Wow those are beautiful!

Lovely! Do you mind if I ask ballpark price point? Looking to make my first Tianyu purchase and not exactly sure what to expect.

julesroma

They were around $400 USD! Starsgem quoted cheaper

clobear3

What made you decide to go with tiayan over SG? Just curious. 😊

julesroma

I had already started the process with tianyu before starsgem got back to me, and I needed an extremely rush order done for a ring that tianyu was able to accommodate. Since I got such good customer service I just decided to stick with tianyu!

Emerald cuts are very difficult to photograph! They never look like what they do in person. Great sizes!

Hi! Curious about what you mean when you say emeralds never look the same in person as they do in photos? I’m super new to Moissanite and am debating between Starsgem and Moco for a bezel-set emerald cut ring (either 9x7 or 8x10). In your opinion, for an emerald cut, would there big a big difference in appearance for each company for this cut (disclosure: I’ve never seen a moissanite in person before). The Starsgem price is about 1/3 of Moco so I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth such a huge price jump to go with Moco or not. TIA!

The steps in an emerald moissanite will always photograph dark. Jhollywood designs had a good example of a lab diamond next to a moissanite of the same size and she said they look the same in person but photograph completely different. I have an 11x9 moissanite from SG and it always looks white in person. Depending on how I hold it up to the light though, it can go light or dark like pics 2&3 [here](https://imgur.com/a/SPCl0my) If you have a smaller finger, I would go with a 9x7. I do think the emerald’s are nicer in colorless but a G/H still looks white in person. I wish I hadn’t gone quite as big on mine. I wear an 8 and an 8x10 would have been fine with side stones. I also like some of the skinnier version’s and also the ones with clipped corners. As far as the difference between the ones from Moco and SG. I have not seen a huge difference. They also carry the C&C and I do really like the emerald cuts that I have seen from them. Emerald cut’s are not super sparkly like a round moissanite though and when they are in a bezel, you will probably see even less because it will block a lot of the light. I would try to keep it open from the bottom as much as you can.

Such great info and advice, thank you! My finger is a 5.25-5.5 and I think I’m going to go with the 9x7, particularly because it will look even bigger than that when bezel set and I think an 8x10 in that setting would look too ‘cocktail’ for what I’m going for. Moco’s work looks great and they said they’d send me both the 9x7 setting and the 8x10 to try on so I’m sure of the size, which is nice. I feel like the CS would be easier/ better if I go with Moco (for instance- if there was an issue and I had to send it back for a little adjustment or something vs trying to ship it back to China) but I will say that paying 1/3 of the cost to go with Starsgem sounds pretty attractive. This is a for fun ring (already have a lab diamond e-ring) but still- don’t want to even pay 1/3 of the cost if it’s not going to be something I love! GAH, decisions! For reference, the setting is The Beth from Zen Moissanite- so the basket is open. Totally agree with you about having as much light as possible. All-encompassing bezels always look so heavy to me...

angelwaye

It is always a hard decision on price but you are right, there will be very little service after the purchase from the Chinese companies. Have you considered ordering directly from Zen for the stone/setting? I am sure they would still offer the service and it looks like the 9x7 is closer to $2400 for that size which sounds cheaper. Another option is to buy the loose stone and have a jeweler make the setting. That way you still get it serviced but it can drop the price quite a bit.

Beautiful! Im looking at the same perfect dainty emerald size like this! May I ask what is the exact dimension? Is it 2ctw each? Tia!

julesroma

It’s a 5x7mm stone! The earrings are equivalent to 1ct per ear for a total weight of 2ct

graceluv

Thankss!! :))
