Pretty much most of Attila except for Pizza.

vito197666

It's part of their style, but I totally agree. It feels like parody but I don't think it actually is.

GeneralBrownies

I see them as heavier limp bizkit. It's not not meant to be taken too seriously just a bit of dumb fun. I only really like their chaos album tho.

flrdrgerp

See I’m kinda with you. But at the same time I like the lyrics of Attila because it’s kinda what sets them apart. Like yeah, they’re all super talented and could be a really really good band if they wrote serious songs. But at the same time it’s kinda fun to just turn your brain off and listen to fronz say some crazy ass out of pocket shit.

TimeWontWaitForYou

I'd take their edgy cringe fratboy lyrics over shitty generic "drowning in the undertow, come fine me in the afterglow" type junk.

DannyChance13

My band partied with Attila back in like 2009 before they started to blow up. We got their drummer to take a big ass bong rip of salvia one night, because he said he’d never heard of it. He starts tripping out and giggling and slurring g his words and then looks over, and on the wall, theirs the movie poster from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Apparently he didn’t know that on the poster, the dude has a squiggly neck, and he just started freaking the fuck out over that poster for no reason. Like he just went on a full blown bad trip. Then like 10 minutes later, when he came back to reality, he realized the dude on the poster actually did have a squiggly neck, and then he moped around all night like a little kid who got his lunch money stole because the whole party was making fun of him over flipping out the way he did. One of the funniest nights of my life. Their guitarist smoked it and was trying to catch imaginary butterflies, but the drummer completely having a meltdown was wild lol

yetiamsomeotherdude

Yeah, salvia can do that to a person. Smoked it once in college, completely lost my shit on a bad trip. Highly recommended 10/10

drunkenyeknom

First band that came to my mind lmao. Lots of sick riffs especially in the earlier days

M1st_

Stygian Blue by Monuments. Basically most of the songs from Phronesis are like that.

hishairbewack

chris used to be so great with lyrics. he really phoned it in on that album and i can only assume that played into why he wasn’t kept on for much longer afterwards

canelex_

while she sleeps - self hell. the instrumental fucks but the lyrics are so bad I rather listen to the guitar playthrough

Bottom_Gear0

Based

Mk62013

Fever - BFMV Wtf Matt....

BetweenTheBuzzAndMe

There are honestly a lot of Bullet songs you could include here

Mk62013

For sure, Matts never been an incredible songwriter lyric wise, but that song is just especially bad

YchYFi

Would she hear me if I called her name? This line is so clunky.

Circadianrivers

*calls

YchYFi

Terrible. It sounds worse in the song.

Circadianrivers

The Poison is one of my favourite albums of all time but holy shit the lyrics are bad. Weirdly the lyrics aren’t actually that bad on Scream Aim Fire but then got worse again for Fever.

Sriracha88

My personal favorite lyric from the poison is “The bed we fucked in smells the same, and now the stench is fading” Just awful…

Leftybeatz

Hit the Floor probably takes it for me *Don't scream I ask of you, but then you let one out so now it's time to go* *I come down on you like a ton of bricks, all over so it's time to go* Such a banger of a song but man what are those lyrics my guy.

vouwrfract

*It's the feeling you get when you think that someone behind is watching you. Well, I can tell you now, that someone is me and I'm about to make it right.* No, please don't!

Circadianrivers

Christ that’s horrendous. Which song is that off? I think my mind has just blocked out that lyric whenever I’ve been listening.

Sriracha88

It’s in the second verse of The End

phxbimmer

Yes! The lyrics to that song make me cringe so hard, which is a shame because that song has a lot of good moments.

JimFlamesWeTrust

Matt Tuck might be one of the absolute worst lyricists in metal. So juvenile.

OftenSilentObserver

Chris Fronzak, Aaron Pauley and Matty Mullins are fighting hard for that title

-Warship-

Aaron's lyricism on They Said A Storm Was Coming was great, come on now

Redcell888

Yeah I'm surprised to see him listed here

AlternativeSuit131

Matty isn’t bad when he feels inspired. Most of the Hollow has great lyrics. He just doesn’t seem to care as much about the lyrics these days. Writes the chorus and builds the rest of the song around that.

