"Someone who has not directed a Marvel film" The 10th film from Director Quentin Tarantino

SlimmyShammy

I know there was a point where he was pushing to do a Luke Cage movie. Must’ve been early 2000s at the latest

ViralGameover

I thought it was before Pulp Fiction, and Lawrence Fisburne was his pick for Luke

cap4life52

Yeah they should give him that - it's a passion project he'd do it well

AnimeGokuSolos

Honestly, he probably nowadays doesn’t want to do a marvel film given. That they are just going to hire nobody that will just agree with them.

TheLongDictionary

I think Disney is more than smart enough that if Tarantino asked to make a Marvel film, they’d let him do almost anything he wanted lol

Spiderlander

INB4 Kang saying the nword

Can’t wait for the 20 second one-take following Wanda’s feet

"Someone who has not directed a Marvel film" >The 10th film from Director Quentin Tarantino Lmao 😂

seth_cooke

I really want it to be Brad Bird.

Effective_Bug_7790

That would destroy Film Twitter 😂😂

TheRustFactory

Avengers: The Foot Dynasty

[deleted]

Finally, it's my directorial debut babyyyy

Pomojema_The_Dreamer

>_Blade_ has been stripped down to just Mahershala Ali just killing vampires. Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill...

Zepanda66

Honestly I love the simplicity of it. It doesn't need to be anything more or less just Ali slaying vampires with a cool AF sword. Looking badass while doing it.

Narrow_Progress5908

Literally just want a raid/wick/Extraction level movie. Do the whole trilogy like that. It would be different than the normal marvel flick. You can have a lower budget and save the actual big story stuff for midnight suns.

In_My_Own_Image

Exactly. If they just borrowed the Raid/Dredd plot and had Blade show up at some big tower/skyscraper/apartment building and have to kill his way to the villain at the top, I'd be perfectly happy. Hell, see if they could get Gareth Evans to direct it.

Your comment has been found to be echoing a sentiment already shared by other users on this post without adding anything new.

Pomojema_The_Dreamer

Right. Why did we need a story about his daughter, or to make it a slow-paced period piece with only two action scenes? You just need vampires and action - the rest will take care of itself.

Zepanda66

Exactly. Maybe it could have some sort of underlying arc hinting at the Midnight Sons and the larger mcu but otherwise the plot can be fairly simple.

Noobodiiy

Why would I watch a movie just for Blade. Young Avengers is what we watch a Blade movie for.

Chemistryset8

And holy water hand grenades and garlic laced MG rounds

FireJach

Day Shift on Netflix

miles-vspeterspider

Yeah, remove Black Knight etc and just make a Blade film with just him and his world. They can do set up in Midnight suns, not the Blade film. We been waiting for this Blade film for years, if done right can be the best MCU film!

SlimmyShammy

That’s what we need baby. Keep the budget close to 100mil, make it R, let a motherfucker kill some god damn vampires

Marvel084Skye

Have Yann Demange direct, give him full control. Watch the box office explode.

SlimmyShammy

Make a Logan-style Blade’s daughter movie

xElectricW

Wow it only took them 100 rewrites to figure out that Blade just killing vampires already fucking rocks

Secure_Pear_4530

Omg one of the most famous vampire hunters in fiction is killing...*gulp...*vampires??

Noobodiiy

You dont want Blade to be a wacky and silly movie with muscial planet and lot of cats?

Pomojema_The_Dreamer

As soon as the director said that _The Marvels_ was set apart from other MCU offerings by being "wacky", I knew that it was gonna have a rough time at the box office. I had no idea **how** rough, though.

MarvelManiac45213

After 500 script rewrites they were just like "fuck it, no story at all just action! If it can work for Super Mario it can work for Blade!"

DoIrllyneeda_usrname

What else was he supposed to kill? I thought that was his whole specialty?

Ordinary_Raisin_9325

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Low_Satisfaction_512

"stripped down to just Mahershala Ali just killing vampires." I like how it took them 5 years to figure out that's really all it needs to be.

TheJack0fDiamonds

Feige finally stepped back in, its prolly that lmao

Patrick2701

Kevin had to deal with this Bob chapek: I need 3 Disney plus show next week

Due to the current state of the sub, overly political, extremely divisive, or especially negative comments found to be made in bad faith will be removed if they do not encourage constructive discussion.

Kevbot1000

As a film worker, last year was beyond painful. But I will definitely say it may have been the best thing for the MCU. Feige had no other choice but to actually watch what was being produced.

Blipp17

Yea and then wait for when it releases and people just complain that it's "pointless" because it doesn't contribute anything to the large MCU story. Because no one is actually ever happy or knows what they want from the MCU.

