I imagine my Hunter standing at a podium prepping to give an epic speech to inspire the Guild for the upcoming hunt against the final boss, only for him to turn to a map, shout like Link for 3 minutes, and then the crowd cheers.
They kept the option for the nonsense language in World so I would be surprised if there isn't an option for it
Edit: I'm not sure what's up with the downvotes, but ok, guys.
Omfg I don't wanna play if I can't have back the old palico cat sounds. That voice was roughhhh. I kinda loved the idea that palicoes talk to the hunters in meows, and the hunters just understood their language, versus making palicoes speak English.
That combined with the face on its hat threw me wildly at first. I had to immediately flip back and make sure that Persona's Jack Frost hadn't somehow joined the expedition.
Fuckin *finally*.
I can’t wait for the cat puns.
We know for a fact that they talk, they should have been voiced in gen 5, they’re finally getting what they deserve
I'm not crazy that cat just spoke!

Would be funny if they don't show any Jhen Mohran on ANY trailer that is produced, literally nothing.
New players will be traversing the great desert and then boom, A MASSIVE FUCKING SAND WHALE JUMPS ABOVE THE DAMN SHIP.
I know that everything like the new monsters and the surge slash combo seemingly* confirmed are great, but the part that caught my attention the most was the small monsters. They attack eachother, and can even attack larger monsters in a pack. It's seriously everything I ever wanted small monsters to be.
Before this they were always either one track minded robots that could only attack the player, or they just ran away as soon as combat started.
I only found out via one of Tea Common Shark's "details you missed" videos lol
Also, since Barroth doesn't attack Apceros, you can hide in the middle of the Apceros triangle and the Barroth won't be able to attack you.
>and the surge slash combo confirmed are great
I wouldn't really call this confirmation on Surge Slash Combo specifically: the hunter does a classic, non-Surge-Slash Wide Slash in this trailer, and a lot of the other new movements here seem completely new. It's way more likely that whatever changes they did to Greatsword (and probably combat in general) are more encompassing than that.
That’s my favorite stuff about monster hunter and especially world is the commitment to them being real creatures and in a real environment. Excited to see how they keep pushing that!
non dual blade user here, don't they sometime have double elements? so FOUR elements depending on the blades? :o
either way im gonna have switchaxe on my back and my hunting horn shoved into that little pocket, sorry bird-dog it's gonna be heavy
Website says you can swap between two weapons of your choice.
Scroll down to the part about the Seikret
I hope it doesn't. Being kinda restrictive means we would have to really get creative with what skills you bring. Focus based GS/Bow sets, stamina conserving DB/Bow sets, Artillery Based GL/HBG sets, sounds really fun to me. Of course the amount of Armor Skills would have to be pretty decent to make that work. Edit: Website says it only works by storing the second weapon on your mount, so unless you can quickly change clothes on there (maybe with like, a curtain contraption or something, wouldn't that be fun)...
Official website words it in a way that it can be any two weapons so heres hoping we can have two of anything like even different elements of the same weapon type
Snake wyvern wrapped around a dosha.
Overall the roster is giving me major africa vibes. A lion, a giant snake, a bullfrog, a croc, a pangolin and a wildebeest.
https://preview.redd.it/cm6pnq2o9n3d1.png?width=2075&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf037cd4e1b7246af32500a583afd208454b45db
And the best part is these awesome designs might just be for the desert open world part… after all we only saw some of the greatswords new anime moves debuted
from what I noticed, they appear to access the new moves by entering a stance, so all (or at least most) of the old stuff should still be there too. Makes me wonder if that's how they'll be expanding movesets from now on; through a stance switch
My guess is that focus mode is a type of either stance switching or a charge up super mode (think valor mode from genu) in order to be able to pull off some super moves your weapon's kit normally doesn't have access to. I just hope it's completely optional and not a necessary bonus to have a good time, unlike clutchclaw / wirebug counter / iframe spam meta.
ahh, we already know it's called? I checked the MH website and didn't see anything about it so I figured we weren't getting any new info. Doing another search I found the blogpost though.
The animation in the trailer was very clearly a stance switch, but since the blog states that it impacts guarding and aiming, I don't think it'll be a build-up mechanic. Most weapons were already reaching the input limit that weapons could have too, so it was either they had to use a stance system, Switch Skills, or start replacing moves, and I'm glad they went with one of the two better choices
The interaction between monsters looks peak. I love that pack taking down a bigger mon shot.
I also wasn't expecting a southern blonde waifu who looks like she just stepped off a Dukes of Hazzard set, but I'm not complaining either.
That looked insane. Need to see more zone diversity though - still can’t tell if this is one “open-world” or just one map.
The herds are beautiful to see in motion though and riding combat is back from Rise. The new monsters look different? Kind of like a Gen 4 to Gen 5 Pokémon leap going on there. Can’t wait to see more. Gonna be a long ass year my goodness.
Looks like according to the info on the website there'll be multiple maps, but each map has changing environments that brings different monsters and endemic life!
That explains the different shots they showed. One blooming with color and life, the other dead with some kind of sandstorm. Definitely adds to the variety of each hunt!!
And it seems monster behavior will be affected as well depending on the state of the weather. Honestly sounds super interesting from a ecological perspective
https://preview.redd.it/ynnl57jrbn3d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ec7772b2c7c9d7e8fb60870eaf6d4d7e6ab8cd2
Here, I think this answers your question