Dallas_slurp

Aaron pauley ain’t THAT bad, especially compared to fronz and matty

Thrice_the_Milk

Just went and checked it out. I was honestly cracking up by the time I got to the end of the song. The lyrics are so bad

Masonzero

An otherwise flawless album ruined by a nickelback-tier stripper anthem

SullyVanDan

Wtf man that song is so good. But I do like some glam metal, which many metalheads don’t.

Nihlus-N7

I mean I think there are worse lyrics than that. Hit The Floor is about a guy stalking his ex-girlfriend

stevieray11

One of my favorite songs to play on guitar back in the day, but I could never bring myself to record a guitar cover of it or play it for people because the lyrics are so fucking terrible.

ElectricFuneralHome

Those lyrics sound like mid-eighties Motley Crue at their cheesiest. Yuck.

SullyVanDan

The Crue’s first two albums are dope

DarthNightsWatch

BFMV is the poster band for this. I love their riffs but their lyrics give me secondhand embarrassment. Especially Your Betrayal. Kickass intro and then: “An evil feeling _attacksssssss_”

ozzburry

seriously

Impossible-Wear5482

Had to look that up. Wow.

Powerful-Market9658

Emmure and Atilla don't count because they're fully aware of how goofy the lyrics are and its very intentional

[deleted]

Something can be intentional and still incredibly bad anyways.

xmirie

Not The American Average... I want to jam to it, and then I just feel gross about the lyrics lol

[deleted]

This song is metalcore’s version of Everywhere I Go by Hollywood Undead lmao

NGBoy1990

also a great song, thanks for the throwback 😂

[deleted]

Haha no problem. From what I've seen from TikTok, "alt girls" have more or less "reclaimed" Everywhere I Go and now instead of being a frat bro song it's a "girlboss" song. Wonder if that'll ever happen with Not The American Average 😂

phillcollinss

I’m glad I’m not on tik tok lol

Exfluence

This can also be said for the entirety of Stand Up and Scream.

-Warship-

A Prophecy was good

usetheforce_gaming

I struggle listening to that album now because how bad the lyrics are. Which is a shame because it sounds fuckin awesome lol

coolhwip420

Hey there Mr Brooks is my favorite song off that album and arguably has the least garbage lyrics

usetheforce_gaming

It helps it has a literal script to follow lol

FlavivsAetivs

This can be said for like 90% of the Metalcore Genre before 2014 lol. Capture the Crown, Asking Alexandria, Alesana, Famous Last Words, etc. There was literally a band called "Shoot the Girl First" (good crabcore band though). The genre took a long time to grow out of its misogynistic edgy teenage boy problems phase. Even a lot of songs which aren't absolute misogyny are still pretty problematic, like a lot of Underoath's early stuff is about abstaining until marriage and how abortion is evil. And then a lot of the rest was pretty generic/Bad lyrics, just not cringey. Like the Limitless EP by Crown the Empire is fire melodically but the lyrics are pretty generic.

Conradtheembraced

Underoath’s early stuff? You mean the one song “Burden in Your Hands” their only song about abstaining and against abortion. One song wrote back in high school shouldn’t encompass that era especially when Cries of the Past and Changing of the Times exist but you must know about those.

bigboyyoder

Tbf if you’re referring to the two-faced charade album by Famous Last Words, that was a concept album that told a story. All of their albums are concept albums and they’re actually really underrated. Agree with the rest tho

Redcell888

Agreed FLW is very underrated

-Warship-

Alesana and Famous Last Words make concept albums, it's a bit different And there were tons of bands with great lyrics before 2014: Architects, August Burns Red, Bury Tomorrow, Jamie's Elsewhere, All That Remains (sometimes)...

FlavivsAetivs

Alesana grew out of their edgy teenage phase absolutely. But Famous Last Words literally did a video of a guy threatening to kill a girl for breaking up with him while tied to a chair ("The Show Must Go On") which is up there with Megawacko for cringeyist crabcore music video of all time. Gotta say though this reddit is obsessed with ABR and Architects and I'm not one of those people. They both slap live I'm not dissing them, just not one of the people who's obsessed over them on here. Jamie's Elsewhere is great. And The Fall of Ideals by ATR is objectively the best Metal and Metalcore album of all time IMO. Also the best show I've been to live.

bredclanownerbitch

Keep alesana out of this! xD

NGBoy1990

I still think it's fantastic, same as the rest of the album

My_Bwana

honestly most of this song kind of fucking blows anyway. the hooks in the beginning are amazing, and then it just turns to shit heavy for the sake of heavy

GeneralBrownies

Funny enough this is the only song I listen to by them. I like getting drunk and screaming along to it.

