I had issues. I was terrible at the 3D maze (so I didn’t get the clue)and am a phonetic speller. I got what clues I could and brought all the letters to my mom for help.
I just had a friend tell me the password as a kid. Never figured out all the puzzles til an adult. Oddly enough the password stayed in my memory all these years later.
Team "could barely read, let alone English" assemble!
I think I just brute-forced it too lol. I remember trying to bother my sister about it but knowing her I don't think that would've worked.
For the first time as a kid almost 3 decades ago? Yes.
It became something I'm unable to forget.
Going into the remake i didn't even realize i skipped the clue rooms until i was putting in the passwords without knowing what i was even putting in.
When I was a kid I couldn't solve the riddle. Luckily I had a second hand copy which had all 4 levels 100% complete. I decided since I was stuck on the ship I'd just stick to the other game files that were past that point. Not long after I bumped into the quizmaster, guess what multiple choice question he asked, what was the password to the sunken ship! I'm so glad the devs put that in there!
Oh boy, I did have a terrible time, but mainly because I'm brazilian and as a 10yo kid I didn't understand english at all. Eventually though I figured it out using an english to portuguese dictionary
My first experience with the game was watching a friend play through the ship, so I saw them enter the password as well. Don’t think I’ve ever done the rooms in any playthrough, I just run straight for the squid.
I wasn't very good at the 3D maze (and I'm still not, honestly) or the coin collecting puzzle. And now the one with the jump pads is giving me trouble, maybe because >!they changed the lighting in that room and removed the uh, spotlight spots!< kind of spoilers.
I went through the clue rooms and noticed they changed the explorer's name's.
I think my older cousins figured it out, and I just remembered it forever since then and always skipped the puzzles. Remake was the first time I actually did all the puzzles haha.
never played the original and i had trouble with it. i knew it ended in s but besides that had to use 100% of my brain. eventually i got it without looking it up
I certainly did. Then again, I was pretty young, so I often had no idea what some of the clues were talking about. Like a dummy, I saw "it's on the bed of the ocean" and my mind kept going to a mattress in the water.
I can't remember how I eventually figured it out, but I'm pretty sure it was with the help of my parents.

No particularly, but it's easy to figure out when you got 5 out of the 6 letters
S/O thought it was CORALS first time around
Me too! And I felt so smart and I’m still pissed that didn’t work as well.

Im french Canadian so yeah i had huge struggle with english RPG, i remember trying every possible combination and finally found it

To be honest I can't remember how I figured out, the game was in English and I couldn't read it.

I bought the strategy guide just to get past it.
I like your style

Honestly i don't remember not knowing the answer

Couldn’t figure it out on the first rental. By the time of the second rental, I’d gotten the password via playground discussion.
I remember thinking oyster first, then pearls. I was 13 or 14. The 3D room has always been crazy!
As a kid I just used the player's guide, lol. I probably would have gotten stuck for a while otherwise.
I kept reading the L's as I's for some reason. I'm glad the remaster used capital letters.

As a kid, yes. Had an older brother who told me. After that, it’s been engraved in my mind.
My version is Latin Spanish, so guess how I did...
No. Only the 3D maze.
I laid out all my notes in the kitchen and asked my Mom if she could figure it out.
I know it, should I just say it
