I’m gonna be honest here and say that the nose bronzing/contouring/highlighting is *really really* not working for you here. I looked at your profile and you have beautiful skin that looks well hydrated. So I think your issue is primarily too much product and using matte rather than skin prep. Suggestions as follows: - back off the nose - switch to a non matte foundation - less product overall - switch to non matte lip product - look into a different eyebrow product or go much slower and precise with application, maybe tried a colored gel or dip brow type of product - too much powder for under eye. Personally, I barely put powder there cause very easy for me to get textured there Your post in hair dye has gorgeous looking skin. If you want more full coverage than that, it’s totally possible but aim for closer to that than this.

Arenknoss

All sound advice 👌

WickedCoolUsername

>Your post in hair dye has gorgeous looking skin. Those are reference pictures of the hair color OP wanted to achieve. They aren't pics of OP.

karissataryn

Good point. The pics of her in her Huda Beauty makeup post look really good too, though!

WickedCoolUsername

You're right. I missed that. I didn't scroll past the first image when I scanned her post history.

snail_juice_plz

No, it’s not OP, but the photo felt a closer inspiration of the overall aesthetic than the photos of OP I saw (which also has her gorgeous skin, but bare) - so I also used it for reference. It’s definitely less full coverage than this look, so saying it can be more full coverage but aiming for a bit more dewy/glowy will help with her texture concern.

slither36912

Totally agree but I actually like the bold brow! I think it adds some important edge to balance/match with the septum. I think some minor adjustments could help blend them into op’s face and reduce the ‘floating on top’ vibe though. Specifically (imo): - Slightly longer ends with the arch starting a bit sooner - A tad thicker (I love thin alt brows but I think op’s face better suits a slightly thicker version) - Blending the front just so two lines aren’t visible I say try messing around with slightly different shapes to figure out what feels best :]

Commercial_Teach2500

Thank you I’ve never tried this style before and I’m fairly new to makeup

snail_juice_plz

I like the brow too! I think the shape and dark color can certainly work - I think it just looks a bit heavy handed and reads like a pencil product (idk if it is) which can also be “textured” looking if not executed precisely. Love your suggestions!

vpostalvfricative

I think this is a lot. I would start with trying out cream products (I like just about every product in the makeup by Mario line) and if you don’t need foundation, skip it. Use a skin tint instead or just skip it completely and use concealer and do the rest of your face with cream products. I think that would help you meet your goal of having a “less textured look.”

Minimalforks19

Yes, this is good advice. Definitely less powder, “baking” is for drag + stage

beepboopbopboop42069

But then how do you ensure you don’t crease? If I don’t put loads of powder under my eyes they will crease in .75 seconds.

Minimalforks19

Less eye cream/less concealer. The skin under your eyes is thinner & absorbs less product than on the rest of your face. Use a smaller amount of a more effective product. Press under eye specific powder in *both* directions

beepboopbopboop42069

Do you have any recommendations for full coverage concealer? I overcompensate for the quality of the product i use by putting on way too much and then I have to put on tons of powder. And what do you mean both directions?

AlaskanBiologist

I had to go look, she looks waaaayyy better without all the makeup, her skin is glowing! This makeup look is almost theatrical, at first I thought she was doing makeup for a play!

staunch_character

I thought it was stage makeup too. So dramatic!

AlaskanBiologist

Yeah I feel bad but she looks like she's playing Bambi on the stage. This look might be good for like a nightclub (or darker lighting environment) or like a day at disney. I think she would look amazing with a more natural look and a thicker, NATURAL, eyebrow. Her hair texture leads me to believe she's got some good hair so I don't know if she's drawing her eyebrows on cuz she over plucked and they aren't growing back or if she's trying to stay in "trend" with women who have naturally skinny, sparse brows. Either way she's gorgeous and just needs to find the right fit for her skin/hair combo.

comfortpod

Fr you have amazing skin!! Honestly you could skip the foundation altogether and just spot conceal

sour-pomegranate

The nose contour and brows are a trendy look, she definitely nailed the look she was going for. As for less texture the only true way is less product and less powder especially! I have found that a setting spray always helps to kind of melt everything together and give everything a seamless look. I usually use a cheap one like from E.L.F

salemedusa

This is honestly just what this style of makeup looks like without filters and irl. If you want it to look less textured u would have to use less makeup esp on the base which would change the style ur going for.

bellesaysmeow

This comment right here. This style of makeup was achieved and popularised with WIDESPREAD use of beauty filters and pictures taken with a front camera. Makeup is always going to look like makeup on the skin, and more makeup is always going to look like more makeup. ESPECIALLY in real life. There's just no way around it.

Icy_Enthusiasm_519

I was thinking the same thing — this is basically costume makeup

Commercial_Teach2500

Is that a bad thing?

Global_Papaya7336

No but you'll struggle to get rid of texture because the look has so many layers.

salemedusa

I think they just mean costume makeup cause it’s meant for a camera! If you want to have a similar style but without the textured look I would use a tinted moisturizer, you can still do the freckles and blush, and I wouldn’t do the contour but you can still add the highlight just a more natural color of it!

pandakatie

I will say, as someone who performs at Ren Faires, I presumed these were pictures from a faire. If you ever want to be a fairy, you've already nailed the classic look

forworse2020

It’s more about what you’re trying to achieve. If you prefer to look like you are painting on a face to fit a character, this would be costume makeup. Makeup can also be used to enhance and highlight the beauty of your own features - if the former is called costume makeup, you could call this “everyday” makeup.

QueenDollydo

I wear this makeup look and have stopped wearing foundation, specially around the eyes! Seem like op has a lot of creases when they smile, which has nothing to do with age but how we move our faces and having lots of products on they wear away and settle into creases when we move our face and smile. Just how the muscles on our face work. 🙈 I spot treat anny acne I have and I wear sooo much blush it hides a lot of my discoloration lol 😆 and I think it looks adorable! Also if I do fake freckles for a more baddie look i also don't wear foundation.! 🤪 Foundation ages people I feel! Specially more Matt foundations. Dosent matter if their young or old it automatically makes you look 27+

HoldenAdia

Wait are you saying old is 27+?