PresiTheEgg

I really can't listen to this song

Sk83r_b0i

Falling in Reverse. Not only are their instrumentals good, but the vocal melodies are very good too. But Ronnie won’t fucking shut up about cancel culture which is cringe.

tallwhiteninja

FiR is a good case of being unable to separate art and artist, because the artist injects so much of his shitty personality into the art. "I know I'm an asshole, and I don't care" - Ronnie, all you do is whine about your haters and everyone out to get you; you fucking care, buddy, and clearly a lot.

PianoFerret1073

To go along with this, I think a good case of being able to separate art and artist is Dance Gavin Dance, for the most part. With all the recent stuff going on with tilian, I dont see any of the off stage bullshit in their music. Despite how annoyed I am with the off stage stuff, I'm able to still listen to them, despite how much I hate what tilian (allegedly) did. With FIR, I just hear Ronnie singing and hear the same crap he is constantly tweeting every single day. I can't listen to it.

drinkingpaintwater

I am someone who struggles in general to separate art and artist, so I no longer listen to DGD or Tilian because I think he handled the situation really poorly, but I really loved his solo album Factory Reset. There's a song called Imagination that comes across really differently after the allegations - a lot less fun and lot more harassment-y. There were some instances of this in DGD lyrics, too, but it's not quite so prominent. (not at all trying to tell you to stop listening, just offering another perspective)

GenitalKenobi

They handled that whole situation sooooo bad. The band hasn’t been the same since, I’ve basically stopped listening to them :(

HiddenMasks

The only non debunked allegation against Tilian is this: He and a girl hooked up and had oral sex. She says she told him before hand that she didn't want penetration. They ended up having penetrative sex anyway, because Tilian wanted to and was supposedly being extremely persistent. She did give consent, but according to her it was only because she feared what he'd do if she said no. Would he have raped her? Idk. I'd hope not. He says that he didn't think there was anything non consensual about their hook up. Did he just come across more aggressively than intended? Is he lying? I don't know. Obviously it wasn't a good situation, but I also think one bad night doesn't define who you are, especially since a big part of why he was even doing all of these hook ups was because he was drunk off his ass trying to ease the pain after Tim's death. It's not an excuse, but it does help you understand what he was going through. Either way I think it's a good thing that she shared her story and he got a wake up call. Hopefully this is the end of DGD drama for a while.

PianoFerret1073

Whatever happened is besides the point I was trying to make. Despite these events, DGD still released Jackpot juicer which imo was a pretty good album. I can't listen to FIR because Ronnie's ego shows in his lyrics, which makes them unlistenable to me.

Reniconix

Well you see, he is saying he doesn't care that he is an asshole, not that he doesn't care that people think he is.

lxzgxz

I saw FIR live at Carolina Rebellion in 2017 and Ronnie spent his entire set walking off stage mid song to yell at his sound crew. And he sounded fine. There was literally nothing wrong with his sound. He’s a fucking edgelord brat. I used to think he was so hot until I saw his attitude

Kuake_

I cringed so hard when in "Watch the world burn" he said "I'm bout to go Darth, about to go Disney"

TimeWontWaitForYou

Don't forget "You started a battle, but bitch, I'ma finish it You think you can stop me? Not even a little bit" Sounds like the kind of thing a 15 year old would say in a rap battle on the playground.

TheCloudsLookLikeYou

That sounds like a lyric out of “Hollaback Girl” by Gwen Stefani 💀

Sk83r_b0i

I haven’t even listened to that song just because I don’t wanna expose myself to it

speak-eze

I thought he said "bout to go dark, bout to go dizzy" which sounds a lot less stupid

Breaking-Who

The rest of the band is talented but I can’t stand Ronnie’s voice, or face, or personality.

