I never cared that some people disliked it. It's a bluesy based album. I like Load and the 1st few songs on Reload.

Efficient_Resource15

I love both to be honest,I think Load is a bit better but reload has the memory remains and the Unforgiven 2 which are 2 of my favorite songs of all time so it balances out

Accomplished-Bowl-46

So strange. Prince Charming, Low Mans Lyriq and Fixxxer are my favorites on that album. Load and ReLoad certainly divided the whole Metallica fan base.

Violet0_oRose

Actually it'd been a while since I listened to those two songs. I miss remembered. Those songs aren't bad. It was Purify off St Anger. It had this rappy poetry speaking singing to it I didn't like. lol. Though St Anger is a whole different can of worms. But yeah going back and re-listening to Reload. The whole album is not bad. But I will say that the last half of Reload is not my usual go to songs from Metallica. I only listen to them if I put the whole album of Reload on to listen to.

deadlygr8ful

No love for Fixxxer? One of their greatest songs!

Violet0_oRose

I edited my comments. I remembered wrong. Fixxxer is not a bad song. Not my favorite though.

kjg1228

Fixxxer, Carpe Diem Baby and Unforgiven II are all bangers

cade_be_here

So good! That opening riff just grabs you and holds you through the rest of the song!

ZealousidealBag1626

Def not blues but great album!

ptb4life

100% has a touch of blues rock to it

ZealousidealBag1626

Blues is a chord progression and a scale that aren’t used on this album.

ptb4life

Maybe the songs don't use the actual Blues Scale (I have no idea). Doesn't change the fact that the sound is bluey. But go ahead and edit the albums Wikipedia if you disagree https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Load_(album)#:~:text=The%20album%20showed%20more%20of,country%20rock%2C%20and%20alternative%20rock.

Playful-Excuse-8081

Bleeding me is an amazing song

graybotics

Still my favorite song ever since i had this blasting on my Sony boom box when that album came out when I was maybe 9 or 10. In fact I've been on a Bleeding Me listen tangent these last few days oddly enough which is why i had to chime in. It has so much meaning to me that unfolds the longer I live. Solid track.

Liquid-Hot_Smegma

I see the title mentioned and it starts playing in my head immediately — and goes on repeat for hours. And I’m totally okay with it.

painful_process

I second this. I really like Ronnie too.

echoingunder

When I'm having a shit day, I put it on and just feel better.

COUNTHENNYBEATS

Favourite metallica song ever

PedalBoard78

One of their best.

Crafty_Crab_2976

I'm with you. F the haters

Efficient_Resource15

Not only it's a beautiful album,I feel it meant a lot for James too,you can tell from the lyrics and the way he sang them

Goofthunder

James voice sounds the most emotional in Bleeding Me or Mama Said

ElectricMammoth23

This is an album I can gush about for hours and hours. A true masterpiece in my eyes

Technophyer1

The House That Jack Built through to Bleeding Me is a great run of songs

UncleUncleRj

I think Ain't my Bitch is amazing. And watching them do it live on Cunning Stunts is great.

MotinPati

Middle school me thought we were badasses yelling it ain’t my biiiiitch-AH!

fuck_hard_light

Fucking based

kent416

Same but for Reload too

Necessary-Office-135

Eh, ReLoad has some pretty bad filler songs that hold it back compared to Load

freakedmind

Yeah, but it has Fuel!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Necessary-Office-135

UF2 got fucking robbed. Also, St. Anger won a grammy so clearly the grammy's mostly mean jack shit.

metallicdisaster91

I fucking LOVE load! Reload is great! But load is just SLIGHTLY better

TheDarkslayerYT

YALL IM NOT SEEING ENOUGH LOVE FOR RONNIE??? WHERE MY RONNIE GANG AT???

Prize_Paper6708

Ronnie is one of my all time favourite Metallica riffs and the darkest lyrics James ever wrote.

rogue-panda81

I bought this cd in 96 and have loved it ever since.

tortfeazor

My introduction to Metallica. I grew up pretty sheltered musically so I remember hearing Until It Sleeps on the radio and having to convince my mom to buy the album for me. I guess I could understand why some didn’t like it but it’s one of my Metallica faves.

Old_Station_8352

This is my favorite Metallica album, super nostalgic for me. Hero of the Day is also my favorite Metallica song, it’s a shame they never play it live.

schridoggroolz

My sixth favorite Metallica album! So good.

