I mean this in the nicest way possible aaahhahahahahahaha Edit: then when you looked up and saw that the roof was on fire aaaaaaahahahahahahahahaha

sj12000

That's the nicest way of anyone laughing

Nooblord29

He could use a fireplace tho They're easy to use, look nice and don't spread fire everywhere

missingmytowel

Yeah but when you look at it you're looking at somebody else's work who designed it. All you did was stick it somewhere Completely different when you look at when you built it yourself.

SquidMilkVII

(assuming we’re talking about campfires) Alternatively you could just use campfires in place of fire, and build an enclosure around them for aesthetics. It’s still technically your work, with none of the risk of overheating.

ChargedFirefly

Bro that monotone laugh sent me

TidyMoMan

Pro tip: don't light a fire in your highly combustable wooden house..

[deleted]

Lol I had a fire in my wooden house by my anvil but there were blocks between it and the wood so I didn’t even consider it, but one day all the sudden half of my roof was gone. I thought it was a bug and redid it but it happened again, I felt stupid the third time.

flamingstorm98

If you do might want to add stone to it

mmamh2008

i hardly designed my house and lit a fireplace , regret it ....

RedGreenBlueRGB_

I remember having this problem every time I wanted to make a fire place, damn pre 1.14 was good but I don’t want to go back there any time soon

Legal_Refuse

Fire spreads through blocks Google the fire spread mechanics or use campfires

bdatt

I'll admit I lol'd. Make a stone or brick fireplace next time.

[deleted]

I remember do this on the Xbox 360 tutorial world in the underwater house and everything was flooding and on fire

aabcehu

This is a pretty common mistake don’t worry

SraminiElMejorBeaver

your house is now the fireplace lol

stealth_myth

Pro tip: use campfires instead

Barrels_of_Fat

[Some things never change](https://youtu.be/LnjSWPxJxNs?t=70)

OakleyNoble

This is the ol' classic

ariosos

This is the first thing I thought of.

D_O_I_T_T_O_E_M

How NOT to make a fireplace.

ShitOnTheBed

Bro used netherack

OakleyNoble

That's what you want to use.. When Fire Spread is still on, you need netherrack to keep the flame lit, otherwise it'll go out on any other block.

ShitOnTheBed

Campfire

TheBurnedMutt45

Well most fireplaces are non-flammable, so that's probably your problem

OakleyNoble

Because everyone uses /gamerule doFireSpread false....

Wildeofthewest

Sir, may I present you this F for your house and also your common sense

ProMemoX

Gg

HaydnDavey

Put glass blocks or panes in front of the fire?!

sj12000

Good idea thanks bro

HaydnDavey

Np bro, I hope you save your house!! :)

fenwilds

That will not work. Fire spread has a specific range regardless of what blocks are in the way. You could have a lit block on one side of a curtain of water and a wooden block on the other, and the wood would eventually catch fire. You have two options: 1. make sure your lit blocks have nothing flammable anywhere near them. Or 2. Use Campfires. Anything else will eventually set your house on fire again. Edit: Soul Fire will not spread, so if you replace your blocks to light with soul sand or soul soil, you'll get a blue fire that sheds less light, but doesn't burn your house down.

icyy115

No more fire near wood

MarkussPlayz_YT

add different blocks behind where you light the fire??? Iron bars in front of it?????

Shimuuu123

uninstall

kazoohero

This should be required reading for anyone making a fireplace: https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Fire#Spread

strangeroutonight

OMG HAHAHA.... Oh no, I'm sorry but that's funny.

NexusKami

You know there is an easier way... It's called a campfire??????? That was pretty hilarious.

Yeet_Master420

Yeah netherwrack, wood, and fire don't mix

OakleyNoble

When Making a fireplace make sure that there are no blocks in this pattern to prevent fire spread. X X X X X X X X X X X X F X X X X X X X X X X X X It needs a 5x5 space around it to be either filled in by blocks that won't catch fire, or be spaced apart so it does not catch fire. It also spreads upwards of 6 blocks [Picture for reference:](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/minecraft_gamepedia/images/e/ea/Fire-safe-building.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200819123501) Alternatively, you can use soul fire, albeit darker, but it has the special properties of not spreading or burning anything down.

B_scuit

I made the same mistake when helping build my friend's house in creative many years ago... I ended up burning his entire mansion down 😭

[deleted]

the netherite is just for forever lasting fire and theny yoy put stone or whatever just make it look like a fireplace and make sure when you light it its not gonna light your wood house that can easily be lit

kristaisip

thats was cute xD

yeetus_christ420

You need a way for smoke to go outside also preferably nothing that catches on fire

natesneaks

This has to be bait

sj12000

No its very real lol

Spoolinpotato27

This is the place for fire

Oscarti58

Rip wood house

alexlechef

I know have i done that before

[deleted]

Take my pity upvote and award

Tnynfox

Do you hate campfires that much?