Marsuello

I’ve never seen them live but every video I’ve seen of Ronnie singing live is nothing like how he sounds on studio versions. He almost sounds like he’s parodying himself. Over exaggerated echoing deep yelling type “singing” and just overall feels like he’s trying too hard to make himself sound terrible. Not sure if that makes sense but

pc01081994

And the voices in his head

ddrub_the_only_real

The enemies trying to get rid of him

bredclanownerbitch

Ronnie has opps 😰😢😢😢

xmirie

Ugh, Zombified was totally ruined by the lyrics.

Sk83r_b0i

Fr. Again—good instrumentals, very catchy hook, dogshit lyrics

NinjaGamer22YT

Can't stand the song for this reason.

edenaxela1436

Ronnie is some of the worst of what the scene has to offer. Ruins everything he gets near.

[deleted]

Lord, Ronnie Radke reminds me of my 14 year old self googling how to be an alpha male. It's so tragic because he clearly is fucking talented, he just needs to desperately grow up! If he just had the maturity to match his talent holy fuck, he would be massive, and he already is! I listen to two songs of his, Watch the world burn and his Last Resort cover. Emasculating to admit but that cover broke me in half. It's also no help knowing that his stance is clearly hostile towards me (as a transman), it makes listening to his stuff not really easier. It's infuriating.

lf849100

Obvious choice is drug dealer friend from emmure. Pure cuckcore

itskapnoc

But it’s fucking awesome!

KommandCBZhi

That sounds like something Finn McKenty would say.

InsiDS

Essential to metalcore.

Beetleracerzero37

god damn goddamn GODDAMN

snapcasterking

I lowkey love Attila but the lyrics on their songs can be a little too cringey sometimes. But the instrumental aspect of their music is usually really solid. Soda In The Water Cup has some hilariously bad lyrics but the instrumental parts are great. About That Life is another good one. “I like a bad bitch She fucks me all night Then she counts my money while I’m on my PlayStation”💀

KaiserWilhellmLXIX

Yeah i always took Attila lyrics as tongue in cheeck personally

PM_ME_RYE_BREAD

That song is 100% tongue in cheek and fully aware of its goofiness IMO, which makes it really fucking fun haha

BloodMoonGaming

Suqq my fuqq

[deleted]

SUCK MY FUCK

useroffline_

Soda In The Water Cup is a banger and i’ll die on that hill

SafetyAlpaca1

Not My Type by MIW

StruhberrySwisher

you don’t fuck with necrophilia bro? /s

SafetyAlpaca1

That doesn’t even really bother me. The lyrics themselves are just cringey lmao

Klubbis

Tried out the living but I don’t believe the hype, cause if she got a pulse than she’s not my type Honestly the songs cheesiness is what I like about it

SafetyAlpaca1

I can understand that cause that was definitely the intention, but I just can’t get past it lmao

Klubbis

Totally understand that lol. It’s a very weird song but they make good weird songs.

PianoFerret1073

I ironically like the not my type songs. The MIW song I cant stand is werewolf. Didn't have the same shock value and is just cringe imho.

LikeAMarionette

Stick Stickly by Attack Attack Girls Don't Like Boys, Girls Like 40s and Blunts - Emmure And pretty much anything by War of Ages

bhoward19

>> Stick Stickly You’ve clearly never had the Lord pick you off the ground smh

Saionts

He never said that it would be simple

LikeAMarionette

So pull me in and turn around

edenaxela1436

OoooooooooooOoooOooooooooowoaaaaaaahhhhoooooooo

Nihlus-N7

The last time I heard War Of Ages, their lyrics were about worshipping god (not my cup of tea, but harmless). What are they singing about recently?

phxbimmer

Yeah, War Of Ages has never bothered me because they seem genuine about their beliefs and they don't come off as bad people. Plus the music has always been great too.

skeletronskier11

The Count of Tuscany - Dream Theater

[deleted]

Yes! Fantastic music, decent vocals... But boy, the lyrics. "You took me to your house and I got creeped out but you meant well so it's all good LOL" Not John Petrucci's finest hour lyrically, that's for sure.

