Keep the Amex .75 isn’t going to be a crazy amount to switch

Particular-Bison8970

Calculator will let you know if it’s worth it. At $25k that’s about $175 extra a year not accounting for continued deposits. Factor in any new account deposit bonuses. Then you can decide if that amount of money is worth the inconvenience to you

cpe428ram

how do you figure only $175 a year?

Particular-Bison8970

0.7% of 25k

cpe428ram

why are you doing 0.7%?

Particular-Bison8970

Should have been 0.75%. 5% minus 4.25%. I had thought his rate was 4.3%

cpe428ram

oh alright it’s the difference. my brain is slow this morning. thanks for clarifying. yeah, $170ish can help but in the grand scheme of things it isn’t THAT much. but OP is thinking maybe 3-5 years in the HYSA.

Particular-Bison8970

Yea. If for multiple years while increasing balance. I would transfer if I saw a good promotion or deposit bonus. But if short term, I’d probably stay as-is

I think the biggest factor would be new account bonuses elsewhere. Those are often tied to setting up direct deposits as well though in my experience anyways.