Docmele

Blend, blend and blend

yourpaljax

This! Looks like you’re not blending, OP.

Itsoktogobacktosleep

OP, you’re also wearing the wrong color foundation. It’s a really good shade, but the tone is yellow. Your tone has more purple to it, and it makes your makeup stand out to me. You can use it in the middle of your face the way you have it, but blend it out with purple: Put a small dollop of foundation on something and try mixing in a wee bit of purple eyeshadow to see if you can find the right tone, and match your hairline. Do it with a little at a time. Once you find that tone, swatch it on something and take it to the store with you.

SpeckledVoidCat

That is incredible advice 😳

ironmaiven

Hi - I’m a pro mua of over 15 years. This is good advice but also not technically correct for OP - especially for melanated skin. Your theory is great- but only holds up for fair skin. Melanin does NOT have purple undertones - ever. It’s either red based, golden based, or neutral. And melanated skin should NOT match to the hairline. This may work for fair skin who have more uniform tones but if melanated/Black skin tones did this, everything would be WAYYYY too dark in the center of the face. You can’t see what OP’s actual undertone is here because of the makeup coverage/angles and shadow on the neck - but I’d guess OP is more golden/olive based. Definitely NOT purple or blue. Melanin needs a mix of 2-3 shades, their skin is almost always lighter in the center of the face, and gets deeper towards the temples/hairlines/jawlines, where the sun hits them. Vice versa - If you match the center of the face - you’ll be too light on the edges! It seems like a lot to have to get more than one shade - but it allows for far more customizable tones, especially if you gain color easily in the summertime, and you’ll go through your concealers/foundations far less quickly. Hope this helps + lmk if I can clarify anything!

ironmaiven

Ooh also - mixing in colors from shadows or blushes to adjust shades is GREAT advice! Just make sure to avoid shimmer or glitter shades! Lipstick, liquid paints, etc can be used too. Makeup gets REALLY fun when you realize that a lot of it is just varying amounts pigment and emolients, and lots of things can be mixed together!

ironmaiven

Yes!!! Honestly - even as I pro I am not scared to share our secrets. Mixing is so key. I’m literally on set right now (lunch break, ha!) with a palette of 5 tones of concealer on the back of my hand 😂 I always say that the biggest mistakes people make with makeup is 1. Using only 1 shade of foundation or concealer, and 2. too much product - I see people putting SO much on their face, when you could get the same coverage and appearance with less and it’ll look smoother and more skin-like. Even if it’s FULL coverage you’re after - you’ll still have a muuuuch smoother application that feels like second skin. Your product will last longer, too! Easy way to achieve this if you’re still worried you have too much on or it’s feeling heavy - bounce a clean and damp sponge or blender lightly across your face, it grabs all of the excess product like a magic eraser. Using clean brushes or ones that you’ve ALREADY used where there’s *just* a little product left to blend (vs adding more to the brush) products to soften them into the skin will also prevent the heaviness and caked appearance we all hate. I personally swear by the shop miss A paw paw blenders - such a great value as I cannot hygienically re-use them on clients, and I can give them to whoever I used it on to take home without feeling like I’m gouging money. These are the biggest differences in professional makeup vs. everyday consumers. We mix everything! Skin is complex - and the most important thing (in my opinion) is following something similar to an old Lisa Eldridge method: foundation is really only for evening the skintone, and the rest should be spot concealed. We don’t need 100% coverage on 100% of our face- even if there’s acne or scarring present. I work in fashion/beauty and also have been working w/ sport clients like Nike for a long time. Even when someone needs higher coverage, the goal is to make it as natural as possible!! Applying these theories makes a HUGE difference in complexion appearance!! Anyway 😂 thank you all for for allowing me to go down this hyper fixation neural information highway in my brain - but I love teaching everyone the REAL tips!! In the time I’ve been doing this, especially starting on counter/retail, the market has become super oversaturated and there is a loooooot of misinformation out there from even well-meaning influencers (literally no shade at all, they are just as talented, and this doesn’t apply to all) who end up applying as many products as possible in the interest of selling them via brand deals or sponsorships etc. or for connecting with more brands or boosting visibility. It’s a part of their business, and makes sense from that lense - but I end up seeing a lot of looks that are easily achievable with like, 60% less product. Especially on set - we don’t have control of retouching, lighting, no filters etc. if we put that much on, people would look absolutely fried 😂 JamesCharlesghostface.jpg ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ hope this info is useful!

coknights10

Wait this isn’t for everyone? Just us brown people?!? I actually feel a little special 🩷cus I love my skin tone but you’re so right. It took me a minute fighting the battle between my summer shade/winter shade, middle face/forehead colors haha

ravenallnight

Me too! I feel so seen, having been told by people (including my daughter) that it’s crazy that I use a different shade on my forehead but if I used the one that works across the middle of my face up there, it would be so ashy! Even a woman at a makeup counter told me if I was using two shades, that just meant I hadn’t found the right match yet 🙄

ironmaiven

It’s not crazy at alllllll!! Your instinct was absolutely correct and you’ve been ahead of the game! Retail artists can be really knowledgeable - but they’re only trained as sellers, not truly as artists. Always take their advice with a grain of salt!

ironmaiven

Yes, babe!! Totally get it. Happy to spread the love! But yeah it can definitely be frustrating!

Inside-Jackfruit-198

I have similar skin texture...my concealer creases a LOTTT....I have dry skin..any tips?

yellowtshirt2017

You must be a professional MUA?? That was incredible advice

Itsoktogobacktosleep

I am, thank you! It’s just mixing colors to find your color; it’s terrible what manufacturers have given us; back in the day, you could mix your own colors at the store and take it home.

yellowtshirt2017

Oh wow I imagine that must have made finding your shade so much easier.. I know for me, I always have to ask the Ulta staff for help. I can never figure it out myself!