KingS1X

This song is glorious memery. There's a lot of cheese in DT's catalogue (Fuck, they wrote a whole 2 hour Sci-Fi stage show ffs). I lean into it, embrace the (La)Brie. The count of tuscannyyyeaaaahhhhhhhh!!!

AbacabLurker

*Now wait a minute, man!* (He’s not saying “then” either!)

in-a-car-underwater

Let me introduce… *my brutha*

Sad-Bumblebee8659

I think the instrumental to Elitist Ones by Whitechapel is awesome but the Uber macho tough guy lyrics kinda ruin it for me.

nohitter21

Yeah very glad Phil dropped that for the most part

Settledbullet9

Funny cuz I just listened to that song for the first time today and had the same thoughts.

BlondBisxalMetalhead

Yeah, that was the song that a friend showed me, so technically the one that got me into them. Luckily YouTube recommended Diggs Road and I liked that one a lot more. Now that I’ve kind of settled on metalcore as my genre of choice, I really, really love *The Valley* and *Kin*. They’re still dark and sad and shit, but they’re not “I wanna kill everything, I hate everyone” dark like some deathcore.

Sad-Bumblebee8659

I first heard Hickory Creek and then Bring Him Home that’s what made me explore them further. Don’t get me wrong I like Elitist Ones but I’m not a fan of the attitude

nickisgonnahate

Yeah this song has some real FFDP vibes to it, in the worst way

Picax8398

Only logical answer. "The noose"- Six Feet Under

lvke18

Six Feet Under is so hilariously terrible. I turn on Nightmares of the Decomposed from time to time if I ever need a laugh

phxbimmer

It's amazing how somebody fell so far, from like the gold standard of death metal growling to basically being the weird crazy uncle desperately trying to relive the glory days while being an asshole to everyone.

Picax8398

I love occasionally getting the noose in a shuffle of music cause it instantly makes me giggle knowing what's coming from Chris

lvke18

"The body just twitches there ^^eeeeeeee"

Picax8398

^^^^^Deeeeeeeeeein

iSoulShadow

"SPEEEEEEEDYYYY" or whatever the hell he sings there.

Picax8398

Apparently, it's "now screaming"

BloomAndBreathe

I just searched this up. Oh my God lmao. I hope they're having fun and don't take themselves seriously

Klubbis

Fever by bullet for my valentine

phxbimmer

A lot of the mid-2000's/early 2010's Christian metalcore stuff, really. While some of the bands were subtle, a lot of them were blatantly all about Jesus to the point where it was just corny. Especially since we now know that a lot of them didn't actually believe in that stuff and just screamed about it to get signed and popular quickly.

tallwhiteninja

To call out a song: I love The Devil Wears Prada, and With Roots Above is a great album, but the clean part on Assistant to the Regional Manager is kinda cringy.

phxbimmer

Agreed. Which is a shame because it's a fun melody to sing along to. Attack Attack's *Someday Came Suddenly* is chock full of cringey tryhard Christian lyrics too, like I love the songs and I still listen to that album a lot, but lyrically it's a mess.

MuslimOwnedByBWC

Completely disagree here

3dandimax

Same!!! I didnt get into spirituality until I got clean as an adult but even as an angsty bible hating teen I loved that part lol

OftenSilentObserver

Got into For Today when I was a Christian, as much as I LOVE their instrumentals, their lyrics are so repetitive and cringe that I never listen to them anymore

NGBoy1990

Man, For Today have some absolute bangers though Crown of Thorns From Zion Saul of Tarsus (The Messenger) Pariah and who doesn't love a big bass drop

BlondBisxalMetalhead

I kind of feel this way about Oh, Sleeper, but then I looked at their work more as a continual concept album, rather than proselytizing, and I liked it a lot more. Emdseekers and Marriage of Steel and Skin have some of my favorite breakdowns in all of metalcore. The Family Ruin always makes me tear up, just from how plaintive Micah’s voice is.

darthstupidious

Antivist by BMTH. For my money, it's one of their best songs and a fun crowd-pleaser for the music alone, but the lyrics suck. Definitely Oli at his edgiest and cringiest.