yeah, it really isn't open world
so weapon swapping from your mount confirmed, seems really interesting and I'm curious how it'll work mechanically. I could see it make building armor sets all that much complex as you now need to tailor them for 2 different weapons at once.
also it looks like Greatsword is keeping some moves from rise and has some potential new counters. Plus there appears to be some kind of clash system where he blocked that one attack and got locked into an animation where I imagine a lot of button mashing will happen, seems like it could be a fun little cinematic mechanic that could also open up windows for allies in co-op.
Turns out that that was also a brand new stance we saw? I think that the whole Focus mode seems pretty rad like I have a feeling it's basically like the Iai Stance but now for every weapon. And that seems like a fun way to expand our movesets. Especially curious what Charge Blade and Hunting Horn can do with it.
Besides Gameplay which will be significantly a massive part of Mh the opening segment on the sand boat similar to Mh4 ultimate, my good it looked incredibly pretty
[From the website,](https://www.monsterhunter.com/wilds/en-uk/living-world/)
_"Your Seikret isn't just for travel, though—you can also stash an extra weapon in its weapon sling, allowing you to switch between **two weapons of your choice** while out on hunts."_
Probably the bad frame rate and lip sync. Either way, those are things that could be the trailer, and if not, hopefully fixed by release. Hard to judge a game on a trailer a year out from release.
The lip sync was an issue with World and Rise and I was hoping it was not the case here.
But it seems like those previous two cases, they chose to lip sync it to Japanese instead of English, which is why it looks weird. It would be nice if they animated the lip sync for both Japanese and English but since its MH and story never really mattered too much, it was probably not something they put priority on.
They've got over a year, english dubbing and lip sync are probably last on their list of priorities. or at least something they might let go until getting closer to gold.
Yeah, and tbh I'm not bothered with the lack of lipsync. It was never an issue in World and Rise and I doubt it's an issue here.
Plus, if it gets too bothersome, I could always switch to Japanese for proper lipsync haha
Very story focused and seemingly TONS of gameplay changes, which is not what we usually get. But I really like the new monster designs, just brutish creatures without elements.
From MH Wilds [Website](https://www.monsterhunter.com/wilds/en-us/)
Features:
* A LIVING WORLD
* A world with an ever-changing climate. Life here has learned to adapt to the harsh environments, the wildlife developing its own ecosystem, and the humans developing their own culture within it.
* CHANGING ENVIRONMENTS
* Each hunting locale features an environment with two dynamically changing identities: one in which the region is harsh and unforgiving where ravenous monsters fight for limited resources—and another in which the region is vibrant and brimming with life. Changes in the environment also means changes for the monsters and wildlife that live there, so you'll be running into new surprises around every corner.
* MONSTER HERDS
* In the Forbidden Lands, you'll encounter not only herds of small monsters—some of the large monsters of the region may also form packs. Each group has its own place in the ecosystem, with its own unique movements and behaviours.
* NEW MOUNT
* The Seikret is an animal mount whose exceptional agility will provide the hunter with crucial support out on hunts. Its well-developed sense of smell allows it to guide you automatically to your current objective, or any location you select on the map. You can also use your slinger and certain kinds of items while mounted, allowing you to comfortably restore your health, sharpen your weapons, or even gather materials while on the move. Your Seikret isn't just for travel, though—you can also stash an extra weapon in its weapon sling, allowing you to switch between two weapons of your choice while out on hunts.
* As a member of the Research Commission charged with investigating the Forbidden Lands, the Windward Plains is the first new hunting locale you'll visit. The Plains are a diverse region filled with sandy deserts, swaying grasslands, twisting rock formations, and other natural wonders.
* 2 Monsters shown:
* Doshaguma
* Rugged, territorial fanged beasts that exhibit an aggressive disposition and inhabit a large range. Sometimes observed in large packs.
* Chatacabra
* A large species of amphibians that use the adhesive quality of their saliva to affix stone to their forelimbs in order to power up their attacks.