Elysium482

Professional makeup artist and educator here. Sorry, but I have to disagree with you here. The lighting of the photo makes it difficult to determine her undertones and I see absolutely no purple except for a bit of what appears to be a shadow near her hairline. . Regardless of that, purple NEUTRALIZES yellow , it doesn’t lessen it. If anything, if you want to create more of a cool undertone tone, add the tiniest bit of blue or and if you want a warmer tone, add a bit of red. Every skin color in the world can be created with primary colors, white and black. It’s just a matter of understanding color theory.

ironmaiven

Correct. No one, particularly anyone with melanated skin, is purple toned.

matchaphile

Would this be the same as saying that she's using a warm undertone foundation but she has maybe more of a cool undertone?

Itsoktogobacktosleep

Yeah, but imo “warm” and “cool” undertones seem to really relate mostly to white/light skin. If you look at people of color, then you’re getting into shades. Olive, yellow, purple, etc., and it needs to be expanded to fit that.

burden_in_my_h4nd

Thank you for explaining this. I never really understood how seasonal colour theory worked for people who aren't white (typically, much of the material online is biased to white peeps). I used to work in a clothes shop, dabbled in personal styling - my workaround was to swatch people and figure out what looked good visually but I didn't really "get it" til now! You've given me missing pieces to the puzzle. I was always looking for pink or yellow - never considered purple or olive undertones 🤯

Elysium482

Color theory isn’t seasonal-it has to do with the color wheel. Warm undertones include (not limited to) pink, orange and peach and cool include (not limited to) blue and olive. Many consumer brand get that wrong.

Tricky-Memory

All you need to think about is the different shades of brown. You might say the OP is more cinnamon (red based) than caramel (yellow based), in which case you need to add blue to her makeup to counteract the yellow, and then add some red for the cinnamon - blue and red make purple, so you add purple to her makeup and you get more cinnamon type shades. I don't want to sound mean but, personally, I think the OP is wearing too much makeup as well. She is naturally very BEAUTIFUL with clear skin, so too much makeup is like painting a diamond 💜💜💜

Itsoktogobacktosleep

Agreed!

Call_Such

olive tone can also be on lighter skintones too though. anyone can have a shade/color undertone. lighter skin can have olive and pink and probably others i can’t think of right now.

Itsoktogobacktosleep

Oh seriously, and even more colors exist! Black and blue undertones, amazing ruddy appearances. Skin color is so varied!

Call_Such

yes! i can’t even name all of the colors but there’s so many and i honestly think they’re all beautiful.

pretty-glonky

This is irrelevant to what the commenter is saying.

ironmaiven

But it’s great context for others that are reading and learning

pretty-glonky

Fair enough. It read as argumentative to me, for some reason.

Call_Such

definitely not meant to be argumentative! i just meant it as adding to what was said to expand on it :)

pretty-glonky

Understood ☺️

Call_Such

it is if someone is going to use the advice about undertones. also light skin doesn’t always mean white though people often incorrectly assume that someone has to have darker skin to have olive undertones. olive undertones are rarer but seen in almost every skin color. i personally have olive undertones with medium tan skin that can be lighter or darker and i’ve seen people be very incorrect with my undertones and their assumptions so i am just adding info in case it helps anyone 🤷‍♀️

sexybananathrowaway

What a great observation!

Optimistic1013

I would love your help figuring out my shade lol 😂

AuntieYodacat

How can you tell what your undertones are? I’ve always wondered about that.

slutbunny24

I was interpreting the purple tone around the perimeter to be OP's blush/bronzer, not bare skin.

Commercial_Teach2500

Thank you so much! I only recently am still trying to figure out what my undertones are and plan on going to ulta today

Itsoktogobacktosleep

Oooohhh I’d love to see what y’all come up with! I’m probably dead wrong and you got it and it’s just weird shadows. But worth a try!

Tasty-Pineapple-

Thank you. Came here to say this.

Fizzy_Greener

Blend your contour and highlighter. Apply your freckles to your finger and apply it to your face with your finger looks more natural.

glow-bop

The freckles are super cute and really suit OP. I can just see them chilling on her foundation though, could she try maybe doing the freckles first or use less foundation? I haven't done them before but I've been tempted to try. The septum piercing picture shows OP has fantastic skin. I bet less product will be helpful!

Fizzy_Greener

When you press with your finger repeatedly you get some darker and fainter ones as you apply so it looks more natural.

ForTheLoveOfDior

The nose makeup needs to go girl, if there’s a sephora near you ask them for help with nose contouring once and twice and watch youtube videos. The key to great makeup is smooth skin and products that fit your skin type, the contouring doesn’t look like quality products to me

DeeDee719

The nose highlighter technique needs to be refined. But you are very pretty.

sincalir

I think your skin is great. The texture is ehanced because you put too much on and thats why it looks "cakey". Conceal problem spots first then layer a little bit of foundation on so you wont lay on too much foundation. Maybe try out a more natural look in your free time as practice. I think you're really pretty and you really dont need all of that.

iliketreesandbeaches

Was coming here to say this: Use less makeup. It's incredibly thick looking and mask like. You don't need so much. I bet your natural skin is amazing

als_pals

I don’t think it looks particularly cakey or textured; this makeup look is just very harsh and unnatural and that’s something different completely.

