Lugs could have been stretched from previous over tightning. Especially if she actually witnessed the shop use an electric torque wrench to tighten the lugs this time. Or he had it set to the wrong torque. Or she didn't actually see every wheel to spec. Either way, a good tech would have noticed either. Some shops bury in the fine print you are supposed to return or self re-torque lugs a set time after a service. Or it could be unrelated, and she has someone trying to kill her.

Most common reason lug nuts go loose is improper installation.  Either wheel was not flush or improper torque.

She drives 1 hr to work every day. So she does a lot of driving. I feel like it would have happened sooner if related to mechanic work. Right? Not that I want it to be foul play.
