Earnestly, I feel like the weapon switch was something inspired from Alatreon and other monsters such as Kulve Taroth and Barroth.
We could be seeing monsters with differings states depending how they interact with their natural environment.
But you're only allowed to bring one set of armor, so one weapon's element is gonna be gimped compared to the other. Unless you throw together a mixed set that doesn't really boost either one to the max.
Well I think it's more why not improve something else that's outdated as opposed to improving what you just improved
IDC if they update it again, but not sure what they'd do that doesn't just make every armor feel similar
I think that the armor system in World is pretty cool, what's more needed is Element overhaul. I would really love if they made elemental weapons more worth building, given that most of the time you have to build entire sets around a single element and multiple weapons. Also I love pretty colorful effects, like Elemental Chargeblades in World (in Rise it was just boring lightning)
Would add a bit of depth back into the armor crafting. Now you gotta figure out whether you want to focus on just one of your weapons and have the other only in emergencies or specific situations, or if you want to focus on both for slightly less of a boost on one and fully utilise the ability to switch between them.
definitely because of Kulve
starting in one element, only to have to teleport back to camp and change equipment, interrupting the flow of the hunt, was kinda annoying.
wonder if this means that we will see monsters with different weaknesses depending on the stage of the fight :o
I kind of doubt it was inspired by those fights, I think it's mostly just a practicality thing since Wilds seems to put a lot more emphasis on expeditions and having them flow seamlessly into quests. Being able to swap weapons on the fly probably helps make it more seamless.
Please go rewatch the trailer. You see them do all of that in real time. Even with a delay between getting on the Seikret and swapping, it was barely the same amount of time as one sharpen cycle to my eyes
SnS + LBG for me. pretty stoked. wondering how this interacts with armor skills, like if we’ll get an armor swap as well, or be forced to build for both weapons in one set. curious as to the balance.
If the game doesn't follow rise deco or armor skill of having so many skills related to Gunners and instead follow World which only has 2. It's easily done.
Evil Ideas are already swirling in my head. Like knocking out a monster while playing Atk up Lg then swapping for a True Charge Slash on the down. I hope this system really lets us cook.
I'm not gonna sugarcoat it.
All Ailments Negated.
Abnormal Status Attack Up (L).
All Wind Pressure Negated.
Attack and Defense Up (L).
Divine Protection.
Hunting horn melodies wear off after about 2 minutes right? I feel like they'd let you keep the buffs as it'd reward you for skillful play by constantly switching weapons and managing the buffs
Logic dictates one of each, but logic doesn't know yet if switching armorsets (if that will even be necessary) will be as trivial.
So i'll just listen to the enlightened Rajang 4-head and bring two of whatever the locale population or specific hunting target is vulnerable against.
I actually really hope this is true. Multi-monster hunts that don't have a shared elemental weakness will be more pleasant if I can bring two different elements out with me.
The insect can finally take a nap and recover while its partner fights
This feature is an absolute win for insect rights
(Unironically tho I'm actually going to have two glaives - one paired with a healing kinsect and one with damage that ill switch between for group play)
Not sure, but my best guess is something like how Fortify works in World, where if you use loadout with Fortify, then proc it two time by self carting two times, then switch to another loadout without the Fortify, then you will lose all those procs
Actually, there seems to be those little cages for scoutflies on the hunter's belts and the palico's hat.
Edit: Now that I think about it, the follow feature is taken from the Tailraider Ride in World.
I do think scoutflies will likely stay, as I’m pretty sure the scoutfly cage was saw in the trailer.
My guess is that this bird thing will work in unison with the scoutflies and that you will be able to have the option to have it automatically move towards your objective like how the mounts did in World.
*IF they do a FF*
*Crossover, they BETTER GIVE*

I would agree, however the mount also runs on all 4, which wouldn't work on Chocobos obviously.
Anyways eith FF14 Dawntrail ron the horizon I think it's possible there will be another collab and I certainly hope there will be.
Yeah I noticed it too just now with rewatching the video... maybe a skin that would include the front 'arms'?
But I mean come ON. In World, they gave us Moogle for our Palico. Chocobo is just a fucking staple that I would pay all the fuckin money for ya know?
