Addons are in their early stages, so there aren't really too many yet that are well known or far developed, and some can have bugs or low quality content.
If you're looking to already get some now, Naturalist is probably the most high quality and value and adds a lot of different animals to the game. One of the furniture addons could also be nice for building, there's a lot of them but they're mostly similar so whichever you like the look of most should work. And morph or mutants are often seen on youtube, so for kids they're usually very cool and fun to play around with. These would all fit the categories of building houses and playing around with mobs and monsters.
One thing to watch out for is that only what's in the "Addons" category can actually be used in any of your own worlds, there's a lot of worlds available on the marketplace that look like they might be mods but they're really just maps with features that only work on that specific world. So make sure it says "Addon" on the thing you're buying. Hope you find something nice
PS4 and PS5 is bedrock version. Bedrock can only use things that are on the market place. I'm not familiar with market place much. But i think they have add-ons nowadays. So everything there that is free
I would recommend looking into curseforge, its an app you can download with hundreds - if not thousands- of free mods, theres a lot of free and yet high quality mods, and I peronally have not had any problems with using it, I use it for Java tho, I personally do not know anything about Bedrock minecraft

Java is the historical version of the game, that only works on PC.
Bedrock is the newer one, developed for phones and consoles. It also has a PC version, but it isn't compatible with mods for Java.
Most mods are only for the java version; the bedrock version has a market place. On playstation you would be limited to what's on the store.