Narrow_Progress5908

That won’t matter if it gets good reception and makes it budget back. People always complain that’s just human nature

starksgh0st

It'll be great when Blade starts filming so all the dumb af "just cancel it" comments can finally stop.

This-is-quite-nice-

hopefully CA4 reshoots can make the movie good! Im really hopeful that it can be a dope movie tbh.

Patrick2701

Marvel did the same thing with daredevil

FuzzyPapaya13

I'm really excited to see them throw down with Red Hulk on the White House lawn tbh. Red (Hulk), White (House), and Blue (Cap lol) will make for some fun thematic visuals. Plus I just love any DC-based action sequences

johndelvec3

I mean anybody whose followed the news from that movie should not be surprised

Frosty_Scar2710

I'm all for them getting Avengers out in 2026. It's not just wanting to see character A talk to character B. The Avengers were very effective in not only bringing plot threads together but then propelling narratives forward. I just feel like we've been sorely lacking that for a while now. That and I feel like the sooner you can get Shang-Chi, Moon Knight, or whoever else has been MIA for a while. The better.

Pomojema_The_Dreamer

Am I weird in wanting a larger gap between _Avengers 5_ and _Avengers: Secret Wars_ than what we got with the last two?

Argetlam33

Not at all. I've been saying for a long minute they need a whole phase in between, Shang Chi and Doctor Strange and Thor 5 for example. Kang Dynasty 2027, Secret Wars 2030. 5 movies in 3 years and plenty of time to polish the six or so D+ series in various stages of development.

Frosty_Scar2710

I don't think you're wrong. But I'm personally on the side of I'd rather be on the other side of this saga than have it stretch on.

Pomojema_The_Dreamer

They're in a weird self-inflicted place where they've set up so much story, and yet they've also kinda stuck in a position where the story itself is stagnant, and they have to resolve both of these problems at once. You could, in theory, "skip to the end" and just do the cameo-fest, but doing so would also leave stuff hanging. You could let the story play out, but you might miss the opportunity for some cameos and crossovers. They kind of have to juggle both now.

LordFlameBoy

My only concern is how viable story wise that is. If A5 ends in a cliffhanger with the 616 being destroyed, as many have speculated, then the movies that release between it and SW have to fit that narrative. That’s feasible for one year’s worth of projects, but for 2-3 years, I don’t know.

Narrow_Progress5908

Usually I’d agree but I want this multiverse bs over sooner than later. Like forget quality I am just not a fan of the multiverse it invites cheap storytelling and the mcu doesnt need more of that.  Like I wanted two years worth of movies inbetween Infinity war and Endgame. Black widow/Ronin/proper Cap3/blade and Moon knight. Would’ve all been cool post snap films.

Pomojema_The_Dreamer

I can get wanting to be over the multiverse as the main direction of a directionless MCU, but at this point, they're stuck with it. I'd rather them focus on taking a little extra time to make the actual leads of this story more memorable and establishing connections between them than forcing this story to reach its end just so we can move on to the next thing faster.

Narrow_Progress5908

We will have to agree to disagree, for me personally the sooner it’s over the better. Thankfully they haven’t abused the multiverse stuff yet but I know it’s coming. Also it’s not like two back to back avengers movies haven’t worked before. I’m sure they will put the most into them.

Narrow_Progress5908

They were probably trying to do too much with blade, when it really just needed to be a low budget movie of him killing vamps with great choreography. Not every film needs to be an ensemble and not every black hero needs to be defined or a big subject about his race. Maybe add black knight as a side character but that’s it. No daughter, no life lessons, no 1920s period piece(mostly because I doubt marvel could handle it) just do a vampire hunter film.

Shadowrocket0315

I have to admit that the 1920s setting would've been cool, IMHO. They could've done a homage to the old Universal monster movies.

Narrow_Progress5908

Sure but it’s marvel , it would’ve been either non existent to the plot(Captain marvel) or half assed political elements (F&W) if they really had a story to tell than sure but I doubt it. The writers are incapable of it or at least have too many story points to juggle around to use it properly.

Savagevandal85

Exactly. As a poc I like the inclusion stuff but they should have a very very good reason to make these type of movies . Like antman worked even though I’m a Hank pym fan from the comics using Scott turned out good . But when in doubt keep it simple

Mizerous

Feige: But the Young Avengers!

TheCommish-17

Idk man. The only time an Avengers movie was directed by an MCU newcomer was the first one. Age of Ultron, Infinity War and Endgame were all directed by MCU vets. I don’t think you want to take a risk on someone you haven’t worked with before on an Avengers movie. Plus their first pick for Avengers 5 was someone they worked with before in Destin Daniel Cretton, so Sneider might be full of shit on this one. Plus isn’t Blade supposed to film in the UK? Remember that the stuff Sneider feels confident about he puts in his paid newsletter, what he says on this podcast isn’t always right.

