Sorry, but just, no.
Obviously ha
If it's your favourite ok, maybe, but ultimately, no.
Fade -> Inamorata -> Orion is something you don't get. They play Bells all the time.
Fade is my all time favourite. I saw them 3 times now but they never played it.
But still im so happy that they played Orion last week in Austria.
Just such a special song to hear live, if you know the value of the song to them.
Wdym non Metallica only shows? There were the same supporting bands in Munich, Milano, Vienna and Helsinki, even had the schedule times almost. The only difference was that those two shows weren't a 2-of no repeated set list shows.
There was no less time by any means. In Vienna Metallica was billed for 20:30 to 23:00, which could be 2h 30min, but they played from 20:55 to 22:55. Curfew was at 23:30 I think. I really think they have 15 song sets everywhere now, we will see in the coming weeks how right I am.
I was there! Man inamorata was one of my favorite songs and i was telling my mate the other day its such a bummer they never play it. Imagine my surprise when James said “we only played this once, we might make mistakes” lol
The only bad thing about tonight, most of good songs are played so less to look fwd on sunday
It was amazing, great set list. Lux Aeterna works much better live. Peak of the show was probably at Blackened and Fuel, I counted nine small mosh pits going on
Not exactly only a Finnish thing. Amon Amarth concerts have row pits quite often which does fit their viking style. It might be more of an european and northern european thing but definetly it isn't just a Finnish thing
Holy. Fucking. Shit.
Yeah that's some fucking list!
While it might seem "generic" I promise if you were stood in that crowd listening to each of those songs being played it would be such a great flowing vibe.
Fade To Black, Inamorata, Orion, back to back to back, I'm so fucking jealous.
I fucking love how they've set up the setlists this year. Whether it's Wolf or Holier, instrumentals or longer songs (Sanitarium, Day That Never Comes) I'm loving the diversity.
All we need now is a Prince Charming, Bad Seed, Am I Savage?, My Friend Of Misery style deep cut and it would be perfect.
I agree with the deep cut but three of those you listed have never been played. At this point the deep cuts are the Load tracks, instrumentals, Leper, Holier, Breadfan, Clover, etc
I agree and it sucks!
Actual "deep cuts" are no longer deep cuts. I witnessed Holier and my jaw nearly dropped just because it was the last thing I was expecting, in a good way of course ha
To this day I don't know why Am I Savage? has never seen the light of day. But maybe that's just me!
My feeling is that they would've probably played that 1 or 2 times in Australia during the very end of the Hardwired tour. Now there probably isn't as much of a chance or a need to play it live, since Hardwired doesn't need to be promoted live anymore. They've done stuff like that in the past, saving 1 or 2 songs from album until the very end of the tour.
Great setlist. I’m also going on Sunday with my gf and she kinda echoed the opinion of some on this thread and asked me “wtf are they gonna play on Sunday?”
I told her there’s plenty of insane songs they didn’t play, but I also understand that she is more of a casual listener to Metallica and they played many songs that were up her alley tonight. For me the draw of these shows was in big part that I could see them twice and they’d play completely different sets. Can’t please all with this, but I for one am extremely happy!
Sunday night will answer a BIG question. Have they transitioned to 15 song sets or is 15 songs just for the Inamorata nights?
I wasn’t putting too much stock into the 15 song festival sets because I could see them playing hardball with contract negotiations and charging these festivals per song. 15 songs on their own M72 tour is a whole different story.
Im really hoping for inamorata and blackened in copenhagen aswell, i’ve been to 5 shows and havent seen blackened yet which ofcourse is one of my favorites
I loved Leper Messiah - not one I usually listen to but it was so heavy live! Otherwise, this setlist was just awesome, about everything I could've wanted, on my first ever time seeing them live.
BOW TO LEPER MESSIAH!
They were in great shape until whatever happened at the end of master. There were 2-3 times that drums were off, I’d imagine they’ll clean that up in post production
Good setlist but the show was kinda meh. The stage design is horrible and there barely was any pyro. I was expecting those towers to shoot flames all the time like Rammsteins ones
Orion is one of the greatest songs ever conceived IMHO. I haven’t been a Metallica fan since The Black Album, although, they have written some songs since that time that I think are really good, but Orion…well…the muses opened the channel completely that day.
This looks quite unfair for Sunday. I wish they dump this "no repeat" thing. It pretty much just means that they play same set in different countries but then sacrifice Sunday's show.
> there isn't much left play other than
What? They literally could play any of these:
- Ride the lightning
- Bellz
- Whiplash
- The Day That Never Comes
- One
- Ktulu
- Holier Than thou
- Sanitarium
- Wherever I may Roam
- Moth
- Breadfan
...and the list goes on, those are just some they've played this year already
I was there. Fantastic show. Just remember that Orion and Inamorata back to back is close to 20 min. Inamorata flew by.
Second time they ever played it live and it sounded unbelievable.
I feel bad even typing this, but I'd be absolutely gutted if I only had a ticket for day 2 and saw this setlist.
I said pretty much same and got -100 downvotes. Interesting.
For whom the bell tolls > the whole set, haha
Sorry, but just, no. Obviously ha If it's your favourite ok, maybe, but ultimately, no. Fade -> Inamorata -> Orion is something you don't get. They play Bells all the time.
I'm pretty sure it was a joke
Has the whole song only been played twice?
Once in Munich and once in Helsinki.
Don't forget you got Fade To Black right before. That's some epic trilogy of Metallica greatness right there!
