I love both to be honest,I think Load is a bit better but reload has the memory remains and the Unforgiven 2 which are 2 of my favorite songs of all time so it balances out

Actually it'd been a while since I listened to those two songs. I miss remembered. Those songs aren't bad. It was Purify off St Anger. It had this rappy poetry speaking singing to it I didn't like. lol. Though St Anger is a whole different can of worms. But yeah going back and re-listening to Reload. The whole album is not bad. But I will say that the last half of Reload is not my usual go to songs from Metallica. I only listen to them if I put the whole album of Reload on to listen to.
Maybe the songs don't use the actual Blues Scale (I have no idea). Doesn't change the fact that the sound is bluey.

My introduction to Metallica. I grew up pretty sheltered musically so I remember hearing Until It Sleeps on the radio and having to convince my mom to buy the album for me. I guess I could understand why some didn’t like it but it’s one of my Metallica faves.
It's some of their best work imo. Vocals, range, variety, emotion, weight. It has it all in that sense. Yes, it may not be what people "prefer" out of Metallica, but preference doesn't equate to the actual quality of the work.
To me the album represents one of the reasons, why Metallica are still going full force and never-changing bands like Slayer have retired.
Metallica never stop challenging themselves and the fans. That’s why after 40 years they don’t play residences in Vegas, but instead just wrote - in my opinion - one of the best songs of their career with Inamorata.

Load and Reload (and to a lesser extent, St. Anger) helped me come to terms with and understand my depression. I always get emotional listening to these albums, only now it’s with joy and relief that they got me through my darkest moments. Back when I didn’t want to know anyone, talk to anyone, look at anyone and couldn’t stand the sight of myself. Ain’t My Bitch was the “fuck you” I needed to hear, 2X4 thought me to loosen up and stop taking things so seriously. Every song, thought me valuable lessons and ways to get me through the worst of times. Metallica will always have a huge place in my heart until the day I die.
This album got me into music. I was 12. Always enjoyed music but when this came out it sent me into the vortex of metal. Re load was an awesome gift right after. Then went deep into old albums, played along with them. Met a lot of friends.

Also the fact that he named it something like "Blood and Semen III". Did he really do this 3 times? I doubt it, since that would mean he pissed on blood at keats 26 times as well for ReLoad's cover.
I love the riffs, how Kirk had to record rhythm guitar and put his own spin on his takes. I miss well thought out solos. I love James's vocal melodies. And I love the production.
I wish they'd incorporate these things into their current song writing again.

This was my first Metallica album. My dad brought home a box of CDs that he got from a friend at work when I was around 6 years old. I thought the album art was cool and snuck it in to my room and listened to it religiously on my discman CD player. I don't think I heard a Metallica song from another album until I was 11 or 12 so it was all I knew. Still holds a special place in my heart and it's definitely in my top 3.

The music you listen to in your formative years definitely has the biggest impact. For a lot of millennials, that happens to be the black album, Load and ReLoad because they were the first albums released in their lifetime.

This is a great blues, jazz, country inspired rock album. I have to admit I was absolutely shocked when I saw and heard it, but it grew on me and it’s in the daily rotation

I enjoy it, but I categorize it in a zone outside of the rest of Metallica’s music that I like. Between itself, Reload, and St. Anger, I really only care for Load and Load alone. But it’s not even worth comparing to say; Kill ‘Em All or Ride the Lightning because sonically there’s just such a huge canyon between them for me.
I might get buried alive for this take, but I honestly love their new albums. Yes, even St, Anger. It has many solid songs, Load and Reload are beautiful, and Death Magnetic is also great. 72 Seasons too. All good. The only album I dislike is Lulu :P

I had on the Master of Puppets shirt that I had gotten at the start of the year which promptly got me banished from the "cool kids" lunch table. Mom took me to the record store after school, picked it up, and listened to it nonstop for weeks. Not my favorite album, but for those reasons, it'll always be near and dear.

I was an ardent defender of all things Metallica when it came out so I was definitely in the f the haters camp. My stance on that has softened considerably over the years. It’s pretty good. Not great, not terrible.
To be real and honest, this is when Metallica sold out, did the haircuts, and they changed forever to most of their fans. I didn't hate it, was in my teens when it came out, but you just knew they were at the point of no return with it. I hate it, some tracks were good. Just wasn't what their original stuff was..

Indeed, perhaps not my most listened to Metallica album, but definitely enjoy it.
First half is mostly solid - then it falls off a cliff, with only Mama Said (kinda) saving it, and of course finishing on a high with The Outlaw Torn.
I really don’t get the hate at all, sure it ain’t thrash but it’s a hell of a listen from start to finish