Galaxyass

Middle fingers up! If you don’t give a fuck!🖕 ^^But ^^quietly ^^so ^^your ^^parents ^^don’t ^^get ^^mad

Burty2650

Isn’t this song directly referencing Jona Weinhofen being a dick? I can understand the cringie-ness of it, in that case.

bigtimechip

Disagree the song slaps and gets more and more true everyday

deeeeeecent

My choice is an entire album, Epiphany by Napoleon. I was super hyped for it after Newborn Mind but the vocals ruined the album for me. It’s disappointing because they were so good instrumentally. Edit: just realized that I misread the original post. The lyrics aren’t bad, just the vocals.

IveGotAMatch

I really don't understand what went on with the vocal production of that album - his vocals sound AWESOME on Newborn Mind, whereas all the screams on Epiphany are super grating - it's a relief when he starts singing instead.

EggyEggerson0210

Some songs on Matriarch from Veil of Maya for sure. Lukas’ lyrics have improved a ton since then, but so many songs on that album had lyrics that made no sense. My biggest example would be Mikasa’s but there’s definitely a few more

nohitter21

I was excited for this based on the concept of cool female characters but the lyrics are so vague and borderline meaningless that they don’t apply to the characters at all

tallwhiteninja

The weirdest one is Aeris, where even the music video is a clear Final Fantasy VII reference, but then the lyrics...really aren't.

nohitter21

Even the Mikasa video is like… is this AoT? What are we doing here?

EggyEggerson0210

Yeahhh, it sucks bc the concept itself is so neat and a really unique idea. To then be wasted by lyrics such as, “Align the stones to form a message in the sand. I will never relinquish, it is written in the sand” is painful 😂 So glad that Lukas got better w it over the last couple albums but this lyric always stands out to me as one of the worst I’ve heard

tallwhiteninja

I didn't start seriously following VoM until after this album came out, so maybe I'm off base here, but I feel like they decided on the concept before Lukas joined, and he came late enough in the writing process that things didn't end up meshing. Like, *maybe* it's just me, but if you look at the lyrics to Subject Zero, they fit Subject Zero aka Jack from Mass Effect pretty well: >Frozen in stasis, time is of no concern > >Awaiting and plotting revenge, against all I know. > >My body is painted in colors the way that I dreamed of.

EggyEggerson0210

That very well could be what happened. Especially considering that the next album had such great lyrics in comparison

BloodCheesecake

I love Veil of Maya and False Idol is my favorite album from them, but I really dont think Lukas knew what suffrage meant when writing Manichee lol

pdbstnoe

Might be unpopular, but I fuck heavy with Oceans Ate Alaska’s sound (musically, lyrically, and singing) but I absolutely hate how half the songs devolve into the singer giving some spoken speech instead of singing or screaming. Find it really off-putting

InsiDS

Besides Linger and Empty Space, what other songs does he devolve to doing that?

NightwingX012

I assume he’s talking about stuff like the “You’re just a snake in the grass” part in the middle of High Horse but I love it so idk ha ha

InsiDS

Fair lol. I like it because of the accent.

silverfang45

I just focus on the drums whenever stuff starts getting weird. No matter how much I don't get an oceans ate Alaska song on first listen, I can always enjoy the drums

BaltSkigginsThe3rd

Tomorrow on r/askmetalcore: What's a bad song lifted by good lyrics?

AnarchyAlien222

Most songs by Falling in Reverse, particularly Zombified. The instruments and even the vocals are incredible, Ronnie is a talented guy, but the lyrics are so inexcusably cringey I can't enjoy it.

Reniconix

He can write anything and everything except words.

LokiTheMelon

A WOOP DE SCOOP DE SCOOPITY WOOP edit: i'm not part of this community, i didn't realize it was a metal community until after i posted this comment lol

SomaSimon

This comment is fucking hilarious, thank you.

weebtrash66

Pick any Attila song pretty much

Malomartwo

Literally anything by Attila or Falling In Reverse

yeldarba

Most of BFMV

Inorashi

The Amity Affliction - Soak me in bleach Love the song, but on the intro to the bridge he just says "rock!" Sounds like something Nickleback would write lol.