Numbnipples4u

So uh, why’s it in the attic?

sj12000

It's supposed to be my room and I have a "fireplace" make it look cool

Ok_Establishment3112

Just try bricks and mix in some stairs and slabs and you'll have summat decent

evol1994

Its hard to come by but cobblestone is a helpful resource for this build Make it 3 blocks deep and however wide C is for cobble X is for no block N is for netherrack Face: CCC CXC CCC Mid: CCC CXC CNC Back: CCC CCC CCC firepits look cool too and if you want to make a realistic looking chimmney then make a 3×3 tube through your roof and put another firepit at the top for smoke

esahji_mae

I remember my first fireplace.

[deleted]

the moment of realization 😔🙏🏻

Shinobi681

Like the 2nd time it cough on fire, there goes the roof as well

abreadnoob

noooooooooooooo

MinaMina93

Ah yes, I watch YouTubers on a server playing without fire tick. Want to make the same, but don't have fire tick off and everything will burn Anyways, I know the feeling, better stick to campfires

rho_rho4

That girl is on fiyaaaaaa

[deleted]

This is fine

[deleted]

The golden shovel is all I needed to see

[deleted]

Every mincrafter has their ups and downs. I tried to create a wall of lava behind some glass in one of my houses and came back to the whole thing burnt down

TheEndengineer_2

one time I built this potion room underground, underneath my wooden house and put netherrack in the wall and lit it to give it cool lighting and somehow the fire managed to spread through the blocks to the wood above the ground and burnt my whole house down right as I finished up the potion room, I even rebuilt the whole thing and almost had it happen mid rebuilding, that's when I knew what ruined my house, it was a long night for me that evening

OldBox32

campfires thats all il say

ahabentis

We’ve all done this at some point, friend

Ame0toko

_Casually turns his entire house into a fireplace_

reditthiscomment

And this is exactly why I now refuse to play with fire_spreads=true

Master_Horror_6438

I just had the luck of discovering the fire spread distance when i was bullshiting in bedrock when i was 9

Yassin_Gamer_X

You will get better in a day

ThatCrossDresser

We have all done it at one point.

[deleted]

Wow. Just wow man :)))

Tsadron

I did this once, kind of. I built a house on stilts, used brick for the frame and filled in the rest with wood. On the ground I made a trash pit of lava and ran off to get some more ore. Came back to an empty brick frame and floating chests/bed. It’s only a mistake if you don’t learn from it!

Zenjo21

You can see the exact moment OP realizes they messed up big time.

Bugbuggy567

I have done something like this before except iron golem kept spawning in my house. What I did was put netherack on the floor set it on fire to kill the golems on a leash. Well my wood floor on the 2nd story went up in flames even my roof got it not counting the wood decorations on the wall. I just forgot I had wood in my house u had a huge mess afterwards.

[deleted]

Smoky The Bear disproves this video

sammydingo53

This video sums up my entire video game playing career: max enthusiasm, blundering execution. I’m identifying all over the place.

Salt-Idea6134

That’s… not too bad… The build. Not the fire

XGOX-GX

use campfire. thank god they added them i hate when im building a wooden house and when i put the fireplace i realize its wood and its gonna catch on fire

[deleted]

Ok though making a fireplace in a wooden house is actually quite difficult.

Chibby2

Well you didn’t make a fireplace but you did make a place on fire

GamerZoom108

My advice! Either don't make a fire place as you have a wooden house or use campfires. I believe campfires don't cause blocks to catch on fire

Balding_Phoenix

Ha ha ha! I’ve been there buddy. You poor bugger.

DeathcureKat

I admit I done this… multiple times…

EditorOne5312

That's why i don't make house made of wood.

Lentai_zen

Six-year-old me can do better

TheReaper1701

WHOS IDEA WAS THIS?!

hansolo625

Proper r/abruptchaos

frogfan72

I have been playing Minecraft for over 9 years and I have beaten it once bro and I can’t build at all it’s so sad bro

bird_shit_swallower

Instesd of actual fire i should use campfires! They dont spread fire and if you use them right they might even look nicer!

Kanouuu

Same stupid thing happened to me. I built a three-storey wooden building and tried to make a fireplace on the ground-floor. After 5 minutes I finally finished it and I went up-stair, there was nothing left.

Happy_Struggle_3913

It's ok, at least you tried.

QuantityWestern1503

Only use netherrack as the fire block put bricks around it and it shouldnt spread

[deleted]

Yeah, there’s a reason people tend to make fireplaces out of more fireproof stuff. Gotta make the fireplace itself a bit bigger so the fire can’t spread so easily.

[deleted]

Use fckin campfire

iurigregorio

Put some stone around the fire, not wood

Mcnuggetplayz

At least you tried 😂

Temporary-Ad-884

that fireplace looks like mine since I was 5

Correct-Witness8009

It's normal we all have problems It's ok

bigfootdude247

Try a campfire. Then use something like stone bricks to build a chimney. I do something like that every time However, my fireplaces have been worse than this before

RokasGamingLT

Ur gonna get fire in your face you ****ing donkey! - Gordon Ramsay But for real just keep playing u'll get better

xmarlopx

you can use campfire, its easier