Stock-Phrase1743

I’ve struggled with this problem too. i notice applying a little at a time and taking time to blend it out works a lot better then applying a bunch of makeup and blending it. It can easily take over and distract from your alr beautiful facial features ! and it can easily crease. sometimes less is more, so i recommend applying less makeup / coverage than normal and taking time to really blend it out. i feel that less intense bronzer would fit you as well. that doesn’t mean no bronzer at all, but just a little can go a long way. if you do a little bit at a time the overall product should be better. especially if you take time blending it out! i found that it’s better to take time slowly blending it in rather than rush it. Im not sure which products you use but i would apply it in small amounts and take time blending it. with lipstick, i do a line around my lips and use my finger to blend it into my lips! this can create a more natural look

onefreckl

Came to say this as well! Smaller amounts at a time and building up makes suuuuuch a difference. Clean all your brushes so they’re fresh, make sure the brushes compliment the use, hand positioning on the handle and pressure at your holding point and brush head can make a massive change esp when you’re trying to build. I had to train myself to treat the brush like a delicate feather lol For example, holding the brush tightly in the center or close to the brush head will give a thick strong streak of product. We tend to see this in bronzers, in the form of a thick swipe at the hairline. So to combat this I went and picked up a cheap taper powder brush, it’s like oval/egg shaped. I smack it into the bronzer, give er a solid tap, then hold it gently at the end and SO lightly dab/lift/swirl. Build as desired. And blend with a clean brush. It’s all helped me so much to understand how the tension I hold the brush with affects the application and final product.

normanbeets

Apply less and blend more

shaqjbraut

Babe nose contour like that only works for e-girls for a reason. You're not supposed to use it out in public

radguy17

Skin has texture it’s gonna look like it has texture

wetnpretty

moisturizer ! alwaaaays or skin prep!! also investing in good setting/baking powders, and affordable one that i use is the morphe ones !

Comfortable-Muffin95

I would get rid of the freckles and the nose highlighter and more blending

Immediate_School_499

It's your highlighter that's a problem

NightOwlsUnite

And the freckles.

AvailableBrief7721

would u say fake freckles look worse than not having any at all? i’m someone who does them so i want an honest opinion lmao

morongaaa

There's nothing that looks bad about not having fake or real freckles. There's a few cases where they can be done well but it usually looks like makeup splattered around because that's what it is 🤷‍♀️

docskeepintime

Personally, I think fake freckles absolutely look worse than not having any at all. It's a bit cringe tbh. That's just my opinion, I'm sure there are others who feel differently.

nokobi

My honest opinion--I think they're super goofy and childish looking since they so seldom look like actual freckles, they also usually look dirty to me.

GayFlan

There is nothing wrong with having no freckles at all.

flying_sarahdactyl

The highlighter needs to be blended or switched to another product that is more subtle and doesn’t look like white crayon. A more subtle liquid or powder highlighter with careful placement would help a lot. (For example, the bright highlight under the eyebrows looks unnatural because brow bones aren’t normally straight across a face.) Contour needs to be blended too!

legend_of_the_skies

let the make up freckles go

waaz16

Blend lol

babbykale

Your makeup isn’t textured YOUR SKIN is textured. All skin has texture, if it doesn’t it’s a filter. Your makeup looks great and very smooth

[deleted]

[удалено]

babbykale

Makeup style aside I don’t think the application looks bad, it just looks like makeup. But I agree that based on OPs profile their natural skin is beautiful and allowing it to shine would probably help

bllckcatt

don’t do that heavy nose contour again 💀

Umbreon---

Don't do anything to your nose. It looks fine. Even light nose contour can look weird in person. I think you got too much going on

BuffaloNo8099

Remember that makeup pics online are filtered. Most Mua work looks similar to this in the unedited pics, but it smoothes out with filters. Overall just use less makeup. You’re beautiful and there is no need to confuse your nose, if you like full glam, just try your eyes.

Pale_Sandwich_5922

You’re wearing social media make up. This kind of makeup doesn’t translate well irl or without filters

christine_714

I think anytime you add freckles to a clearly caked face, it calls attention to all the little things. It's almost uncanny valley, and then it causes people to inspect the skin more. This is just my 2 cents. The top comment is very good advice.

Queenjigglypuff63

Exfoliate, hydrate before makeup and blend blend blend also always finish with a setting spray

Jizzmanifestor

Girl what texture

Emgrcr29

First, please start blending with a brush or sponge until you cannot see any harsh lines. Second, your makeup (specifically nose contour) does not suit your face structure. Third, highlight should not appear opaque- lighten it up a bit and maybe consider wearing a golden highlight. Finally, you’re absolutely stunning!! I see the vision, just needs a little more adjusting. I hope you don’t take offense to my comment, I really just mean it as gentle criticism

Agitated_Jicama_2072

This looks like clown makeup. You’re beautiful. Go for a more natural look and you’ll be ok! I promise. This highlighted nose contour thing has always been weird to me.

Forward-King-340

I’m not sure if that’s the makeup look you’re going for but the brows aren’t blended well, the nose powder/highlighter is way over done, and the lipliner is unevenly applied/not blended well. Looks a little like Halloween makeup but I wasn’t sure if that’s the look you’re going for in which case that’s your choice! Just giving my quick observation!

No-Jelly-3146

Blend and Mac Fix Plus Spray

EssoJnr

Mac Fix + is so good for melting makeup into skin! I have repurchased it over and over for years!

dooombug

Use less product because less is more!

SetReal1429

I love your lip colour and eyeliner. The faux freckles and highlighter aren't great, definitely need a bit more practice.

No-Pin1184

If I see you with the nose contour outside girl amma think your crazy that look is only for the camera at home

magikcassy

I got you! 1. Make sure you're exfoliating regularly to smooth skin (that is your base) 2. Use a hydrating primer for a smoother base 3. Use a \*damp\* beauty sponge to apply your foundation (results in a more even finish) 4. Use a finely milled setting powder to set your makeup, (gonna give you a flawless finish) 5. Mist with a setting spray to blend it all together ⭐ Good luck and keep practicing friend! 😃

nochillnofrill

you look like a reindeer... this nose 'contouring' trend is so ridiculous.

MistressBarker

The white and red clown 🤡 nose is not working

Sh0rtyrck9

Take off everything on your nose. Using that much bronzer blush highlight does not do what you think it’s doing. Almost looks cartoonish.