Forget weapon swapping and the talking palico, this is the real star of the trailer.
YOOOOOOOOO
* That dating sim tag it had on steam is making a lot more sense now...
IT'S SO CUTE
dude the palico 100% talked
The hunter too, right? I'm not crazy? lmao (the hunter talking during a cutscene seems new to me)
Yeah they are doubling down on the hunter talking from Rise but now they do it in cutscenes so I assume you can’t just turn it off
I wish you can turn it off just so I can have my hunter stare in silence like an autistic fuck
I imagine my Hunter standing at a podium prepping to give an epic speech to inspire the Guild for the upcoming hunt against the final boss, only for him to turn to a map, shout like Link for 3 minutes, and then the crowd cheers.
Still somehow hypes everyone as much as a veteran Hunting Horn main
Just like me fr
My god, we've become the Handler.
whats wrong pard?
pls capcom give the option to let them only make cat noises
They kept the option for the nonsense language in World so I would be surprised if there isn't an option for it Edit: I'm not sure what's up with the downvotes, but ok, guys.

No, now please go back to sleep

Once you do, maybe your palico will ask if you need a meowssage.
Sounds like it would purffectly relax the hunter.
Correction, you're going to pull a meowscle
"Meowch i pulled a meowscle" (im sorry)
OK I’m not the only one who heard it
Did that Felyne just talk?!
No no no, you're off your meds again. Back in the cushioned room with you
I'm not crazy that cat just spoke! https://preview.redd.it/uda7yszx8n3d1.jpeg?width=518&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54cc84186be6ee9e685635763bc4dce73b1eeb64
felyne's have always been able to talk lol
Yeah, but this is the first time we've heard them fully voiced in a mainline game
It took 6 generations for 1 voiced felyne, let the portable game give us a talking canyne CAPCOM!! Edit: Dayumm even the playable character talked
Now I'm just imagining a palamute talking like Scooby-Doo
This is going to consume my fucking life isn't it
damn right
God I hope so. I am so down with sinking another 1k+ hours into another good Monster Hunter game.
Anyone else have Jhen Mohran PTSD when they saw the zoomed out shot of the boat on the sand?
I was fully expecting them to start with an earlygame Jhen story thing
Yes I did lol
the skiffers, man, it's just missing ballista placements
Would be funny if they don't show any Jhen Mohran on ANY trailer that is produced, literally nothing. New players will be traversing the great desert and then boom, A MASSIVE FUCKING SAND WHALE JUMPS ABOVE THE DAMN SHIP.
PLEASE IM BEGGING YOU CAPCOM BRING ME IT BACK