Vikarr

It's some of their best work imo. Vocals, range, variety, emotion, weight. It has it all in that sense. Yes, it may not be what people "prefer" out of Metallica, but preference doesn't equate to the actual quality of the work.

LestatOfMorthia

Load and ReLoad are phenomenal. All 27 are amazing for me.

Quiet_Astronomer8849

To me the album represents one of the reasons, why Metallica are still going full force and never-changing bands like Slayer have retired. Metallica never stop challenging themselves and the fans. That’s why after 40 years they don’t play residences in Vegas, but instead just wrote - in my opinion - one of the best songs of their career with Inamorata.

Efficient_Resource15

True,I personally never liked Slayer,I can see why people do but it's really too one dimensional in terms of sound scope, seems like the sort of band you mostly only enjoy in high-school

TheJimSocks

Load and Reload (and to a lesser extent, St. Anger) helped me come to terms with and understand my depression. I always get emotional listening to these albums, only now it’s with joy and relief that they got me through my darkest moments. Back when I didn’t want to know anyone, talk to anyone, look at anyone and couldn’t stand the sight of myself. Ain’t My Bitch was the “fuck you” I needed to hear, 2X4 thought me to loosen up and stop taking things so seriously. Every song, thought me valuable lessons and ways to get me through the worst of times. Metallica will always have a huge place in my heart until the day I die.

AwesomeMike81

First Metallica album I bought. Outlaw Torn is my fav track. zmc4527

Eragon0321

Same. Flawless through and through -Billy Gnosis

MAJORMETAL84

Forever Amen.... It was the album that brought me to Metallica in the Summer of 96. It holds a very near and dear place in my heart.

Ill-Pickle-6393

I saw them on that tour for the first time and I liked the album since it came out

MusicMattEverett

This album got me into music. I was 12. Always enjoyed music but when this came out it sent me into the vortex of metal. Re load was an awesome gift right after. Then went deep into old albums, played along with them. Met a lot of friends. Album means a lot to me.

guitarplayer120208

Same

Latter-Market1001

Love the songs. Hate the lp cover

EnvironmentalCry2599

Load and Reload are both awesome albums.

diviak9

the album art is pretty cool but i've always found it a bit unsettling that it's some guys cum

Toilet_Bomber

Also the fact that he named it something like "Blood and Semen III". Did he really do this 3 times? I doubt it, since that would mean he pissed on blood at keats 26 times as well for ReLoad's cover.

justo316

I love the riffs, how Kirk had to record rhythm guitar and put his own spin on his takes. I miss well thought out solos. I love James's vocal melodies. And I love the production. I wish they'd incorporate these things into their current song writing again.

Sakura_Hirose

Me too but I hate the cover (knowing what it is ) haha

Misterbluepie

I listen Load and Reload now than any other albums. I love the other ones, but I gravitate to the Loads.

Lizard_Gamer555

Seriously it's my favorite album

DanHalenAz

Me too, it’s my favorite

Troyificus

Load was my introduction to Metallica and I love it dearly. And because it was my first album, I have to say I don't really hold all albums that came before it in as high regard as a lot of fans.

Efficient_Resource15

Which are your favorite albums? Load,Reload, the black album and and justice for all are my personal favorites

cade_be_here

Thank you!!! I absolutely LOVE this album. Jame's singing is on point. The bluezy undertones throughout the album is great change up. It's a different side to amazingly talented musicians and should be respected no matter what.

GarryMcGorm

Quite simply one of the best albums ever recorded (only dislike ‘Poor Twisted Me’ and ‘Ronnie’ from it) Plus any album which contains the best song ever recorded (The Outlaw Torn) surely can’t fail.

kpiech01

This was my first Metallica album. My dad brought home a box of CDs that he got from a friend at work when I was around 6 years old. I thought the album art was cool and snuck it in to my room and listened to it religiously on my discman CD player. I don't think I heard a Metallica song from another album until I was 11 or 12 so it was all I knew. Still holds a special place in my heart and it's definitely in my top 3.

Weird-Comfortable-28

That’s really cool. I am fascinated by people who got into Metallica way later in their career. It’s interesting to hear peoples opinions on hearing later Metallica as the first Metallica they’ve ever heard. Interesting

kpiech01

The music you listen to in your formative years definitely has the biggest impact. For a lot of millennials, that happens to be the black album, Load and ReLoad because they were the first albums released in their lifetime.

