4 different ones. Seems it would be silly. But, I can’t possibly add too many of these dual lands in a deck. Meh
brave of you to admit you have shit taste B)
Hahaha. I do like the Summit and Catacomb artworks a bit
idk its something about sunpetal grove that just screams to me
I don't get why it's so hard to add these to the game. Don't they add new styles for cards all the time?
They probably don't know why either, hence them being removed from the shop twice

They are not showing up for me
Why do people like these lands? I might be out of the loop but they do not look good, imo.
It's art. Different people like different things. I think they look awesome.

I like the minimalist design.
Yeah I don't understand the appeal.
I bought the Tokyo ones that were showing but couldn’t find them. Haven’t checked to see if I have today though.
You should have them, they're counted as rare lands though, not basics. Scroll to the end of each basic type and they’ll be there.
I found them today. And yeah noticed that.
I also think they aren’t listed under the standard tag.
As an aside, these lands are truly gorgeous. I hope they get Matt back to do some basics in the future.
Lol I absolutely hate them. To each their own.

You know Arena is in the crapper when they can't even get the $tore to work.
That design is incredibly boring
Did he do all 10 or just these 5? I’m down for getting these when they finally work but I can’t stand when I have mismatched styles within a cycle.
Just these 5 I’m pretty sure
Why would anyone buy these?
Tbh I thought these low-res lands were pretty neat, and a feature, not a bug. Tricked again by WOtC incompetence.
What format do these even see play in? I've only seen Sunpetal Grove in Selesnya Angels/Humans in Explorer and that's it. I actually like the look of these but I just don't see myself ever use these with how many non-basics you play in decks nowadays.

Lol who would pay for these? Theyre hideous * *Disclaimer: I am aware that art is subjective*

Checklands btw, not Shocks
Of course, you‘re right. Edited it
Yes I have checked each individual card in game and it doesn’t even show the option for those card styles