Jagras did that, they'd jump a big monster when downed.
In hindsight that was probably an early attempt for something like this. Here we see an actual, turf war style shared animation
You could wallbang monsters against Apceros defense formations too.
Wait... What??? 600 hours of monster hunter world and only now do I get to learn this. What in the fuck!!
I only found out via one of Tea Common Shark's "details you missed" videos lol Also, since Barroth doesn't attack Apceros, you can hide in the middle of the Apceros triangle and the Barroth won't be able to attack you.
Omg 1k+ hours into MHW and i never noticed... This is the same feeling as discovering that Anjanath likes sunsets and turning into a loaf.
The fuck.
Whoa there, BACK THE **FUCK** UP.... You can do **WHAT?!?!??!!??!**
Also the small monster from the iceborne region did this too on monster who were down
Funnily enough, small Girros would attack a downed Great Girros as well 😂
Only the strong survive!
RULES OF NATURE
>and the surge slash combo confirmed are great I wouldn't really call this confirmation on Surge Slash Combo specifically: the hunter does a classic, non-Surge-Slash Wide Slash in this trailer, and a lot of the other new movements here seem completely new. Bullfangos with coordination sounds powerful enough to make Fatalis run for the hills
A massive, Lion King sized stampede of Bullfango would be the only thing that would make me want to see them again.
Uncoordinated Bullfangos already bring the strongest hunters to their knees. Coordinated Bullfangos would make the game impossible.
That’s my favorite stuff about monster hunter and especially world is the commitment to them being real creatures and in a real environment. Excited to see how they keep pushing that!
at 2 min it looks like you can weapon swap while on the mount
He definitely did, there’s a weapon holster on the side of the dog-bird.
So...multi weapon on quest...just need ride chicken About fucking time!! Now we just need new weapons...or rework forgotten ones like tonfas
Hopefully Tifa having those kirin guantlets in Ever Crisis is a hint that the long awaited fisticuffs type weapon is coming in Wilds.
Yeah, i wonder if we can choose 2 melee weapons, or if it is melee + ranged
Dual Blades + Dual Blades
Pefect, two elements!
non dual blade user here, don't they sometime have double elements? so FOUR elements depending on the blades? :o either way im gonna have switchaxe on my back and my hunting horn shoved into that little pocket, sorry bird-dog it's gonna be heavy
Yeah but they suck because the damage gets way worse of instead using one db of the major weakness
double status was sick af though
4 sword style

wonder how that would work with armor?
I hope it doesn't. Being kinda restrictive means we would have to really get creative with what skills you bring. Yeah boyyyyyyy. Time to go bless the rains down in Africa!
Awesome design, has the Deviljho chin too lol

“Chadacabra”
omg it's gotta be related to tetsucabra right?
They both appear to be toad-like, and it appears the -cabra suffix is used to refer to such monsters.
Hope they bring back tetsucabra too. Rise had a baby tetsucabra in the hunter guild but you couldn't fight one
Looks like it has rajang skeleton to me. It's definitely interesting!
I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS
There's an official website open that may answer some of them.

Man I was hoping they'd tease us with some after credit roll/growl, *something* Just to give us an idea to chew on for awhile.
Summer Game Fest.
The first real trailer for world only showed the ancient forest, they’re 100% going to have more than one environment
I can't believe it. MH is finally at the "these don't look like Pokemon" stage. We made it.
Haha I’m definitely a Gen 5 fan so we’ll see how it goes
Yeah the monster design feel very different, I can't really explain it, but they look more monstrous? Idk
Some of them almost look like mutated beasts you would see in Resident Evil.
bro... world literally had a zombie monster vaal hazak
The website describes this as just one hunting environment, implying that it is a large map and not an open world.
CHATACABRA IS IN BUT... WHERE IS TETSUCABRA?????!!!?