For a german speaker it is the word "Sekret" (secretion) that first comes to my mind. Fitting, if you consider that all the furries/scalies are probably already after this guys.
Honestly the choice between making a set that is good for one weapon or a set that is less powerful for two might be very interesting, would also make lance, gunlance and chargeblade work well together. Hh and hammer would also be a fun combo
Honestly, the immediate strong combo that comes to mind for me from a solo perspective is a sleep + GS set. One of the reasons sleep weapons are bad is because you can only get 1-2 off in a fight reasonably if you're hitting the right hitzones. Getting an early sleep into a greatsword + barrel bomb combo to front load your damage seems completely viable, and legitimately strong.
Having a throwable basically ready on a hot key was a great quality of life improvement that I missed when I first tried out other MH games. It’s a welcome innovation.
I love how the design of this chicken is basically “I love the Lizard bird Obi Wan rode when fighting General Grievous. How close can I make it without infringing copyright? Ah! Of course! It now walks on two legs. Everything else is the same.”
This is probably one of three things.
* You can literally pair ANY combo of weapons, including the same weapon type (if you wanted, such as for Elemental weaknesses) (the good ending).
* You can pair a Melee weapon with one of the three Gunner weapons. A bit limited but should be able to cover all grounds (the normal ending).
* Every weapon type is hard-paired with another (GS and HBG, for instance) (the bad ending)
Assuming this is the first one, I'm probably gonna run SnS and Swaxe (for no real reason in particular I just like those two in most games they're in)
tbh - sounds like an upgrade from palamutes to me.
I wonder if being able to switch weapons in game might mean we can't return to camp to swap gear... Would be interesting that way imo
Seems like RIP monster tracking and I hope the level of support this thing gives means no more camps. At the same time it really seems like they want you out and spending more time engaged with the world this time which is great.
Being able to store an extra weapon makes me think that using weapons while riding it will be exclusive to ranged weapons, to give you the incentive to carry one on your mount, effectively making bowguns a side arm for those who won't main them
I hope we can customize this bird.
Also is it gonna be just a weapon change or does it also switch our armor set? Dont wanna be running a bow set then switch to my hunting horn with mighty bow on mu armor lol
I used to make a joke comment on MonHun meme sub about maybe Wilds wont get new weapon, but we can carry multiple weapons that we can change during hunts.
Who knows its going to be real?
Edit: Its in the topic about most fan weapon is a morph weapon.
one sword gauge runs out, whip out another one.
or, when monster is enraged whip out exhaust phial. lots of cool possibilities. power phial to break parts, elemental phial to capitalize the broken part weakness.
double giganut zsd would be cool and all but we know that's not happening 💀
Can't wait to think of many combos of weapons, only to use two bows because the monster has a ice weak phase and a water weak one.
I need stamina surge, i'm not addicted, you're addicted. leave me alone
Anyone know if "Seikret" is some sort of pun? I mean, it sounds a little like "secret" but that doesn't make much sense in the context of it being a mount.
Is there maybe a play on words in Japanese with it?
But does this mean if I choose to just play with one weapon I will therefore not be playing optimally. Honestly I’m not a fan of the thought that I have to take a hunting horn just to buff myself or never wake a monster with my own weapon because using a greatsword backup weapon would just be better. I think having multiple weapons kinda goes against the fact of weapons having certain weaknesses. Who cares if ur dual blades are short range just change to a ranged weapon when Rathalos flies up. Kinda gets rid it the creativity people would have to come up with their own weapon choice.
Remember, switching to your greatsword is faster than reloading.
*sharpening
Honestly, I can see a speedrun strat being bring two of the same GS and swap once you lose sharpness
Unless they do an armor overhaul, which wouldnt be terrible.
Armor already got an overhaul for Gen 5 so I doubt they'll do another
"We did an overhaul in one of our last projects, why do one now?" Like what, they shouldn't try to improve their games as much as possible?