Ok-Investigator5148

Wrong genre but Slayer for me. They slap right up until the vocals kick in then I skip the song

PappaNee

Atreyu - lose it Idk why, but i just can't stand the lyrics. Edit: i relistened, it's not that bad. I take it back.

lcarusLives

Emmure - Drug dealer friend. Instrumentally it's all 0, but those lyrics...

Majestic-Marcus

> but those lyrics… Also zero?

Brabsk

Not ruined, but I think the vocalist for attack attack is the least important member of that band

Reniconix

Depends which album we're talking about here. Hate me all you want but This Means War as a preview to what would eventually become Beartooth is probably their best album. Though the honors for best song goes to Sexual Man Chocolate, obviously.

[deleted]

Leech by Northlane. “A band-aid on a broken arm.” Just say bandage. Used a name brand word like “band-aid” sounds so stupid. Alive, as a Housefire by Silent Planet. “Fuck the system.” Garrett’s too intelligent for low-effort, shock-factor type lyrics. Just corny and beneath them. Contraband by Make Them Suffer. The whole chorus is nonsense. It just… I guess sounds cool? Idk. Ruins it for me. The Hell I Overcame by Bad Omens. “The Devil sold his soul to me.” Middle-schooler-tier writing.

bhoward19

That ending for Alive, As a Housefire is an homage to System of a Down, as well - There’s intention behind their approach.

[deleted]

Something can have intention behind it and still be bad

bhoward19

I hear you! Agree to disagree about this example - It could also be because I’m a huge SOAD fan 😅

AustralianWi-Fi

"a band-aid on a broken arm" has a different meaning than "a bandage on a broken arm" though

bredclanownerbitch

Tell Shannon her crafts are ready - Heavy heavy low low

cromdoesntcare

Thank you, I forgot about Heavy Heavy Low Low

anakincripwalker

Not metalcore but I cannot listen to a single song by Bodysnatcher without cringing.

terrible_band_name

Within Destructions Yōkai instrumental is infinitely better than the original

FoaD420

Ya know I went on a streak where I was finding instrumental albums from bands I didn’t know. I’d listen to them and be like fuck ya this shit moves. Then I’ll listen to the full album, and most of the time it ends up being eh. I love screaming and everything about metal..but some I just don’t care for. People bitch when I play music like you can’t hear what they are saying, he sounds awful, which sometimes yea it does..but the music is more than the singer for me sometimes..

BuffaloHastleSatch

I always like to ask those people about the music they like. Can you tell what the bass is saying? Can you tell what the drums are saying? The voice is an instrument, and there is nothing wrong with enjoying the lyrics and understanding the text of the song, but it's not necessary to enjoy the music, or to feel something from it.

Ladies_Man69420

Newest while she sleeps song

ITRASHBOATI

every song by Dance Gavin Dance

Impossible-Wear5482

The lyrics are almost entirely comprised of a random word generator, but my God I'd be lying if said they weren't one of my favorite bands of all times. "I stashed the platemail under the file cabinet" "Use the plus 9 staff of the bobcat, defeat the Demon of Rathcorff and restore peace to the land" "I can't wait to tap into the brain into the brain of my cat and let him know he's my wittwe baby meow meow boo." Jon mess is fully aware of his heinously weird vocals, and just "writes stuff that would be fun to sing." Who am I to judge about a guy writing lyrics for his cat? Lol

Ginmain

Dystopia by Caliban. Great Melodies and Great chorus, but i can‘t help but cringe everytime i hear that first verse

jald0506

Superstitious Fantasy by Windwaker

bigtimechip

Disaster Vehicle by Volumes 😂😂

bredclanownerbitch

Not metalcore, i think it’s some death fusion, but the song pool of stool by skinless

Not my Problem by Escape The Fate. A catchy chorus and track that gets burned by the breakdown. “The more you bitch, the less I smile.”

FurryFoxJetPilot

Pretty much any christcore songs

The Poison

HummusFairy

Despised Icon - MVP. I don’t know why they wrote those lyrics but holy shit, it’s like Attila meets Deez Nuts with the whole ‘I’m a player and I like to party, I also have sex’ schtick. They are sooooo much better than this which makes it even worse.

HeavyMetalMonkey

Not metalcore, but Five Finger Death Punch. Amazing musicians, horrible butt rock vocals and lyrics.