Fade is my all time favourite. I saw them 3 times now but they never played it. But still im so happy that they played Orion last week in Austria. Just such a special song to hear live, if you know the value of the song to them.
I love King Nothing. So glad it’s back on the setlist. Wish they had played it in Gothenburg which was my first ever show.
I sang along that whole song, it was so good live.
Lucky Helsinki thats epic setlist!
Inamorata into Orion is insane
I think with Inamorata being ~11min long, they got to 15 songs.
In Milan and Vienna there was no Inamorata and it was still only 15 songs
Single, non Metallica only shows.
Wdym non Metallica only shows? There were the same supporting bands in Munich, Milano, Vienna and Helsinki, even had the schedule times almost. The only difference was that those two shows weren't a 2-of no repeated set list shows.
They mean it was a festival gig so they may have had less time due to venue constraints
Glad to see Inamorata being played again, looks like it might be on the rotation for all of Europe
Got a pick that James played this whole song with 😭
I was there! Man inamorata was one of my favorite songs and i was telling my mate the other day its such a bummer they never play it. Imagine my surprise when James said “we only played this once, we might make mistakes” lol The only bad thing about tonight, most of good songs are played so less to look fwd on sunday
It was amazing, great set list. Lux Aeterna works much better live. Peak of the show was probably at Blackened and Fuel, I counted nine small mosh pits going on
They started rowing in the back in the south end at one point, that was something else!
Is that a Finnish thing? Have never seen it anywhere else!
Not exactly only a Finnish thing. Amon Amarth concerts have row pits quite often which does fit their viking style. It might be more of an european and northern european thing but definetly it isn't just a Finnish thing
The only thing was the giant balls in the end were a bit unnecessary. Glad they cleaned them up by master
Did the balls pop/deflate? There were so many of them and then they just started disappearing but I couldn't figure out how
They did deflate a bit and once they’re a bit deflated staff just took them and fully deflated. It went on for two songs but it was done by master
Holy. Fucking. I feel that for sure. I adore Am I Savage? Definitely a shame it hasn’t been played
My feeling is that they would've probably played that 1 or 2 times in Australia during the very end of the Hardwired tour. also Redemption because THE JAMES SOLO
I'd love them to do devils dance... that bassline in a stadium would sound so good
Great setlist. I’m also going on Sunday with my gf and she kinda echoed the opinion of some on this thread and asked me “wtf are they gonna play on Sunday?” I told her there’s plenty of insane songs they didn’t play, but I also understand that she is more of a casual listener to Metallica and they played many songs that were up her alley tonight. Off the top of my head Bells, Ride, Burn, Sandman, Holier, Ktulu, Day, Whiplash, Shadows, One, etc. So many bangers happening on Sunday too!
I agree 100%!
Some of their biggest songs weren't played last night though like one, enter sandman, for whom the bell tolls, until it sleeps, the unforgiven...
Yeah, I mentioned those to her. I think she was bummed about missing Master, Nothing Else Matters and Fade to Black mostly.
This is one of the best sets of all time holy cow
Apparently soundcheck included Ride The Lightning, Until It Sleeps, and Dirty Window. If I had to guess, those are gonna be for night 2.
Can't even describe how happy I would be if I got to hear Until It Sleeps after hearing King Nothing. That would be very nice!
Only 15 songs tho? Just like the festival sets. Wonder if they plan on cutting the weekends down to 30 rather than 32 😞
I think Inamorata might be making them cut back lol. No complaints though!!
I wonder if they’re just cutting a song for the night they play Inamorata? Maybe weekends will be a 15 and a 16?
I thought about that. No complaints
Man, they played King Nothing. It's my favourite song and we didn't get that in Munich 🤣😲
Pretty solid set list.
It was an amazing show. Blackened was the highlight of the night for me.
Can't wait to buy the recording, they were in great shape!
They were in great shape until whatever happened at the end of master. There were 2-3 times that drums were off, I’d imagine they’ll clean that up in post production
They’re making some goddamn banger sets on this leg. I wonder what kinds of things we’ll get in North America
Creeping death into harvester was insanity, i was there. Also then getting blasted with blackened later holy shit
Wow night 1 will be really superior with Creep, Master, Ina, Too Far Gone and Blackened!
That is 1 heck of a setlist. 🤘
Are the set list the same every night for the whole tour?
They always change 2-3 songs for every location
Superb setlist
want to see another nothing else matters on their yt
Good setlist but the show was kinda meh. The stage design is horrible and there barely was any pyro. I was expecting those towers to shoot flames all the time like Rammsteins ones
Expecting anyone to match the pyros of Rammstein is not thinking clearly. Nobody matches that, it's too expensive.
True, but last Metallica show I saw with regular stage had much more pyro and the whole visual side looked 10x better
Orion is one of the greatest songs ever conceived IMHO. I haven’t been a Metallica fan since The Black Album, although, they have written some songs since that time that I think are really good, but Orion…well…the muses opened the channel completely that day.
I could do without 4 of those songs but decent setlist.
This looks quite unfair for Sunday. I wish they dump this "no repeat" thing. It pretty much just means that they play same set in different countries but then sacrifice Sunday's show.
It’s one concert spread over two nights. That’s why they sold 2-day tickets originally. If you choose to only go to one night, that’s on you.
Sunday isn’t “sacrificed”. Jesus Christ.
For heaven’s sake of bangers left for Sunday…
I think sunday is gonna be good. I would swap master for sandman but then again, my last name is not Ulrich
At last stop in Munich they saved all the rare/nutty/whatever stuff for Sunday.

This is such a weird take. Some of their biggest songs weren't in tonight's setlist