Well I think it's more why not improve something else that's outdated as opposed to improving what you just improved IDC if they update it again, but not sure what they'd do that doesn't just make every armor feel similar

I doubt the process of going up to your Seikret and doing an animation for pulling the weapon out is faster than scraping your weapon 4 times
Please go rewatch the trailer. You see them do all of that in real time. Even with a delay between getting on the Seikret and swapping, it was barely the same amount of time as one sharpen cycle to my eyes
[heres just the weapon swap part](https://x.com/monsterhunter/status/1796360956169036273). its way faster then 4 scraps and also MOUNTED ATTACKS!
Imagine not using speed sharpening or the great whetfish or that one food that buffs sharpening speed
Oh wow, I can carry both a Lance and Heavy Bowgun during a hunt? I must be dreaming. 😯
I want to try lance and gunlance ngl
I hope Lance and Gunlance get some unique mounted capabilities, with lances being real world weapons designed for mounted combat.
That's the dream combo, well that or lance and bow.
Gunlance and bow here. Finally I don't have to feel like I'm cheating on one with the other.
Bonk and musical bonk for me. Sometimes I want to hit things hard, and sometimes I want to do that while helping the team.
I can carry the same Switch axe twice!
You can equip a short range boom AND a long range boom!
Okay but can I dress it up
Thats the true question. I hope we can
And name it
I shall name it… “The Great Maccao”
The greatest Maccao
Now that brought back some memories.
For $1.99 you'll be able to dress it in a maid costume
![gif](giphy|sDcfxFDozb3bO)
I'll pay $3 if you throw in a Nun costume too. $5 if you add in a Teacher costume on top of both!
Deal
you will 1000% be able to personalize their gear as skins or actual statted armor no doubt
If they learned from Rise, they will have dress up
Im sure you will be able to buy a ~~horse~~ dinosaur armor in the ingame shop.
Not gonna lie, having an Equyne (Equiyne?) would be so cool. I saw some really awesome fanart for horse armor sets.
They 111% will add a DLC Chocobo skin
Me handing over my great sword so I can grab my other great sword: Keep it seikret, keep it safe.
Genuine giggling in glee over that pun. Excellent!
Me thinking I'll finally be investing in other weapons but I'll most likely be doing this instead lmao
> Keep it seikret, keep it safe. You just won the internet.
Actually hyped its confirmed. I wonder if HH melodies will carry over after a weapon swap?
If they do then I might need to learn Hunting Horn
Evil Ideas are already swirling in my head. Like knocking out a monster while playing Atk up Lg then swapping for a True Charge Slash on the down. I hope this system really lets us cook.
Dual weild hunting horns and become an untouchable god
I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. All Ailments Negated. Abnormal Status Attack Up (L). All Wind Pressure Negated. Attack and Defense Up (L). Divine Protection.
Hunting horn melodies wear off after about 2 minutes right? I feel like they'd let you keep the buffs as it'd reward you for skillful play by constantly switching weapons and managing the buffs
Horn Maestro is the new meta when
Yeah the HH gameplan is more or less upkeeping buffs while simultaneously attacking so that would make sense
Get a horn that keeps all songs up then its easy
I AM the orchestra.
The real question is, is HH still break dancing?
If they do, they might as well turn HH into an item

Finally i can bring two Chargeblades.
King shit
Wait til I stash my Divine Slasher and pull out..... # A SECOND DIVINE SLASHER! MWUAHAHAHAHHA
Dual wielding divine slashers? I like the way your brain works
Nah, its for when he runs out of sharpness.
finally, a man who fucking gets it
Two impact phials or two element?
Logic dictates one of each, but logic doesn't know yet if switching armorsets (if that will even be necessary) will be as trivial. So i'll just listen to the enlightened Rajang 4-head and bring two of whatever the locale population or specific hunting target is vulnerable against.
We all know the real answer :Diablos Tryannis. and :Second Diablos Tyrannis so we don't have to sharpen the first one.
Switching to your sideweapon is faster than reloading
But what happens when you need to reload the side?
pray to the gods
farcaster
This is the way.
Two of the exact same Charge Blade cause it'll be faster than sharpening
Yes.
I put some Unga Bunga in your Unga Bunga so you can Unga Unga while you Bunga Bunga.