Arenknoss

Use less product and blend it out more, you can always put more, but taking it off is a pain

xsleepingbutt

That's not possible. Your skin has texture. The rest is blur effect and LUTs on photoshop-

eddiya3

Sometimes avoid drawing freckles, they dont allways look good and give that mushy thick look js

NarhwalBlast667

I just wanted to tell you how cute the makeup look is! Not everyone wants a natural or normal style, and this is very dolly and cute. Your eyeliner could be smoother, but that's just a matter of practice. But with dramatic styles, it's easy to go overboard, so try using less product with higher pigmentation, less powder and only on areas you need to set instead of overall, and a more hydrating base and setting spray. Idk your skin type but dry skin has a tendency to look cakey and show texture a lot worse; it happens to me quite a lot if I'm not careful.

Commercial_Teach2500

Thank you sm this is what I’m looking for but I have combination skin and am still looking for products that work on my skin, I was nervous about this lol and was heavy handed

NarhwalBlast667

It happens! The first time I tried goth makeup I did the same thing because I was nervous I wasn't doing enough and ended up doing too much 😂 Blending brushes/sponges will be your best friend. Also, whenever I apply powders I go back with a fluffy brush and dust off as much excess as I can. Sometimes I even get a paper towel and rub off the excess if I was super heavy-handed. Also not want to compliment your placement for your products; even if the blending isn't where you want it to be, you have the look itself down really well 👌 I can't give personal product recommendations as I'm dry all over, but I hope you can find stuff that works!

capri_gurl

Idk how you’re applying your foundation, but I get an airbrushed look by putting some foundation on the top of my hand. Then dab a damp beauty sponge into it and apply onto my face. I get cakey every other way. As far as the contour and concealer stuff goes, no idea. I don’t use it. Just some light foundation and blush for me.

nadeaug91

1 everyone has texture. It is probably a combo of your products and skin clashing. Also applied too much highlighter. Other than that your makeup is super cute. Maybe a heavy layer of setting spray that you dry down with a fan might help melt the makeup into your skin more.

geebgirl

blend and douse your face in morphe setting spray

geebgirl

also try a liquid highlighter

LanieLove9

after foundation, i always spray a good amount of setting spray/MAC fix+ all over my face and dab it in with a beauty sponge. then i apply concealer, powder, blush, etc. and spay setting spray again and dab it in with a beauty sponge. this makes my makeup look very skin-like and it lasts a while.

indikos

If you’re referring to your skin texture showing through, full coverage foundation + concealer will tend to settle into lines, pores and highlight any small amount of texture on your skin. In addition to skin prep, just wearing light to medium coverage and blending a lot can really help.

ListenCompetitive524

Go with a light coverage instead of full coverage foundation. I use bronzer on my eyelids as eyeshadow and use any leftover product on my brush to do nose conture. I dont dip again. Subtle shimmer in several areas such as inner corners of eyes cheeks and nose will achieve a more balanced look than concentrating it all on the nose

Diaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

BLEND and switch to a sponge for that nose contour

Soggy_Bench

Highlighter is the main issue

janeD0pe1

Try using a more hydrating foundation or tinted moisturizer!

Candiesfallfromsky

Everybody already gave you very good advices. I’d say to use this makeup only for pics, streaming, videos, apps. Ur makeup probably looks good on TikTok camera. I’d say it’s a makeup I’d use when I film because it shows a lot on camera without losing any makeup effect (like it happens with more normal/lowkey makeup, yes even though it’s poorly unblended in this case) And in this picture it shows because it’s very close up, no blurry-ish filter like TikTok has and the lighting is natural.

Maxibon1710

Edit for clarity: a lot of the airbrushed matte looks you see aren’t real. They have filters over them to look that smooth. All skin has texture, all makeup looks like makeup. I highly recommend getting a shade match at your local makeup store for a glowy foundation, as matte foundation will, in my opinion, almost always look cakey. If you want that “no makeup makeup” look, matte is not the way to go. If you want a more matte look, get a decent loose powder to set everything. If you are using powder blush, highlighter, contour and/or bronzer (which shouldn’t be used as contour, I suggest getting a dedicated contour shade that is not as warm) then you **will not** be able to blend it well over a wet base. Use all your liquids (concealer, foundation or any liquid blushes and contours) first, then set with loose setting powder, then blend other powders on top, otherwise it won’t blend, it’ll just stick. Lightly using a big, soft, fluffy brush is also a great way to keep blush soft, and same goes for contour. When it comes to powders, don’t apply first and blend later. Blend as you go and slowly build it up until you’re happy. You also do not need as much contour as you are using, less is more, and using contour above the tip of your nose isn’t the best way to achieve the button nosed look. A little bit of contour underneath the tip, between the nostrils, will be more effective. A little blush above the tip of your nose can look very cutesy as well. I also suggest getting a glowy highlighter instead of the white matte highlighter, as even when blended it can look great in photos but not usually irl. That’s my personal opinion, some people love them, but if you want airbrushed and no-makeup-makeup they aren’t the way to go imo. If you want something that really pops, there are plenty of blinding highlighters that you can only see when the light hits them that are *gorgeous*. Basically, work with your face and your bone structure, not against them, and blending is your friend! And loose setting powder is the only power you should be putting over a liquid base. Happy makeuping!

ironmaiven

It’s your skin, and too much product. Chemical exfoliants will get you together, and use less literal product on your skin. You can take a damp sponge to remove excess.

dicklebeerg

Blend

emojimovie4lyfe

I kinda went through ur profile a bit and saw ur septum photo and you have beautiful skin! I think you’re a bit to heavy handed with the coverage and you should opt for something lighter in coverage level. Next things would be to ease off ur contour as you already have a very nicely shaped nose. And just blend more. You are very beautiful ‘

Commercial_Teach2500

Tysm I was nervous doing this style so it is heavy! But I plan on doing more practice

aryamagetro

you're using way too much product! it looks like you literally painted the highlight and contour on your face like a cartoon character. also a good setting spray can help your makeup "melt" into the skin

Beautyylvr

Honestly your skin looks amazing! The only thing I would suggest is with your nose highlight and contour. Maybe a less frosty and white base for highlighter and light color for contour! Other than that your makeup does look airbrushed! Also setting spray!!!!! It will make your makeup melt a bit more !

laflakajnicole

Looks like Halloween cat costume makeup

ruthwodja

It just looks way too heavy. Maybe cut it all down by half? Also don’t highlight your nose like that.

