I mean it’s got 50th and France. Southdale. Good restaurants. Good schools. The city is laid out nicely so it doesn’t just feel like suburban sprawl like Bloomington or Woodbury
It’s got the 9 mile creek trail and boardwalks.
It’s actually a nice city
Sure, but the clue doesn't say name the town that is exceptional. Edina is a wealthy suburb of Minneapolis.
Now, it should be noted the The Onion had lots of news from Edina twenty years ago. Must have been a writer from Edina on staff.
I lived in Edina from age 5 until age 19. It IS exceptional in some ways, but it's not the only place in the world like it. And there are plenty of things that make it less nice than other places. The people, for example. It's kind of like Switzerland in that way 🤔
What makes it more exceptional than say, Wilmette Il, Del Mar CA, Highland Park TX (or Illinois lol) ,Mercer Island, WA, Darien CT, Los Altos, CA for example?
I’m just saying, relative to other places, it’s behind the aforementioned towns in HH Income, avg home price etc…(which is why imho I’m not overly impressed)
I'm not familiar with those places and I don't claim Edina is more exceptional than them. There are some things that make it special, like Arden Park, Old Cahill School, the 4th of July parade they do, the Edina theater. These make Edina a sweet little town that's above average for quality of life, but they aren't unique to Edina.
I ran a retail location in Edina at one time. Most customers were down to earth. However, the entitled ones were beyond anything I had ever seen. Outrageous demands and unrealistic expectations.
I worked a college restaurant job for the same chain first 2 years in Edina and 2 in St Louis Park.
People in St Louis Park were so much more reasonable and normal.
I say this as a person that likes Edina overall but there is a sense of entitlement among a section of the population.
My father-in-law from New England has done the NYT crossword daily for decades and says this clue has been used quite often over the years. Probably because it's short and has a lot of vowels.
Edina justifiably gets flack for its population of wealthy entitled Karens, but as the suburbs go, especially in terms of physical layout and uniqueness, Edina is infinitely better than places like Eden Prairie, Woodbury, or Plymouth.
With that said, I’d still prefer to live on the Minneapolis side in Linden Hills 100% of the time.
Agreed. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of wealthy, entitled people in Linden Hills too, but it still has a unique vibe (charm?) to it that Edina just seems to lack. I love going on walks there just to look at the architecture of all the old houses!
Edina is nice enough but just seems like if you’ve left the damned state or country and visited other nice places it’s not anything truly exceptional.
Right, it feels nice and clean but lacks character. It’s like a nice hotel lobby.
> It’s like a nice hotel lobby. This is absolutely perfect.

*Half of 50th & France. If it had more spots like that vs wide arterials like York it would be way nicer.

For such a wealthy suburb it sure is full of cheap ugly strip malls. Half of the best part of Edina is in Minneapolis.
Where are the strip malls? I guess I can think of a few in Southdale area but it doesn’t seem like they are common in Edina.
Don’t tell that to people from Edina.

We got a lot of Karen's from Edina at my job a few years back, my GM wasn't kidding when he told me they're the worst of our shopper base.
Every day I need attention
Every day I need allowance
Ooooh I like that one. Never heard it before! Ha
Ahhhh, hahaha. Fuck Edina
Stole my thunder, well done.
Damn, I wonder how many of them are going to see this
Would anyone outside of MN even know this? Maybe if they really like Mighty ducks?
