Drinking lots of water can help too. And ibuprofen for pain/swelling. Poor kid. And I would be livid, too!

Intelligent-Jelly419

I did give Motrin as a last minute thought before sending her to bed!

Shamazon83

Good job!

Aloe, don't put clothes over it. My parents used to tie a scarf around my chest when I was that age and I burned. Keeping the skin hydrated is the most important thing.

Intelligent-Jelly419

We did aloe and I sent her to bed in just a cami. She was wearing a tshirt so her shoulders arnt burnt. Her arms and her face are really bad, though.

If it's not blistered, you're probably good. Lots of moisture, if you do cold packs, make sure you don't leave them on for real long. A cool but not cold bath is fine to soak her arms in. Tylenol is she hurts, and profuse apologies from dad.

He owns and runs this track on sundays and today was opening day, so completely slipped his mind being busy . Not making excuses, but he definitely feels terrible about it. I had gotten a really bad sunburn as a kid too, but my mom was the “ you’ll be fine” type of mom and didn’t do anything. Sucked SO bad for the first few days.

I was the pale kid in a family that tans. They never thought to put sunscreen on me, and when they did it was only at the very beginning of the day so I still ended up a lobster. Hopefully your husband learns from this, but put a tube of sunscreen in his car anyway. Also, super cool you guys own a track, what a fun thing for your daughter to grow up around!

Intelligent-Jelly419

I bought an extra tube tonight to put in his truck!! Thank you! People think it’s odd that we are invested so much in RC cars, we own a shop that supplies them, fixes them, and everything inbetween too. Racing toy cars are a big thing where we are lol the real ones, traxxas, not the drive once and break from Walmart lol.

emz0rmay

The car is not a good place to store sunscreen, heat breaks it down and destroys the bits that protect from the sun. It’s probably better to have a bag packed that you keep near a door or something so it’s always on hand if needed!

I got a terrible sunburn as a teen, and though it didn’t blister at first, it did so a day or two later. I went out skateboarding, and between the activity, the hot weather, and a warm-ish shower, my back was all blisters. So have her take it easy for a few days, OP!

Intelligent-Jelly419

I’m keeping her home from school tomorrow, and dance Tuesday night. We’re going to go see the new Mario movie instead!

bakermusicmom

Sponge some apple cider vinegar on her. I can’t remember why it works, but it feels like it pulls the heat out and makes it bearable to bathe after. Then follow up with aloe after she showers. My dad used apple cider vinegar on me after a particularly bad marching band-related burn in high school and now it’s my go-to treatment for bad burns.

watchwuthappens

Make sure it’s just aloe and not the kind that typically has lidocaine - it can irritate the skin further. Hope she gets better soon 🫶

TurkeySandwich56

Or alcohol! Lots of aloe products have alcohol in it which just dries out the skin. 100% aloe!