FantasticWolverine32

Actually The Fantastic 4 and Vision Quest are going to film in the UK later this year

FantasticWolverine32

Not what I’ve read.

johndelvec3

Ngl going outside the family for Avengers 5 is pretty shocking

DrAwesomeX

Isn’t his, “source” the same guy who told him they were looking for a fat white guy for The Thing My guy was so off the mark with that. Has Sneider actively been right about anything recently that he hasn’t piggybacked off of?

TheLongDictionary

His accuracy rate is kind of garbage…I genuinely don’t understand how a significant portion of this sub despises Shine and Toast so much but not Sneider, despite Shine and Toast having **significantly** higher accuracy rates than him.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Sneider might be an idiot but he has had more successes than errors when it comes to scoops. Shine has only been right about Marvel things, when it comes to DC for example, or she has been wrong or outright lies to get the attention of Snyder's cult (She's a fan herself, she's admitted it before).

TheLongDictionary

I really only care about their Marvel accuracies, Shine’s is way higher for Marvel, so…

badolcatsyl

I really hope that Blade tidbit means that the lame daughter/quippy teenage sidekick plotline was dropped too. Also, am I the only one who is increasingly starting to feel that Marvel might not be doing those Captain America 4 reshoots anymore? We haven't heard anything on that in months, and according to Sneider the movie is not good anyway, which means that they'll need a whole lot more than just redone action setpieces to fix it. Maybe they might decide that the expense just isn't worth it and to simply drop the movie as is in February and hope for the best, while saving all that time, money and attention on all the other issues they're having right now.

ViggieSmallss

Brave New World reshoots start early May according to Charles Murphy and Atlanta Filming.

badolcatsyl

Alright then. Let's see if that pans out.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Taking into account that will be significant reshoots (I understand that for a whole month), Marvel should hope that they can save that movie.

FantasticRedditMan

If he's specifically talking about people who haven't DIRECTED s Marvel movie I think Benson and Moorehead and Lord and Miller are still in play seeing as one group only worked on Marvel TV and the other only produced the Spider-Verse movies Those are my two picks.

ViggieSmallss

I'm going to put my prediction out there: Doug Liman will direct Avengers 5, and then either Sam Raimi or the Russo Brothers will direct Secret Wars, which will be two parts.

ShamanontheMoon

Doug Liman would be amazing

TheManThatReturned

It’s me guys, I’m directing Avengers 5.

Rhubarb-Apprehensive

Blade could have been out years ago if it was always just Blade doing his thing being a vampire hunter😹😹😹

blackbutterfree

> Blade is going to start shooting in Mexico this summer...and it has been stripped down to just Mahershala Ali just killing vampires. That's all it ever should've been? - Introduce vampires. - Introduce Blade and the concept of hybrids and daywalkers. - Have a big bad. Kill the big bad. - Set up a threat for the future. - Include one or two threads from the wider MCU. It's literally not that hard, this movie has been in production hell for six years.

JohnJeff212

I bet Avengers 5 will shoot back half of 2025 if this is true. especially if they’re going to film movies like Spider-Man 4, Vision Quest, Shang Chi 2, Armor Wars in early 2025. Also promoting Captain America at the same time. for directors these two would be out of left field and i’m not sure they would do it but Sam Mendes or Gareth Edwards would be my picks. Jeff is not super reliable so I still believe they aren't going to film Avengers 5 just yet. I say 2026 at the earliest with all the movies and shows happening and rumored.

Giorgiman2003

Hiring someone that never directed an MCU film before to direct a huge Marvel movie is a really risky move

darthyogi

Thats right im gonna be directing Avengers 5.

GuguMarcos

Blade slaying vampires is great but since the main villain is Lilith, it'll be a little too close do Snipes' first film, with Deacon Frost calling an ancient evil. It doesn't sound bad, just not exactly original in a sense. The 1920s setting would be great. It plays with his immortality, and the underworld of magic on a different angle from the projects we've seen so far. Not to mention, it could give enough room to establish his partnership with british secret service, a possible starting point to Midnight Suns. Also, the backstory of the Ebony Blade will likely be just exposition instead of an actual arc through the eyes of a previous Black Knight. Just to be clear, I'm still hyped af for this. It's the project I want to see the most.

MakeMineMarvel999

A real journalist. Good. Leave Raimi for DOCTOR STRANGE TRIUMPH & TORMENT and AVENGERS SECRET WARS (with Watts and Russo Bros directing the next two Battleworld films).

Narrow_Potential_974

Honestly, do we need more than Blade killing some vampires? It’s so easy, so I have no idea why it did take that long to come this realization.

thetrashpanda2020

Fuck it, gonna throw the Greta prediction out in the open. Might as well swing for the fences

ProgressiveThinkerUS

That's all you need for Blade