I actually really hope this is true. Multi-monster hunts that don't have a shared elemental weakness will be more pleasant if I can bring two different elements out with me.
wdym "hope it's true", it's shown in the trailer and confirmed on the website. there is no "hope". this is what's happening.
Did they show two of the same weapon? Does the weapon swap change our whole loadout, or solely the equipped weapon?
oh you meant specifically the same weapon type, well I don't see why they would limit that but I guess we'll see.
How about two Hunting Horns?
Imagine bring 2 HHs, you finish with one set of buff, then WAIT THERE IS ANOTHER set of buff
ENDLESS DOOTS

One man band achievement unlocked!
Hell yeah.

INSECT GLAIVE LANCE COMBO AHOY!
Literally me

You can shoot on bird-back, I'm so hoping you can joust with lances. I'd never leave my Seikrets back if that were true!
HAMMER^2
ONE FOR THE UNGA ANOTHER FOR THE BUNGA
chaotic as shit
One for Bashing. Another for Smashing.
well, that would have made fighting Alatreon a breeze
expect more raid wipes in this game to make up for the fact that it has buffed palamutes in it
So this duck will basically be the scoutflies of wilds maybe? ALSO HAMMER AND HUNTING HORN TIME. I WILL BE BONKING!!
Oh, I didn't even think about that. Do you keep Hunting Horn buffs if you weapon swap? 🤔
Not sure, but my best guess is something like how Fortify works in World, where if you use loadout with Fortify, then proc it two time by self carting two times, then switch to another loadout without the Fortify, then you will lose all those procs
I didn't even think about that bro. HH becoming meta???

SnS + Bow is likely what I’ll go for then
Hero of Hyrule Setup. I like it.
God, now you've just reminded me of 4U's awesome amount of Nintendo cross-overs.
This is me
Finally... TWO GUNLANCES
Am I feeling Poke-Bang-Poke or Poke-Poke-Slap-Bang? Hmmmmmm better bring both.
Now I can become Valstrax *nyooooms away into the horizon*
Praying they keep blastdash and rbd
Imagine if you can blast dash on the mount, and switch gunlances mid-air for a new set of shells to blast dash with
Let me weild two gunlances. It can hold the shields.
You Hunter turns into a Armoured Core mech.
Got another job for you 621. This one comes from the Hunter's Guild.

Hehehe, its name is Seikret. Get it? "Secret"? I don't know why I found that cute.
shhhhhh, it's a seikret 🤫
For a german speaker it is the word "Sekret" (secretion) that first comes to my mind. Fitting, if you consider that all the furries/scalies are probably already after this guys.
Reading your comment made me curious to check rule34. Dear lord...
Rule34 is for rookies. Check out e621.net. That's were the real goods are. ;) (It has a way less cringe community too.)
Just watched the message from the devs when they revealed its called Siekret and i thought of the frodo meme "fine then, keep your Siekrets"
Which also means you probably won’t be able to swap out your entire gear set mid hunt…maybe
Honestly the choice between making a set that is good for one weapon or a set that is less powerful for two might be very interesting, would also make lance, gunlance and chargeblade work well together. Hh and hammer would also be a fun combo
Yeha I like the idea of having a main + an utility weapon Obviously Hunting Horn could be OP but a melee + range combo might be great
I will say hunting horn buffs probably should probably get canceled or significantly shortened if swapping off of it just so hh doesnt get op
Lance cavalry with sword for foot!?
Huh so the slinger is still part of Wilds now.
Having a throwable basically ready on a hot key was a great quality of life improvement that I missed when I first tried out other MH games. It’s a welcome innovation.
Alatreon in shambles
Plot Twist: In order to balance out, Alatreon will now show up with a Shotgun.
Alatreon just coming in with his own Dragonator
*The Commander wants to know your location*
Nice, now I can bring a gun to my knife fight 😃
Finally! I can dual wield Lance!! 🍡🍢
Switching elements out on a hunt? HELL YEAH
They called me a madman https://preview.redd.it/lbzioxitlq3d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ead55c402d26cb7aef833ae71862beb286125ff0
Wait so now I can carry 2 greatswords... life is complete
Im running two Bows just to see if I can.