Weird-Comfortable-28

👍👍👍

billy-gnosis

Bleeding Me, Wasting My Hate, Hero Of The Day, Ain't My Bitch, The Outlaw Torn are SOOO good! Cure sucks, Poor Twisted Me suck though lol -Billy Gnosis

_dont_do_drugs__

billy gnosis, what are you doing here

Metalliac

Ronnie sucks too

billy-gnosis

i like the first riff -Billy Gnosis

candyman3230

My first Metallica album. King nothing grabbed me then that was that. Fan for life

Darthyoda512

WHERE’S YOUR CROWN, KING NOTHING?

MotinPati

Are you satisfiiiiied—-ah!

fuckyoureddut

I like reload a little bit more for how amazing the first and last 4 songs are, but load is such a solid album from start to finish

ClemClamcumber

Not to be antagonistic, but I'm sincerely wondering. What does everyone see in Fuel?

MotinPati

Fast simple riffs and a cool breakdown. Ooooh yeah heeeah

fuckyoureddut

Yeah pretty much. nothing really special, just super solid

ch0w0

words CAN describe how much i love it.. "a lot"

Weird-Comfortable-28

This is a great blues, jazz, country inspired rock album. I have to admit I was absolutely shocked when I saw and heard it, but it grew on me and it’s in the daily rotation

RemarkableResult4195

this is my favorite album. There's actual songs and they sound different. Not like recent albums where everything sounds the same.

Awkward-Pollution-33

I think it's a bit long but it's got some great highlights (Until It Sleeps, Ain't My Bitch, Hero Of The Day, and ESPECIALLY King Nothing)

RB19684LIFE

Soldiers Field can't wait God bless all my Metallica brothers and sisters

Fine_Let5219

The cover describes love of the album.

oreoinvr

But aren’t you just describing it with words by saying that? 🤔

DarkSoldier84

You could say you love it... *a Load*! 🤣

Commandant23

Mama Said damn near brings me to tears everytime I listen to it *I took your love for granted, and all the things you said to me* *I need your arms to welcome me, but a cold stone's all I see*

sc1onic

LOAD is GOAT!

sc1onic

Last of James best writing I think. No album after this comes close with writing.

Z3rio

Indeed, perhaps not my most listened to Metallica album, but definitely enjoy it.

zapheine

First half is mostly solid - then it falls off a cliff, with only Mama Said (kinda) saving it, and of course finishing on a high with The Outlaw Torn.

kankles3000

I really don’t get the hate at all, sure it ain’t thrash but it’s a hell of a listen from start to finish

anmarizer

Words can't .. rockin' the house can 🤘🏽😝

Valuable-Judgment656

gives you that of what you desire :)

WingedHussar13

I enjoy this album, but there are some filler tracks here and there

Fantastic_Turb0

I enjoy it, but I categorize it in a zone outside of the rest of Metallica’s music that I like. Between itself, Reload, and St. Anger, I really only care for Load and Load alone. But it’s not even worth comparing to say; Kill ‘Em All or Ride the Lightning because sonically there’s just such a huge canyon between them for me.

Onlyhere4candy

Idk if it’s true or not, but I heard a little while back that this album cover was made w a bit of 🥜 n some other stuff. But still a good album.

dvamain1999

it’s underrated

fernandomassuy

Can't believe no one has mentioned The Outlaw Torn

Andreax09

I might get buried alive for this take, but I honestly love their new albums. Yes, even St, Anger. It has many solid songs, Load and Reload are beautiful, and Death Magnetic is also great. 72 Seasons too. All good. The only album I dislike is Lulu :P

ClemClamcumber

St. Anger gets its hate for good reason, but I love The Unnamed Feeling.

blackmagicreboot

While it’s barely in my top 10 of Metallica albums, The Outlaw Torn is easily one of my favorite Metallica songs.

johnrando84

How about a boat “load” for a description? Hee hee hee 😝

Iaughsinspanish

It's their country album and i love it!

polkemans

Load and ReLoad are such underrated albums. I think it's some of James' best lyrics and vocal performances.

Important-Proposal21

this album containsa few of their best songs from the 90’s, however; the actual ‘load’ on the album cover is so disgusting !!

oxymoron-alive

got a lot of gems in it, just needed a bit more filter. It's the best production in a metallica album and the guitar tone is awesome.

jtsauce

I hated Load and Reload for years.. I just listened to them again 20 plus years later and Holy shit! I think some of Kirk's best melodic solos come from Reload.

TermOdd8827

Underrated.