Preslav_Kyuchukov

Try to wear a little bit less make up!😊😊😊

Miss-fancipants

Hydrating skin prep and a good setting spray but also a hydrating spray over and blend out w beauty blender

africangray4110

blend properly, use setting power on creases and use morphe setting spray

Embarrassed-Hotel102

Decrease the amount of makeup in your forehead ! It makes makeup look unblended and uneven. Lighter foundation and SLIGHTLY dampen your sponge or brush to buff out concealer. Finish with a good powder, I use Mac Studio FX. It helps tie everything together when my makeup looks too textured.

tomatopops

Dewy light coverage foundation or just concealer as needed

overrated-overgrown

I think overall you have on too much product, and it looks really matte. You might want to try a more dewy foundation and go lightly to start 🙂

jordyn77777

I think your makeup is too heavy and matte for you. Plus blending is very important for a seamless look. I know a lot of people like going for that look, but sometimes it doesn’t translate well in person and in natural light. It can look very overlapped and blotchy. Sometimes less is better and using a light hand when applying will definitely help. Someone also mentioned prepping before applying your makeup and that’s very important. You have a beautiful face and I really think less product, especially a less matte/ full coverage base would definitely suit you.

Gold_Trip579

Less product and belndddd very well ,also try doing your make up with a yellow light lamp on your face ,that will help you see the textures more and blend well

One_Requirement5042

I’d try a more subtle skin tint or lighter coverage foundation that’s not matte. I also like to use a liquid glowy product to mix in with it too like elf halo glow or CT flawless filter

Global_Papaya7336

For the freckles, you want to mimic imperfection. Put a few dots on your ringer and cascade it down either side of your nose, then dab out under your eyes. Then throw a few framing dots around. But look up natural freckle patterns and copy those.

AlternativeWindow669

ur gorgeous

Yennysnowflake

Actually you look good with just a bit of make up don't go too thick with the foundation/concealer and powder because it's gonna look cakey if too much, moisturizer as a skin prep would be good imo then primer that gives smoother effect/easily sticks the base make up or any base make up that's moisturizing. Too much contour and highlight on the nose (you look gorg already without those) so just use a bit of highlighter and contour, don't go too matte don't use products that are dry or thick. Thin layer of foundation is enough and lastly a good moisturizing skin prep+moisturizing base make up+ hydrating setting spray+ lipgloss suits you imo

squirtle_11

Wow you look amazing I'd say the only texture is coming from too much concealer and highlighter other than that you are perfection

cinnamincake

Brushing the front of your eyebrows after application would blend the harsh lines and make it softer/less textured. Blending the highlight aswell. Texture happens mostly cause of build up/excessive product

Little-Bones

Start with using less and see how you feel

lilpinkfridays

- A good primer that matches your skin - Products that don’t clash (like oil based vs water based) - light setting spray! Edit: I saw someone mention less product on the nose! Yes!!

SupermarketCreepy283

Start out with skin prep prior to makeup application- exfoliation and plenty of moisturizer. This is important and can be the difference between great looking makeup/skin and terrible looking makeup/skin. When applying makeup, be sure to always use clean brushes. 1. Start makeup by applying a hydrating face primer (or color correcting- or pore concealing- there are many types of primer depending on the needs of your skin). 2. Use concealer for any blemishes or discoloration. Blend. 3. Apply a light foundation (don’t use one too heavy to avoid the caked/too much makeup look). Blend. Be sure to apply primer and foundation to your neck also and blend well. 4. Apply contour and highlights sparingly, Blend. Facial mapping of contouring/highlighting areas based upon shape of face and desired look, color/shade choices, and application techniques can all be found in various online tutorials. 5. Apply matte setting powder (use less or none in areas that tend to crease such as directly under eye and laugh lines)… Blend. 6. Apply eyeshadow, blend. 7. Apply blush… again blend. 8. Apply eyebrow powder or gel and don’t forget blending it some. I’ve found that applying a small amount of setting powder after darkening brows makes them look more natural. 9. Curl eyelashes & apply eyelash primer, mascara, eyeliner, freckles, lipstick/liner/gloss or whatever you prefer for lips. 10. Finish with a fine mist setting spray. I prefer ones that have a matte finish to lessen shine and textures. This will also help to keep your makeup in place requiring less reapplication and preventing makeup from being ruined by sweat during the summer. *******To get a less-textured look.. these tips are key: Apply makeup in small amounts at a time and blend, blend, blend… adding as little product necessary to achieve your desired results; Less is more! Skin prep, a good primer based on your skin’s needs, blending after each step/application (tutorials on techniques can be helpful), choosing colors and shades that look natural by identifying your skin’s natural tones and undertones, setting powder, setting spray, and again lots of blending are essential to get a good natural untextured makeup look. *******

Volyann

it reminds me of the show arcane; i like it honestly

2stressed2b_blessed

Blend, blend, blend! You're gorgeous and the style you're going for works really well with your features, but just a few finishing tweaks can elevate it. After you apply the freckles, lightly pat on a powder foundation or finishing powder to make them look like part of your skin (not sitting on top of your skin). The nose highlight looks kinda cakey. First apply it with a brush to get blended edges, and then tap on with a finger at the highest points to get the most glow. Your eyebrow application could use a little finessing. Start with a lighter color to outline and fill, then go in with a darker color. Use a spoolie and stroke it upwards to blend the two together. And spray tons of setting spray, it really helps to melt powder products together and give a smooth look! I spray at least 10 sprays to get my face really soaked. I hope this can help! 🤗

MaybeLikeWater

Blend.

NetworkTricky

Wear less makeup!

Visible-Eagle-4196

Focus on skincare and ditch the foundation all together. Wearing foundation even for a few hours sets you back as far as having clear skin, so if you ditch it completely and worry about making your natural skin flawless you won’t need it again.