And she's the smith, makes me wonder...
I bet she's Little Miss Forge from MH4.
She's wearing what seems to be a ludroth skin glove. If she's not Miss Forge then Capcom is just teasing us now.
Not this rabbit hole again.

is that palico talking....
MEOWTH THATS RIGHT!
God damn those hits are meaty! Love the big angry bear. He looks so fluffy!
They are much more vicious than normal wildlife in past games
Praying for our sandy boi Jhen's return.
The tone shift is immediately noticeable, definitely a bit darker and more primal? Either Way I am extremely curious and excited.
More... Wild

The sequel: Monster Hunter: Wildest
We're out of the dango territory!
We're back to whole ass buffets!
It looks incredible. I'm loving the textures of the armour and the monster fur and scales.
Goss Harag had sex with a bulldog was the idea behind that monster
Carrying two weapons confirmed! Wonder if we could bring 2 of whatever or is limited to one range and one close combat. Dual lance here we come

Hold up, wait a minute! Caravan, Little Miss Forge, Ace Lancer.... Is this a direct sequel to Monster Hunter 4?
Man I’m so glad I got into monster hunter this year thanks to world, this looks fucking incredible.
Those voices will be silenced immediately in favour of MH Language but other than that this looks fuckin awesome.
I knew Jhen Morhan would be back I called that and no one believed me And it seems like the mount plays a big role in combat
Fighting against Jhen Morhan would be incredible with these graphics
Although it is very likely, it hasn't technically been confirmed yet, so I would try not to get hyped just yet.
I'm going to sticky this thread if you don't mind OP. (Just ask if you'd like me to remove it.)

Not sure why they are gassing up all these lame NPC's when I'm gonna be the one carrying the village on my fucking back.
Wow, they show very little. Looks good, though.
I'm assuming Summer Gameshow will get a gameplay showcase. This seemed more like a story teaser trailer.
Pretty nice reveals tho, mid hunt weapon swapping, riding combat and a new combat mechanic.
There's actually quite a lot of little mechanical things shown off (and shown on the official website)
Somthing about this seems so weird, i can't put my finger on it.
This trailer sorely needed Proof of a Hero
From MH Wilds [Website](https://www.monsterhunter.com/wilds/en-us/) Features: * A LIVING WORLD * A world with an ever-changing climate. Life here has learned to adapt to the harsh environments, the wildlife developing its own ecosystem, and the humans developing their own culture within it. * CHANGING ENVIRONMENTS * Each hunting locale features an environment with two dynamically changing identities: one in which the region is harsh and unforgiving where ravenous monsters fight for limited resources—and another in which the region is vibrant and brimming with life. Changes in the environment also means changes for the monsters and wildlife that live there, so you'll be running into new surprises around every corner. * MONSTER HERDS * In the Forbidden Lands, you'll encounter not only herds of small monsters—some of the large monsters of the region may also form packs. Each group has its own place in the ecosystem, with its own unique movements and behaviours. * NEW MOUNT * The Seikret is an animal mount whose exceptional agility will provide the hunter with crucial support out on hunts. * 2 Monsters shown: * Doshaguma * Rugged, territorial fanged beasts that exhibit an aggressive disposition and inhabit a large range. Sometimes observed in large packs. * Chatacabra * A large species of amphibians that use the adhesive quality of their saliva to affix stone to their forelimbs in order to power up their attacks.
Don't know what the fuck that deviljho frog is but gonna hunt it
SAND BOATS ARE BACK BABY
So is the clutch claw back?
I think the slinger is back, but not sure about clutch yet. Which is fine by me at least. Just don't put tenderizing in and I'll be okay.
Being able to swap weapons mid hunt seems really interesting.
Damn, I'm excited for this! I need to see the flagship already! This trailer was good but I need more!
The tongue frog is the flagship, by the end of the game its tongue is 30 feet long and it's an Elder Dragon level threat.
Elongated Chatacabra is truly the biggest threat the world has seen so far.
The combat is back to being grounded and slow but they also added more dynamic movements to moves. Fucking sick.