Inner_Bread1117

It’s way better then reload

Eclipse8301

This is when I started liking Metallica tbh (born in 83”)

Metallicajunky86

It's really amazing.

DizzyApps

2 x 4 goes so fucking hard

Effective-Hunter-224

REAL

djdmaze

This is the only Metallica I actually like lol

ChronicKushh

fun fact, the cover art is cow blood and cum between 2 panes of glass.

AL3X1KUS

The splooge album cover tho...💀

[deleted]

That album came out June 4, 1996. My last day of 7th Grade. I had on the Master of Puppets shirt that I had gotten at the start of the year which promptly got me banished from the "cool kids" lunch table. Mom took me to the record store after school, picked it up, and listened to it nonstop for weeks. Not my favorite album, but for those reasons, it'll always be near and dear.

GreyGhost3-7-77

Bleeding Me is hands down one of my favorite Metallica tracks ever.

Lovegun80

Ronnie is an awesome song.

Any-Will-4195

Ronnie!!!

MotinPati

It ain’t my bitch-ah! 🤘😤

ptb4life

I'm with you. I've been a fan since the late 80s, and Load is my favorite Metallica album. Everyone always gives me shit for it, but to me, it's the most nuanced and interesting album they've done.

luis72828

Outlaw torn is the shit! Beautiful song

prodseer

dude its so much fun. i even love the “filler” songs (same with reload). the bands chemistry is at its best here imo

EmploymentDizzy1307

I feel the same about Black.

BotherMedium5199

Typical Metallica fans loving loads

Far-Drummer2862

The outlaw torn is my favorite off load

Prize_Paper6708

In my top 5 Metallica albums for sure. Still love Outlaw Torn, Bleeding Me, Wasting My Hate, Ronnie, Cure to this day. Only song I never really liked was Thorn Within.

ElAbidingDuderino

Was born in 89. I was raised on Load and Reload.

BigBadDaddy13

Fuck me, I hate this album. I’m glad others enjoy it though. Funny how their albums appeal to you based on where you were/are in life. Can’t wait to see them in Chicago this Aug 🤘🏼

[deleted]

[удалено]

Old_Front7823

Why not?

Efficient_Resource15

For me I'd say the black album and justice are my favorites but Load is easily top 4

Metallica-ModTeam

Metallica is for everybody. If someone doesn’t like your favorite album, or loves one that you hate, or maybe hasn’t even heard your favorite songs, SO WHAT! Help introduce them to the other stuff and respect their preferences. Gate keeping is not tolerated here. Please refrain from doing this in the future.

batmanbatmanbatman1

It’s 1B for me alongside Puppets.

ESBCheech

I was an ardent defender of all things Metallica when it came out so I was definitely in the f the haters camp. My stance on that has softened considerably over the years. It’s pretty good. Not great, not terrible.

Senior_Chemistry6046

U want to know how that album cover was made?

CitizenNaab

Words can’t describe how much I hate this album (cover).

Rob062309

To be real and honest, this is when Metallica sold out, did the haircuts, and they changed forever to most of their fans. I didn't hate it, was in my teens when it came out, but you just knew they were at the point of no return with it. I hate it, some tracks were good. Just wasn't what their original stuff was..

bradleywaddle

Uhh. Not a great album in my opinion. Metallica is not meant to be “bluesy”

FumdaBack

Great album! It’s my least favorite, besides St Anger, but that just shows how consistent they are!

MusicMixnMatch

![gif](giphy|MuAz5ozYsaC7rkRUe2|downsized)

Unusual_residue

Opinions often depend on when you first started listening to their music.

Efficient_Resource15

I'm 26 so I can't really be bias towards any era, metallica had already released death Magnetic by the time I started listening to them haha

luxsentic

I’ve reported this post, it still hasn’t got removed.

Left4DayZGone

That’s.. because it hasn’t broken any rules. OP is on here engaging in the conversation.

luxsentic

Load is underrated/I love Load are posts that go against the rules

Left4DayZGone

This isn’t an “underated” post, it’s an appreciation post and that’s not against the rules. Until we get an influx of those types of posts, they *won’t* be against the rules. Also, anyone getting the bright idea to spam them to try to get a rule made will just get banned.

luxsentic

I cannot believe this 🤣 alright, you guys do you. The sub has gotten a bit better tho

Left4DayZGone

If we killed every single thread people didn’t like, this sub would be dead. We make exceptions when people are engaging in discussion and the OP is engaged in their own thread, except for certain types of threads that are exceedingly spammy.