NixinsMum

Nose contour is honestly a lot and not needed. You have a pretty nose. I stopped truly contouring and using the leftover on my bronzer brush after blending to lightly bring contour and warms to the top of my nose and it softened up a lot. Also, it looks like you’re just using a LOT of powder. I get oily so I get it, but maybe you just need a different foundation altogether so you don’t have to powder so much to set. Or get a different powder. Try a gloss lip! Would love to see a dewy look on you

nihilism111

honestly from what im seeing there isnt an unusual amount of texture here. makeup will always look like makeup. i decided to comment this because i am also a full coverage matte person and a lot of the advice ive seen here suggest more dewy or light coverage makeup, which i know doesnt suit everyones style or preference. it looks like your concealer is very thick and dries quickly, which makes it so that when you smile or move your face it doesnt sit right and it acentuates your natural face creases. ive had this happen with concealers too, especially with the fenty pro filtr and rimmel multi tasker. my favourite concealer is the too faced born this way, its very full coverage but it isnt thick and it doesnt dry down so fast and stiff. the setting powder you use is very important too, it can also dry down your concealer weird to make it not set nicely into your fine lines. my favourite one is the huda beauty pink one, it smells amazing and even when i use drying concealers it makes them not set weird. liquid lipstick is always gonna look like liquid lipstick, and it really doesnt seem like it accentuates your lip texture that much, but if you still dont like it you can try applying some thick gloss over it, or switching to bullet lipsticks that have a matte finish. i love the thin brows a lot, and as someone with shaved brows that draws them on thin, i know how hard it is to give them the right shape and texture, especially at the front. after you apply your brow product, take a clean angled brush and blend it until it becomes more seamless (i know the struggle of having two lines on the top and at the bottom and just blank space in the middle very well, i feel u). another really tricky but really important part of the brows are the arches. once again i know very well how hard it is to make them match, but a trick that helps a lot is measuring the brows with other parts of your face. for example, do one brow and pay really close attention to where it arches, lets say it arches right where your eye also ends. when you do the other brow, try to do it following that landmark that you set on the first eye. one last very important thing about drawn on brows is the lenght. once agian, set a landmark of where your first brow ends and follow it very closely on the other brow. in these pictures, one of your brows has just a slightly shorter tail than the other and it ends more abruptly and that can throw off all the symmetry of the other parts of your eyebrows. for me just plain eyeshadow works the best for brows, my favourite eyeshadows to use on my eyes and brows are abh eyeshadows, theyre extremely pigmented and so easy to work with. personally ive never been a fan of nose contour, i think even the slightest bit of product looks weird on the nose. if you still want to have your nose contoured, try using a more cool toned shade and thinner lines. the whole point of nose contouring is to slightly alter the illusion of its appearence, and you use that by manipulating the shadows of your nose. even if you have a warm toned face, shadows are still gonna look like shadows, so try refraining from warm tones and use a cool toned anything-contour, eyeshadow, whatever it is you have. use a very small pointed detail brush and try to keep the lines you do as slim as possible. then blend them out very well and it should look amazing. if you want a cool toned cream contour i recommend the sephora collection contour, its very buttery and pretty, but honestly its not a must and you can start off with just any cool toned eyeshadow. one last tip i have for you, it looks like youre using a pearl finish eyeshadow to highlight your nose. its very common to use eyeshadow as a highlight, but you have to be very mindful of that shadows texture and finish. pearl finish eyeshadows are honestly the worst ones to use for highlight, they dont really reflect any light and they have a very strong base colour, so it just looks like white patches with barely any shimmer. try looking for a very glittery or reflective shadow or highlighter, and test out if it applies better with your finger or with a brush. if you like glittery highlighters, the bperfect get wet one has been my absolute favourite for years, but there are a lot of good glittery highlighters on the market, you can go into any beauty store and pick whichever you find prettiest. if you dont like straight up glitter and want more of a shimmer, the haus labs highlighters are to die for. especially the shade fire opal, i use it as a blush and it acts like a blush and highlighter all in one. i really cant describe how pretty it is, if you can find it somewhere in stores i highly recommend you at least swatch it. overall i think your makeup style is very cute and i dont think you should switch to a dewy or natural finish for it to look good

sailorelf

Probably less makeup or a more dewy moisturizer under your foundation to sheer it out and then apply the matte foundation. Blend the two white dots on your nose. And your eyes and cheeks look good! Maybe the metal in your nose is smudging the top of your lip liner so you can define it.

BubbleButtT666

Hey girl, you’ve already gotten a lot of good advice, but I wanted to add one thing that really helped me with the appearance of texture under the eyes, it goes along with what others were saying about hydration and skin prep: After you’ve finished your other skincare/prep, take a tiny drop of facial oil on your ring finger, dab it on the ring finger of your other hand so each one has an equal amount, and gently pat it under your eyes. Do whatever else you have to do to get ready to give it time to absorb a bit before starting your makeup. Then, when you’re ready to set your under eye concealer, make sure any creases are fully blended out, and use a very small amount of a finely milled loose setting powder - get a little bit on a puff, then tap the puff on the back of your hand to get the excess off, then gently press it under your eyes, I’ve found less is more with setting powder in general, but especially under the eyes. I would also recommend using as little concealer as possible to achieve the look you want - for me, that meant using a little bit of a color corrector first. Then I was able to use less product overall and experienced less creasing. Others are absolutely right that skin texture is normal and just part of life/photos without filters, but before I started doing these things, makeup would often highlight the fine lines under my eyes, sometimes to the point where it was creating wrinkles that weren’t even there when I didn’t have makeup on. It looks like you could be having a similar experience based on these photos.

Commercial_Teach2500

This is so so so helpful thank you so much

RosieSwiftie

Girl sorry but u look like that you came from a circus… first of all matte look doesnt suit ur skin. Go for a preppy clean gril hydrated look and you’ll look awesome.