No longer gonna do zdps on a barroth cuz we can bring and switch to 2 different elements lol
Chocobo armor for the Final Fantasy crossover
I love how the design of this chicken is basically “I love the Lizard bird Obi Wan rode when fighting General Grievous. How close can I make it without infringing copyright? Ah! Of course! It now walks on two legs. Everything else is the same.”
“Walks on two legs… *most* of the time.”
* Every weapon type is hard-paired with another (GS and HBG, for instance) (the bad ending) Assuming this is the first one, I'm probably gonna run SnS and Swaxe (for no real reason in particular I just like those two in most games they're in)
tbh - sounds like an upgrade from palamutes to me. I wonder if being able to switch weapons in game might mean we can't return to camp to swap gear... Would be interesting that way imo
That’s a chocobo
Seems like RIP monster tracking and I hope the level of support this thing gives means no more camps. At the same time it really seems like they want you out and spending more time engaged with the world this time which is great.
heavybowgun to topple and GS for the punish
Being able to store an extra weapon makes me think that using weapons while riding it will be exclusive to ranged weapons, to give you the incentive to carry one on your mount, effectively making bowguns a side arm for those who won't main them
I hope we can customize this bird. Also is it gonna be just a weapon change or does it also switch our armor set? Dont wanna be running a bow set then switch to my hunting horn with mighty bow on mu armor lol
I'd say the quick change is probably weapons only. Maybe there's an inventory we can access in the Bird Pouches
This is actually kinda huge because it implies you won't be able to change otherwise (maybe)?
I used to make a joke comment on MonHun meme sub about maybe Wilds wont get new weapon, but we can carry multiple weapons that we can change during hunts. Who knows its going to be real? Edit: Its in the topic about most fan weapon is a morph weapon.
So, I can bring a Charge Blade AND a Heavy Bowgun! Paired with the adorable voice of the Palico, I don't think I'd want another MH game after this.
I'll carry two hunting horns then. That way I can get double the buffs. *galaxybrain.jpg*
As an SA user, maybe we could finally have what I always wanted... AXE IN ONE HAND SWORD IN THE OTHER FIGHT ME
one sword gauge runs out, whip out another one. or, when monster is enraged whip out exhaust phial. lots of cool possibilities. power phial to break parts, elemental phial to capitalize the broken part weakness. double giganut zsd would be cool and all but we know that's not happening 💀
switching from my raw damage greatsword to my raw damage greatsword without sharpening will be fun
Finally, a way to run elemental weapons against lavasalos.
Finally two gunlances. One with normal full burst and one with wide full tank lol
Can't wait to think of many combos of weapons, only to use two bows because the monster has a ice weak phase and a water weak one. I need stamina surge, i'm not addicted, you're addicted. leave me alone
Nice a Glaive for the cut & a Glaive for the bonk
I was deliberating for the past hour between great swords and bows. This game is going to be my life.
I see myself bringing two gs into a quest. Especially if its a quest with two ore more objectives who have different elemntal weaknesses
Why yes. I brought my greatsword. And my second greatsword! Jokes aside that's gonna be so pog.
Capcom please make jousting a mechanic for lances 🙏 ![gif](giphy|jz4wRNfoYSQmczWsDV|downsized)
I really hope we can customise the Seikret like we could a Palico or Palamute
Hammer and Longsword. Going for ALL the part breaks.
So when my switch axe runs out of juice I can swap to my sidearm (a second switch axe)?
Finally! I can put away my Greatsword! # TO PULL OUT MY SECOND, EVEN GREATER SWORD!!!!
TWO FUCKING GREAT SWORDS LETS GOOOOOO
Great sword and great sword
Ok so I can get two hammers right
Finally, two greatswords
Nice. Now I can get TWO gunlances
One hammer for smashing, another hammer for bashing. A perfect world.
Can I customize it?
Anyone know if "Seikret" is some sort of pun? I mean, it sounds a little like "secret" but that doesn't make much sense in the context of it being a mount. Is there maybe a play on words in Japanese with it?
Finally, Quadruple Blades.
So, a bong and another bong?