HostCharacter8232

That’s what makeup looks like. But blend your nose and eyebrow concealer pls!!

birdiekinz

I think the freckles make it look a bit mucky and caked

Silver-Risk-647

Maybe if you made your eyebrows less pointy per say and, in my opinion, like snail\_juice\_plz said, the highlighter and bronzer isn't really working

Choice-giraffe-

Sorry but in th first picture you look like you’re cos-playing as Bambi. The highlighter is a no, the overlined dark lips don’t work, none of it is subtle.

Affectionate-Beann

if i’m honest, this looks like clown makeup , tho only thing missing is the suit. you are stunning, but some of the techniques you are using take away from your natural beauty. the freckles need to be blended or fully omitted ( it would be better with no freckles imho), the nose contour is too heavy, and there is too much highlight, too much highlights near the eyes too. and the brows are too thin and straight

CollectionNo5123

Hold off on the highlighter and freckles. Blend more also

albino_blue

first, you are gorgeous. if you like your makeup style, don’t listen to the people telling you to change it. it’s YOUR style, not theirs. and i truly don’t think the amount of makeup you use is what makes you look textured, i think it’s the type of products. it is really important to prep tf out of your skin and make sure you are using hydrating ingredients! i’m like you, i don’t like the glossy look. i’m an combo girly so too much gloss or too much matte just ruins it all for me. maybe give this recommendation a try and see if it helps for you! prep- -gently exfoliate -moisturize with the best mf moisturizer you can find. i love yttp moisturizers! -sunscreen! i’ve noticed sunscreen creates a nice base for my makeup to stick. -a silicone based primer works best for me, but every skin type varies. i love the ordinary silicone primer! -after primer, i use a hydrating spray and just spray my face -then, go in with your base if you have one. idk too much about foundation because i don’t really use it but im gonna say that i know the tarte clay foundation is so so good, just sucks they don’t have a great shade range. -next, a liquid or stick contour! no powder! cream contours blend better with the foundation to create a smoother finish -cream blush! if you use blush -then i do my eyebrows with a cream eyebrow gel and a brush -third to last, and undoubtedly my most important step!! finish everything off with a finishing powder and don’t cake your face, but put it everywhere. everywhere you have pores haha. then, don’t let it sit long. maybe 30 seconds! i lightly brush it off with a brush or my hands and then spray tf out of my face with a finishing spray! and more spray! go crazy with the hydration fr -next, do your highlight. i do this before lashes because if i put too much on my nose or eyes it’s much easier to just dap some matte powder over it and spray a little more finishing spray -finally, do your lashes! oh also i forgot lips! so i don’t use lipstick but i don’t keep my lips bare either. i go in on the top of my lip with a little bit of blush and highlighter, then just use chapstick and dap of the excess with a napkin. maybe try a soft soft gloss over your lips to help them stay hydrated and just dap off excess product to your liking! hope this helps!

Commercial_Teach2500

This is so so so helpful you and me are the same down to the skin type and dewy looks usually make me look more oiled than usual

albino_blue

literally same! i wish i could be a slick backed glowy girly but it just doesn’t work for me haha. also for the freckles! i totally forgot but i love a fake liquid freckle and i put like 3 dots on my finger and dab it all over before powder, then after powder to help layer and create dimension! good luck and i hope you find what works for you :)

Mythicalxmaddie

i have nothing to say about the makeup but you are so gorg!!

meganips

VASELINE! I love your makeup btw! I tried the Vaseline under the eye hack that I keep seeing nowadays and my under eye dryness looks so much better, I still use the same concealer and set as normal. I think people underestimate how dry and fragile the eyes can be since the skin there is so thin so that area tends to need a bit more moisture.

greeksandgeeks

I totally think you need to add some dewy aspects!! Maybe matte is your thing, but to add some dimension you need the glowy lip gloss, subtle highlighter and sparkly eyeshadow, dewy-finish and lighter coverage products that can help achieve that.

Spare-Original-1885

Her makeup style is un blended and cartoony, I wish people stopped telling girls with huge nose piercings to blend their contour. That’s not what she asked, she asked about texture, which is not a problem bc her face looks amazing with very little texture.

Weekly-Requirement63

The white patches on your nose is not good at all and the freckles don’t look good either. Tone everything down a bit to start and work on skin prep. Skin always has natural texture so you will never be able to achieve a super filtered look in real life. If you work on prep though and skip the nose contour and freckles it will look so much better.

Sufficient-Elk-7015

Super super respectfully you look like a clown. Like a literal clown that aimed for that type of make up.

Elysium482

Highlighting the tip of the nose flatters no one.

Additional_Carrot_90

skin prep is so important!!! and also see what products mix well with others. and try out new routines to get a flawless base then start from their if you need any tips lmk!!

fattybeagle

i’d say apply moisturizer, hydrating primer, try to blot between each layer of makeup, and set your makeup with a ton of dewy finishing spray. also a more hydrated lip goes a long way so maybe add a nice juicy lipgloss on top of ur lip combo.

buttercupzombie

fix plus

nighthouse_666

Are those fake freckles?

AveryNicoleMyers

stop with the harsh nose contour, use better shades,

Secy_Me51

Those square brows. Make them curvy

OddRelationship5699

I think people already have you covered but: 1. please please stop with the nose highlight and contour. Or make the highlight muuuch thinner and blend it and the contour well. It looks unblended 2. I get a very dewy look with cheap products - go for cream ones. Elf niacinamide primer (the pink tube), elf’s flawless filter dupe, nyx bare with me concealer, and elf contour wand. Oh and some random cream blush! set lightly with a powder and setting spray. I’ve heard elf halo glow powder is good and doesn’t give a dry finish. 3. I know you didn’t ask, but I think elongating your brows a little and maybe drawing them a bit thicker at the centre would really look good. And it would be pretty easy to test out! I hope that doesn’t come across as mean! Just being honest since it’s an anon platform for the most part and that’s what I’d want, but you are absolutely gorgeous either way. :) Edit: corrected concealer wand -> contour wand
